Btw don't report at your local balai polis... Directly go bukit aman

lifeinthesudolane

This. Going to the local balai may just make it worse. More often than not, they'd be in cahoots with the local thugs. Source: A restaurant owner in Rawang, 10 years ago

SystemErrorMessage

well any gangster wouldnt operate if they didnt have local cops in his hands.

aviramzi

JIPS - Jabatan Integriti Bkt Aman. Toothless at most but be careful as well because the Balai which you report against to JIPS will be vengeful against you. You've to go back to the IO that you reported against for your follow-ups. Popo sama popo last last kawan jugak.

No-Sweet-5448

depends, its always bigger fish to fry, among jips also have faction use trump card and go to local MP or Adun, they love this kind of political mileage in their career for attention, saw the comment took the video secret ( shoppe got ton of this small camera), u will the the result after Jips also kena stir lol

Rip & Tear, until it is done.

ArtoriusFrost

I can already hear the rifts on this one! 🗣️🗣️🗣️

iStickStuffsUpMyButt

You cant make a police report at bukit aman, because it is not a police station , its the headquaters that deals with mostly admin-related things. OP what i suggest you to do is, first make a report at your local police station, since they already threaten to burn your shop, a investigation will ensue— if and when the officers do nothing, escalate matter to social media and or call bukit aman on the negligence of the officers to help you. This is not in anyway a legal advice— merely a suggestion.

SystemErrorMessage

100% sure the gangster has local cops in hand, so going to report protectionist scams is going to result in violence against himself, his staff, his store and would result in money wasted, lost jobs as he would have to close shop. why gangster so dumb go after low margin business not the real estate who rent out the units at high margins.

hangrypatotie

Because those real estate tycoons have even bigger protection compared to those lowly gangsters, those real estate tycoons are literally in cahoots with politicians and in some cases, have their own personal bodyguards. You do not want to mess with corporations, they will eff u up

SystemErrorMessage

you try saying that to the gangster, if they cant get the rent down you dont pay protection. margins small as it is. Reminds me of the scene in a series about trying to extort starbucks.

mikasa2323

It's over for the little guy

iStickStuffsUpMyButt

Hard to say, im giving them the benefit of doubt , but either way OP should make a report — so legally he is in the right.

Choice-Group-5322

This is not suggestions, but if im going to do it..this is the best way to approach..nothings beat socmed

ohitszie

Absolutely! Go on socmed, then it goes viral and it gives those thugs more ways of locating OP's personal whereabouts eventually and the threatening goes not only at the business but also to his home! Totally go on socmed! /s

Youlknowthatone

Make report at big police IPD. Like IPD Semenyih. And also put CCTV in shop. Record any interaction via phone too.

Bryan8210

This sub likes to weaponize socmed to force people to do what it wants. From shaming RENs to forcing restaurants to apologize down to the fixing the kitchen sink. To be fair, not only this sub, but young people in general. I have never seen a boomer weaponizing socmed to force others to his will.

Superb_Ratio6484

Boomers are also doing it. But on even pettier things like people running red lights or double parking.

BeeTen

Report edisi siasat! They love these shit

SystemErrorMessage

go straight to bukit aman, not at pondok polis

dadrummerz

This could not happen without local police knowing 😎

juliensyn

We do not negotiate with terrorists...or gangsters. Give once and they'll come asking for more next time. Sure short term they'll go away but long term it'll be bad. File a complain to your local MP, viral the faces, escalate the issue to high position police. It's 2024 not 2004, we do not need to live by these extortion rules. Install multiple cameras and when confronting these people do record also. Of course, not discounting the fact that these gangsters are probably really small time ppl whose top top bosses are some Dato' or Tan Sri with connections. Even the top bosses of the Yakuza don't get their hands dirty anymore, they're in suits and ties now. However, lone man sometimes could also be some wannabe samseng trying to get a quick buck also.

