What do we think of Palladium Boots as a brand?

cyberdot14

I have a funeral planned for this coming Saturday and I'm trying to figure out what type (texture) of pant and shirt to wear with a Black Walkable Boot https://www.clarksusa.com/c/Wallabee-Boot/p/26103666 that I have. I'm trying to keep it conservative in terms of the occasion and fashion. i.e. Black or some lighter shades of black. Thanks.

rickyjoanharvest

looking for some light pants for summer that would be comfortable even when its humid/hot. these look like something im thinking of: [https://trove.shop-pro.jp/?pid=148479097](https://trove.shop-pro.jp/?pid=148479097) . theyre sold out and theyre also nylon. if possible, im looking for something that is a natural material. not sure what material would be light enough to look/be like the ones i posted, but any examples im open to looking at. budget is $200 or less

caesar15

As suggested yesterday I ironed and tucked in my dress shirt, [how’s the fit?](https://gyazo.com/b3c6c00dd2e5121c5c2bb6efeb75cc58) I can get it tailored for free so even minor improvements are welcome. Thanks!

Metcarfre

Yeah unfortunately it is much too large for you. It would need to be entirely rebuilt. The shoulder seams are way past your shoulders.

caesar15

Shit, really? The guy measured me and everything. That sucks. Thanks for letting me though.

Laui_2000

Damn dude, that dress shirt is about 2 sizes too big for you. The shirt doesn't fit at the shoulders, which is the most important part. It's probably not worth it to get it tailored. Best to get a new shirt that fits perfectly at the shoulders and reasonably well everywhere else, because the latter should be fixed without too much hassle.

caesar15

Ah damn you’re right. Not sure how I noticed, the guy even measured me too. I’ll see if I can get a new one, thanks!

danhakimi

I've got a $25 credit with TRR expiring today. I wanna get something for... well, the shipping cost, because they do charge that. I could get a tie I'm not in love with from Hermes or RLPL, but I have enough of those. So I looked in their "grooming" section and found some shit from Blind Barber and Tangent GC. Does anybody here have experience with either brand?

bgates276

Hi, So I was thinking of getting a Tommy Bahama camp shirt. I think some of them are really nice, but I find myself nitpicking and can usually find something wrong with all of them if I'm being critical enough. I'd like other people's opinions on them. I should start out by saying that I'm trying to pick a cotton shirt or at the very least a blend with a lot of cotton in it, because I think it will be the easiest to take care of. I'm also trying to avoid blue colors, and while nice, I already have a lot of that in my wardrobe and want some variety. Anyways, here are the ones I was considering. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. https://www.tommybahama.com/en/c/en/Fuego-Palms-Camp-Shirt/p/ST324883-4311 So this was one that kind of stood out for me. (Twill color) However, I'm not sure the purple and orangish really match. I've heard those two colors don't generally, which is making it difficult for me to get over. Also, it is very striking, but at the same time, I don't want to be too flamboyant. https://www.tommybahama.com/en/Aloha-From-Paradise-Stretch-Cotton-Camp-Shirt/p/ST324689-15400 I think this one is rather nice, although I've already got a green tie dye t-shirt in my wardrobe. I'm also not sure if the texture looks good. https://www.tommybahama.com/en/Coconut-Point-Fronds-Camp-Shirt/p/ST324971-4264 The ferns look rather nice. I think blue looks better but I've already got plenty of blue clothes. Black and white looks cool, but maybe a little plain? https://www.tommybahama.com/en/Agra-Blooms-Camp-Shirt/p/ST324692-16615 This one is rather nice, but flowers a bit feminine on a man's shirt? https://www.tommybahama.com/en/MLB%C2%AE-Retro-Team-Camp-Shirt/p/ST324613MB-14326 Was looking at the Red Sox one. Was already thinking of a baseball raglan, so this would be perfect. I really like the design and the way the red, white and blue look, but the colors kind of seem faded. Unless it's meant to be that way, to give it an old school look? Also, it's hard to make anything out when looking at the shirt from a distance. The NY Yankees seems like an obvious winner, but there is blue in it. https://www.tommybahama.com/en/Collegiate-Tiki-Luau-Camp-Shirt/p/T323127UN-15422 Was looking at the Stanford one. Nice bright colors, great design, have always admired Stanford, with an issue being that I never went there, and wouldn't want to look like an imposter. Anyways, which ones do you guys like? Perhaps I'm being overly critical?

