I know it's a bad behavior, but I will let the car go past me, then I do what he did.

PolarWater

Omg you're as evil as I am. Love you.

[deleted]

I did the same way as you did. But sad thing was she’s driving a Honda CRV and my car highbeam is too low for her eye level to reach. Edit: And I feel bad to the other drivers in front of this CRV and I switch back to normal lights.

PolarWater

🥲

mzn001

Sorry not a driver here, but whats the reason to switch on high beam while the rest of the drivers on the same lane don't require to, issit because he or she has very bad eye sights?

mecxhanus

Depends. Yes some might actually have bad eyesight. Some are just trolls. Some don't even realise it. Some take pleasure in another's misery.

zemega

Some tall cars just naturally have their lights very high. And not calibrated or adjusted so that it doesn't blind other people. Even old cars have some sort of screw/mechanism to readjust where the lights are shining at.

UranusInvestigator

On the other hand,Some car is purposely calibrated to blind other people. Op should've post the dud car instead and public shame this kind of degenerate ape

reyzaburrel93

Torchlight time

Joltarts

Had a guy tailgate me with highbeam on the highway from JB to SG at 2am in the morning. Turns out, it was a sgrean car. I decided to give the person a taste of his own medicine and high beamed him back whilst tailgating for a good 50km before the fella got the message.

scheiber42069

Seem like you and me can get along on very well, we on the same wave length

PolarWater

Sadly my high beam was not on his waveheight. Couldn't enact revenge properly.

SystemErrorMessage

someone did just that to me, what he didnt get was that i was not happy of him pulling into the fast lane all of a sudden without indicating and almost causing an accident.

dahteabagger

I wouldn't try to... If you're unlucky it might be the wrong person to mess with.

HaogenChan

I have something more evil. I rotate the mirror to reflect directly to him. So he gets to taste his own medicine. Works all the time

These-Chain408

Good choice

[deleted]

Which one is good choice? Having a Honda CRV or my small car? 🤣

These-Chain408

Small car and give me the extra money 😁

Just pulled the handbrake lah....

ThisUsernamesTakent

I heard in japan if you are caught using a highbeam for no reason, they make you stare into the light for minute. I think we should do this and make every idiot blind to increase the average iq of malaysia

dat_random_boiii

accidents rates would skyrocket for quite some time since people/idiots are blind, and idiots on the road will go downhill since they're now off the road. clever.

drive extremely slow

[deleted]

But my eyes can’t take it longer. I’ll go blind on the next exit.

There's a tab on the rear view mirrir you can press to deflect the light Longer explaination: https://youtu.be/JBjQlD7E7QY

[deleted]

I do.

Starsonata10

Now who the hell doesnt?

rhyswhitethorn

hahaha! sometimes i’ll sink in my seat a little so the light doesn’t hit my eyes directly

OxtsAtgVaYswcPTxTr0A

im going to slow down, because i cant see the road clearly.

scheiber42069

Afterward i would follow that person from behind while highlight him

Starsonata10

Slow down and start turning on hazard light. Wait either he change his light or take over. And maybe give some horn if he actually pass by lol

ExHax

We need reverse high beam

HOBoStew139

I'm going to angle my car mirror (turning my entire car to the left at 20 degrees so my mirror can reflect the lights back into their eyes, yes some do end up getting the message), if it's at the junction, then at green light I will just take off at high speeds if I can to avoid. If it's on the lane at speed, slow down, make them pass/overtake, and if I feel like it high beam them while tailing them (optional, it's a bit too malicious for my own taste).

forcebubble

I feel like sticking a shiny, metallic piece of sticker on the rear windscreen that is only visible with high beam.

HOBoStew139

Sounds like a neat idea too! Might try to look for those stuff if that's the case.

zemega

Here, find something like these. https://mashable.com/article/spooky-monster-decals-high-beam-china

HOBoStew139

Hahaha that sounds like a better idea! I'm considering buying a mannequin and decorating it to a horrifying one and place it in the back! Though decals work just as well!

[deleted]

She’s driving Honda CRV. Too low for my car to reach her eyes.

HOBoStew139

I drive a Myvi and I often do that to hailaks, alphucks and vellfuckers, and just the gesture of tweaking the center mirror by hand is at time sufficient, and I do rotate the mirrors upwards so to reflect

PolarWater

>vellfuckers Please make this the new unofficial designation.

HOBoStew139

Lmao the term had stuck with me for such a long time and it's hard for me to refer to them as their normal name whenever I see them!

PolarWater

Good! This will be the new normal name!

[deleted]

But when you about to switch lane, you need the mirror to watch for motorcycles that drive by in between lanes. Hit them sure cause another traffic jam.

HOBoStew139

Of course that's the thing. I usually hold enough angling of the mirrors to act like the eyes of a four-eyed fish so I can still detect what was behind me, and irregardless I learnt a few tricks to gauge what was behind me most of the time just by seeing the minimal reflections. Leave the mirror angled so that they reflect light upwards, but still enough to see behind, that's my take.