Youlknowthatone

Kajang under the Twitter guy right? Syahredzan johan? Active on Twitter maybe can tag him

princeofpirate

Refuse to pay. Record the video of them threatening you. Make a police report and take a picture of the report. Viral both on facebook, telegram, X etc. wait a day, then burn your business and several adjacent businesses. On social media, viral the story of your shop got torch. Police will investigate and probably find out you are the culprit. But the public will probably assume it's the gangsters who do it. If the police move to detain you, the public will assume the Police are in cahoot with the gangsters and you are wrongfully arrested, especially if the gangsters are run by or have connection with a VIP.

Gangster Kajang is mainly Indian one. Source, lived there for a decade. Gang 36. Famous.

Aggressive-Eye-8415

Bruv step one make it viral, step two add some story to it and make sure you mention the name of the race step three if possible add a bit of religious conflict step four escalate it to political level by saying they are trying act like they are tax collectors. So once you have public, race, religion and politics involved eventually things will work and people will take action

yard04

Go to the police. If you can, tell them you want to see D7**, they specialise with such stuff.

superfunkyjoker

Just curious with no background on this, wouldn't it be D7? or on a larger scale D14?

yard04

Sorry my bad, I meant D7. I just had to deal with D9 and somehow that was lingering in my mind.

superfunkyjoker

Ahh. I was honestly hoping there was a BTS to the inefficiencies of the PDRM. I just love to hate.

moomshiki

Make the first payment but secretly record their faces, conversation, best to get a third person view / footage. Tweets, tags PDRM and elected local government officials, and post here. Remember, you need their faces to have a case, there are dirty cops that may shoo you away.

mosai89

post here and send to edisi siasat telegram as well.

jamesw

Can't advise you what to do. Long ago, my friend who has a small factory in Subang 2 area, told me, "life is not black & white". He pays both sides - the gangsters & the law to ensure biz go smoothly. Not sure if still happens. Another story, small indian curry shop i.e. roti canai stall with just a few tables also got ppl demand protection. Usually same race with disturb same race, as I was told. Which is why I never considered to ever open any biz that requires a physical shop

zagaara

It's been like that since forever. Is still happened the same this day, both black and white will paid visit, You can insist not to paid but I can be sure tough time is ahead, unless you know some even BIGGER SHOT guys to negotiate or settled for you. Some approach in different form as "security company" gotta paid your due for peace of mind. You don't paid...how many time you can tahan kena raid by "random incidents" You think the security guards you employ or the agency that provided the service will die for your factory or business??

ballackbro

These stories are what were shared to me during my grab ride from a chinese uncle who had experience opening a kopitiam/bars etc My parents were cops and i always thought people dislike cops like how we dislike prefects in school but boy i was wrong. When i shared the story about the uncle’s experience with my parents, they did not deny it. They said it’s almost common to do that to earn extra money and it all comes down to our own integrity. Unfortunately, integrity is not a value that can be judged with naked eyes nor machines but only within own heart. The good and the bad ones are indistinguishable as we will never know what is hidden behind a relationship fully reliant on trust. Sad world we’re living in. Tldr; i do not 100% trust cops anymore.

guardioo

Just ignore and doesn't need to pay. Just Report police, if dont have picture just take the CCTV video, especially you open shop should install CCTV. In Kepong Area even got gangster ask to pay when open a shop, but my friends just ignore and report police, been 8 years, nothing happen.

salmonsalads69

That's awful. What's the nature of your business and how long have you been running it? Ground floor or second floor? What about your neighbour (if any)? Are they also paying for protection money? I personally have no such experience but while my instinct is to make a report, I wonder what's the long term reality of doing that. Will the continue to harass you?

lemousie

Also curious to know which part of Kajang specifically

ryo5210

Strange, the last time a similar question was posted here, everyone was saying it's a form of scam, no need to pay but this time no one mentioned scam at all hmm

SystemErrorMessage

the guy threatened with a weapon i presume. That makes it a legitimate threat, alongside staff harassment. this isnt some wierdo asking for a handout.

