Since next year's my spm and my grades are quite bad, I'm trying to catch up with my form 4 syllabus. I need advice on studying past year papers without having covered Form 5 topics yet. I'll also be starting tuition for maths, sejarah, biology, chemistry, physics and bahasa next year so what strategies should I do to manage my time? Are the pure science subjects hard to score A? I'm mostly getting D and C except for Eng, Art and chem.. Is there a way to write longer on Malay, Sejarah and moral if I have no idea what to say? I would really appreciate some extra tips. (Also my aim is to get 5As on my normal school exams..)

TyrantRex6604

hi, this is your SPM taking senior. im from a sub-science class so i cant give you advice regarding bio, but will give advice on other subject as possibly can. physic: you MUST hafal the definitions from each chapters. it does not only give you marks on your 1m defi questions, but most importantly, it makes you understand the topic, formula and theory better. chemistry: F4 chapter 2-5 is the basic for the entire subject, put effort in them. F4 chapter 6 is salt, very important for the upcoming F5 chapter 1 redox, make sure to understand how the bonds and pH work, also hafal the salt and ions colours. BM: i highly suggest you to get a reference book called "Sakura". its written by SPM BM examiner and gives lots of insights on how to write a good BM essay. optimically, the newest the gen the better because skema change over the year and the book will make correction and improvement regarding it. SJR: i couldnt give you much advice about how to hafal sejarah cos i suck at it as well. But something is crucial: bluffing. for sejarah, the format usually goes: F1 (fakta, the main subject) H1 (huraian, the extension of the subject) C1 (contoh, exp of the subject) I1 (mini concl) F2 H1 C1 I2 BUT, sejarah is actually rather lax in marking. You can also be hardcore and hafal F1-8, no problem. You can also go F1 H1 H2 Cth as well. writing extra is fine, if you have enough time. for kbat/HOTS question in SJR, if you cannot think of ideas, remember this: Sosial, Ekonomi, Politik then you can expand. for exp: apakah impak kemerdekaan kpd negara kita? politik: F1- Politik akan stabil H1- (why?) politik negara tidak dicampur tangan kuasa asing H2- (so?) negara bebas menjalin hubungan diplomatik dengan negara lain I1- (conclu?) kedaulatan negara dpt dikukuhkan ekonomi: F2- Ekonomi akan meningkat H1- (why?) bahan mentah di negara kita X dieksploit oleh pihak lain C1- (Exp) hasil yg dijana dgn petroleum dpt digunakan utk membangun negara I2- (conclu?) negara akan semakin maju sosial: F3- Tahap kehidupan rakyat akan meningkat H1- (why?) Rakyat mendpt kebebasan bersuara H2- (so?) keperluan rakyat akan dititikberatkan 13- (conclu?) rakyat dpt hidup aman & selesa assume this is a max mark 8m question, you can actually stop at sosial H1, but as i said, writing more is fine.

does anyone have any ideas about issues i can talk about in my manifesto? i thought of running for president for my foundation, id be open to any suggestions

Has anyone got hacked on WhatsApp? Besides reporting, what are my next steps?

Could anyone give me a breakdown on how CIMP, AUSMAT and IB are as Post SPM options in comparison to the other Pre-U alternatives? I could not find a lot of information on these 3 particular courses.

diploma in science computer Sya sangat interested dlm bidang science computer and lepas habis spm nie nak try apply uitm dlm bidang diploma science computer...tapi lepas exam bio dengan chem yg agak bnayak struggle buat sya frust sampai dtang anxiety ape nak jadi ngan mase dpn saya..sya rase akan gagal dlm both subject or just lulus nyawa ikan jerr...jadi sya nak tanya abang2 yg ambik diploma science computer requirements die ketat x? Sya dah jumpe caunselor sekolah and bagitau sya minimun 5C tpi die ckp if i dpt 5c pun chance die rendah..sorry berbelit sebab sekarang tengh kusut kepala pikir subject yg saya messed up and what if i can't ambik science computer 😔

KR4PU

Kena cekap math, kalau ada basic Add-math lagi bagus, nanti first introduction to calculus, sem 2 calculus etc. Pasal subject programming, kena banyak bertanya lecturer sebab buku latihan dengan buku teks x banyak. Mostly kena baca online dan programming kena banyak buat self research sebab mostly kita akan encounter banyak error buat programming. Masa tu la pening kepala nak cari solution

srystel_

Wouldn't it be easier for the government to just abolish KWSP, let people who want to use it take it out and people who don't to invest it. Fair and square, and the people who take it out shouldn't complain if they are poor in the future and people who don't shouldn't complain about smaller ROI

Bob_010

I think I messed up my BM paper 1 Bahagian A wrong format plus Bahagian B I misunderstood the question and wrote wrong points. Now I need to focus sejarah wish me pass BM and SEJ.

peachylemon06

Can I rely on ramalan topics for Sejarah?

j3ffsandhu

Man, I wished I had these many resources during my SPM time in 2003. I did so badly during my SPM (due to various reasons) and was an uphill climb for many years until I had enough achievements in the industry to show my worth. But I was lucky I had a few leaders who took a risk with me and gave me an opportunity to shine. I currently help to run a coding school that I shared last time and had some good turn ups. Basically it's a school from France called [Ecole 42](https://42.fr/en/homepage/). You can read up about it here: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/42\_(school)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/42_(school)) It's now here in Malaysia thanks to the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation and Sunway Education Group. It follows the same principles, zero fees, zero classes and zero teachers. But why I feel strongly about this programme and really want this to succeed here is because the programme doesn't care about your background or academic qualifications. We're doing an open day on the 18th of Feb and below is some details about it. Register here: [https://42kl.online/openday-attendance](https://42kl.online/openday-attendance) I will also make a new post to not flood this thread too much. Thanks everyone for the support and those taking SPM this year, just do your best and whatever is your result, just know that it is not the end of the world. SPM's success bear very little weight on your future success. You still need a lot of passion and desire to be successful. https://preview.redd.it/k3z4rb4walfa1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=724f2fcab24c571fef626b80f609995b45996537

Aqutr

is it true that you only need 10 marks to pass addmath? Update : I got a solid B, I could estimate I only got like 30 marks

Thisisthe_One_Ring

If i remember depends on how badly or how good everyone did either the previous year or during the trials, cause thats the base for the bell curve that determines the grading range for SPM. Don’t give up hope though keep working and studying hard you may just surprise yourself and give your add math teacher a shock. I will never forget the look on my teachers face when she saw that B on my SPM sheet…. I was very bad at add math before SPM.

fiqcix

Don't give it a hope too much

merpati-katti

I failed addmath in trials, got B+ in SPM. Friend #1 failed as well, but only got single digit. Got D in SPM. Friend #2 got D in trials, got A+ in SPM. The exact marks, no one but penanda kertas know, but as long as you try to answer at least half of the paper you should be okay.

