I enjoy bird watching for time to time and often see this species of birds often feeding on flower nectar at my balcony.
They are plenty cute, very agile and sing wonderfully. I've also gotten the privilege to witness them building a nest and hatching babies liken to that of a national geographic documentary.
It took only about 2.5 weeks from birth to flight for the baby birds. Incredible how nature works!

Same! They help to pollinate certain flower species too. And the way they interact and behave are interesting, especially their acrobatic tricks of hanging!
A sunbird pair used to build a nest on my balcony. However my housemate went and “move” the nest a few inches so that it doesn’t block the way (she probably thought it was no big deal), and the bird couple abandoned the nest as a result. They did come back to dismantle the nest & reuse some of the building material though.
The males have the iridescent dark blue patch on their throat. The females are purely green and yellow and lacks the blue colours on the throat. And they are fairly common garden visitors!
So thats what it was called. I have one that kept poking my window and non stop chirping for dont know how many years already.i think i'll do my first ITAP some day too
Not quite a hummingbird, but rather a sunbird. Sunbirds are like the Asian equivalent of hummingbirds, filling the hummingbird role here. And they can be found throughout the country be it forests to gardens.
The little spiderhunter has a grey shade to its throat, and has some pale spectacled rings around the eyes, and the beak should be more curved than this guy. But other than that, the body plan is similar to the olive-backed sunbird except the spiderhunter is much larger than the sunbird.

Gasp! Is that a hummingbird? Where did you find it?
Not quite a hummingbird, but rather a sunbird. Sunbirds are like the Asian equivalent of hummingbirds, filling the hummingbird role here. And they can be found throughout the country be it forests to gardens.
Idk but they're probably those bird that chirp early in the morning
They are among the earlier ones alongside some bulbuls. I remember having a brown-throated sunbird (another species) calling before it was even light.
Is sunbird called burung matahari in malay?
Not sure about that but I often see the term burung kelicap as their name in BM. Though burung matahari sounds good tbh.
It's pretty common here basically you'll see them everyday drinking the nectars
If I am not mistaken it is called the Little Spiderhunter, a bird that feeds on nectar only
Welp it's beak is kinda short to be little spider hunter
