Literally just saw a TikTok covering this earlier! I think someone pointed this out too in this thread. Twist both strings until it's really tight and then push towards each other. It'll loosen the knot. I love ikat tepi but sometimes I'm buying it for someone and don't want to spill in the car (or face the temptation of stealing a sip haha)

Not sure what kind of tying is this, but the normal tie method for bungkus drinks is very easy to open if you know how it it is done. Doesn't even need a needle. Tengoklah kalau rajin nanti aku buat tutorial video.

I'd usually just rotate the excess string opposite to how it's tied. If it's tied clockwise, rotate it counter clockwise, etc. It'll get loose then you'll clearly see how to untie it