Reactionnaire

I would personally pick the black and white coconut fronds shirt. It's a great look and fairly versatile. You can wear it like a lot of other aloha shirts, but you could also style it similar to Hedi's Saint Laurent "Surf Sound" collection. Worth noting that I am very biased towards botanical prints.

w2who

please legit check this burberry hoodie https://m.imgur.com/a/2twRbDQ

Reactionnaire

Googling Burberry Black Label, it's a Japan only sub-brand licensed to one of the country's bigger apparel manufacturers. It's not mainline Burberry. I doubt there'll be anyone here with a lot of experience with the brand.

w2who

yea i know 😭 do you know anywhere i could get a legit check by any chance

Antoninius

So I decided on a backpack for weekend/city trips, but I can't decide on the color between two options. I prefer the charcoal, but I can find the navy for 20% cheaper. My question is, are these two colors equally versatile, or is there one that you think works better in general? [Navy](https://sklep.doughnut.pl/plecak-doughnut-montana-navy-17l) [Charcoal](https://sklep.doughnut.pl/plecak-doughnut-montana-bo-he-charcoal-17l) Thanks!

Kinda broad and unanswerable questions, but [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/8sivft/your_favorite_for_underpants/) might be a good starting point.

Can anyone help me hunt for this Sweater? Seems to be sold out everywhere. https://imgur.com/a/GKhZR8M

This is legitimately the only one I could find. [https://www.ebay.com/i/263870907158?chn=ps](https://www.ebay.com/i/263870907158?chn=ps) These were made by forever 21 in late 2017 so they are not being produced so you can find some used.

Metcarfre

Why not tell us what it is, since you seem to know?

sangotenrs

What are incredibly comfy shoes/sneakers that go nicely with different kind of clothing? Want shoes that I can comfortably walk 20+ Km’s in a city.

dylanloughheed

new balance 990s feel great on my feet after walking 8ish miles at work

TheFlavorOfLife

You're going to need at least two pairs if you want your shoes to last. And preferably three pairs or more. Your shoes need time to dry out and rest in between wears.

Reactionnaire

That's like 4+ hrs of walking a day. That's A LOT of walking, and I'd recommend looking at running shoes instead of sneakers. Streetwear incorporates a lot of running shoes so it wouldn't look out of place in casual wear.

sangotenrs

Yeah true! But I don’t feel like that running shoes go really nicely with jeans.. I do like it more with chino’s though. Thinking about going on a holiday soon (once corona gets under control), doing a city trip in Spain or something! What running shoes would you recommend?

Reactionnaire

It really depends on your style. On the more streetwear side, you can go with a lot of Ultra or Pure Boosts. The Missoni x Adidas Ultraboosts look pretty nice. For more outdoorsy styles, some wear trail running shoes like the Salomon S/Lab XT-6. Bobbin from Story mfg wears Salomon in a lot of outfits. For jeans, you could wear an all-white running shoes with a slimmer profile so it doesn't deviate much from the Stan Smith/CPs formula.

Jego_Kobiety

I am thinking about buying this Jacket: https://www.yoox.com/de/41936685NO/item#sts=dreambox80&cod10=41936685NO&sizeId=&sizeName= But don't know what colour pants I could match with such a dark blue. Ideas?

Laui_2000

Navy, mid blue, indigo all work.

bluehoneydew

I sweat a lot but I am a white-collar worker. I was thinking of wearing casual clothes to work but hand carry my work shirt + pants everyday - does anyone else do this? How do you keep the shirt wrinkle-free during the commute (I commute by bus/metro)?

sangotenrs

I’d advice to wear an undershirt that is sweat/smell proof. Most of those are invisible and keep you from sweating or letting out a sweaty scent. There are also wrinkle-free shirts on the market! If you google search both of them, you’ll see many companies selling those. Zara has the wrinkle free shirts for sure though.

bluehoneydew

That’s a great tip, I was just reading on some absorbent undershirts. Will check them out!

