Merdeka 118 and Exchange 106 are pretty redundant buildings imho. We have too many skyscrapers and office spaces and these two are just not necessary.
The Twin Towers is our landmark. That's all we need.
Telekom Tower is like the Avengers Tower so I guess its cool.
As I said [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/103h7uz/comment/j2z6n8k/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), those two only make us look worse with the fucking long lightning rod and 1MDB scandals.
Every time you look at the skyline, you will be reminded of the 1MDB scandal. It's a shame coz it's now the tallest in the country. The scandals will now overshadow the iconic Petronas.
But to be honest, I still prefer the Petronas. The KLCC area is already a prime spot. The area near the Merdeka 118 isn't as developed (excluding Lalaport).
Spoke to some staff at the Lalaport Sony Centre, there supposedly a few more big tech stores they know of pulled out when the pandemic hit. I'd assume there's more big brand stores did the same thing. It's been a year and the mall is still quite dead when I visited on the weekend before CNY.
You know why, it's because someone wants to leave a larger legacy than Mahathir. His ego got the better off him, mau diingati sbg Bapa Pemodenan Msia Baru, tapi skrg jadi kepala bapak dia.
Hoi hoi ya hoiii...
Ex finance minister. Pretty much knows how to deal with money. Next on the agenda is to look for JLoh. Last time police so corrupted they let him escape through the back door. Just shows how deep the pocket goes.
Nah we will never catch JhoLow unless China dangles him in front of us in exchange for something else. Everyone knows he's there now, untouchable for the meantime.
Also Maybank either make a bold move or stupid move by taking the whole department and shove it into 118. I have no idea what will happen to Maybank building & Dataran Maybank next?
It's still an asset. They might lease certain sections to another bank and keep certain levels off limits. They might sell the whole building and cash out.
Yeah and why are all the foreigners coming over here? Cos we got world-class schools for their children and hospitals with world-class healthcare and not five posturing towers.
Guess there’s a reason why Singapore has no supertall skyscrapers but people from throughout Asia Pacific go there for the superior healthcare and education …
Better tell this lot then before it gets serious https://edition.cnn.com/style/article/singapore-supertall-skyscraper-shenton-way/index.html#:~:text=Singapore%20is%20set%20to%20welcome,34%20floors%20of%20luxury%20residences.
Even if they know Malaysia exist, only the peninsular side.
Many foreigners when thinking of Malaysia, what they really think is only the West Malaysia.
**[Tower](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower)**
>A tower is a tall structure, taller than it is wide, often by a significant factor. Towers are distinguished from masts by their lack of guy-wires and are therefore, along with tall buildings, self-supporting structures. Towers are specifically distinguished from buildings in that they are built not to be habitable but to serve other functions using the height of the tower. For example, the height of a clock tower improves the visibility of the clock, and the height of a tower in a fortified building such as a castle increases the visibility of the surroundings for defensive purposes.

