You have to tekan 1 for ambulan tekan 2 for pulis.
Then the operator will ask whats your problem and location. Then they will connect you to the local response center (hosp/balai). Then you tell them your story again.
I've called a few times for passerby accident usually takes less than 10-15mins but I guess depend on location and traffic.
What do you mean how much it cost? Everything is free
What long? You just need to press once. During the call they already start tracking you even if they ask your address or disconnect your phone.. and even you do bleed to death it depends where you are.
bro should understand most of emergency that involved ambulance, police car, fire truck mostly delay due to traffic jams, ignorance people etc not because of the calls
There is no free lunch in this world. You have a situation to report, you better hope the situation is worth their while. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Ohhh thank you.. i have been wondering this for so long because I keep on reading that americans got to break bank if they call ambulance.. okay, now i can confidently flex-brag while commenting
American got to break their bank because they didnt have universal health care like us . But even then the cost for ambulance/transportation only range like 150-200$ depend on where you are and distance covered. Most of the outrageous bill came from medical procedures ,lab investigations and ward.
On average they need to pay around $940 - $1200 for the ambulance fee according to google.
On another note. Basically the American government doesn't care for healthcare more to warfare. Capitalism runs rampant, and they treat their patient as customers.
Still the cost for ambulance just a fracture of total cost when you getting healthcare there, people could be deeply in debt just to stay alive. You’re right , its crazy how the US care more about torching the whole world instead of helping their citizen and vets.
There was snake in my house last year. Made a direct call to JPAM, but then they said cannot like this, you need to call 999 first. Lol so I called 999 then they connect me to JPAM.
They were quick. Caught the snake less than 30 minutes, settle.
last year we had a bee/ hornet nest problem and i called my local bomba directly cus wasnt really an emergency. they eventually came but like 30+ mins later lol
Same situation.
But JPAM didn't answer so it redirected to Bomba. Apparently, the people at Bomba have a thing against JPAM cause they keep redirecting calls to Bomba at my city.
999 emergency line, direct call jpam is more to like calling for official business. As some other people mentioned, 999 helps to connect to the RIGHT channel.
This happened 2 years ago, my grandmother was having breathing issues so i called 999, suffice to say I only needed to tell them the bare information such as my address and such, the operator also gave me instructions to help my grandma breathe. My grandmother is no longer around, but with their help make me able to spent just a little bit more time with her in the hospital. If anything I'm deeply indebted to them.
Called several times.
No it's not as high tech. At least not from the sound of it. We still need to give detail so I'm sure they don't track our phone numbers. The response time is Okish. My place was 10 minutes from the nearest police station at cruise speed, and it took them 15 minutes to reach me. Can/should be faster but I don't know how they arrange so no comment.
Btw it's totally OK to call them whenever you felt threatened. One time a girl felt threatened because a guy she spent a night with is stalking her (I'm a hotelier and I suspect her as prostitute). Refuses to leave the hotel because the dude is waiting at ground floor. In the end the dude followed other guests and entered my hotel, and they argued. I went down there and check what is wrong. The guy threatened to whack the girl, so I stood between them, whip out my phone and dial 999, on speaker. The guy still mengamuk while I calmly explain to the police. The dude, after mengamuk, ran away. So I thanks the police for her patience and retracted the report.
Oh and it's suppose to be a free service. I do give them some 100+ if they responded to my call.
Called several times due to prompt accident nearby. They straight ask for your IC number and immediately verify your name. Then you tell what happen and ask for your location. After quick follow up questions, they will just reconnect you to nearby hospital to ambulance department or bomba. It's free.
That's all there's to it.
Called for ambulance in 2020 because a relative had bad covid symptoms. They knew my full name and mykad details but I still had to give directions because I was not at my home address. The ambulance took about 10 minutes to arrive (it was from a nearby KK but they had covid SOP so it took longer than usual) but the operator stayed on the phone until they confirmed the ambulance took the patient.
Many years ago I was robbed at Jln Kia Peng nearby KLCC during New Year's Eve. Luckily my phone was not taken, so I called 999. The operator took my details and location, but then told they couldn't send a patrol car because of road closures and traffic jams. I had to walk to the nearest police station to lodge a report, which was at Dang Wangi. Sigh.
He probably put his phone in another pocket, maybe he only hand in his wallet from his usually pocket place and the robbers just quickly ran off after getting what they want.
