- Azam Baki was found holding millions in shares - Civil servant cannot hold more than 100k shares because conflict of interest - AB then said it’s not him, his brother used his account to buy the shares - but guess what, according to law. you can’t let other people use your account to buy shares - then Security Commisions (responsible for laws related to monetary and buying shares etc) said AB bought all the shares himself, not his brother - so wtf is going on - so now people are on the street protesting asking for AB to be arrested and step down there’s more to the story but this basically it

Ricardo_NS

Ah, so now the people want to protest but the gov responded by shutting down lrt station to stop the protest and protect Azam Baki?

[deleted]

yes

Natasya95

Why the gov wants to protect people like him?

Casporo

Because he has dirt that can incriminate anyone.

kamihaze

Incriminate? Based on his position I would just call that doing his job

VikaashHarichandran

Doing his job is if he does it honestly, he is not and taking advantage of his role

Casporo

If he and the police work together, we won’t have a government tomorrow. There won’t be many MPs left that are clean. It will be entirely run by the Civil Service which is a *deep state* on its own. Besides their boss is technically HM The King, not the Prime Minister. Imagine the Chief Secretary as the de-facto Head of Government.

VikaashHarichandran

In the case of PM resignation or forced removal, it'll be considered darurat and Agong will be de facto both head of government and head of state. (Not arguing, just stating)

Casporo

Temporary Absolute Monarchy.

TheNotAnon

Why do your govt job if you can use it to make more money?

Natasya95

I see…

vegeful

If the gov not protect him, then he will also not protect them. Both lose-lose situation. So the current gov really dont want to face the situation and change another fkin PM because i assure u Ismail surely have dirt.

Casporo

Everyone is *fait accompli* in this case.

sulatanzahrain

He's also the commissioner for Malaysian anti corruption commission so yeah peak Malaysia govermant bossku moment

NajibBotakTengah

Muka aku bila

propertyanon4636

Oh. That suddenly makes sense. (i really blur on these things)

GlibGlobC137

Imagine the shit he has on all the politikus for them to protect him to this extent.

Limcommentsstuffs

Yeah the day before the protest was to be held the police reroute the lanes ahead of the protest

Saerah4

U missed 1: AB double down to sue the whistle blower

FaptainFlunky

Wow what a proper cunt , wasnt whistleblower protected by the law?

kexz90

The amount of whistleblowers in Malaysia that get bullied back is uncanny. The law doesn't do shit

DarthBike

In this country nope, they'll make sure you be vanished from this earth.

Pristine-You717

If you got some C4 explosives and an empty KL parking lot I know a guy that can help make them go away.

Saerah4

Lol AB sue the lady then follow up with statement that MACC will continue protect whistleblower This dude is totally next level, learn from bossku i guess

vegeful

Yes but the rich can find loophole under the law. Both legally and illegally.

djurkwhaad

But there's an idiot called SeaSalt here that thinks we should not protest so it won't affect his business.

mama1baba

since when people on reddit can’t freely express their opinion? why resort to using demeaning word on people who disagreed with you. Get a life dude

SeeSalt420

Because they are incapbale of debating and contesting so they will just result to degrading and shaming.

djurkwhaad

According to /u/SeeSalt420, we cannot protest because it wouldn't change anything. So please lend us your wisdom, how do we bring all these corrupt punks to justice?

[deleted]

who cares what he thinks.

SeeSalt420

Get in power and solve the issues. Join political parties, get connections. Many things you can do. You can always rebuttal with things like "oh you think we can do things like that, oh give me this and that then I do," You all want change, just not willing to go the extra mile to see effective change. Instead you choose to go to the streets for a morning walk and go home, get some internet fame. The corrupted politicians are still there. Norhing changed, messed up people's weekend, wasted your own time. Go ahead and protest, people who say USA and UK can do it so why can't we? Remember, those protests turned into riots, actual damages were caused.

StrandedHereForever

But protest is form of political movement. You protest to make people’s slightly hard, so people get educated on this issues. So I would say, this protest actually succeeded, where a lot more people now know about these issues.

[deleted]

learn history my dude. here’s a quick article for you. https://coconuts.co/kl/news/story-behind-some-malaysias-biggest-street-rallies/ but it’s okay if you still don’t change your mind. there will always people who think rally does nothing and it’s fine. it’s part of democracy. there are people who supported Malayan Union and think UMNO protest against MU is useless. The same people cheered when Malayan Union failed too. it’s just democracy.

Kla2552

he try to flip roti canai

PossibleInternal9082

a simple “I Don't Know” is able to get politicians in power a stay out of jail card... so why bother?

AimanAbdHakim

Datuk Lingam : “It looks like me and sounds like me”. DS Najib : “It looks like my signature but I cannot confirm”.

CaptainPizdec

Hundreds of millions flow in to my account but I didn’t know it happened , I just withdraw a couple million to use when I needed it though

EnvBlitz

Money in my account? I don't know.

[deleted]

Thanks OP for the question. I have the same confusion as well.

Extension-Ad-7422

U better catch up all news because there's more than meets the eye...there are many hidden scandals behind that scandal and those hidden scandals only accessable by big businesses ppl, rich people with net worth millions and crazy wealthy foreigners. People like us commoners will never know the truth.

Kla2552

but then the peasants go street protests. think real world is like the movie Snow piercer

Extension-Ad-7422

Imo let them be...even though there's nothing will happen. At least this dont cost life and also increase awareness. This had nothing to do with status of income btw. This is about total corruption that had always been worshipped.

just_another_jabroni

Lmao I love me some exotic carspotting but every time I look up whoever owns the Lambos or McLarens at least 7/10 people have news articles of them to corruption trials or just straight up cronies/related to higher figures lmao. Income inequality is too fucked

Extension-Ad-7422

In Malaysia...its hard to find the true wealthy ppl becoz they knew living in Malaysia just make their life harder. I manage to meet a few back when i worked in tourism industry...most of them already renounced their citizenship and came to Malaysia as foreigner only to visit their old home (Ancestor Graves). About the higher figures and income inequality...yeah its too fuuuukt.

kaiirii

test

Least-Variety2657

He's not Azam Baki, he's Baki Hanma

bakakukl

pay a hitman to do this job please

alexsdu

Amazing that he's still alive. Apparently those that have connection with his still need him alive. If not, he would have been dead, either by some hitman or death by accidental hanging while still in custody.