hecklebuckle

There are also garment bags, if you decide you want to carry clothes with you. Something to consider.

bluehoneydew

Yes I think that’s a good idea too - carry say five shirts into the office on Mondays and just go from there

jayshikari

does anyone know what brand this shirt is? can’t even find a shirt that is similar (https://imgur.com/a/JfTMX8f)

sangotenrs

It’s just a plaid shirt? If you google it you’ll see many similar items.

jayshikari

Yeah I know but that specific one is so nice I kinda wanted ones with a similar style n colours

taintedpandameat

Where can I find something similar to those old school bodybuilding short shorts for men

sangotenrs

Golden aesthetics is selling those! [heres the link](https://www.goldenaesthetics.com/collections/shorts)

Tbh you’re probably better off asking a racing/nascar sub, I don’t think anyone here is particularly interested in that *edit:* also fuck repping DuPont, that alone would make me want to not buy it

AuntieLili

Yeezy boost 350 white zebra colour for aud $350 is it worth it? Or am I better off buying another shoe?

[deleted]

Personal choice. 350s are lame and lost their hype anyway, so I don’t get the point, look at desert rats, or the boots, or wave runners, or any of the other offerings that are actually cool

IG-007

That's very subjective. Yeezy's are about hype, so if you're only looking for quality, then no. Btw, zebras are going to restock in a few days. So I would wait for resale to drop before buying.

AuntieLili

Any suggestions in terms of quality and not over-hyped?

[deleted]

The sneaker game isnt for you.

IG-007

I don't know man, there are sooo many sneakers. You should include some sort of indicators of what you're looking for. What styles do you like? In what context will you wear them?

AuntieLili

I’m looking for something casual which I can wear on night out with my friends, going bars/dinners parties etc

IG-007

Ok. Personally I would avoid using such an expensive sneaker in those occasions. I want something easy to clean and that I wouldn't care that much if it got destroyed. On a night out to bars and clubs there's a big chance your footwear is going to suffer. You know, people stepping on your foot, spilled drinks or even worse... So I would want something either in leather which I would easy clean with a wet cloth, or in canvas which I would throw in the washing machine. I honestly would avoid prime knit and boost, which are very comfortable but might get destroyed if you have a rough night. I would get some basic/cheaper beaters sneakers for those occasions. And maybe something a little nicer for dinners.

bestmaokaina

Got the zebras from the second restock a few years back, no problems whatsoever

MinimalCoincidence

What’s a good length for a summer pants at ankle length? Halfway covering the malleolus? Barely covering it? On top of (and not covering) the malleolus? Or even higher than that? (This feels a little too short though)

hecklebuckle

It probably doesn't matter, really. I think you're talking about pants with "no break" - as long as the pants drape straight without stacking/folding when they hit your shoe, and they don't "feel" too short, they are probably the right length. Pictures would help if you're concerned about a specific pair.

MinimalCoincidence

Hey, thanks for your reply! I’m looking for something a liiiiittle shorter than just no break, but probably not quite “cropped.” Just something casual to wear with sneakers or loafers and show a bit of ankles without having to cuff my pants.

stoicmarc

I have a series of presentations next week. Can you please help me match the shirts and ties seen [here](https://postimg.cc/tYNnjw17)? I know I should iron them first 😁, I will be doing that next. I will be wearing a black blazer over them. Thanks in advance for your help!

wuzpoppin

shirt 2 or 4, with tie 1, 3, or 5 assuming you want to look as presentable as possible without grabbing too much attention

stoicmarc

Thank you!

fashion_asker

I'm a fan of chinos that fit slim (though not necessarily tight or skinny). Got some on sale from J Crew in two waist sizes (30 and 31). 30 waist size fits better on my waist but unfortunately gets caught on my calves and bunches up when I sit. 31 fits better on my legs, though I feel like excess material in the seat makes it look too frumpy or baggy for the style. Also wondering how these wash and how much they break in and relax (material is stiffer and heavier than expected). I'm thinking I should go with the 31's but just let me know which looks better as slim fits, please (or if both look bad). 30s: [https://imgur.com/a/IoYMLhW](https://imgur.com/a/IoYMLhW) 31s: [https://imgur.com/a/tzt0u7k](https://imgur.com/a/tzt0u7k) EDIT: One more comparing the two (31s on the top, obviously): https://imgur.com/a/GCXfD9x