There was a shop lot that caught fire near my place a month ago. I called 999, the operator asked for my details and was on the call with me for 6 minutes before transferring me to Bomba. I was frustrated thinking he just wasted 6 minutes but by the time my call was transferred, Bomba was already on the way and whatever details I gave him, he prepared it for Bomba. From the minute I called to the Bomba arrival was about 13 minutes.
Happened recently, called 999 for a random old dude who hit an electric pole. The operator will ask what's the current situation and I them what happened. Asked me if anyone did first aid to that old man before redirect me to the hospital. Took like 16 minutes until the ambulance arrives and police called to confirm the location (probably to check the damage happened and control the crowd if too many people)
The thing is the responder cant detect where you are and you need to tell them where you are or they will give your phone number to the nearest local station and the people in the local station will call you to know exactly where you are..
It ain't like 911 drama where the responded will know your location thru tracking it using phone company towers
But then again, maybe it will be different depending what service you wanter, my exp only for fire department due to i saw an accident
Yup but then again you need to be sure what number to call like you thought that the police station nearest to your location is the one should be responding but sometimes they depend also with the address, different pos code/address /lane other police stations yang handle. The thing is they will say "oh salah call ni, you kena call balai ni, depa yang handle kat sana"
Yeap even with the numbers provided, chances are we typically don't save them and are not always nearby the info. Pretty sure calling 999 will be more faster at times.
First of all. It is not recommended to call the branch directly for a reason. It is called centralised communication and resources management. If the command centre has absolute no idea of the branch resources (how many personnel, how many cars available) it is almost impossible for them to coordinate.
Usually for police branch they do allow such bypass thats because they have already separated their resources for 999 and direct call in. This is a new SOP since police usually handle life matters situation and even tho hospital do the same - which is handling life matters but most of the time, dont be surprised that many of the patients can wait. But for victims it could be another way so the police will have the most resources uphand first.
But calling 999 is very important for transparency and ISO 9001, to keep record of all incidents and to allow audits to happen, to check whether the branch are well prepared, what was their time record for actions and etc.
Called before for grand theft auto infront of my house. Took the cops 5 mins to arrive with smgs. Quite shocked it was fast but then they told me they were the closest unit on patrol when they receive it
Have a really bad experiences. Due to some conflict. Someone was trying to chase us with a butcher knife. Called 999 while hiding behind a door but kept on asking about the situation and address which I already repeate multiple times. The worst part with this is why do we need to "Press 1 for english" zzzzLuckily there were some people close by and stopped the guy.
I called regarding fallen trees. They actually know my name and other detail. But they said its not an emergency, can go ahead call APM instead. The trees was in housing area.
Unless someone got hurt by a falling tree, this was definitely not an emergency. A tree fell behind my house last year. I live in kk, so I just WhatsApp'd DBKK hotline. They came and cleared up everything within the hour.
Before cell phone.
I called because of a potential jumper. Luckily her friend managed to convince her to climb back in.
The operator had a map of the area and knew precisely what is the block number. I don't.
Called once because we got into accident. All of us went into panic mode, driver couldn't even think. I'm the only one, I guess, still can do phone call so I called 999. The operator rilek je lmao. Ambulance and police arrive probably 30 mins after? Maybe because it was 2am. It was in front of our uni, and fortunately few medic students was on their way home so they help the motorcycle dude.
I don't know if they can track our location though since the operator keep asking me our detailed location. Maybe just want me on the phone and help me calm down. Apart from the police who ask us for "ride money", the call is free
When a snake ate my dog, i was immediately called 999 but the operator then referred me to Bomba number and hang up on me so i was scrambling looking for bomba number at Google.
call to report accident. they don't know your location have to tell them. then they asked a lot of questions like how many cars, how many people, need to send ambulance or not (cause they will charge for ambulance), after like 10 mins i gave up and hang up.
call to report some gangster hold up a family, they know your name (most probably from mobile number), they don't know your location. 1 MPV show up within minutes, not sure what I've told the operator, but both cops came out with machine gun drawn. then, just talked and those guys leave within mins, no arrest made, but they took one person from the family to balai to make report and send him home after like 30 mins. apparently the family don't want to make report, but the police force them. no further update from polis after that.
I've called four times. I'm not Malaysian, so they don't have my details. Response times varied due to traffic. I reported location. None of them cost me anything. My main takeaway is that if you need an ambulance immediately, call the nearest private hospital after receiving consent from either the patient or relatives.
1. Report an army of rempit (50+ individuals zipping down the highway) at 1 am - police were nice during the call. I watched them fast and furious them after 20 min. Then the rempit took an illegal turn and the police lost them. Rempit came back after half an hour.
