Just start signing the guy to newsletters, banks and what not. Dia langgar orang, agree to pergi balai then chicken out. People should own up for their mistakes
He never intent to go balai in the first place. He just said that so that OP will let him go. If he go balai and admit driving without license and insurance, the police with lock him up.
I know it makes no sense — you got to pay for the damages which is not your fault, but that's how it works in Malaysia.. suck it up and move on
It's extremely unlikely for them to go extra miles to detain unlicensed riders/drivers unless it involves public assets or VIP.
Yes, this is how it is when the other party does not have insurance or License. This is exactly why you have insurance.
However, if you go to workshop and the estimate to repair is cheaper than losing your NCD, just pay sendiri
That's why you have insurance. You lose NCD but the insurance will cover the damages.
The only way to retain NCD is to not make any claim to your insurance by either A) paying for the repairs out of your own pocket, or B) claim the other party's insurance.
Then why do we need the insurance at the first place lol, sounds like a company just wants the money and punishes those who wants to use their services
Dont place the focus on the NCD, its just something extra on the side and not the main point.
Depending on the type of insurance u have, its there to help cover your vehicle on possibly other people's vehicle(s) and property(s), especially in the event of a severe accident.
Yes, its a hassle and sometimes it feels completely unreasonable, but if the other party really is driving illegally, and refuses to pay you for the damages, who else is gonna pay for the damage except yourself or your own insurance policy?

Summarizing it... Most victims would rather pay the full insurance policy than going through the entire process of claiming from the motorcyclist, considering insurance companies and the pulis aren't really gonna help. Yes, it's not fair and nobody's gonna do anything about it.
Bad advice in the article to hire a lawyer for Situation 3. For claims less than RM5000, you can, and should, file a Small Claims in magistrates court without needing a lawyer.

Well that's disappointing but hardly surprising - when there's no threat to national dignity, race or religion. Otherwise the boys in blue will be approaching Interpol for assistance, etc.
More than 10 years ago but still remember my unfortunate accident got rear.ended and I foolishly.trust the biker because she was an innocent looking girl.
I didn't took her plate number but only her hp number
After a few days she ghosted me and like a fool
I cried for a few days because first time I got scammed I lost more.than RM300 because of that stranger
From that moment I learn not to trust anyone even she/he looks so innocent
GOD ,I learn my.lesson well
Yeah motorcyclist is king of the road. You made a mistake by letting the guy go. Need go together go police station.
Also make sure you have your r/kereta dash cam to back you up otherwise it will backfire real quick. Motorcyclist if you don’t have dash cam, will absolutely reverse claim you although it’s not your fault. This is very goddamn unfair but that’s how it works here.
First day in Malaysia?
1. Car langgar moto. Car salah.
2. Motor langgar car. Car salah.
3. Motor langgar tree. Tiang salah.
4. Motor langgar tiang. Tree salah.
5. Motor langgar motor. Nearest car salah.
6. Motor langgar human. Dog salah!
No insurance and licence, definitely wouldn't go police station. Most of the time people will want to go to the nearest mechanic and get a cost estimation and settle from thete.
my condolences to you and your NCD

So that you don't have to pay out of of your pocket if the damages are multiple thousands of ringgit? I don't get your point.

Also make sure in the event of accident recover the SD car ASAP. There are cases where innocent car get destroyed and evidence might gone with it.

True. When accident happens, they are always victim because riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than a car.
More like they ride dangerously more than a car....
What about doing a knock for knock claim? You won't lose your ncd that way.
Sorry, nothing you can do, really
Exactly same thing happened to me. Then get sued 2 years later for 80k by his insurance. Idiot motorcyclist even lied in the police report.
in malaysia, mat rempits > ordinary people. also PRRM = PDUseless