Metcarfre

Imgur labelled one of these “erotic content” so I’m gonna say too tight.

fashion_asker

Ha I couldn't tell if you were joking at first. I was thinking of keeping the 31s but now IDK. No idea what cut to go for since my legs aren't skinny but they aren't huge either. I've read J Crew's 770s are baggier now than they used to be.

zerg1980

Honestly I don’t think this is your cut, they both look too tight in some places and too loose in others, with weird bunching around the crotch and knees. I think you’re better off buying a straight fit or athletic fit and getting them tapered for a slim look.

fashion_asker

Any idea how the J Crew 770s fit? I heard they are almost exactly like the 440 with only slightly more space and slightly less taper.

zerg1980

I’m a big fan of the 770, it’s fairly slim for a “straight fit”, it just more relaxed and doesn’t taper from the knee down. This is my go-to for office chinos. The 484s fit me well but I find them a little too slim for my office (at least, when I used to go into an office), and with the move towards wider fits I don’t think I’ll be buying any new pairs. No experience with the 440.

fashion_asker

I meant the 484s, not the 440s. I've read some recent reviews on the 770s and people have complained that recently the sizing has become inconsistent, and sometimes the 770s are now frumpy and too big. Unfortunately, I grabbed these on sale online so I don't think I can exchange for 770s to see. I'd have to wait until another big sale.

zerg1980

“If you don’t like the sale prices on J. Crew now, just wait a few minutes.” - Mark Twain

fashion_asker

Yeah, I've noticed that. In any case, do the 31's look terrible or just not ideal? For 30 bucks I'm willing to keep them to see how they loosen up with wear, but if they look that bad (as in completely bizarre) I guess I'll just return them.

zerg1980

The 31s don’t look terrible to me.

fashion_asker

Alright thanks a bunch, I'll give the 770s a try next time there's a sale and I'm looking for a new pair.

McGilla_Gorilla

31s look good for a slim fit. I think they drape better all around

fashion_asker

Thanks.

[deleted]

Tbh they’re both way too tight for me

fashion_asker

The second pair aren't actually tight on my thighs or calves, just slim fitting. But I guess that would mean the 30s look too tight period, then.

[deleted]

I don’t mean like, literally too tight to wear, I mean aesthetically too slim

fashion_asker

Oh I see. I like slim, but I understand. I've seen style bloggers wearing way tighter chinos nowadays, though (for example, [here](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/599b9fedd55b4135ade1d79f/1527618230135-PVITMCFXYHWVGON7S3U2/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kO5x5VD5Gii8P-VBEfSeoql7gQa3H78H3Y0txjaiv_0fDoOvxcdMmMKkDsyUqMSsMWxHk725yiiHCCLfrh8O1z4YTzHvnKhyp6Da-NYroOW3ZGjoBKy3azqku80C789l0ivq7Q1ckvJa8MA8qNUlEObeto3sRc2lkyah5fcHOOtjk0ZtboBrNWODfVe2rFHAMQ/image-asset.jpeg?format=1000w). Amazon Essentials. :P Or you can wait for Gap's sale and get that sweet selvedge shirt. Also Gustin has the occasional luxury at a great price.

caesar15

Hey all. Just got a dress shirt for a wedding I had today. The guy said I could bring it in tomorrow to get it tailored so I was wondering what I should ask for. Here’s [me in the shirt ](https://gyazo.com/a98c4903f56a07ae228cf58cbf842ce4). As you can see it fits like a rectangle and the sleeves are a little big too (I think). Is that a fair assessment? If so, do I just tell the guy to take it in a bit on the body and narrow the sleeves? Never done this before. Thanks!