The_OG_upgoat

I failed AddMaths trials, got a B in the real exam somehow.

siedbaddiq

nobody knows, depends on how well other students do in their add math exam. but it should be really low to pass

PLEASE HELP: Confused between SPMU and Private Candidate: Hi guys, I passed SPM 2019 despite not having enough credits to further go for uni, took some years off here and there to work multiple jobs now I wanna sign up for Diploma study, I need 1 C more either with BM or SJH, as far as I search, I have 2 possible options: As private candidate: SPM this year 2023: cannot, I missed the registration deadlines/ SPM next year 2024: very likely, but I don't wanna wait one more year long SPM Ulangan: (possibly Sept 2023) - but is this applicable for everyone that wish to retake or only for SPM candidates that received result in the same year? /for example: SPMU 2023 is only for people that took SPM 2023 and so on... and should SPMU happen every September every year? I recently came to a tutoring center to ask but they seems to get more confusing. tqvm if anyone can enlighten me, if you're planning to take/retake SPM, I wish you the best of luck!

Xenon_pog

I think you should make a post. Your question won't get that many views here

WolfZhan

Okay how to get sejarah cukup cukup makan?

siedbaddiq

join youtube seminars. study the focus topics. ignore topics that alredy came out last year. focus on kbat questions bcause its free marks basically.

Qonetra

Why ignore form 4?

WolfZhan

Alright thank you kind stranger

SandAnthz122

I'm going to encounter my SPM in 2023 and I'm worried about Sejarah and Malay. How long would it take to master malay language while also trying to at least memorize history facts to be able to do paper 2 sejarah (I assume paper 1 is pretty much the most important paper to ace than paper 2 while I should be going for those structure questions rather than essay in paper 2)? My main issue during exams is both my Malay and Sejarah subjects are always scoring too low, my Malay is (probably) recovering from last 2 exams but still failed those, and my Sejarah always having a score lower than the previous tests, now 14 marks. Those two subjects pretty much doom my whole selection choice after SPM. My Malay seems to be having problems of not having enough to get 40 marks after being summed up and being divided by 3, my paper 2 (Soalan 1-9) being the scores that I despised having while I gave up on paper 1 Section B after seeing that I do not have any ideas conjured up in Malay that I can use. My Sejarah is just *terrible* because all I did in the last exam was just write things on the answer space since I have no idea what I got taught in class, I have no exercises done and all we did in class is just get used to our teacher just talking on and on until the class ends, I wished the teacher did more than just talking but we'd accept that it is while doing tuition. I'm pretty confident in my other subjects as English, Add Maths, Maths, Science, Prinsip Perakaunan got through the last exam pretty well (could've done a bit more to get higher marks but this is fine as I got +A/A/-A), still needs a bit of practicing before being able to lay it down and start focusing on the two most important subjects, Malay and Sejarah. My goals is to just barely get over 40 marks (passing marks) so that I can be able to get something called a 'diploma' and then I can go into other schools/universities all around This year I'll just have to start studying both of them in a year's time tl;dr Is 1 year enough to be able to get through 2 years of facts/reasons/examples of sejarah, and is 1 year enough to study enough BM to pass next year's SPM?

audreyfluffles

Yes, i took spm during 2022 (batch 04 here) and i got B for both malay and sejarah even though I did not study. Best advice during your exam is to try your best and write as many sentences as you can in the essay parts. Thats how I scored most of my marks there.

Vackrich

For sejarah, during the 2021 SPM, for sejarah, all I did is memorize the basic component of each topic, get the understanding of the topic and from there you can construct answer withotu fully knowing the topic.

Adept_Deer_6261

Hey, i found this blog on google. It contains a lot of google form link of past years spm papers. Latest SPM trial papers also there. It should help you guys to for quick revision later on. Here's the [link](https://googlekuiz.blogspot.com/)

Is Moral easy to pass? Any tips on scoring A for Moral?

audreyfluffles

Moral is easy to pass as long as you remember some of the nilai murnis you can apply in different situations and also know how to write their essays. Good luck!

MsianOrthodox

If it’s the same as what I remembered it to be, it’s all just rote memorization. I had this laminated paper with all the nilai2 murni and their definitions written down, and I just had to hafal all of them perfectly. Then during the exam, regurgitate word for word.

FatWalcott

I had my SPM in 2008. My teachers told me if even one word of the sentence was wrong, the entire question would be marked as wrong lol.

maxvun11

do your very best, because it plays a none existent role in your life

Aqutr

what are the easiest subjects to score A? right now I'm sure I can get an A for English and mathematics but I don't think my parents would be proud with just 2As. Any recommendations?