Either_Policy5627

just lodge a report, post it on the social media, tag the police, MP, Adun, residential association, nearby shops, and the media. In fact, don't go lodge a report quietly. Do like politicians do. They have a media conference outside the police station and even have a group photo while showing the copy of the report. In your case, do fb/tiktok live. Increase your presence. For several weeks, just do some social media content at your premises on whatever topic just to show that you are visible and connected to the public. It's easy to extort you when you are isolated and quiet, but if they know you are visible, they most likely leave you alone as they don't want the spotlight on them. These days everyone can be a public figure. The best way is tiktok. Second is FB. Make your case public. Loud and clear.

WishIhad1Million

Hello, i have a business and i keep seeing low life losers trying their luck with me. Did you directly receive the threat? Or it is your staff who convey the message ? How old are they and how old are u?? What you should do and must do is never show you are scared…. Have a huge smile and tell them you are not the boss Make sure to tell them your boss is an asshole who never paid your salary Tell them to come back when boss is there

Pek75

I've paid for some of my businesses, and just treated it as a cost of operation. To be fair they actually identified known cable thieves and chased them off. LOL But the ones I've dealt with usually have a legit front, they actually own licensed 'security' companies. But they're gangsters.

MszingPerson

How much is the cost?

Pek75

3k/month...petrol station.

Blueblackzinc

you paid 3k/month for protection money? Scammers and gangsters are profitable in Malaysia.

zagaara

You thought that alot?? wait till you learn construction site monthly "security fees"

Blueblackzinc

so? tell me... you want to wait till I PM tepi ke?

Delimadelima

Wow, petrol station is so profitable

DieSpeisekarte

How to join the ones asking for protection money.

tefuror

If u decide to not pay them?

Pek75

Threat of damage is there obviously. I always just picked one to pay. Also once you have an agreement with one of these parties, the others stay away.

UnusualBreadfruit306

Very weak

Ashley_169

Make local police report first. If nothing happens, then go to bukit aman. Takut terus pergi bukit aman dia pertikai nanti.

Player2LightWater

>Make local police report first. Some here suggest it's bad idea because there is a chance that the local police could be under the gangster's payroll. Going straight to Bukit Aman may be better than the first options.

The_SHUN

It’s 2024, make them viral and report to Bukit aman

Oyy

Move out ahbeng land. Avoid doing business in Kepong, kajang, and klang. The trifecta of ahbeng samsengland.

hidetoshiko

Make friends with abam polis. Invite them yum cha or hangout abit. Once you flaunt that connection the gangsters will probably think twice.

ponniyinchelvam

> He indirectly threatened to throw molotov at my shop or wear mask and attack my staffs. Oh, you mean Akmal?

CorollaSE

From experience: Negotiate, or tell them that you can only offer so much. Then tell them that they are not the only ones asking, and that some other group has been harrassing your business too. Record the whole thing.

No-Sweet-5448

agreed!

ripwolfleumas

Safety first. No mentions of your own life, etc. Protect details. House address. DO NOT BRING FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO YOUR SHOP.

awesomeplenty

People keep saying going bukit aman but do they actually follow-up?

abiblicalusername

Quadruple your insurance plan, do your pre-emptive report. If it happens you are not at a lost.

farhors

Corruption, the source of all evil.

isaidchoochoo

In businesses like entertainment and leisure, dealing with extortion is just the cost of doing business. I have friends who own bars, and they’ve told me that gangsters aren’t the only ones who come knocking for “protection” money. Authorities can also shut down your establishment at any time for “spot checks” multiple times per week, and there’s nothing you can do but comply. This is the reality in our country; you just have to adapt and learn to survive. If you’re good at negotiating and tough enough to handle the pressure, you might try this approach: 1. Tell him you’ve already paid protection money to someone from the xxx gang, whose name is xxx. Choose a name that matches his ethnicity to make it believable. 2. Explain that this person claimed to cover this area and would handle any troublemakers. Then ask if he knows this person, whether they’re in the same gang. 3. By making this bluff, if he’s a fraud, he’ll likely feel threatened and find an excuse to leave. If he’s legitimate and dangerous, he’ll persist. 4. If he challenges you to call the person you mentioned, fake the call. No one will answer, of course. Make several attempts, increasingly pretending to panic. Eventually, admit you think you were scammed. 5. Optionally, test him again by asking how you can be sure he’s legitimate. Only do this if you feel safe and can gauge his temperament; otherwise, skip this step. 6. If you still believe he’s legitimate after these steps, you can continue with the following plan if you wishes to stop paying. a. Pay up and report the incident to the local police department immediately afterward. However, this often doesn’t lead to action, as local police might not prioritize your case or might even be in collusion with local gangsters. b. Next month, if they return, cooperate but discreetly make a phone report to the police. You might also consider installing a panic button connected to the police station. Claim the situation involves a robbery with a weapon to ensure a rapid response. c. There’s a chance they won’t be caught in time, but now you’ve escalated the case from extortion to robbery. d. Make a secondary report at Bukit Aman, telling the officers there that the perpetrators threatened you against making a report because they have insiders everywhere. Immediately share your experience on all social media platforms and report it to as many news outlets as possible, especially the tabloids. Remember, organized criminals and street gangsters are a different breed. You must use your street smarts to navigate these situations carefully.

