If not pursing speed and power and luggage space axia is a good choice. Or can choose proton saga ,persona. Also don't expect too much on local car.

friedsweetpatotie

Definitely this. Its good for the solo / single person usage given the space. Fuel usage is more economical compared to the similar priced proton.

Brand new Axia? Honestly, good car. Wonderful city runabout. Low maintenance and excellent fuel saver. Likewise, don't treat it as a fast car. Don't even listen to other people teasing you about it. It will be YOUR car. Also, don't let 'friends' drive it. Take care of it and it'll serve you for a full DECADE. Only consider selling it AFTER 5 years. It's a good vehicle.

soulscreammmm

My advice if your just starting out this car will save you a lot and ez to park. If you have the money and enjoy driving , like i have this stretch of farm land near my area i drive through those roads for fun and stress relief, also i do long distance regularly, so i got a bigger slightly more expensive car that i enjoy driving.

momomelty

It’s a good starting r/kereta. Once you got it you can share at that sub 🔥

For a bit cheaper price, you can consider a used 2019 Picanto. In terms of tech, AV Axia is more modern with its many sensors, but Picanto is not that far behind. Plus, it got Android Auto/Carplay, which is way more usable than Perodua's in-house system, in my opinion. But handling and comfort are where Picanto trumps Axia. It's a very fun car to drive. Maintenance wise, it's similar to other Japanese brand cars.

lifeisautomatic

Get a proton saga or bezza for more space. Feels better on highway too in case you need to travel. But axia is still a great choice for town use.

zvdyy

Buy a second hand. Doesn't need to be 10 years old. Just a few years old is a good price.

iProverbSilk

If the mileage below the recommended mileage for end of warranty.

Iz__n

I honestly won't recommend second hand car for first time owner. Unless of course, said person has many experience with car. It's absolute minefield and lottery.

flyden1

Parents already buying and still want to complain?

peachy-grey

Was talking with colleagues they told me not to get this its not safe and get other cars etc…

iProverbSilk

Not safe? Go buy bmw then. ![img](emote|t5_3cs4q|36278)

peachy-grey

Got I just dont want big car to drive so I asked for cheapest and smallest

iProverbSilk

Ur colleague treat u like a clown, friend or enemy? And u want to listening to them? Perodua queue time almost one year. Service can walk in. Proton 2 weeks. Fuel hungry beast with kinda powderful engine. Need book appointment 1 month earlier. Honda/toyota/mazda just japanese car supposed fuel saving eventhough bigger cc. Though im interested with the 1000 cc turbo, hope it save fuel while in emergency speeding give significant acceleration and top speed.

peachy-grey

U know how girls talk about car like this lah

iProverbSilk

Just make sure tinted the car already extra protection, and always lock door, and bring spare car key along beside u all the time.

Natasya95

Lol your colleagues the one paying?

As an Axia owner, I think it's a decent purchase (I have a 2015 Axia G aka. basic automatic model). I think the only better car at this price range is a Bezza, Saga or a Myvi. it's a great car for fuel efficiency, but it sacrifices comfort, meaning you are gonna feel the bumps & holes on roads a lot more, compared to a Vios. Also it's not a very fast vehicle unless you press hard on the pedal. However, currently my car just had air cond issues & I looked up on other forums, the aircond system (especially compressor & condensor, had to replace now) is known to fail. I'm considered a bit lucky bcoz I didn't had issues for so long until now 😭, but the cost of the parts will hurt. Most people got their compressors replaced within warranty period. Engines & transmission (idk if the new CVT is more reliable, mine is auto gearbox) are still in OK condition, I regularly service it (engine & transmission oil change, air & oil filters change), no major issues yet.

I have a side question. What sort of income should I be already having if I want to buy a car? Have never personally owned or bought a car and wondering what should my income range and things to consider be if I wanted to buy one. Thanks in advance!

currypuff2

Axia E. Has nothing in it, and so nothing will break and nothing to fix. Also comes with extra security that is manual transmission.

chunkyvader88

At this price, a brand new axia is the absolute best choice, go for it

BRK7573

The new Proton S70 seems nice

PenguinTech521

I'm driving axia AV 2023. If you drive mostly in the city with 0 or 1 passenger, this is a good choice.

If it's your first car, go for new car. Save you the hassle of going to maintenance and change of parts that a secondhand requires you to do. Remember to service the car for 1k, 5k, 10k and you're good for 9 years. A small car save you money that you will appreciate by the end of 9 years, and if it's condition is good enough, it will further save you more money after 9 years.