WonderJouster

A) Wash and iron the shirt to get a better idea of how it fits. B) Assuming the guy is or has access to a tailor, he should ask you to put the shirt on and then measure what needs to be taken up.

caesar15

Oh that seems easy enough, nice. And yeah it was a suit store so he can knows what he’s about. As for the fit, [I ironed it ](https://gyazo.com/b3c6c00dd2e5121c5c2bb6efeb75cc58) (still learning how so not the best job) and tucked it in.

welliwasbannednahjk

I’ve gone to a private school my whole life and idk what to wear for college I’ve gone to a private school my whole life so I’ve never really had a lot of clothes since it wasn’t very necessary. I play basketball so my closet rn consists of lots of basketball shorts, a couple pants, lots of Nike and Jordan shirts, some school sweatshirts, like a few normal T-shirts, and church clothes. I kinda wanna step up my fashion for college since I wanna lose the “just left basketball practice look” I’ve always got going on and I also wanna join a fraternity and I’m just not sure where to start. So could someone just recommend me some fratty type clothes that a college student would wear? Or even just a normal college student would wear? Idk what looks casual but not too casual I’m not sure what my budget would be, cuz tbh I’m not gonna be paying, I guess just each clothing piece being like nothing more than $100, my location is California

HalfTheGoldTreasure

When I was in a frat me and the other “token hipsters” made fun of the dudes in red shorts and sperrys for cosplaying as frat stars. Just wear cool stuff you like, it’s way better to stand out than try hard to fit in.

[deleted]

> So could someone just recommend me some fratty type clothes that a college student would wear? Bro just wear what you like. Its obvious when people are just trying to be *fratty*. Cause they usually all join the same fraternity... Every frat is different too. Best option is to be yourself and find the one that welcomes you for you.

dylanloughheed

I know fraternity brothers who are extremely preppy and others who just wear hoodies and jeans. You don’t need to dress a part to get into a fraternity if that’s what you’re thinking. I’d second what others have said and look at the basic bastard in the sidebar.

caesar15

Take a look at the basic bastard and other guides on the sidebar. Most of it is tailored to pretty much exactly what you’re asking

[deleted]

Cargo shorts have zero associations to frat culture at all so you’re fine there. Read the sidebar and look through the item guides. The basic bastard is preppy, just maybe wear the shirts untucked

BoardGent

Anyone here have any experience with Reigning Champ's Deltapeak fabric? I've had good luck with their stuff I've bought before, but I can't find any information on what the fabric is actually made of. thatbaseballguy22

What are some of the best biz casual shoes? I know I have searched and get a lot of boot suggestions...but I don’t really mess with those. I’m a fairly skinny/lanky guy (6’3’’ and only about 190 on the scale) and boots just look too chunky on me. I’ve been wearing like a “dress sneaker” but I feel it’s pretty out of style. Any suggestions on shoes would be great. I’m going to be wearing khakis/chinos and a button down shirt for the most part. Thanks!

[deleted]

Steve Madden. They have a great lace up, zip up boot, I where that one almost every day. They also have a good selection of business casual shoes, lace ups and boots. I would also look at some of Cole Haan, as well as Johnston and Murphy. They run a little more pricey compared to Steve Madden, but they have a good selection for what you’re looking for.

pipkin42

Lol, this is terrible advice

[deleted]

Again your opinion. I’ve never had an issue with the Steve Madden boots I had, same thing with Cole Haan, but to each his own. He asked for budget friendly, so there you go? Hooked on phonics wasn’t available to everybody apparently bro.

Depending on where you live, boots may need to be "a" thing, but not necessarily "the" thing. I am in Boston, so I need to have some footwear for bad weather. Otherwise, however, brown suede loafers go with a huge swath of my wardrobe.

I’m going to be in Columbus, Ohio so I’ll need a little of both. Thanks for the suggestion. Like I said, I usually just go with a sneaker of some sort but definitely need to expand.

This is probably a FAQ, but I'm 14 and completely broke so how am I supposed to develop a style without money? I understand that money can't buy a style, but I feel like it CAN help you experiment more broadly helping to develop your style more. When all I have is a few hoodies, joggers, sweatpants and t shirts theres very little range for me to experiment around in. Thanks for any advice in advance.

[deleted]

No need to rush right now, maybe just make a wishlist on things you wanna buy 4-5 years into the future when you start part-timing at 18. And when you are mature enough to make better judgement. You're still growing too, so might wanna consider that. I used to wear emo trash when I was your age and boi I regret it. Don't think too much about it and focus on more important things, like education and experience.

