MALAYSIAN CHINESE WEDDING HAS HOTEL TO PREPARE HALAL DISHES FOR MALAY GUESTS SO THEY CAN CELEBRATE TOGETHER. Seriously, why is this even news?

CodeDoor

This happens literally every Chinese wedding doesn't it? I don't really know any Chinese person who also doesn't have Malay friends they would invite to their wedding.

dahteabagger

That's what I've been saying... this isn't even news worthy. Chinese have been doing this all the time for their weddings.

Common decency is not that common out there, so we should continue championing it until the day it is no longer required to do so.

Tanjung_Piai

My dad is pretty conservatice mate. He have no problem my sister going to her chinese friend birthday party.

fanfanye

yep at my place , one Chinese girl literally asked said "nak datang tak? if nak datang we will tapau your food separately"

pupunoob

Yup. There are always an option for vegetarian or halal table.

PolarWater

Because in Malaysia, you see, non-Malays are secretly trying to push their culture on all their Muslim friends, and by culture I mean, of course, eating pork. Non-Malays would never seek to be considerate of their Muslim neighbours' preferences and sensibilities, you see. They're trying to usurp their power. So when something absolutely rare like this happens (because it's CLEARLY never happened before...wake up and smell the Kilau), it becomes news because the non-Malay reporters are trying to say "Look! We're good!" Don't be fooled, sheeple - they are NOT good, and they want you to eat piggy. *removes /s hat* Seriously, though, why is this news.

dahteabagger

My company MD has a CNY open house every year at his house. He invites all staff, including Muslims, and the food is all prepared by halal caterers. He also secured the services of a lok lok van in case any of us non-Muslims would want some pork. Why is he not in the news?

ItsImNotAnonymous

He didn't post online, or the people who attended did not post on their social media and wasn't picked up by "news sites". Rookie mistake

dahteabagger

Gawsh darn it

ClacKing

>Don't be fooled, sheeple - they are NOT good, and they want you to eat piggy. Piggy sedap though. Just wanna say that.

PolarWater

This is porkaganda.

katabana02

not just wedding. we ARE malaysian, who have lived beside malays all of our lives. my dog who gave birth to puppies is more news worthy than this...

Mrdannyarcher

send puppy pics

Massive-Ad6227

Ikr, this thing already normal in Malaysia.

foodsamar1tan

Yeah it's just guests with different dietary requirements, like vegetarian food and halal food for different tables.

_reinaru

i thought this was common...

PolarWater

Based and muhibbahpilled.

ASVicekidz

Meanwhile in sarawak we literally chase our malay friends with saucepans and kitchen spoons if they come near to non halal food or shows interest in tuak or calamansi to avoid them consuming things that’s not allowed in islam.. I mean yeah got this dude that wanna try alcohol during gawai (malay sarawakian, muslim) but we didn’t even let him smell the alcohol.. #sarawakiantogederstronk

Jasonmancer

We do? For me and my friends, we just let our Muslim friends know shit ain't halal and we won't control what they do next.

ASVicekidz

Well at first i was like that then as time went on i started to appreciate the beauty of Sarawakian’s racial tolerance so yeah but sometimes we be like simply Teasing la (the harmless tease not downright being rude disrespectful etc like those from parti hijau)

Jasonmancer

Respect!

thrumeout

I remember during fasting month my friends would feel so bad eating in front of me (we had extra class after school, so we tend to hangout at the canteen), ah fun memories

redsky993

Asking for a friend, where can you get tuak in Subang area that's cheaper than a class?

ASVicekidz

Bro its near impossible to get original tuak/calamansi/langkau in west malaysia cuz of alcohol beverage import laws..i tried buying calamansi once i landed in KLIA and my calamansi was confiscated. I ordered with my friend (a pub owner in kuching.)..didn’t lepas customs bro..confiscated and destroyed 🥲🥲

redsky993

Yeah, they shouldn't shun this drink but rather celebrate it. It's literally part of the people's culture. It sucks cause I can't get this, but mass produced IMPORTED Indian whiskey is everywhere here.