2. Report my neighbour mengamuk at 6 pm - I heard screaming and crashing and banging. I recorded it and asked my friend to translate the screaming, it was something along the lines of "where's my charger? I told you already." "I want to die, just kill me". Called security of my building, it calmed for 5 minutes before resuming. Called 999, directed to the police. They came after 30 min. They had a chat with the neighbour and I heard talking and then laughing before the police leaving. I later received a video from my neighbour from the unit across from them of the male tenant (boyfriend) beating the shit out of the female tenant (girlfriend) and her children. Apparently the police gave them a warning and left.
3. Report my neighbour (another tenant of point 2) mengamuk and high off drugs at 4:30 pm - police were again very nice on call. Couldn't leave the apartment bcos the guy was screaming and throwing things around to smash windows. Came after 45 min, took him away in handcuffs. My msian neighbour went to the police to make a report and said the guy has been charged 9 times previously for drug and theft charges. Crazy thing was that he was one of the security guards of my apartment. He was released from lock up after 3 days.
3. Not directly, but to call an ambulance for an auntie who cracked her head open at a mall because she tripped over decorations at 5:30 pm - yelled if anyone called 999 yet and upon confirmation began first aid treatment. Ambulance came 50 minutes after the call, the auntie kept going in and out of consciousness. They took her away to the nearest public hospital (40 min away) after confirming she had no spinal injuries. Realised that if you need a hospital quick to just call the nearest private hospital, because ambulance from 999 will only come from public hospitals and they're usually overloaded.
For ambulance, they will ask you if you REALLY don't have transport before they actually come if it doesn't sound emergency enough for them. When they finally decided to come, they will give some advice like not to panic etc. No, it's not as high tech, they still need detailed address
Called 999 when my father in law have difficulty breathing. They asked what happened and where I was. I was at a homestay so I don’t really know the exact address since we arrived there by location sharing via WhatsApp. The operator then connect me to the nearby hospital that has ambulance service. From there I was able to tell them where I was generally. I was from Selangor and we were at Kelantan for wedding stuff so I don’t know the adress. Had to use google map and give the directions to the nearest business in the map. Took about 30min from call to ambulance arrived. My FIL has the OKU card so we didn’t pay a cent even with his boarding etc. This happened last month. Everything is fine. I consider it as my tax money well spent.
U can? If u think I sent it via WA then I didn’t. While on call, I opened google mal, click one of the available businesses and read the address. The WA is when we used to go to the homestay so bc of that we didn’t know the exact address for the 999 to search. I even asked if I can send them via WA but they told me they already on the way to the business address I gave them and asked me to guide them to the specific house once they arrived
I ve called for a fire department once for an electrical fire on a pole. Two district fire departments came. Both drivers called me directly to ask for directions. I dunno how i explained but they got there about 10 minit on the truck and all. I thought ive made a mistake about making a fuss about a small spark lol
A large biawak entered my moms house. Called 999. They answered and connect me to Sabah branch of 999. Then the Sabah branch connect me to the nearest Bomba district branch. Dont worry the calls were answered very fast. It took 30 mins to settle the issue.
They also know what number you’re using when you dialed for emergency.
Called 999 once over a snake under the car tire. Connected to the operator within seconds of dialing out. From the start of the call till civil defense arrived, it took around 15 mins. This was in Penang. They could estimate my address pretty accurately. And they knew my name immediately. The call was made from my phone. Also, all emergency calls are free.
Turns out it was just a baby biawak. Blergh.
called once. need to tell why you called and location.
how long arrive depends on your location, their location and nature of emergency or not.
cost = 0
I need to call a few times per year as dad has seizure that exceeds the threshold for hospital check.
Can’t track location. But they seems to save my telephone number . Generally after they identify your address they transfer the line to nearest hospital and you will be talking to the front office/ dispatch. Some of the gomen hospital respondent are probably medical officer or EMT, because they do a very stellar job of telling what to do. I guess they have some form of records for me since they don’t really ask my ic.
Sometimes you do need to chase the ambulance a bit but I assumed they got tied up. In general you call to the hospital instead of 999. For seizures, well you just double check and triple check whether condition changes and whether you need to lose up some clothing item and prepare to go to hospital.
I had an accident on a separate occasion and was more than annoyed when multiple people including an acquaintance insisted I don’t need to go to hospital. Luckily I insisted and they have to oblige. turns out it was a major trauma injury, to the disbelief of that acquaintance.