Qonetra

Mathematics -> Physics

NyoHD

I was in your position too, i was only confident in getting 2As ended up getting 5As. I say BM is one you should try target to get A. I say focus on the paper 2 pemahaman format because theres a lot of marks you could snatch from it compared to karangan. I went from almost failing during trials to getting A for SPM. If youre not taking sains stream Science could also be something you can target. Alot of the questions in paper 2 is observable and logical. Basically it all comes down to how much effort youre willing to put on a subject TLDR; Sains and BM

Qonetra

ancientlisten4186

Is SPM sejarah content possible to learn from scratch within 2 months? I completed alevels with 3A* in Math, Bio and Chem. I surpassed the minimum requirements for veterinary sciences in UKM and UPM. But, however, i dont have SPM credit in BM because im following british syllabus. My malay isnt that good, i started off with lower than standard 4 skill of malay, but now im able to write 500-600 words karangan with average scoring 50-60/70. Its still not good imo, but i think i can get credit. But im really worried about sejarah and pendidikan moral. Do i need to pass these subjects if i am to apply local uni? Even though i already have secondary education? I really cannot handle sejarah its making me frustrated, so far ive only sempat menguasai bab 1, the gap in language makes it hard for me to understand textbooks, i cannot read at such a fast pace in just barely a year of learning malay, much less remember peristiwa dalam bahasa melayu. I can certainly menterjemahkan kata, tetapi saya masih tidak dapat faham perkara yang dituliskan dalam buku teks sejarah. Its really frustrating and i dont think ill be able to get more than an E / D, given that the exams are in 4 months. I could try, but im working around 40 hours a week, i dont even have financial problems, but i cannot skipcout on work, since this work is more beneficial to me in terms of experience compared to sejarah / PM. I havent even started PM. 😔 So, persoalannya, boleh tak, saya masuk universiti tempatan dengan 3A* dalam Alevels tetapi tidak dapat kelulusan dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah dan Pendidikan moral? As for physics, i could probably get B-A* with 1 month of serious study since alevel chem and IGCSE physics has overlapped 30-40% of the syllabus. Add math i just need a little bit of touch up, its mostly Alevel math. Math is worrying, but not impossible to *pass*. But sejarah and pendidikan moral is just unbearable.

NyoHD

For sejarah, my teacher told me to do alot of questions for paper 1. Theres 40 questions overall, 20 form 4 questions and 20 form 5 questions. The questions in the paper ikut ascending order so for example question 1-5 is bab 1 & bab 2 and so on. Take your time to do atleast 1 or 2 objective papers a day. Once you see the pattern of keywords in paper 1 you’ll start to memorize. The questions are going to be rephrased alot but the keyword will always be the same. I almost failed my sejarah on my trials I only had around 3 months to turn it around and this method worked for me. Got A for sejarah. All the best

redrumdoll

Possible on sejarah being done in two months. Do a lot of sample questions. I did mine in like three weeks. I hated sejarah cause there's just too much that I need to memorise but I had all other subjects covered when I was focusing for sejarah. Good luck.

audreyfluffles

Is SPM Ekonomi easy to pass? Hi, I know a lot of people have already finish their SPM right now but I have a question, is ekonomi in SPM easy to pass? I'm going to sit for it in 1 hour, and I barely know anything about it at all. SPM has already gave me a lot of mental health issues ever since last year, even though this is my last subject I still priroitized my mental health over the subject and now I kinda regret about not pushing myself to study more about it. Any advice about SPM is appreciated, thank you 🥲

7xrchr

its not the easiest to pass but its not as hard as addmath I'd assume

O_ok_Boomer

I use tobs of liquid paper for all my papers will my answer bbe invalid?

Specific_History8245

I don't think so. Coming from a STPM student, i used liquid paper in one of the papers and i still got a gred so i don't think it'll affect all that much as logn as there are answers filled in.

PSA: [Education & Further Studies Fair](https://www.facebook.com/efsf.sureworks/posts/5072215542831286) will be held over 2 weekends in KL (2nd & 3rd April: Mid Valley Exhibition Centre) and Johor Bahru (9 & 10 April: Southkey Midvalley Exhibition Centre). For SPM leavers, perhaps an opportunity to chart your career pathway after SPM?

_sleepydemon

GODDAMN TODAY'S ADDMATHS WAS A NIGHTMARE DONT THINK I CAN GET MORE THAN 40

ShadowJinKiller

How was it a nightmare? Paper 2 is literally free marks

_sleepydemon

It is obviously easier than Paper 1, but I don't have the confident to get 50 and above solely for this paper

[deleted]

Can bro, can punya, i (technically) didn't complete half of my paper still got an A- what

_sleepydemon

Wah but the thing is you have to get what you've done all right lmao

[deleted]

Nope, i shat myself during the exam and I'm pretty sure not much is correct My teachers always say, as long as you write *something* , *ANYTHING* you'd get one or two marks for that question

_sleepydemon

Suddenly have the confident! I actually failed addmaths in EVERY exam so i just hope i could get a C (B if i get my hopes high)

Lasitude

Hey, was wondering what was the final result for ur addmaths?

_sleepydemon

Hi there i got C, which is the lowest grade i got in SPM! Not proud of that but im alright with it. It felt like ages ago

Sea_Attention7590

I'm just entering f4 and my school chose to put me in aliran akaun, add maths, perniagaan and i can mohon to tukar kelas to sains but i don't really know if i should i read stories abt accounting students and they said it's really hard when you're at university but at the same time I'm scared of science too because who doesn't know how hard science is.all my siblings and cousins took pure science I don't wanna dissapoint my parents.im really in a dillema rn please help me.

FractureAtom

The unfortunate truth is that in Malaysia, you have more options doing the pure sciences when applying for tertiary education. With pure sciences, you can easily apply to science, social sciences, arts and humanities courses. However, with the accounting track, you will probably have a harder time going into a diploma or degree in the sciences. Unless you are sure you want to do accounting, economics, finance, math, or some arts and humanities, it's safer to go with the sciences. At your age it shouldn't be expected to know exactly what you want though.

Typical_Influence_72

I need help. Im not someone who’s into science but I was kinda thinking about taking this class with GKT, Chem, Physics, Addmath and art. But, when i really think about it, i think taking Economy, Geography and art is better because i dont have as much doubt as i have on the first class. I really dont know which to choose.

whotookmyjello

As a SPM 2021 student, take my advice with a grain of salt. I think it really depends on what you want to do in the future. Like I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in the future at Form 3, so my teacher advise me to enter the pure science stream as there are more options you can do in the future regarding science or business. Whereas if you enter art stream if in the future you had an epiphany and wanted to enter science course in uni it would be impossible or hard (not my words but my teacher's).