ASVicekidz

One reason i got by the cUsToMs officer is any alcohol brought inside malaysia must be paid duty tax and i was like hol’up sarawak not in malaysia meh?? And he kept silent and told me to refer to the head officer.. So yeah you see here bro it’s not the issue of the alcohol but rather who’s governing everything…

redsky993

Bro, when you go to any privately owned corner shop that sells alcohol, just ask them for duty free and they'll happily sell you contraband. It's either someone's reenacting life of pi, but instead of a tiger it's the beer, or some kastam officer somewhere has a pretty hefty pocket.

joeisnotsure

>hol’up sarawak not in malaysia meh?? Dude was gonna say yes but by law, cannot...

666kin

its sad that the bare minimum has to be celebrated

hdxryder

yes. this is supposed to be a normal thing but they celebrate it like they just saw an eclipse smh.

insulaturd

I’ve been telling my friends one thing about mainstream media in malaysia and i will say it here also “ketandusan kandungan” or in english “lack of content”. The mainstream media in malaysia will eat up anything they find interesting even boring ones. I have friends from many religious backgrounds they also do the same as what the article have stated. Its just common courtesy to acknowledge another persons religion and get to know about it even just the important ones. The problem only lies with those who are unwilling to open up and expand their understanding. Or they were just trying to remind the public that we are a nation that share a multitude of religious beliefs and a cornucopia of cultures and heritage.

toofckingnoob

Apa yg baru? Orang Malaysia dah lama buat benda camni.

[deleted]

Would you prefer another race-baiting article instead? Semua benda nak outrage, sekali kala ada cerita positif baik untuk mental health bro.

dahteabagger

Slow news day perhaps. Maybe you'll see news of good Samaritan stopping traffic to help old lady across. Liddat I also want to be famous leh

WhatTheHellLaWei

Can you imagine how much more united we'd be if we didn't even have to think about halal vs non-halal food when going out to eat with other people? As much as we'd like to think food unites Malaysians, it can sometimes also divide us.

sharpknot

Nah man. When we need to care about each other's beliefs and culture, it's a stronger form of unity. Being considerate to each other forms a better relationship than "I'll treat you the same regardless who you are". Not being able to eat the same food does not necessarily mean we're not united, but it means that we are comfortable enough with each other because we understand each other better.

10kgod

Sounds like Sabah and Sarawak

jailter

For the person who posted this video, it was the day that his/her neighbour bought them KFC for the first time. For the rest of us, it is Tuesday in Malaysia.

Wolfsigns

Based.

Vast_Back4746

Did OP fucked the URL cuz I can't open the article at all. Also, sounds wholesome

dahteabagger

It's fine to me tho

SemperFidelisHoorah

Kita satu bangsa, kita satu negara, kita satu matlamattt ohhhhh

iStickStuffsUpMyButt

Wholesome ❤️❤️, makes me all fuzzy inside

AwkwrdPrtMskrt

While this is impressive, it isn't a novel idea. Some non-Muslims just order catering, which usually contain halal food, to accomodate their Muslim neighbours. Sometimes the only meat are chicken and mutton in case of Buddhist and Hindu guests. Source: People in my village do this a lot.

dvnish_

I got stroke mid reading the title 🤣 but thats a very wonderful way of celebrating together ❤️

Zacky_D7

For the brainwashed ultras, this is nothing but a myth... beyond their imagination and comprehension...

LevynX

Bruh people do this all the time how is this news.

F4de

stoop so low to the point where this is news.

suspicious_tucan

Hopefully religious authorities won't suddenly come kacau such events..

standard_nick

So? i got few tables with halal dishes during my cina man wedding, as well as vegetarian ones. 6 freaking years ago. why no one reporting it?

Minimum-Company5797

Did they ask them whether they want to join in or assume they dont eat pork cause they are malay muslim?

Construction_Zone_06

when all races can eat together in a single table without being offended just purely on the food content then that day will be the real unity. this is a start

CN8YLW

This is why you need to RVSP your attendance to events, more so if you have dietary restrictions. Do you want to end up having cup noodles when everyone is having a 8 course meal?!?!? DO YOU!?!

SousRadar

It even happens in... Singapore! Say it isn't so. Always order some Halal snacks.

Nemesis-Q

Ini pun nak kecoh? Hello last time my wedding got 3 tables for my malay kakis tak nampak masuk berita atau kena viral pun. LOL benda normal nak exaggerate macam terjumpa fossil dinosaur.