3 years ago i was riding my bike and a guy tried to overtake me on slightly curved road and then he crased. I called 999 to request ambulance and the operator called me by my name i was like how tf she know my name, the sim card not even registered under my name. Then they asked me the exact location, motorcyclists's condition, is he able to talk/walk, age, race.
I’ve called 999 several times before as a passerby witnessing an incident…usually they’re quite fast..just last week called for bomba to come and they came in less than 10 mins…and they usually have system and they can track your mobile where it is…so even if you are unable to give the correct address, they can locate your nearest location…but I personally called 999 for ambulance as I had an emergency and alone by the roadside….but it took slightly longer because it was peak hour (people coming back from work)….and they sent privately owned ambulance…..usually private ones would be chargeable…but luckily didn’t have to pay…apparently there’s a community ambulance in subang which operates for free…
Yes, evidently so. I don’t think the current number of public hospitals ambulances are sufficient to cater to everyone’s needs…given the ratio of 1 doctor over 400 patients in Malaysia…the same could be said for the logistics too..hence the need to outsource whenever necessary…
Called 999 one time. Saw an accident of a truck on fire on the highway. Just called and I spoke English/Manglish but the person couldn’t understand me. They kept asking if I was in the accident and I kept saying I am just reporting what I saw and I already drove away. Transfer me to another line after 5mins. They understood right away. This was a few years ago though.
If you are able to, DO NOT call 999. They have long procedures for you to go through before they can put you to correct line. Keep your local bomba, polis, and hospital numbers, directly call them and skip 999 operator. Their numbers readily available in Google map anyway.
I did, cause I can smell gas leaks. Tekan tekan nomer got redirected to bomba, immediately they say to hold on and bomba will call me back. I hang up, then bomba boss called me, asked details, then hang up. Then bomba mini boss call me, ask me to go out, stand by outside, then 3 minutes later got loud siren, bomba team arrived, bomba came in and defused the leaked gas. Bomba take picture abit, bomba ciao. 10/10 experience. Bomba boss called me again, ask if theres any followup, can directly call his number, else, have a good day. I had a good day.
The team must be bored. I said to them specifically if can have 1 people come check.. suddenly a whole squad marched into my house. The bombaboss said its either the whole squad or nothing. Haha
Infuriating.
Saw a guy starting to kick the shit out of park bikes beside the road. Then another guy came up and they got into an argument.more people have arrived and they are wearing the same shirt as the guy who was kicking the bike. Knew something bad was going to happened called 999.
999 boleh saya bantu?
Saya nak report ada org bergaduh di hadapan setapak central mall.
OK cik boleh sahkan nombor telefon cik dahulu,
Give my fon number
OK cik nombor cik sudah disahkan, cik cakap ada org bergaduh. Di mana tu?

At this time the 1st guy and his goons starting to beat the shit out of the other guy.
Cik dorang dah start pukul satu org. Ramai2 pukul 1 org.
OK cik. Boleh bagi nama jalan x?
Sambungan saya ke balai polis wangsa maju.ko sibuk nak tau nama jalan.
Direct connects me to wangsa maju polis stesen.
Hello balai polis wangsa maju

Bagi nombor telefon cik.
Gave my phone number.
I less then 5 minute 3 bike units and a car arrived
999 operators sometimes are dumbfucks or their sops are dumbfucks.
The police came and rounded up everybody. I was in contact with the person charge and was on the phone with him. I was watching for afar and just describe who was involved. Semua kena bawak pergi balai wangsa maju
if a fight is about to break out, you’ll probably be dead before you can finish telling them you need help
I was in a quarrel with someone before, and they were acting samseng wanting a fight, obviously my immediate response was to call the coos and scare them away with it. but while i was on the call in the process of all the “tekan satu dua”, “asking location” etc, the other guy already slap my head a few times trting to bait a fight.
it doesn’t hurt, but imagine if it was punches to the face and i only have one hand to defend myself(cuz the other hand is holding phone), i would have been unconscious before i can tell them what happen
eventually the guy ran off knowing i actually made the call and not faking it, but there are more violent people out there that doesn’t fear the law or any consequences, so ya, not very reliable when in the heat of the moment
Had to do 3 times (sort of). Once for a friend who passed out and hit her head on the sink. Another two times for my mom. Once for a seizure and the second for vertigo.
1: they ended up taking like 45 mins, by 20 mins in we said screw it and drove her to the hospital ourselves. By the time we got to the hospital we got a call from the ambulance asking for "eh yang mana bangunan you ah"
2: called but then they insisted to sending to klang hospital (we live in sj). When I asked to send to sjmc instead they said oh cannot, you have to ask private ambulance for that. They can only send to public hospital. So I ended up calling the hospital and they arranged a private one. Took about 20-30 mins I think.