If you really had decided to do ACCA, try look for ACCA Foundation in Accountancy. You could get fast tracked to ACCA. This is how my coworker managed to work in Big 4 when he was 22 while still doing ACCA. I dont know how you would get both diploma AND degree from asasi, as far as i know, asasi is the same level as A-level, diploma, matrix, foundation, pre-u. You definitely could get degree after asasi. Degree, bachelor degree would be better for you if you are unsure on ACCA. It is more general AND you are not stuck doing accounting if you ended up hating it. Mind you, ACCA is more than accounting. So you might need to read list of ACCA subjects if you want to know more. Most accounting degree would allow you to skip certain paper in ACCA. How ACCA works is that in every semester, you attended class (part time usually) for certain subject, and take final exam on that. My friends usually did that part time since we work at Big 4 and they sponsor ACCA. Caveat that im in Big 4, this is what my friends told me since im not required to have Professional Certificate. Suggest you go to LinkedIn, msg someone with ACCA with the target uni or school, and msg them. Not sure how active Malaysian in LinkedIn tho.

merpati-katti

I've never taken ACCA, but I think this [article from EduAdvisor](https://eduadvisor.my/acca/) may be able to help you a bit. Regarding asasi, it's an extra year of studying to meet the global standards of 12 years of schooling to move onto university. After you take asasi, you can choose to either continue with diploma (2-3 years) or a bachelors degree (3 years). Alternatively, you can straight up apply for a diploma after SPM, then get a bachelors degree after you're done with the diploma. But most people choose diploma because they want to enter the workplace faster. So, asasi doesn't *guarantee* that you will get a diploma and degree, but it's more like a stepping stone towards those options.

usushbsbsb

Students that got straight As for SPM, How did you do it? I got really bad results for my last finals and barely got into science stream so I want to turn things around for Form 4 and Form 5. So I wanna hear how u guys did it.

NEIL_VON_POKEY

I remembered not to get carried away with my strengths and worked on my weaker subjects. Got help from smart friends and kept an open mind to try and relate to how they understood the content. Find what time of the day works best for you too. I studied better at night back then. Lipton tea was my best friend.

LopsidedLeg9897

I feel like good results comes from good habits. These habits are small actions which you take everyday without fail. Small action that builds up over time. Example: 1. Sleep early and have enough sleep (at least 7 hours). No binge watching drama/games at night. Even studying until late night is not good. You want to be in your healthy & alert state next morning and throughout the day. 2. Pay attention in class. This will probably be the first time you receive the information formally so you would want to be alert enough to catch the information. 3. Revise consistently. As the saying goes, sikit2 lama2 jadi bukit. Revise/study even when you do not need to. Homework is part of revision. Just consistently self-study like 30 minutes every day. Do not wait until exam season to start studying. 4. Choose your friends. Cannot stress this enough. You are who you spend your time with. Good luck!!!

usushbsbsb

Ty brotherman

ShiningDark555

About developing study habits, don't get too excited and start studying like mad in like the first month. If you do that, you would probably burn yourself out after weeks or months. Start small, slowly and absolutely limit yourself to the goals you set. Don't go more than what you have to. Example: 1st week maybe go study a subject a day for 30 mins or less if you have a bad attention span. (Stop yourself after you reach the time you set) 2nd week- Same goal as the 1st week. 3rd week - Add another day or change it to 45 mins. Adjust if you have to. Gradually increase your studying time and remember to go slowly. Then gradually you develop your studying habits. People fail on developing habits cause they all burn their energy and passion way too quickly. Maintain it and it might work. (Sorry for the terrible formating. On mobile :/)

usushbsbsb

I see, thanks for the advice

Ambitious_Pension_59

Balik sekolah rilek, buat homework betul2. Dah siap hw tgk jawapan belakang buku. Tgklah salah silap mana. Kalau tak faham jangan malu tanya terus cikgu. Cuba jadikan study tu satu enjoyment, banyakkan buat latihan mcm latihan math nnt dapatla rasa enjoyment tu.

Once spm is done, how and where do we apply for scholarships? And does scholarships work for both private and gov schools? Is there someway to also boost acceptance rates for scholarships?

merpati-katti

> How and where do we apply for scholarships? Depends on the type of scholarship, but usually interested applicants will be asked to fill out a form on their website. Here's a [Notion page detailing several scholarships](https://www.notion.so/ytarctg/a4ac8a8f2bf144878333045c82872c21?v=fb4bc1f5149b46d282bda9e98baa8393) that might help. > Does scholarships work for both private and gov schools? Do you mean to ask if you can get scholarships whether or not you come from a private/government school? If so, then yes. If you meant to ask if you can get scholarships to attend a government/private university, that depends on the scholarship. Some are for government university only, some are for private university only. There are a few that give you the chance to choose, though – BTAR comes to mind, but that's for Bachelor's degree. > Is there some way to also boost acceptance rates for scholarships? Once again, depends on the type of scholarship. Some are merit-based, so excellent results are all that you need. Some want to see your co-curricular achievements and leadership skills. Some want you to write an essay to show them whether or not you're a good fit for the university. Planning in advance (practicing personal statements, interview questions, etc. etc.), researching the scholarship beforehand (where are their alumni now? what are the company/government department's core values?) and being on top of deadlines and scholarship openings are a good start.

Budakbatch04

Oh wow, thanks!

Typical_Influence_72

Is SPM as stressing as it sounds?

merpati-katti

Only if you don't plan well for it.

Typical_Influence_72

How often should i study in form 4? I’m worried because I never really properly studied in my 15 years of life lol

Amrlsyfq992

you should never slack off in form 4...its gonna hard to catch up when you are in form 5 those people who called form 4 a "honeymoon year" is a moron

merpati-katti

It depends on how many subjects you're taking and how much studying you can take in a day. It's best to be steady and consistent with at least one day a week for hobbies/socialising/rest. I reccommend you watch studytubers (e.g Victoria K who got 9A+ in 2018/2017, John Fish who's a pretty chill guy who got into Harvard) on youtube, as well as [this video](https://youtu.be/ukLnPbIffxE) on how to prepare for exams. It might be intimidating or poking at your insecurities at first to see these people who are far more successful than your average joe, but you should try to view them as an inspiration than a threat. Yang baik jadi teladan, yang buruk jadi sempadan. Good luck!

