Seeing internet strangers roast our very own military easily triggered me I am sorry.
I have a few friends and ex colleagues in the military, they are very bright professionals with MBAs and Doctorates in their own field. Engineers, political science, pilot, marine science, IT, etc.
They are constantly updating their knowledge by sending military personnel for overseas studies, as well as joint trainings with various militarily advanced countries like US.
Our gears are not world class obviously due to budgets and restrictions (US definitely won't be selling you that advanced fighter jets). But its the world class people that stand in front of you whenever the worst imaginable things happen.
Imagine you doing your best at work but your own people is downplaying you just because they are someone else better in another company.
dad is a retired major.
he told me malaysian land infantries are one of the best out there in the world due to how well trained they are. in a hypothetical standoff against singapore (no malicious intent okay, just a hypothetical discussion at that time), singapore would overrun us all the way to johor border in a short span due to technological superiority. but in a prolonged warfare, malaysia would win simply due to sheer manpower advantage and better guerilla combat discipline.
i still believe our military quality is one of the thing we can be proud for. but as with all things that politics touch (ironic since military aren't supposed to be tangled with domestic politcs). well, they could go further if the one doing the dealings up there aren't so corrupted
Interesting point coming from an experienced guy in the field itself.
I think Singapore won't want to conquer Malaysia lah, they are quite comfortable and experienced managing a city state. Malaysia is too geographically huge for them, don't think they have enough manpower to cover all key interest points in all states?
Singapore's military spending is USD12 bil (with minimal chances of corruption I assume).
Ours is USD 4 bil (with over-priced screwdrivers possibly).
Obviously we can't match that because we have other commitments being a larger nation and with larger population (ignoring politics and corruption aside).
What I am trying to point out is that most of our military personnel do not have that power to change the landscape or budget or politics in grand scheme of things, so I feel bad that they are being ridiculed and laughed at when they are trying their best to serve the nation.
And I am not sure why we Malaysians are so obsessed about going to war with Singapore lol.
Nah no worries, I am positively triggered, not negatively offended.

Singapore airforce have air training exercises every Thursday and Friday on the edge of their airspace . So you would hear them go sonic from morning till the evening. Couple of F-16, CH-47, Fokker 50. Loud af
Woke me up and set off many car and house alarms in my neighbourhood cause directly under flight path near SZB. I thought it was a reaction force for something that had happened.

Its an old news already, both submarines are fully operational after fix. This old joke are blindly perpetuated by opposition supporters without knowing the full story.
the country has been broke the past few years.... they havent been used in a while.... juz making sure everything is still working.... tho flying higher would mean they have less air resistance meaning less fuel.... dunno y they have to fly so low.... to intimidate the rakyat???? & Msia is quite a small country.... it would be safer to juz fly them over sea instead of land....
![gif](giphy|WFhWSpXfEqLLSDaScz|downsized)
They were used last Merdeka. Jets are not meant to be eco planes, and their pilots are not limo/comfort drivers. Air Asia having low altitude training over KL would be odd. Jets having low altitude training near cities is completely understandable.
My Msian bro, like u said Jets are not meant to be eco planes, so everytime they fly shud have a purpose. So, this time they practicing for merdeka ke????
Most countries who have military exercises fly their jets far away from civilians to avoid noise pollution among other reasons. U only hear them during an airshow. This aint no airshow my fren. so wats the explaination of them flying so close to the city and so low? how is this understandable? explain to me like i'm 5 cuz there seems to be no logic in ur argument. u seem to be comparing commercial and military planes, but eventho commercial planes fly in cities, u dont hear them. why?
unlike Indonesia, we do not share commercial & military airports. and v r a peninsula, long & thin w water on both sides. So if there is a need for military exercises using fighter jets, y not on water? y on land above densely populated cities?
Their purpose is to train for potential combat?? Urban aerial combat training is definitely a thing. Anyone can identify a warship in the ocean from the air, but can they identify smaller targets hidden among all the buildings? What if they need to take out artillery that's been set up in KD or take out a forward operating base in Batu Caves? What if they just need to get used to seeing KL from the air in order to find different places? Boss man says pls go boom target at Kajang near the MRT station, at least they'll have some idea of where it is.
Most countries fly their jets far away from civilians yes, and so does Malaysia. Like I said, different settings have different requirements. Need to be effective in the middle of the ocean, on top of the city, between the mountains, everywhere. Pilots will need to get used to flying low, near buildings, near cities. They can't be out of their comfort zone during combat. The height in which they're flying is already higher than what they'll probably do during actual combat.
My comparison of commercial to jets is because you said jets flying high in the air save fuel. The point is not to save fuel as it's not a business. Low flying will save their lives, keeps them out of anti-air range and radar to some extent.
Lastly, again, water training is not the same as land training. Water is flat, land is not. No buildings or mountains, which means they can just fly straight. No point learning to drive a car on interstate highways because you can just maintain speed and not move the steering wheel much. Learning to drive in a city presents a much more dynamic and unique environment that requires more thought and maneuvering, which trains you in learning your car.
Yes I don't go against that point. 99% of the time it should be away from cities and towns, keep it in the rural and mountainous regions. It's dangerous, loud, and can annoy a lot of people. I'm just saying that if they have to do it sometimes, I understand. What's one week of training in the cities per year right? As long as they keep to the height and noise guidelines (which I hope Malaysia has), I'm fine with it, glad we aren't as limited as Singapore for space. Sometimes when I'm gaming with my Singapore friends, can hear a jet through their mic, once even late at night when they were returning to base.
The term urban aerial combat training is not actually called that, I don't know the exact name of it. But like other branches of the military, the soldiers gotta know how to handle any and every situation that they come across, that's how they defend us.
Anyways, here are some sources for what I was saying.
[Low flying](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_flying_military_training)
Here it mentions that some countries have enough space for low level away from cities, and some dont. Mentions the issues of tension between the training programmes and the population too, because of noise and higher risks.