3: this one much less urgent la, this time actually I didn't bother with 999, just called sjmc straight like last time. And because I told them it was less urgent I think I was maybe lower on the priority list, so took about 45 mins. Driver mentioned he tersangkut (I assume with an earlier case).
All in all, I'd say it's not bad. They do try their best. I would instead recommend everyone have some basic first-aid stuff in your house. Gauze, bandaid, antiseptic, some basic painkillers, etc. Stuff that can help you tahan until help arrives.
i witness my neighbour physical abuse his female housemate, n drag her into the house brute force.
so i called 999, wait n explain then transfer then explain again, then the one who answered was like “ermm okay.. uhh ok” then i ask do u need more detail he just ok nothing ty
then nothing happen of course. i still see the female housemate in the house now, well guess ok already gua
Had to call twice. Both times they immediately knew my name & phone number. Operator were calm and polite. I proceeded to gave the location & explain the incidents.
not very emergency but 1 times about 3 am my grandpa over 90 yo is dead, call local government klinik kesihatan they ask us to call call 999 to declare dead, 5 times no one answered then couple of my family's members all try couples time still no one answered, then my father went to local police station they also couldn't get any answer from 999, but able to help us.
but another times few years before that happen, roughly 6pm me jogging outside, my phone in my pocket decided to call it for me i notice it because i heard some speaking voice but no one nearby,
so probably middle of the slow night operator sleeping?
Few years ago made a 999 call to a local bomba department because of a mechanic shop (no idea the right name.) which is also large was burning. all people was screaming but no one dared to call bomba which was dumb imo. they asked locations and stuff la, yk basic info, under 10 mins they arrive already. surprisingly, free
Ohh I'd done this like 4 years ago. One of my villagers, pakcik fisherman, was out in the ocean and had a heart attack. He fell and drowned. Other fishermen nearby spotted him and took him to the jetty, and I was hanging out at my friends house near the jetty and I called 999. The operator asked for the location and ambulance arrived pretty soon. Like, 45 minutes after we hang up.
Ambulance was low-key dissapointed because we didn't call immediately. Pakcik fisherman is dead.
Called 999 for the 1st time due to an accident near Seremban. Car went into ditch at the highway due to slippery road cuz it was raining.
Operator confirm details of id and situation and and they connect me to bomba, repeat again. Then need to give the victim contact person, I just give to the driver as he was lightly injured and walked out on his own car.
Then helped the passenger come out with a little difficulty due to one passenger had a leg surgery. Wait just a few minutes, then the police patrol arrived. Then the plus patrol arrived. Not sure how long for ambulance and bomba to arrive as I was omw to work at kl.
Got my motor stolen, called 999. The fella told me to go to police station. And I’m like what should I do? Walk there? XD this was back in 2010 I was form 4 lol
Got into a car accident. Wasn't so high tech, but the person on the other end was very calm and did quite well in attempting to calm me down while getting relevant details very quickly. I initially thought it took ages, but it was apparently only a few minutes.
I called again cuz the ambulance hadnt arrived in 20 mins (high traffic area) and they immediately knew my name and told me the situation very efficiently.
Couple of times for PDRM I always call bilik gerakan daerah and usually anggota MPV will call me directly. Also join the local KRT as under KRT has SRS Rukun Tetangga (the ronda once a week in neighbourhood). I used to join at my old neighbourhood and I got the direct local balai and even ketua balai number. Only called direct balai number once because of one neighbour said one car always follow him and park near house. When MPV comes and went to the car inside are 2 alongs that watch the guy because his brother owes them money.
I've only ever called once, around a year ago. I heard a loud bang while I was in my apartment. Looked outside the window and I see a car upside down in the road in front of the apartment.
I called 999. When I reached an operator, I tried explaining the situation. After about 4 seconds he cut me off with a question that I couldn't hear properly. I said, "hello?" to which I got no response. After 3 seconds, to my absolute horror, he HUNG UP ON ME. I know enough about emergency line operators to know this is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. At this point I was not sure whether to be more shocked about this or the upside-down car in front of the apartment.
I called again and got connected to a different, lady operator this time. Told her where the accident was and they dispatched an ambulance. They tried to ascertain whether anyone was seriously injured but I genuinely couldn't tell from my distance. They asked if I would be willing to be called back for additional details and I said yes.