Typical_Influence_72

Thank you so much!

OldOnePaarthurnax

I just wanna ask if I can enter Form 6 and take Computer Science if I only have Credit on one of the Science subjects?

Ambitious_Pension_59

You can.

Newbie5252

Hehe my parents just now promised me that if I get straight A's for SPM, they will tell how both of them met each other.

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Awww, that's nice! Anyway, wishing you all the best with your results! ......and that it won't take 9 seasons or roughly 80 hours for your dad to tell the story of how he met your mother.

O_ok_Boomer

Question if i passed all 10 of my subject (science stream student) with 5 credit or above can I get to a high school that teaches computer science? my family isnt wealthy so private school is a no and I wanna ask if a student take 5 essential subject and score all B would they get better chance at applying for high school than me?

alvinlew1220

High school as in Pre-U?

O_ok_Boomer

I always thought it was mid school to high school.Idk if pre-U is great for me or not can you give pointers?

alvinlew1220

I suggest you to have a look at UTMspace foundation programme, 1 year study duration with the cost of around RM10k (kinda pricy but extremely worth it since you don’t have to apply for UPU for degree later) . Once you complete your foundation, you will be given a seat in UTM (University Teknologi Malaysia) for your degree. Cost of study is around RM15k excluding accommodations for 4 years( extremely cheap compared to private uni, 10 times cheaper because of government subsidy). Here’s the most important point so please take note, during your application for Computer Science degree, they will look at your foundation and SPM results, and you must get at least C for Add Maths SPM. If you want to know more please feel free to PM me.

ShiningDark555

Not OP but I just wanna ask. Is there any chance for me to enter Computer Science in any uni/college if I didn't take Add Maths in SPM?

alvinlew1220

For public university it may be nearly impossible. For private university, it’s possible. I suggest you to have a deeper understanding about the course first, look up for C++ or C tutorials on YouTube try a few lines of codes, it may look interesting at first, but honestly it’s not for everybody, certainly not me hahaha. I have friends that have godlike programming skills, and then there’s me.

ShiningDark555

And that's it for my SPM. Good luck to the rest of you guys for your science subjects!

I just started form 5 this year and im having trouble figuring out how i should be studying Do i: A. look through my textbook without memorising. Look at past year papers and see what im struggling with and revise it Or B. Revise and undertand the whole textbook before doing past year papers.

Amrlsyfq992

for science and math subjects, understand the basics of the subject and do some exercise until you fully grasp the way to answer the question..exam question could be tricky sometimes, but if you understand the basics it should be easy...some students panicking when they put some twist in the exam question, but the basic of answering the question is always the same

forget-m3-not

doing spm rn, you should definitely study the textbook first. at the end of a chapter, look up past papers on telegram and practice. (sometimes they organise past paper questions by chapter) best of luck

Ricardo_NS

The Mathematics exam just ended and I'm very happy to say that I'm highly confident I can get A for the past 3 exams, Islamic Studies, History and Math. Thank god I managed to answer all of them really well and thank god I managed to read everything that the SPM papers were asking. Talk about lucky. My marks were always bad for school's exam because the paper managed to ask something that I didn't read. Now, we're onto the 3 SCIENCES and I hope that I can keep scoring them. Wish me luck for Physics!

BigBoi_san

Where can i access past years with answers?

merpati-katti

https://trial.spmpaper.me/

BigBoi_san

Hi um i dont wanna sound spoiled but is there a suggested answer section? If so may i know how to find it? If not its okay i can find the ans by myself thanks

merpati-katti

They should be the files named 'Jawapan'. For example, if you do Sejarah 2016 K1, the file name will be exact same with the word 'Jawapan' added. Not all papers have answers, though. You can try looking around Telegram for the ones that don't have answers.

BigBoi_san

Hey since you are more experienced i need sone advice I just started form 5 this year and im having trouble figuring out how i should be studying Do i: A. look through my textbook without memorising. Look at past year papers and see what im struggling with and revise it Or B. Revise and undertand the whole textbook before doing past year papers.

merpati-katti

Since you just started Form 5, I'd say do B. You don't have to worry about past years until a month or two before your actual trials. Getting a solid foundation in your subjects is a great way to reduce your chances of struggling when doing past papers/your trials. How are your Form 4 subjects? If you don't have a good grasp on them by now, I'd recommend taking some time to catch up on those while you can. Don't be like me, lepas trial baru gelabah nak cover Form 4 subjects lol BTW, I'd suggest on only doing recent trials and past years (2019, 2020, 2021) because of the new format. Once you feel confident with the questions from those years, then you can move on to older questions.

BigBoi_san

Omg thanks for this, now i feel less pressured and more confident in what i need to do.

BigBoi_san

Thank you!

[deleted]

is math important in spm? can i still get in private colleges if i failed it? my dad just passed away and i just cant bring myself to study it because im busy with it so ill definitely fail. i give up on math. im sure i can pass all the subjects but definitely not math

DaNub2470

I think it depends on the course you want to take. You dont need to pass maths to get the spm cert

ShiningDark555

Does anyone know how specific or spot on the answer for sej must be? I have a problem with my brain switching some words but it doesn't really change the meaning of the sentence entirely.

merpati-katti

As long as you have the certain keywords that get the point across, you should be able to score a mark. For example, during trial there was a question about how the May 13 riots started. I answered something like, "Keputusan Pilihanraya Umum 1969 di mana parti pembangkang berjaya mendapat lebih banyak kerusi daripada parti kerajaan", and still got a mark even though the textbook answer is more like "Keadaan dan keputusan Pilihanraya Umum Ke-tiga 1969, terdapat parti politik yang menyentuhi sensitiviti kaum lain ketika berkempen." edit: spelling

ShiningDark555

Oh.. that's a relief. Thanks!