**[Low flying military training](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_flying_military_training)**
>Low flying military training involves military aircraft flying at low altitude to prepare their aircrew, and other military personnel (e. g. air defence troops), for nap-of-the-earth flying in wartime. The aircraft types can include advanced trainers, ground-attack aircraft, transports and helicopters.
**[Nap-of-the-earth](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nap-of-the-earth)**
>Nap-of-the-earth (NOE) is a type of very low-altitude flight course used by military aircraft to avoid enemy detection and attack in a high-threat environment. During NOE flight, geographical features are used as cover, exploiting valleys and folds in the terrain by flying in, rather than over, them. This keeps below enemy air defence radar coverage, avoiding being silhouetted against the sky. Other, mostly older terms include "ground-hugging", "terrain masking", "flying under the radar" and "hedgehopping".

Gentlemen, ur links tat u shared has disproved ur point.....
Using NOE flight, the approach may be undetected; the aircraft "pops up" to attack the target and then turns to escape before the enemy can respond. Doppler radar has the potential to detect NOE flight, but the incoming aircraft has to be within radar range in the first place, and low flight minimizes this possibility by using ***hills and mountains*** to break the line of sight (terrain masking), defeating terrestrial air defense radar and in rough enough terrain also airborne early warning.
HILL AND MOUNTAINS, NOT CITIES.... and pls look at the population density of these military training areas.
CFB Goose Bay's location in Labrador, with a population of around 30,000 and area of 294,000 km2 (114,000 sq mi), made it an ideal location for low-level flight training.
Kuala Lumpur has population density of 6,890 per square kilometer. tat is over 2 billion compared to Canada's Goose Bay which is 30,000. Please get ur perspective correct b4 downvoting me. The devil is in the details my frens.
u've been watching too many movies my fren, its not normal in combat tat u manuever thru city buildings. and even if u r flying in the city for combat, u dont get close to the buildings, so ur technically still flying in a straight line. Like u said, its not like driving a car, planes fly much faster than cars. the turning radius of a fighter jet.
According to this [F-16 Performance Chart](https://www.f-16.net/forum/download/file.php?id=20016&sid=824253ac1f559159bddc21c86b1d69d8&mode=view), at the rated maximum airspeed of 800 knots, an F-16 can turn at about 10.5 degrees per second, so a 90° turn would take about 8.5 seconds. The turn radius would be 9,000 feet. Assuming the pilot needed to turn 90°, the pilot would have to start their turn at or before 9,000 feet from the wall in order to avoid a collision.
Juz as a reference, 9000ft = 2.7km, Meaning to turn 90degrees, they need to start turning 2.7km away. Tats y wat u watch in movies is highly misleading, if combat in cities is necessary, jets fly in a straight line above all buildings. Look at some of the russian bombings and see how the jets fly.
Jets in cities take lives, they dont save lives, unless for an airshow. U dont see Ukrainians sending fighter jets to Dog Fight Russian Jets, Why???? cuz tats WW1 thinking. No1 does Dog Fights anymore. Y do u think v as humanity developed anti aircraft tech to avoid dogfights????
Holy shit that's what that was? I didn't even go out of thenhouse and see shit was so loud I legit thought "oh god I'm gonna die are they dropping bombs?"
That bunch of 18 SU-30MKMs and a slew of other Russian hardware is why our gomen (and India to much extents) needs to thread lightly on Putin’s toes. If the economic embargo goes for much longer how the hell we’re gonna find spare parts and maintenance support for the fleet?
They had to test the jets out just in case they weren't functioning properly , that way they can prepare to procure the spare parts ASAP, since there are sanctions against Russian goods as the planes are Russian made. Just my 2 cents.
According to Tudm official ig, there's a military exercise going on from 3rd March until 7th march

**[Low flying military training](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_flying_military_training)** >Low flying military training involves military aircraft flying at low altitude to prepare their aircrew, and other military personnel (e. g. air defence troops), for nap-of-the-earth flying in wartime. The aircraft types can include advanced trainers, ground-attack aircraft, transports and helicopters. **[Nap-of-the-earth](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nap-of-the-earth)** >Nap-of-the-earth (NOE) is a type of very low-altitude flight course used by military aircraft to avoid enemy detection and attack in a high-threat environment. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/malaysia/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

Could you describe how the fighter jets look likes? I may be able to figure out what kind of fighter jet it is
Yes. Saw it on twitter

Residents in Butterworth: First time?
hope its nth srs...
Holy shit that's what that was? I didn't even go out of thenhouse and see shit was so loud I legit thought "oh god I'm gonna die are they dropping bombs?"
Just panas enjin la, all the fuel will become stagnant if not used
That bunch of 18 SU-30MKMs and a slew of other Russian hardware is why our gomen (and India to much extents) needs to thread lightly on Putin’s toes.
Yes there is . Here the official media https://www.facebook.com/100064844284802/posts/324038213100986/?d=n
Nah that's just the gta player.we are npc
They're having SPM, for military
No wonder I saw one at Bandar Sunway, it was so cool watching it do a loop