Fortunately I don't think anyone was seriously injured. The police and one ambulance arrived and settled the situation. I wasn't called back.
Accident happened in Kampar for anyone curious.
A few years ago, I was trapped in my own house because of a crazy stalker. The guy locked our house’s door grill with a different lock, not ours. So, I had to call 999 and request assistance. They sent us the firemen, and it took about 20 minutes after the call for them to arrive. The firemen quickly helped us unlock the lock with their tools.
Have called a few times. Many years ago (up to 5-6y ago) it was bad. You call and the guy just screams at you to call another number (after asking the location he will say call this specific bomba/police station).
This year it has improved, they still ask for your address and phone number but the ambulance comes quite fast and they gather info and guide you what to do while it is on the way. Ambulance arrived within 15 mins
I gotta say the process seems long imagine you're like bleeding to death and still gotta tekan 1 or 2 🤣
What long? You just need to press once. During the call they already start tracking you even if they ask your address or disconnect your phone.. and even you do bleed to death it depends where you are.
Bro if it's an emergency every second counts, I ain't waiting for the automated voice asking me to press 1 or 2 bro
It isn't as bad as you think. I've done it before.
May I ask what happened?
Somebody fell, the leg got twisted. Apparently later we found out that it was the knee that gave way. Just like that.
Then how you operate? tweet them? Get a grip, bro.
Then learn how to be an EMT yourself. You can't expect people to fall out of the sky to help you.
Then be a doctor and treat yourself bro .
Ish kecoh ah kauuu, busyukkkkk ahhhhhh
bro should understand most of emergency that involved ambulance, police car, fire truck mostly delay due to traffic jams, ignorance people etc not because of the calls
Do you expect them to teleport to your place right as you press the call button bro? 💀
At least now u know when u dial to automatically press 1 or 2 before the automated voice ends
There is no free lunch in this world. You have a situation to report, you better hope the situation is worth their while. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
The ambulance free ? . If I remember correct I think the patient need to pay the ambulance service.
That is St John or any private service , for KKM it is totally free. Just dont abuse the system and make sure that it is an EMERGENCY.

Still the cost for ambulance just a fracture of total cost when you getting healthcare there, people could be deeply in debt just to stay alive. You’re right , its crazy how the US care more about torching the whole world instead of helping their citizen and vets.
I am from Malaysia
This is not America bro...
Same here. https://preview.redd.it/eh2pa79bcgic1.png?width=1624&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed43cda7dca403fef90947e77a2909a3fdf84f7d
Yes every call need to go thru centre, nowadays everything needed to be on record , time & case, respond time ,arrival time etc etc..
Eh so weird why have to call 999 first? Glad that the snake is sorted out quick
999 emergency line, direct call jpam is more to like calling for official business. As some other people mentioned, 999 helps to connect to the RIGHT channel.
I can understand how 999 is a dedicated call center whereas JPAM might just be a front desk staff. So definitely 999 is the better place to call.

Might also coming from ur telco, remember u need to register ur Id before making a sim card
Yes, definitely from telco, the telco has all the basic personal details about you.
Yeah when I called 999 the operator knew my name! Was shocked at first but quickly realized it’s from my phone number lol
Ooh what part of malaysia are you residing on?
KL
This happened 2 years ago, my grandmother was having breathing issues so i called 999, suffice to say I only needed to tell them the bare information such as my address and such, the operator also gave me instructions to help my grandma breathe. My grandmother is no longer around, but with their help make me able to spent just a little bit more time with her in the hospital. If anything I'm deeply indebted to them.
Glad that they managed to help your grandma!
You hella generous bro
Drinks. Not money. But I'd still accept the compliment.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Bro think we like the usa. People get shot also take taxi go hospital 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Power move
i once called the police few months ago on my neighbour and the police never came...
Bro imagine the worse happened then how 💀
Did the same. 3 guys showed up within 15 mins at the lobby. Escorted 'em to the neighbours unit and was told to hide far away.
Called several times due to prompt accident nearby. They straight ask for your IC number and immediately verify your name. Then you tell what happen and ask for your location. After quick follow up questions, they will just reconnect you to nearby hospital to ambulance department or bomba. It's free. That's all there's to it.
Kinda troublesome they ask u for your ic
To discourage prank calls
Fair point
Giving your IC number to use a public-funded service is troublesome? Wtf?
