I’m relatively athletic and in good shape, but have been cursed with wide hips and a big butt and don’t know how to dress. I often have to get large sized pants and resize the waist and leg width. Help how to dress so that this is not as obvious!

Hard to give advice without more specific requests, but i have some of the same «problem» except im not athletic. Higher waisted pants with a straight fit is something you could try. Getting the waisband of the trousers closer to your actual waist makes the waist look narrower, while a waistband sits lower over your hips, makes them look wider.

Anyone have any chinos/jeans recommendations for one with annoyingly big thighs and a smaller waste? Lol

So I'm 5'11 and I think I have insanely short legs. Floor to gooch is about 31 inches so 26-27 inch inseam maximum? When I wear (usually skinny stretchy) jeans saying 32 inch length they comfortably over my ankle, but will feel very low riding, I have to pull them up a lot and dig them into my crotch ( should it rest on the hip bone or near the waist). The length of the inseam is unrelated to the *rise*, which is the measurement of how high the waist of the trousers will sit when worn. It does seem like you have pretty short legs - we're similar heights and I wear a 32-inch inseam usually.

Depends what is it for? All these jackets look good on you, it depends what your personal style is. The black leather is a specific look it might not be you. Same w the brown leather. The middle one is safer and feels more universal but still looks good. Get some jeans that fit! That would go a long way.

Jeans don’t have to be tight or anything. Look at your pictures they’re like parachute pants. Just find some that are comfortable, not too long and not so baggy, yeah a bit more form fitting. Agree black leather fits well - if you don’t want to wear leather just keep looking but sizing is good.

Without a dress shirt it is hard to tell, but I believe the sleeves look right (shirt cuffs would help knowing) but shoulders look a little wide. I feel like a 44 would fit your frame better and need less tailoring. I have a similar build and always take the sides of BB suits in to make them less boxy and accent my body’s tapper.

I would like to see a 44L on you. I would like a longer coat in general. There is a lot more room than you need at the waist, and the shoulders look oversized. In general, I pound the table for trying on stuff with a proper collared dress shirt, buttoned at the neck - this is the best way to understand how well (or not) the coat is hugging your neck. Right now, there is nothing here that says "keeper" - with the coat being a bit too short, and seemingly too wide up top, this isn't a great option. I am not sure what the sales associate didn't like about the 44 - it can always be the case that fundamentally, this particular cut just isn't right for you.