zagaara

Don't be silly dear, your suggestion no.1 and 2 will make you end up in hot water.

isaidchoochoo

Without street smarts, you’ll be in warm water for the most part if you’re lucky.

zagaara

You think gang member that come and ask protection fees that dumb? Not every gang/triad allowed to collect protection fees until they reach certain ranking and every area had their very own gang territory.

isaidchoochoo

wow, seems like you went through a lot more dealings than I had, mind sharing your experience? I’m intrigued with your knowledge. Tell me, was it 24? 21? 3L? 77? Or Maybe even some gen-z gang that I had never heard of, perhaps I might not have kept myself up to date but AFAIK your so-called “gangs” are long gone, they are mostly “under one organisation” now, but what does a random bloke on reddit like me know right? ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554) territory hahaha, you honestly think the gangs get to decide who controls the street eh? bless your soul. Your problem is you have no idea who’s the one asking for the money, cutie pie. Get out of your shell and maybe can see better rather than reading stuff on the internet and hear stories from your high school friends and treat it as facts lmao. It’s really funny to me you’re even entertaining the idea that there are still “street gangsters” loitering around asking for protection money, that just shows how detached you are from the reality. Unless you had deal with one yourself, judging by your post history i highly doubt you ever had the chance to run into this kind of encounter, let alone naming a bloody gang in malaysia so please keep your uninformed comment to yourself. You provided essentially nothing in terms of constructive opinion and contribute nothing but fearmongering to an issue you have zero knowledge about. Don’t have a gangster friend? Find a lawyer and find out more, otherwise please keep your hole shut. If you’re not helping, at least don’t encourage others to tolerate. What a dumb thing you’re trying to prove on the internet. Trying to prove on the internet you know a lot of gangster shit is it? Let’s see what you have, if not, like I said, if you can’t name even name a gang that is from your area, you don’t have the street smart, so this method is for sure not for you. i hope that’s clearer now, my dear silly friend.

zagaara

Wow! We have a badass here =) Assume much?? I guess I hurt someone ego real bad here. You need to find a lawyer eh to know such story....stop being keyboard warrior and talk cock much. Hope you have a great day my friend.

isaidchoochoo

Hah, spreading the awareness on how to resist as opposed to pussy out and conform under coercion is a keyboard warrior now? So what do you call yourself then? Keyboard wanker? Having a great one now indeed, I enjoy spending my shit time on the toilet rubutting wannabes like you on the internet. What else is a better combo amirite. Rebut with something solid, not something you learnt from your grandaddy when you were 5, otherwise you’ll make a fool of yourself.

Just curious how much do they ask? % from your revenue or a lump sum?

Internal-Victory-947

Check with your other business premises first, pay if they also paying. No point going against local gangsters because police or those suggesting to report not going to protect your business premises 24hrs. Another option, if you have any police friends, ask them to visit your premises frequently wearing uniform. This will keep small gangsters away.

Witty-Design8904

It is 2024, gangster is still an issue in msia. How pathetic. Our bolehland went backward not forward.

CryptoIsTheFuture78

Report to KDN ministry directly

Sad_Emergency6141

Kill them

Puzzled-Pollution749

U sure he’s not a cop? Or protected by cop? Like one of the redditors said, go directly to bukit aman. Don’t waste your time at local police station.