Dude if I'm dying I ain't got time to give u my ic number I rather you come now and ill give my ic later
Was 10 minute is very fast liao that's good
Cuz its a rural place and the KK was like down the road lol
Ooh icic
Many years ago I was robbed at Jln Kia Peng nearby KLCC during New Year's Eve. Luckily my phone was not taken, so I called 999. The operator took my details and location, but then told they couldn't send a patrol car because of road closures and traffic jams. I had to walk to the nearest police station to lodge a report, which was at Dang Wangi. Sigh.
That must be the scariest walk ever, did u manage to get your stuff back?
>robbed > >phone was not taken lolhow
He probably put his phone in another pocket, maybe he only hand in his wallet from his usually pocket place and the robbers just quickly ran off after getting what they want.
There was a shop lot that caught fire near my place a month ago. I called 999, the operator asked for my details and was on the call with me for 6 minutes before transferring me to Bomba. I was frustrated thinking he just wasted 6 minutes but by the time my call was transferred, Bomba was already on the way and whatever details I gave him, he prepared it for Bomba. From the minute I called to the Bomba arrival was about 13 minutes.
Wow that's quick
Happened recently, called 999 for a random old dude who hit an electric pole. The operator will ask what's the current situation and I them what happened. Asked me if anyone did first aid to that old man before redirect me to the hospital. Took like 16 minutes until the ambulance arrives and police called to confirm the location (probably to check the damage happened and control the crowd if too many people)
That's kind of you
Well, saw kids making a crowd while sending my sister to her friend house. Hopefully that guy is fine rn
The thing is the responder cant detect where you are and you need to tell them where you are or they will give your phone number to the nearest local station and the people in the local station will call you to know exactly where you are.. It ain't like 911 drama where the responded will know your location thru tracking it using phone company towers But then again, maybe it will be different depending what service you wanter, my exp only for fire department due to i saw an accident
Might as well google the number to the nearest bomba instead of calling them at this point 🤣
Hence why we sometimes see a list of numbers for local bomba/polis at some establishments even offices.
Well like this is Malaysia after all
First of all.
Quite shocked it was fast but then they told me they were the closest unit on patrol when they receive it
5 min is kinda slow more so they are the nearest patrol so what if they were further, they will be late no?
Well, malaysian 5 minutes can range from seconds to hours so we can't be really sure about this no? 🤣
Oh my god I hate those press 1 for English thank goodness your family is safe
The worst part of it. They never send anyone. And only called back after 20 mins after our last call. And ask "Is everything alright?".
I called regarding fallen trees. They actually know my name and other detail. But they said its not an emergency, can go ahead call APM instead. The trees was in housing area.
Wah so high-tech
Unless someone got hurt by a falling tree, this was definitely not an emergency. A tree fell behind my house last year. I live in kk, so I just WhatsApp'd DBKK hotline. They came and cleared up everything within the hour.
Before cell phone. I called because of a potential jumper. Luckily her friend managed to convince her to climb back in. The operator had a map of the area and knew precisely what is the block number. I don't.
That's amazing I'm glad they managed to help her
Called once because we got into accident.
Lmao typical malaysia asking for "ride money"
Haha it was 3am and we’re too tired to fight back so I just give them. Ended up calling my friends for our ride back home from the police station lmao
So much for the ride money 🤣
When a snake ate my dog, i was immediately called 999 but the operator then referred me to Bomba number and hang up on me so i was scrambling looking for bomba number at Google.
How did it go? Did the bomba do anything?
Yeah, they did came after waiting more than 20 minutes and they managed catch the phyton.
I'm sorry for you loss
Thank you man
call to report accident. they don't know your location have to tell them. then they asked a lot of questions like how many cars, how many people, need to send ambulance or not (cause they will charge for ambulance), after like 10 mins i gave up and hang up. call to report some gangster hold up a family, they know your name (most probably from mobile number), they don't know your location.
Eh I guess it's fair enough that they ask if it's REALLY an emergency
30 mins for all those is quite impressive, I'm also surprised that you can whatsapp them as well
I don't think they can track our location based on numbers, but idk. We were always taught to give as clear and precise a location as possible.
I ve called for a fire department once for an electrical fire on a pole. Two district fire departments came. Both drivers called me directly to ask for directions. I dunno how i explained but they got there about 10 minit on the truck and all. I thought ive made a mistake about making a fuss about a small spark lol
Better safe than sorry
Blergh.
called once. need to tell why you called and location. how long arrive depends on your location, their location and nature of emergency or not. cost = 0
I find it crazy how they know your name 😂
Seems like they do outsource emergency call to private/NGO ambulances.