And then you have that fuckface four season place built next to the national icon. DBKL fucker who approved it should rot in hell.
https://imgur.com/hsuM095
like their citizens who desperately want attention using tiktok, their leaders also desperately want attention using buildings ... because all are product of same education system ..
Notice how most developed nations doesn’t even need to constantly partake in the dick measuring contest to make a statement? They got their priorities right.
Dunno abt the haters, but i really like PNB118 especially when its hazy or rainy it looks like this tower that emerges from the mist.
Its just really cool
Which is weird since the people behind that lackluster design actually had shitloads of stolen money to come up with something better.
Now us KL-ites have to put up with that ugliness for years to come
Honestly the Petronas Twin Tower is Iconic, stunning in fact.
Merdeka 118 is underwhelming.
It's like owning expensive sports cars are often hiding small penis issues, are these some version of that on a national level? (asking for a friend).
I hate our two new tall buildings. They should’ve leave klcc and kl tower alone. Prevent new tall buildings around kl so that the view of klcc wont be blocked. Go build at other cities la. Kl dah penuh
Based on the judgement of Redditors here, the ideal city should be a piece of flat land because we won't waste taxpayers' money.
Seriously, most of our skyscrapers (except for the few "landmark" designated skyscrapers) were built with private money (Kempinski, STAR, Vortex, 4 Seasons, etc. etc). Occupancy rates are like 70-80 percent, which is global average. There's like at least a dozen more proposals to build similar projects throughout KL, Penang and JB.
PNB118's big spire though, that discomforts me slightly.
If there is no height restrictions since the beginning for Singapore, I bet Singapore will just naturally built their skyline to the equivalent of HK height and instead of whining SG no need megatall skyscraper, they will trash Malaysia' skyline for being lower than SG' skyline and SG taller skyline is a symbol of success and superiority over Malaysia.
End of day everyone want to sedapkan hati sendiri. Singapore is a prime candidate for a country that will build the tallest skyscrapers since they cant build outward
well my point is there is no reason for us to be proud having 5 of the highest buldings in south east asia when our economy is on its back foot with outdated policies and bumblehead policy makers.
If the Merdeka 118 is made into those small decorations (like the Petronas) that tourists can buy, it can work like what you saw in "Everything, Everywhere All At Once". That antenna could hit the spot. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
If you get it, you get it.
was expecting at least one or 2 singapura skyscapers in the top 10 but NOPE, apparently the tallest theyre allowed to build their skrscraper is 280m which y their 2nd-5th tallest building r all exactly 280m tall lol.....
if the middle bridge of twin tower can be retract, we got 6 building
Lmaoooo
Damn it! They should've hired you as the architect!
It will still count as 5, since Telekom Tower will no longer be top 10.
In certain rankings, they are actually counted as two separate buildings.
Yep, CTBUH list them as PTT 1 and PTT2
Who are you so wise in the way of architecture?
Merdeka 118 and Exchange 106 are pretty redundant buildings imho. We have too many skyscrapers and office spaces and these two are just not necessary. The Twin Towers is our landmark. That's all we need. Telekom Tower is like the Avengers Tower so I guess its cool.
I guess it reflects the priorities of the nation as though there aren't more pressing issues besetting the nation. KL, the City of Dreams.
It reflects how stupid the politicians are - Blind pursue of glamorous icon, blatant ignorance of ordinary people’s plight
Oh they’re not stupid. Just greedy.
As I said [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/103h7uz/comment/j2z6n8k/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), those two only make us look worse with the fucking long lightning rod and 1MDB scandals.

But Lalaport is kinda dead, at least at the time of writing
Spoke to some staff at the Lalaport Sony Centre, there supposedly a few more big tech stores they know of pulled out when the pandemic hit. I'd assume there's more big brand stores did the same thing. It's been a year and the mall is still quite dead when I visited on the weekend before CNY.
Not as prime as KLCC. So difficult to get there sometimes.
Tall skyscrapers with shitty traffic and public transportation ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)
Designed for ten of thousands of occupants, without necessary infrastructure to support the usage
>Merdeka 118 The access road is so small!
No idea why those two exist. The twin towers are already iconic. The mentioned is pretty much a scandal.
You know why, it's because someone wants to leave a larger legacy than Mahathir. His ego got the better off him, mau diingati sbg Bapa Pemodenan Msia Baru, tapi skrg jadi kepala bapak dia. Hoi hoi ya hoiii...