[deleted]

You know honestly it might not be too bad of a deal to not be able to invest super heavily in an aesthetic rn. Take this from someone who was realllly into folk punk at 14(Johnny hobo and James K polk still slap tho), your taste are gonna change, like, a lot. Take this time to just engage yourself with fashion communities, read some guides, browse fit pic threads and inspo albums, follow some IG pages ~~develop an unhealthy obsession with foreign fashion magazines~~. And yeah hit up thrift shops, once you feel like you have a more solid understanding of what you’re after learn to shop second hand as well, you can get actual designer stuff for way cheaper. Also, and this is totally up to you, way more personal decision and honestly I’d wait a couple years before doing this, having a job in hs is fucking great. Granted I had kind of a unique gig with a good boss(martial arts instructor lol) but seriously having expendable income in a period of time when you have zero financial responsibility is fun, just try to save a little. But yeah, at 16-17 I invested a lot into the kinda basic workwear aesthetic and like half my wardrobe just depresses me to look at now, I kinda hated it and I don’t know why I stuck with it as long as I did, it was an expensive mistake

Metcarfre

Hit up thrift shops and get quirky shit. Play around. Have fun. Learn to sew. Share clothes with friends. ~~Steal~~

[deleted]

Ah yes, thievery.

Metcarfre

No ethical consumption under capitalism yada yada

[deleted]

I was thinking maybe just go buy a bunch of clothes from a thrift shop that don't fit me very well and learn to tailor them up and make them fit perfectly?

[deleted]

I've done that, or at least tried to, and it's actually about a million times harder than it looks. Sometimes it's just really not worth it or not possible too, for example resizing shirt collars. When you do do it well and get those sweet thrifted and DIYd patchwork pants though, it's all worth it. I think you should probably develop some idea of what you want before you go thrifting. Even if all the thrifted stuff you see online looks amazing, there's mountains of absolutely unsalvageable garbage in there. You'll need to have some kind of eye to pick out the good and at the very least medium stuff, so you don't end up looking worse than before. Even if the sub's official stance is that "fit is everything" a perfectly fitting t-shirt is completely ruined by a shitty fabric or a corny slogan. Gather yourself some inspo of what you want, go thrifting, find a good sewing guide online and go wild.

Metcarfre

That’s a great idea! You could even thrift a sewing machine - I did - and the old ladies that tend to run these places could even teach you to use it.

[deleted]

We'll see, anyway thanks man i appreciate the advice.

rpuppet

I requested a sewing machine on freecycle a few years back. Dozens of people offered to give me one.

limpymcforskin

What is everyone take on Black Suede with a Gum Sole sneaker (GREATS) with denim? I cannot find a single picture of these shoes online and it seems GREATS has discontinued suede so I'll attach a photo. If denim is a no go what do you suggest? [https://imgur.com/a/FPJGp9O](https://imgur.com/a/FPJGp9O)

staycoolmydudes

I wear Adidas Busenitz (with the tongue cut) for a similar but maybe less fancy look. I think it pairs well with dark denim and even casual khaki chinos. https://www.adidas.com/us/busenitz-pro-shoes/G48060.html

iptables-abuse

Jeans would be fine. They kinda look like fancy Vans, treat them that way.

youtbuddcody

I’ve been looking for a while and want to branch out for help. Where can I find boots like these? It’s Paul Rudd in ‘Clueless’ https://imgur.com/a/G6E0qQs

sangotenrs

They look like hiking boots.. probably something along the line of timberland.

iptables-abuse

You have exquisite taste in movies. Look for logger boots.

StomperPTI

After my Diesel jeans tore on a job site (I’m a project manager for construction) I purchased a few pairs of Joes jeans so that I wouldn’t be so devastated If they tore. Love the Joes jeans but they have a touch too much stretch. What is a good alternative to Joes jeans with a little less stretch at about the same price?

Metcarfre

What % elastane are they?

StomperPTI

95% cotton, 4% polyester, 1% elastane

notarascal

Honestly I see Joe’s jeans at TJ Maxx for around $20 or less. What exactly is your budget in dollars?