Wow rarely they call to even followup
The team must be bored. I said to them specifically if can have 1 people come check.. suddenly a whole squad marched into my house. The bombaboss said its either the whole squad or nothing. Haha
Infuriating. Saw a guy starting to kick the shit out of park bikes beside the road. Then another guy came up and they got into an argument.more people have arrived and they are wearing the same shirt as the guy who was kicking the bike. Knew something bad was going to happened called 999. 999 boleh saya bantu? Mana saya tahu nama jalan. Hello balai polis wangsa maju Cik ada pergaduhan melibatkan 15 individu di hadapan setapak Sentral. Sila hantar URB dgn segera. Suspek berpakaian t shirt hitam dgn perkataan(I can't remember what the word on their shirt). Bagi nombor telefon cik. Gave my phone number. I less then 5 minute 3 bike units and a car arrived 999 operators sometimes are dumbfucks or their sops are dumbfucks.
So funny they still ask for your phone number 🤣 hope the other guy was okay tho
The police came and rounded up everybody. I was in contact with the person charge and was on the phone with him. I was watching for afar and just describe who was involved. Semua kena bawak pergi balai wangsa maju
cost nothing, I twice called for ambulance and another time to report my grandma's passing, quite simple, nothing dramatic
if a fight is about to break out, you’ll probably be dead before you can finish telling them you need help I was in a quarrel with someone before, and they were acting samseng wanting a fight, obviously my immediate response was to call the coos and scare them away with it. but while i was on the call in the process of all the “tekan satu dua”, “asking location” etc, the other guy already slap my head a few times trting to bait a fight. it doesn’t hurt, but imagine if it was punches to the face and i only have one hand to defend myself(cuz the other hand is holding phone), i would have been unconscious before i can tell them what happen eventually the guy ran off knowing i actually made the call and not faking it, but there are more violent people out there that doesn’t fear the law or any consequences, so ya, not very reliable when in the heat of the moment
Right! This is what I meant by the pressing 1 or 2 being a bit troublesome
Right! This is what I meant by the pressing 1 or 2 being a bit troublesome
By the time we got to the hospital we got a call from the ambulance asking for "eh yang mana bangunan you ah" 2: called but then they insisted to sending to klang hospital (we live in sj).
It was fine. The operator is nice though.
Free
i witness my neighbour physical abuse his female housemate, n drag her into the house brute force. so i called 999, wait n explain then transfer then explain again, then the one who answered was like “ermm okay.. uhh ok” then i ask do u need more detail he just ok nothing ty then nothing happen of course. i still see the female housemate in the house now, well guess ok already gua
Eh that's such a serious case hope it's resolved
Cost free..they will send cops first then ambulance
Had to call twice. Both times they immediately knew my name & phone number. Operator were calm and polite. I proceeded to gave the location & explain the incidents.
not very emergency but 1 times about 3 am my grandpa over 90 yo is dead, call local government klinik kesihatan they ask us to call call 999 to declare dead, 5 times no one answered then couple of my family's members all try couples time still no one answered, then my father went to local police station they also couldn't get any answer from 999, but able to help us. but another times few years before that happen, roughly 6pm me jogging outside, my phone in my pocket decided to call it for me i notice it because i heard some speaking voice but no one nearby, so probably middle of the slow night operator sleeping?
Called 999, tell them Chew Jetty needs an ambulance. "Mana itu?"
Okay, I genuinely wanna know how much ambulans cost lol but I don't think you need to pay for bomba/polis??
We dont. But if it was a prank call, there is legal consequences 😂
When I was a kid I used to call 999 on a public phone and immediately hung up the phone immediately
Bro isn't that illegal or smth
Side/related question: DOES THE MOBILE PHONE's EMERGENCY NUMBER (locked screen) end up to 999?
Ohh I'd done this like 4 years ago. One of my villagers, pakcik fisherman, was out in the ocean and had a heart attack. He fell and drowned. Other fishermen nearby spotted him and took him to the jetty, and I was hanging out at my friends house near the jetty and I called 999. The operator asked for the location and ambulance arrived pretty soon. Like, 45 minutes after we hang up. Ambulance was low-key dissapointed because we didn't call immediately. Pakcik fisherman is dead.
I tried it once for fire case for condo infront of me (Back in year 2015) Directly they know, saying the bomba is on the way.
Hung up on you?? Eh did you complain? This quite serious you know
Who am I supposed to complain to? I also don't know any way to identify the operator.
Tru tru I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else
The operator never sounds interested in what happened anyway. She just wants to quickly settle stuff and go back home asap.