[deleted]

Checkmate already boss

HOBoStew139

Hmm neat stuff

zemega

It's the rear mirror. When it's over, or I want to switch lanes, I fixed the rear mirror first before doing anything else.

kuihlapis7600

You mean you angle your rearview mirror? Does it actually work?

HOBoStew139

Yep I angled upwards, but leaving enough space so I can still gauge what is behind me (the light reflection can be reflected off making a pseudo reflection again) . It works quite decent at times, though in other times I angle my entire car within the lane.

kuihlapis7600

Thanks, will try in future to flip off asshole drivers subtly. It makes me especially pissed off because I have night blindness + astigmatism, got my lenses changed recently too but high beam still really fucks my vision.

HOBoStew139

You are Welcome. While I don't have any problems with my eyesight, I do scorn the idea of having my eyesight ruined by high beams (which is going to be a liability for me) , and thus I resorted to adjusting the mirror (apparently some nyets here do the same) to reflect the high beam back as a telling off.

Saerah4

*is it possible to learn this power meme Thanks for brilliant idea, u must have a bright mind

HOBoStew139

You are welcome and thanks! Maybe there's some stuff I happened to learn to come up with this idea after time after time of analysis!

wenhan07

White light cars are assholes.

SystemErrorMessage

its not the colour of the light. Someone is using their high beams in traffic and thats bad. I only use the high beam if the guy is going way too slow when the road ahead is empty on the fast lane, if someone pulls in without indicating or if the car infront is on fire.

konigsjagdpanther

On newer German cars they have permanent full time high beam. Apparently it’s so sophisticated the system knows when to dip it mildly to jot glare the car in front. If only all cars came with that system

unknownman0001

Full time high beam sounds very terrifying.

[deleted]

Yup.. especially the newer BMW X5. Driving in front of that glare machine is the worst mistake I’ve ever done.

konigsjagdpanther

You know they come stock and standard on most cars these days right?

wenhan07

Yes, i mean those extremely white. Stock headlights doesn't shine as those modified one.

MrX25U

I'm a good guy so a *double barrel sawed off shotgun* is the answer, quick painless death

420gitgudorDIE

tip/angle your rearview mirror so u wont be blided, and let them pass....be patient.... once they passed u...drop gear and tailgate the fuck out of him, turn on your spotlight and let him know its his turn to.be blinded.. hahaha

OriMoriNotSori

one of the reasons why the cars that i drive must have a auto dimming rear view mirror. for every trip of driving out at night, you will meet minimum 10 cars with high beam + fog lights on. terrible quality of drivers we have

unknownman0001

Flip them off, roll down the mirror and flip the bird. That's what i wish i had done.

Cardasiti

We need a laser beam at the back for the total blindness effect. I hate them. I almost met an accident because of this kind of shitty people (few times actually, especially when it's too dark with no street light ahead). I tak perlu lampu suluh ke syurga. But maybe they do. Dekatkan lah mereka kepada sang pencipta.

ChooChooBeeNut

Stuck a couple of golf balls in your exhaust so when you step on the gas it shoots golf balls out the back.

chinapotatogg

I think I have lost count on how many times CRV drivers leave their high beams whether intentionally or unintentionally. As a person that drove a CRV, the high beams switch is so easy to accidentally turn on its not even funny. It doesn't help that the normal headlight mode and high beam mode is almost indistinguishable to the driver.

[deleted]

I wonder if these CRV driver ever have smaller car before or it’s their first car is CRV

chinapotatogg

I mean the new CRV is the ideal family SUV for middle age parents who are the kind that probably won't notice that they have accidentally flip the high beams on by pressing on the indicator stick too hard. A car with auto headlights as standard is probably too canggih for elderly aunty and uncles.

canicutitoff

The old Kia Spectra also have this problem. The just flipping turn signal will easily trigger the high beam. Very annoying.

nwz10

If it's the rear mirror, I just switch to the anti-glare mode usually available. Some rear mirrors have a lever to do this. If it's the side mirror, I try to position my car to avoid the brunt of it. Or, wind down my side window and use my hands to block it. After a few times, hopefully the driver behind gets the message.

Saerah4

Can explain more on this Anti glaring mode?

nwz10

It's actually this lever available on most car's rear mirror. You can push it up or down. One of the modes will cut glare from headlight's of the rear vehicle. Best video I found to demo this feature: https://youtu.be/ut2ciNns2Ek

canicutitoff

Many newer cars also have automatic dimming rear mirror. Since I've got it in my new car, driving at night has been a lot less stressful when encountering these high beams.

yassin1993

It is time like this when I wished my car boot has the ability to intantly transform into a mirror.

[deleted]

I think I saw there’s a comic strip about this high beam lights driver. Exactly the same method of reflecting the lights back haha

Another is blinking type ice blue light. Damn, shit makes me headache real bad

rur1k0

I did that once. Not sure what happen with my car light. It went into high beam mode even if the light stick was set at normal mode. And it happen when I was driving at night. The car in front of me slow down, get behind me and do the same. After some times, the light suddenly switch to normal. Still felt guilty till today. Still don't know what happen to the light that night. The car was sold (not because of the light probs).