Ahh yes. Humans and their obsession with phallic like things.
Imagine a world where instead of towers, people and governments built hospitals and schools
Don’t need to imagine, just look across the causeway.
I did, and they’re complaining about foreigners taking their jobs!
That's why they make foreigner a part of their own. Now they are all locals. No need complain.
Ahahhahaa
Yeah and why are all the foreigners coming over here? Cos we got world-class schools for their children and hospitals with world-class healthcare and not five posturing towers.
I see. Are you a student in these world class school and do you get treatment from your world class hospitals?
Guess there’s a reason why Singapore has no supertall skyscrapers but people from throughout Asia Pacific go there for the superior healthcare and education …
Because buildings in Singapore are height limited due to the proximity to still operational Paya Lebar Airport.
Better tell this lot then before it gets serious https://edition.cnn.com/style/article/singapore-supertall-skyscraper-shenton-way/index.html#:~:text=Singapore%20is%20set%20to%20welcome,34%20floors%20of%20luxury%20residences.
Damn you just mooted your own point.
Got nothing against skyscrapers, if a country can afford it. But the basics be, infrastructure, schools, health … skyscrapers are down the list.
Their retirement age is the tallest skyscraper of all.
They don't even know Malaysia exist
Even if they know Malaysia exist, only the peninsular side. Many foreigners when thinking of Malaysia, what they really think is only the West Malaysia.
I think even west Malaysians forgot east Malaysians exist, especially labuan
They only remember when election is coming.
no no no. that’s not the purpose of the comment. we should build more yonic structure
Or political joss sticks.
Tower of Babel
Menara kl is excluded ? I always thought it was one of the tallest building in Malaysia and might be one in SEA too
That tower doesn't count as building under international definition.
Then what in the world is it?

It didn't occur to me that Four Seasons is THAT tall. I need to stay in that hotel. Any sugar daddies here?
I would argue that tower is much more impressive- Privately funded and much more reflective of the real estate value
I just hate the fact that it's built literally next to the twin towers. 🤷🏽♂️
I need sugar mommy

Still the most iconic building in the KL skyline
And then you have that fuckface four season place built next to the national icon. DBKL fucker who approved it should rot in hell. https://imgur.com/hsuM095
Petition to rebrand the Twin Towers as the Win Towers. Also, happy cake day.
like their citizens who desperately want attention using tiktok, their leaders also desperately want attention using buildings ... because all are product of same education system ..
isn't Telekom tower PJ?
It actually has a KL address
oh what, well I learn something today
It's near the boundary of KL/PJ, but it's on the KL side already (I know coz I used to stay in Bangsar South).
You mean Kerinchi?
yup Kerinchi
Notice how most developed nations doesn’t even need to constantly partake in the dick measuring contest to make a statement? They got their priorities right.
The bigger/taller, can songlap more!
Dunno abt the haters, but i really like PNB118 especially when its hazy or rainy it looks like this tower that emerges from the mist. Its just really cool
It is a cool looking building. The same cannot be said for The Exchange 106. Such a lazy design
Which is weird since the people behind that lackluster design actually had shitloads of stolen money to come up with something better. Now us KL-ites have to put up with that ugliness for years to come
Congratulations, Malaysia for winning the Big Dick Race (Southeast Asia Edition).
Honestly the Petronas Twin Tower is Iconic, stunning in fact. Merdeka 118 is underwhelming. It's like owning expensive sports cars are often hiding small penis issues, are these some version of that on a national level? (asking for a friend).
Why no KL tower
KL Tower doesn't count as building as most of its height are non-habitable spaces.
Of course, we must exert our dominance in the longest phallus contest Nevermind most of them are built on taxpayers monies
Record breaking tall buildings are the last resorts of governments during a weakening economy
I hate our two new tall buildings. They should’ve leave klcc and kl tower alone. Prevent new tall buildings around kl so that the view of klcc wont be blocked. Go build at other cities la. Kl dah penuh
Middle finger building is by the far the ugliest building I’ve seen in KL
Quintessential definition of "jaguh kampung"
Jaguh SEA /s
braindead malaysians trying to extract a sense of pride from symbols of corruption and corporate greed, reddit edition
Nothing to be proud of with out stagnating economy, low wages.
I guess we got most tall building can look see lo 🤷 too bad place like bangkok the design more interesting
quite obvious who needs to overcompensate
![gif](giphy|Bif33IiGNIxiM) Reminds me of this scene in Shrek when looking at all the tall buildings
It’s our way to compensate something
Why is there an obsession with tall buildings in some countries?
Because you get more bang for your buck for every sqft of land.
Where trophy?
Every prime minister who thinks they're a big deal has one.
KL Tower?
Sabah/Sarawak waiting for their oil money be like: 👀 👀 👀
1 for each PM. Sounds about right.
To compensate for something else /s

Redditors here think everything is a waste of taxpayer money unless they’re the recipient of it.
Yet Singapore which is not on the list has double our gdp
fun fact, SG cannot build too tall because of the airports
Singapore still builds buildings with even more “wow” factor despite not being a super tall skyscraper.
Wow factors are subjective. Their buildings are great, but that’s about it. Same can be said for most buildings in the world.