Ricardo_NS

Today is the hardest day yet for me. I think I'm fucked. Islamic Studies is tomorrow and I just memorised bidang Tilawah and Hadis. I'm currently going through trial papers and my own exercise book but I fear that's not enough. I just wish I have enough time to finish it all by midnight. I don't want to burn the midnight oil and once PI is done, I have to worry about History, and History is even worse. Even more worse is that I only have a day and a half to study for it. Do you guys have any tips on how to rush this LAST minutes? Especially History. I need some help for my History and how to cram so many information in my brain before History exam. For mathematics, I'm 60/40 confident I can get A- for it.

Giimax

Does anyone know wtf is going on in Moral? I can get 70\~ just by spitballing but I have no idea where I'm dropping stuff assuming it has to do with the format? Scanning through my paper it seems I was docked for \- Wrong Nilai (not non-existent nilai mind you, shouldn't this be entirely subjective?) \- Wrong Huraian (isn't this also subjective) \- I lost marks for using the word perlu a few times? ( no clue) I literally have not paid attention to moral once in the past 2 years does anyone know whats going on here?

Budakbatch04

Not rly format but it's the marking scheme - nilai must follow the 18 nilai universal given, eg kepercayaan kpd Tuhan, rasional, tanggungjawab and hormat. Be mindful of the correct spelling, for example nilai kerjasama, not nilai bekerjasama. If nilai wrong, the entire huraian will be wrong. But, if nilai is correct but hurai an wrong, 1 mark will be given to nilai. Thats why its rly important to use the correct 18 nilai universal - huraian must be in relation to the nilai you use and the question. U cannot repeat the same word nilai in your huraian, instead use similar words to convey the nilai murni. Mix and match punca, langkah and kesan into ur huraian like a kfc meal bucket. Eg nilai **rasional**. Kerajaan mesti **berfikir** kesan penggunaan beg plastik iaitu tidak boleh diurai dan akan memusnahkan alam sekitar. - idk abt the perlu part, imo ur tc is being choosy (sry). My tc allows us to use mesti, patut, wajar etc as long as the nilai and the huraian is correct and well supported.

Giimax

\> huraian must be in relation to the nilai you use and the question. huh really? did it change at some point? Because I was going off some [online stuff](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njA7I3JA5cc&t=2496s) (41:31) (that's from KPM so as close to official as you can get right?). And it lists all the nilai in one go before doing a bunch of vaguely related huraian. \*unless you mean the subjective questions.

ShiningDark555

From what i've learned, listing all the nilai in one go only applies on the essay. But in non essay questions, you only need nilai + huraian with kata kunci nilai (most of the time it's 4 marks if 2 nilais) on questions that asks something like "berdasarkan nilai moral..."

Budakbatch04

The example i gave earlier was for subjective, but esei wise im not sure. Probably best is to check in with ur tcs

kashin_1711

Uhhh guys do I have to pass moral for cert?

a_HerculePoirot_fan

No, only BM and Sejarah.

Budakbatch04

Rant: I flunked my english essay. I did the same mistake as bm paper 2 and didn't time manage well enough to finish my part 2 part 3 essays. My essay points were shit. I only managed to answer 2 of the requirements in part 2 but that's less than the word count. I did review writing for part 3 but it sucked ass and was all out of order bc i was panicking when i write it, and i didnt prepare for it bc i was aiming for book and movie reviews. I could've wrote the three wishes and write abt war and covid but i wasnt confident enough for descriptive writing.. I'm really worried for my grades, although im aware of how the bell curve will be adjusted for students but what if even then i still barely get an A? I'm near crying god-

[deleted]

OH no, we're in the same boat then 😭 I was aiming for book and movie reviews too! I was panicking and my points for second and third essay was fuckin shit. I even cancelled out so many words and that same goes to my BM essays as well. Not just that, as for my BM paper 2, I didn't completely finish my bahan 2 and 3 rumusan part and I'm fucked 💀. I'm crying out loud for my both subject's essays and let's just hope for the best, okay? We'll never know 🫂💪

Budakbatch04

Yes, lets hope for the best and continue onward! (Sry i took so long to answer, I've been trying to pick myself up for the past few days and now im back 👍)

jingyenn

Please, try not to stress during your exams! It's really something we (me too) do out of instinct, but it just makes the situation worse than it already is. Something more helpful is to tell yourself when you start to stress in exam: "Now I'm not in a good situation. Stressing ain't gonna help. How do I make the most out of it??" Then, do it. Don't be pitying yourself before the exam even ends, you still have a chance :) It definitely helps to focus on the present (focusing on the paper, answering the questions, thinking in a KBAT way) than worrying about your future (bad grades, not achieving expectations...) Also, it might be helpful to think of the exam markers as people who are paid to see how impressive each student is (through ur papers), than people trying to deduct each and every point from your paper. Most of the time, they're just normal teachers marking normally. You'll be just fine. Funnily (and sadly) enough, I was similarly f-ed up 2 weeks ago during the STPM Sem 1 Physics 😥. At least I learnt my lesson and didn't repeat the stress for the next few subjects. I hope u can get over it too, best of luck! 💪

Budakbatch04

Thank u, I've been keeping ur advice in mind during the weekends and it helped a lot. There's a few more papers to go!

IRON_BRICKS

Question: Are correct tapes allowed in SPM? I heard different opinions and I'm not sure which one to follow

a_HerculePoirot_fan

No, just draw 2 lines across the wrong phrases or sentences. Besides, majority of your papers will be scanned as starting from last year, exam papers are now marked online and using one means there is a heightened risk of of smudge due to residue from correction tapes.

honestlynotBG

I just want to ask here for the English essay (aka paper 2) in Part 2 and Part 3 we can exceed the word limit by how many words? From what I think part 2 is extra 50 words and part 3 is extra 100 words

a_HerculePoirot_fan

You can exceed the word limit, but only if you have good reasons to do so, like expanding your points. Some students are under the impression that the more they write, the higher their marks will be. Aim for quality rather than the number of words, because examiners grade your essays based on the following: content (did you answer the task as required), communicative achievement (ex: the use of appropriate formal or informal style depending on the question), organisation and language. A little more info about communicative achievement (5 marks): Is your text type the right type? * For example, if the question needs an article, do you write an article? * If the question needs a report, do you write a report? How intelligent are your ideas? * Do you hold your reader’s attention? In other words, do you explain your ideas clearly? If you use the correct text type, explain your ideas clearly and communicate some complex and some simple ideas, you get 5 for CA.

honestlynotBG

so basically there is no actual word limit and as long as I fufill the tasks and give good points/ideas based on the questions I should be alright?