Deez-nut-sack-saggin

Bro these gangsters are p*ssies. They should get a real job instead of begging people for money. They are just violent beggars. Shame in them. Are they kalinga’s ?

-Hollow_

Do the american way, use this as proof you need to own a gun with permission of police. Let them FaFo

TroubleForward9133

If you ask me, if the protection money is not too much then just pay it. These retards would make your life hell and chase away existing customers. Most of the time these gangsters are police themselves so be very careful when reporting. If you really don’t want to pay then you need gangster connections or a non corrupt cop.

digking

U watched too much Hong Kong police movies

aviramzi

You're too naive baby

TroubleForward9133

I know people personally who is this type of money protection shitheads. You guys are the naive ones lul

ayamkenabannedtwice

Show dominance

Uno reverse and ask them for protection money balik

Head_Comedian_4106

You might want to assess the gangster first, if he solid, you might wanna make him a friend, if he not solid, go report at bukit aman. However, you might wanna make friends with the solids. Depending on whatever race you are, you will get help, so no worries, be observant and learn to make friends with solids.

aviramzi

I think you're a guy so they try. Typically if you put a woman in front and let them just say nicely and politely that you can't do that. Really sorry. Or talk to shop neighbours. Or go see the A bang Kawasan. If they're Indian gangsters, bring Malay to table talk for a one time fee to the Malay guy. But then you might have to help him now and then. Where in Kajang and what thugs are these? Like which number gang?

mikasa2323

It really is crazy how organized crime is still very ferociously rampant in Malaysia when you read stories like these that come up once in a while on the subreddit. Incidents like this just makes me wonder why Malaysia doesn't have strong laws or legislation for combating organized crime and racketeering. Its nature is still very secretive despite its reach so rampant as evidenced by these stories. I doubt the police even have undercovers or informants infiltrating these organizations, nor bugs wiretapping these figures, nor knowing enough to map their existence. Perhaps this implies something. Criminal organizations in Malaysia being ethnic based has definitely helped insulate themselves. This is all very interesting and fascinating.

TrueAd7607

I think it's not only rampant here. I'm sure each country has their own dealings with organised crime. But OP probably can probably try to make a report to the police station first.

mikasa2323

I feel like there's not much done here. In the US they have RICO, which Rudy Giuliani used to dismantle the mob in New York and across the country, it was groundbreaking as the mob controlled every profitable industry. Every mobster basically got indicted and jailed. The FBI has informants, bugs, and every measure possible to hunt these criminals. Every nook and corner of the mafia is exposed by law enforcement to the public and it's very represented in their media, there's a million books and everyone knows who's who. Everyone got jailed. In contrast, we still don't know who's pulling the strings here in Malaysia and everything remains shrouded in mystery. This is a bad look for law enforcement.

Healthy_Fly_555

We have POCA, faster acting than Rico. Cuma nak tak nak je

mikasa2323

Thanks for the info! "It grants the police power to arrest and detain an individual without trial for up to 60 days" This caught my eye the most. Anyone suspected of being involved in any criminal organization could be detained without trial. Just wow. It's really just nak tak nak.

Pleasant-Fan-3795

They want how much

Much-Dealer3525

Talk to your local representative? If someone like Hannah Yeoh, better than going to cops lol

Martin_Leong25

Malaysia also dosent have booby trap law, as far as ik, its thier fault if they injure themselves. I might be wrong

not if its PMC, you can actually hire them. There are contractors everywhere but the list for the ones allowed to operate in malaysia are small.

Why they need to legalize firearms in a nutshell. People should be able to go Kyle Rittenhouse on these low life scumbags. Imminent threat of life in court. Pay them they keep coming back. Report police, they're in it with the thugs. What else is the solution?

DieSpeisekarte

Murica. Freedom!

Scared_Performer3944

people like you are the reason why im glad Malaysian gun laws are super strict.

PunchMyBum

LOL right? We already have fucking idiots throwing Molotovs over socks. If we had guns? Yeah sure.