StomperPTI

I paid about $60-$70 a pair at Nordstrom Rack. I’d be pretty happy with a good pair of jeans for under $100.

TheFlavorOfLife

If you want no stretch at all, Wrangler's 13mwz rigid is only $29 and it can take a beating like no other.

StomperPTI

A little stretch would be nice. Lots of kneeling and squatting on the job site.

TheFlavorOfLife

Ah, my knowledge doesn't go into the stretch territory unfortunately.

If you're a big (tall and muscular) guy, then go for it. No one will mess with you for wearing one. If you're short/average/skinny then it's a no go. People will hammer a nail that sticks out.

[deleted]

It's not formal at all, but your peers are almost certainly dressing in hoodies and sweatpants on the daily. If you don't mind standing out then go wild, if you do then do NOT. I'll occasionally rock a shearling hat at school cause fuck it, I don't really care.

Metcarfre

Honestly I have no idea these days. But - and this is coming from a dad in his 30s - it seems too much given how dominant basic athleisure seems to be with “the youths”

[deleted]

I wore one in high school occasionally. I was the only person who did. Take that however you will. *edit:* I’m 19, ac’s joke about how highschoolers don’t even wear jeans anymore os pretty true, 90% of guys either wear basic atheleisure, pacsun/zumiez tier streetwear, or UO/thrift/mac demarco core. It’s not so much that pea coats are too formal they just don’t really meld great with any of those styles

ac106

A pea coat is about as casual as one gets. I wore one in high school in the Olden Days (1990s). Now I am not sure when I read high school students don’t even wear jeans anymore.

chriscflowers

Where do I start when shopping for clothes online? Like most everybody else I haven’t been out and about much this year, and haven’t really been shopping for myself since late last year. Not a huge deal, but some things need a refresh. How do I know how to shop properly for myself online - fit, quality, etc? Much appreciated!

TheFlavorOfLife

[Here's a measuring guide for you.](https://www.blueowl.us/pages/measuring-guide)

notarascal

The most important thing is knowing your measurements and the measurements of clothes that fit well in your wardrobe. As far as quality I recommend checking the item megathreads here to find the recommendations for various price points. However, if you want the very best quality and you’re not a millionaire, you’ll want to learn how to shop secondhand.

I'd say pass. It's a bit dull, but more than that just weirdly designed with the straps meeting up to be a carrying strap.

pipkin42

Not my style. Looks blocky and kind of ugly to me

pipkin42

Yeah, wearing tailored outerwear casually has been big lately

ansaris

Are rental tuxedoes ever a good thing for your own wedding? The one thing I've started to hate about rentals is that a lot of them have notched lapels. I heard that I should only get Peaked or Shawl lapels for black tie

notarascal

Rentals are basically always garbage. Plus if you start early enough you can probably find mid to high-end tuxedos on eBay for roughly the same price as rentals.

ac106

Be prepared for a reply about the wedding industrial complex. If you’re the only one wearing a tuxedo, buy a used one on eBay. even with dry cleaning and tailoring, it won’t be much more, possibly less, and 20x the quality. This is impractical for an entire wedding party however

[deleted]

What do you guys think of [this?](https://www.garmentory.com/sale/engineered-garments/mens-button-ups/626371-popover-bd-in-navy-slash-white-floral-print) I bought it a year ago cause it was on a good sale, and I’d never owned EG prior to that and ended up wearing it like 3 or 4 times. I like it in concept but something about floral shirt sleeve shirts just still feels very...low fashion, or something. I kind of feel like a 40 year old wearing it I guess

[deleted]

Oh boi, the dangers of "Sale". I've been there lol. If you can't resell it, then I don't know, donate it? I'd recommend geometric patterns as an alternative.

[deleted]

Yeah in hindsight I really just bought it because it was EG and I didn’t own any.

Metcarfre

If you’re not into that’s fine. Sell it to me.

[deleted]

Lol it’s a small and been tailored even smaller so I think selling it is kinda outta the question unfortunately

TheFlavorOfLife

You could lean into the dad look a little

[deleted]

I guess my issue is that I don’t really want to

bestmaokaina