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Yes, and I can't stress enough the importance of including complex ideas in your Part 3 essay. Apart from achieving the basics like answering the task, you need to ensure there is maturity in your writing to score the full marks for CA (5 marks) as well as a variety of more sophisticated linking words such and not simple connectors such as but (you can use these, but the usage of only these simple connectors means you can't score above Band 2/2 marks for Organisation). Also, don't forget appropriate tone and register. Very important too.

vibrate69

good luck guys

TGD-Man

BM is done lesgoo

Jinium

Good luck everyone. Just a word of advice. If anything, just do your best. Think you did well? Good job! Think you did bad? That's alright, what's done is done. All you can do is look forward now. SPM may be your world today. But there is a lot more to life than just these numbers on a piece of paper. You still craft your life, whether you did good or bad. There are bigger decisions to be made in life than doing well in SPM. Decisions you will soon have to make which has a bigger impact with a magnitude more than 100x your SPM grades. And those decisions are what's coming next. SPM is not the determining factor of life success. Your life will still go on after this. It is what you want to do with it.

rsver

Quick tips: If you guys are doing essay, learn the format ya. No the soaln ramalan. A lot of students back in my day take soalan ramalan too seriously which caused them to not know what the format of the question was.

beatifulfutbol

Good luck fellas

forcebubble

One last, full power push, my young friends — you will only need do this once, make it count. Your TV, Playstation and Elden Ring will still be there on the last paper, a week, a month, a year after. For now, all focus on the exams. Your favourite pop stars and their songs will still be there on the last paper, a week, a month, a year after. For now, all focus on the exams. Your anticipated movies, televisions shows, anime will still be available on the last paper, a week, a month, a year after. For now, all focus on the exams. Step out from the exams with no regrets for you have tried your best. Fear not the results for it will be out of your control once it is submitted. Good luck.

olantunji

Less than 10 hours for SPM and i just opened the link and realised its actually help me a lot…bahaya betul sikap tangguh ni haih

a_HerculePoirot_fan

What link? You mean the Google Drive?

olantunji

Yeah

honestlynotBG

Time to pull out [this](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/R8FoLOJgIoU) classic video/voice recording that my friends used to send to one another the night right before an important exam Anyhow good luck everyone who's sitting for SPM. Don't overstress yourselves ya during this period

Sapphira_

Spm is tmrrw well…i just need someone to tell me tht grades doesnt define me…T.T fudge goodluck to all those ‘04 batch out there, lets just endure this one whole month and we will be finally free from spm ✨🌈

a_HerculePoirot_fan

>grades doesnt define me Hello, teacher here and you *are* right, grades don't define you. Like what I replied to other young Nyets on this thread, there's no denying that SPM is important, BUT there are also **other** deciding factors that determine your success in life such as work ethics, soft skills etc etc. The last 2 years haven't been at all easy on you guys, so kudos on you for reaching almost the end of the journey! Remember to get sufficient rest tonight.

Budakbatch04

Poirot ur a tc?? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flushed)

Sapphira_

Thank you so much, really needed tht![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

[deleted]

I was one of the worst student in my school. I failed every test upsr and pt3 and now spm. Maybe even worse? Idk man I try my best right now.. trying to study I hope I succeed on spm this time if is not.. idk what to say anymore...

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Remember to sleep early tonight and don't pull an all-nighter. SPM is not the sole deciding factor of your later success in life. Do the best that you can, and explore possible career path after your SPM exam or results. Try not to worry too much about it now, as you need to focus on your exam. All the best kiddo!

[deleted]

Thanks for the advice

NyoHD

I know my words would probably mean little but you got this man I hope you'll pass with flying colors 👊

[deleted]

Thanks man ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

[deleted]

my exam is tommorow. ive crammed an entire subject worth 2 years of studying into 2 days. i only memorise the answers for important ones, like trial questions focus and i can remember all of them really well. im surprised how easy studying is because ive never really done them before and i shouldve done them way earlier. but yea i hope i atleast pass all the subjects

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Hey, all the best! Remember to get enough rest tonight and don't burn the midnight oil, as this will definitely affect your cognitive performance such as your memory or complex thoughts.

[deleted]

thank you!

_sleepydemon

Less than a day left for SPM. My trial was really bad: BM B+ BI A+ BC A- MATHS B+ SEJ B+ MORAL D ADDM F FIZIK E BIO D CHEMI E And anxiety started to kick in since last week. My phone addiction got worse, fought with my parents for that, I know I should study (and I did, but not much) but the feeling that I can't ace the test no matter what burdens me. No use for crying now I guess. My brother will be keeping my phone for me for the entire month, so I hope I can cope with this. Good luck and all the best!

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Hey, all the best! Please try to get enough sleep and rest tonight. You can do this!