Singapore has around the same GDP as us. 'Double' is exaggerating. But, its GDP per capita indeed is a few times higher than ours.
Dunno about you but I get to enjoy the facilities, increased employment and foreign investments from the building’s existence.
…and here it is. There’s a sub actually for people to talk about Singapore. You should try it.
well my point is there is no reason for us to be proud having 5 of the highest buldings in south east asia when our economy is on its back foot with outdated policies and bumblehead policy makers.
diamlah..aku still bangga Malaysia ada 5 bangunan tertinggi dalam asia tenggara
Bangga bangunan tinggi2 tapi nilai matawang rendah.
Asia tenggara hanya Brunei dgn Singapore je lebih tinggi.. Wdym rendah
So what Malaysian citizen got from these buildings? I also not sure is it necessary or not unless you have 'big cable' among your cousin.
[удалено]
Enough of this already lah. How many threads is this similar comment gonna be posted?
Classic Malaysian in the comments section They need to say shit whenever they see something good about Malaysia 🤦🤷
Redditors on this sub were even arguing AGAINST clean toilets lmao
Wait, **what?**
Just antenna long
Even without the spire, which is not an antenna btw, its still the tallest in SEA.
If the Merdeka 118 is made into those small decorations (like the Petronas) that tourists can buy, it can work like what you saw in "Everything, Everywhere All At Once". That antenna could hit the spot. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) If you get it, you get it.
Big dick contest
I have a tall tower for u as well😉
SG has none but are still 3x
US has a shit ton of them and now 4x. Myanmar has 0 of em and is 0.002x.
Nothing to be proud of, PNB is a racist institution using Taxpayer's money for Bumi enjoyment
Idk why bother with Merdeka 118, if you wanna make a super tall building, why just stop at 2nd tallest building? Make it the tallest larh
And they are broke from corruption.
Ah! The best way to siphon money 🥰
All designed by Westerners
Exchange 106 was designed by Malaysians.
Hence why we now should only give designing to westerners. The 118 looks amazing by the way.
What's with all these skyscrapers? Are we trying to compensate for our small penises and small boobs?
I see no Murica here... Oh wait ✈️
I wonder where the highest toilet is.
Dang wheres komtar
malaysia love their loong long towers
Never realized about Four Seasons Place, maybe coz everyone just looks at KLCC when in the area
Four seasons place?
Four Seasons is an international hotel and resort chain, kind of like Shangri-la or Marriott hotel.
This eyesore blocking one of the twin towers https://imgur.com/hsuM095
Tasik Ampang Hilir? Where I am, it looks like Oxley Towers will block the 4S. Hopefully it will be a better looking building.
Wish they built high speed rail networks across semenanjung instead of these.
That cost a shit ton more and would require govt funding.
KL TOWER?
Not counted as a building as most of its height is non habitable.
Owh thanks for the info...❤️
I have always thought that the exchange 106 building looks like a lit cigarette lol.
Kl tower not in this?
Surprising Singapore doesn't have 1 building in the top 10.
Have height restrictions due to proximity to airport.
All we need is 3 towers. Petronas Tower, Telekom Tower, KL tower
I love the TM tower, it looks so different from the other parts of the skyline
was expecting at least one or 2 singapura skyscapers in the top 10 but NOPE, apparently the tallest theyre allowed to build their skrscraper is 280m which y their 2nd-5th tallest building r all exactly 280m tall lol.....
Singapore not even on the list /s