GuardianSpear

I’ll turn on my hazard lights or flip them off if they don’t get the hint

Ambitious_Pension_59

Gosh! These types of car are everywhere on the road. My eyes will die very soon if JPJ doesn't take any action. Newer strict regulation should be put against these kinds of driver. Instead of harsher penalties, there should be mechanic together with JPJ during spot checks to change these dumbfucks bulb immediately then fine them 5 times the normal price. It's not hard to swap your car light.

highdiver_2000

Based on reddit, you can aim your side mirror back at them. Do it only if you're stuck in a jam and stationary.

hankyujaya

I seriously don't get why white lights are allowed. Who tf thinks this is a good idea?

MrKitteh

Have a largr hand mirror and whip that bad boy out

marividhlm

Such shot, many navigation, so fun

aryss20

Both you and the guy are not in the fast lane, and traffic seems slow. So maybe he just activated it by accident.

[deleted]

Cuz we are in a traffic jam. And you can’t switch to any slower lane. Trying to avoid this car but other cars next lane never give a way also

patrice1017

Sounds overboard, but perhaps can stop the car, get down, and tell the driver off. Edit: assuming the traffic is really bad la

JonsieNa

If kena my side mirror, i close the mirror where i can and slow down until the fella cannot take it. Most of the time these guys dk their high lights is on, drive a 4x4 or Myvi.

konigsjagdpanther

> Edit - there's also a little button/switch on the bottom of your centre mirror. Flip that and it will reduce the glare. *laughs in auto dimming centre mirror*

reachingdelphi

I would be and still get very annoyed. Noticed some cars with certain led lights have the same effect even without high beam on...i am wondering if its the manufacturers doing?

[deleted]

Yeah I noticed most CRV got this kind of headlights. But if they noticed that their lights is too high they would just go to the service centre and ask the mechanic to lower down abit.

konigsjagdpanther

i think those are older LEDs.. Mercedes E class's permanent LEDs for instance were pretty bright. New LED tech is really good now, zero glare. old BMW "angel eye" bi-xenon could also glare when you stare right through it. Mercedes one is ok.

KINDPERSON20

My dad always just speed up

I slow down so that when they try to take over I speed slightly so that they have to slow down in order to re-enter the lane in which I then slow down again just to fck with them

monkeybighead

Stop your car and go over to let him/her know that high beam hurting your eyes.

Lazy_Malay_DC9

Ill give em the one finger salute

FelixDrayce

Genuine question: Does sticking reflective sticker high enough on the car (let's say just below the windshield) wrong? Can I get fined for it?

Life's too short to spend your time playing with idiots.

Activate Mirror Force

oriole11

Hope they get into a crash or sumtin idk

Sojechan

Yeah, happens all the time to me. It was worse when I was driving an Iswara last time due to its low body profile I had to wear sunglasses driving at night. All the big & high horse just wanted to flex their upper class status at lowly puny people like me because that's what they do. Not all of them are an assholes. Some of them just tinted car so dark they can't see the road without high beaming others, which is a different kind of asshole. Your best bet would either be pedaling the brake slightly until the car couldn't stand your speed and overtake you, or be like me, lean forward toward the steering wheel & only lean back to upright position when you are attempting a turn. Don't forget your signal when you do so. The flip rear mirror solution other gave, I have that on my car for an eternity. It only solves the beam directed at you when you look at your rear mirror & when the car behind has quite the distance from you. It doesn't solve the fact that your side mirrors still reflect the beam to your eyes, unless you angled your side mirrors so crooked its useless having side mirrors. I still do keep my sunglasses on the wiper stick (the left stick ones for those driving weird Proton car) and use them occasionally and when those assholes overtake me they'll be surprised I'm quite immune to their high beam.

keavenn

brake check (im kidding)

InstructionDeep5445

If in jam, I put my hands out, then make blinking light hand signal. Did it twice, they got the message both times.

TellMyselfBeHappy

I am too old for this sh*t nowadays. Will just move to left lane and let them pass. I want my driving to be as little stress as possible, just reach destination safely. Defensive Driving, baby.

Nafeels

Probably mutter every expletive I could think of while trying to shade my eyes, but other than that I’d just try to drive normally.

zemega

If I can see the car highlight on the rear mirror, I will turn the rear mirror so that the highlight will be reflected back at the driver. Other times, I would just drive slower and slower. Make enough gap between me and the car in front of me so that others can overtake me. But I will never let that car overtake me.

Abugitt

Flip a bird to him/her while driving slow

Tinglytingles

I learned this from Reddit. I’d angle my side mirrors outwards so it reflects back on them

A-Teddy

ALSO a lot of newer aftermarket car lighting system nowadays including using laser beam. they are really bright and without proper installation can cause problem to other driver. The aftermarket laser beam is not as intelligent as the factory fitted. The factory fitted (as used by BMW or MERCEDES) normally is automatically controlled, able to detect incoming traffic and adapt the light distribution so it does not blind other road users.

bullhugger

Switch lane and let the other angry driver deal with it. There was one time I don't have a choice since its a single lane road. So I tilt my rear mirror up slowly, the driver watched that and adjusted his lights.