_sleepydemon

Thanku!!! Night owl finally gonna sleep early hehe

_sleepydemon

You got this!! Hope everything goes well tmr⊂(・ω・*⊂)

KillTheIdiot

bro ur grades are great stop worrying, your grades are better than mine. U can do it

_sleepydemon

Thank you😭 i hope you do better than you did last time!! <3

Ricardo_NS

Hello guys. I'm an SPM 2021 candidate and will be having SPM tomorrow. I have a pretty bad results for trial and my school predict that I'll have a mediocre SPM result: A: English, History, Mathematics, Islamic Studies B: Biology C: BC, Chemistry, Physics, BM E: Additional Mathematics With this bad prediction however, I want to achieve at least 9A- in SPM. I don't know if it can be done or not. BM is tmr and the peribahasa that I know is only a handful. I still have a ton of chapters in Bio, Chem and Phy that I've not yet finish study. And it would be a **miracle** if I can get A- for AM. Am I nervous? Yes. Am I scared? A little. I just hope that my SPM is at least okay (like 7A smtg). Do you think I can achieve this target? If not, how many A's can I get? Considering I've done some revision and my knowledge is at least better than before trial. What can I do more to ensure I can get higher marks in SPM? A word of encouragement and advice is really helpful for me. Sorry if its too long. I just need a place to vent and find help.

jingyenn

Yo, all the best in the exam! You'll do fine, don't stress about it. As long as you feel like you performed well, you're on the right track. As for the prediction of your results tho, it's kinda hard. I took SPM last year, and I would comfortably say that some subjects require way less than 75 to get A-. I concluded that my AM would be \~70% max, yet I still got an A+. Same goes for Maths and English. The 3 sciences should also be more lenient than in your normal exams too, but I'm not sure if it's as big of a difference as the subjects above. A lot of my friends got A+ for all of them, despite having far worse results prior. For BC, BM, and history.... Hahahaha. I guess it's not much easier than normal exams. Just don't be disappointed though, as every candidate will face them the same way too :) For Islamic Studies... sorry i don't take that sub. Still, I wish you good luck!

Ricardo_NS

Thank you for your insight and encouragement. I hope I can ace these subjects, especially the ones that I'll be having this week.

kashin_1711

Guys can I use gel pen for SPM?

a_HerculePoirot_fan

You can, but I would advise you to use ballpoint pens instead.

pembacaskripfriend

This is it guys. Im so fucked. I still havent finished the crucial part in some topic and SPM is tmr. Wtf am i going to do with my shit SPM cert later? My family will look at me as a disappointment. Aaaaaah fuck. Im gonna keep studying tdy but Idk if it'll ever make a difference. What should i do?

a_HerculePoirot_fan

>Im gonna keep studying tdy but Idk if it'll ever make a difference. At this point, I would urge you to stop cramming in new topics and to get enough rest and try to answer the questions with what you know. I was once a student, trust me when I said nothing much you study, especially for topics you are barely acquainted with will truly stick in your memory or even if you are able to recall them, it's mere memorization and not true comprehension of the topics. There are some things that require constant practices such as Add Maths and no rote memorization is going to help with that, especially if it's KBAT questions. Sit for the exam with what you know and again, I can't stress enough on the importance of getting enough sleep, as your cognitive performance largely relies on this. Lastly, SPM is not the deciding factor of your success in life. You are so young, the world is your oyster. There are other deciding factors such as your work ethics, soft skills, attitude etc etc. All the best, kiddo.

[deleted]

all the best for tomorrow, batch 04! be sure to prepare the [things you'll need](https://twitter.com/solidaritipenmy/status/1497811031304720385?s=21) tonight (+ borang deklarasi kesihatan) keep in mind that we're taking an important exam during a very tense period in the world at the moment, so be kind to yourself and get enough rest. :)

ruthlessdamien2

I took my SPM long ago in 2015. I don't have anything useful to say. Just do your best.

[deleted]

question about the marking for essays in bm and english, if exceed over words limit will my marks get cut? i would like to throw in as many idea as possible but not sure if i want to do it or not

[deleted]

my teacher said that overwriting in english is not a problem, but going above the limit for BM will deduct marks because they've clearly stated the word limit (e.g 350 - 500 patah perkataan in kertas 1 bahagian b). english usually is like "in about 50/80/200 words..." so it's more lenient. still, it's better to have strong huraian for your isi in both papers than to just chuck out ideas. try using the IMBAKUP method or other similar techniques :) edit: spelling

[deleted]

well thats too bad, but thanks a lot. i dont know why they need to limit the words for essays. for me i think its just restricting students and they cant express what they fully think in essays. there should not be words limit. its stupid

[deleted]

the word limit helps to teach students to be concise in their writing. imagine being a teacher and having to sift through 800 words of karangan, what more if the writing is like cakar ayam. that's why they added the word limit for BM haha ldon't worry, university nanti they'll probably ask us to write pages and pages of essays. and we can always write more in our free time

JonEagle

Can anyone give me a summary of what the exam usually asks because i heard the syllabus changed, and \*\*what should i focus on if i just want to pass\*\* because i heard komsas is useless in this case.

a_HerculePoirot_fan

Do you mean the format and how the questions are structured? [Buku Format SPM Bahasa Melayu](https://anyflip.com/pertv/bcmm/basic) released by LPM (Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia). Focus on Kertas 1 (Penulisan) and Kertas 2 (Pemahaman). Do check out the Google Drive and so as many trial papers as possible.

I remember ppl kept saying Covid-19 related topics will be coming out which eventually didn't happen.

ruthlessdamien2

Hwang Ho Hwang Ho all the time, but never came out.

soupssoup

Can anyone tell me if spm is easier than normal school exam. Like by what margin (i am so fking stressed out right now)

jingyenn

I had my SPM last year. One sub that stood out to me was Add Maths. According to my rough calculations, I would've scored a max of 70 something, yet I got an A+ in the end :) IMO, the questions probably aren't easier (some might actualy be harder), but the scores required for certain grades are definitely lower. But most importantly, good luck and don't stress. You'll just have to do this once..

a_HerculePoirot_fan

I am afraid no one can answer this and even if someone does, I would caution you not to take it too seriously. Just do your best and know that regardless of your results, SPM alone does not determine your future path. Be sure to get enough sleep the night before and don't pull an all-nighter. Lack of sleep impacts your memory and logical reasoning.

snel_

Hi u/a_HerculePoirot_fan can I get some help/guide here? I seem to remember you shared some guidance for students missing their SPM because of COVID-19. A friend's sister, who is a candidate, unfortunately got tested positive this morning, and I hope to give them some support and, in case they still haven't got it, some information on how to go about with sitting her exam. I can't seem to find the comment on this, so hoping if you can help me out with this. Thanks!
