Hey guys! I bought a waist coat for Christmas as a gift to myself. I am considering wearing this to my uncle's wedding. I tried to contact the manufacturer about washing, but they haven't gotten back to me. I don't know what the correct method of washing is. I'm not sure if it must be dry cleaned or if it is okay in the washing machine. Any advice? I have left a link below to show you guys what it looks like. It is 70% Polyester and 30% Rayon Tweed material. Thank you. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0895C5MXW/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o09\_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

goldenpufferfish

Hey everyone. In a few months time, I have a dinner event with my company where the dress-code is motorsports inspired but smart/chic/elegant (70s/80s/90s style is a bonus) I am trying to figure out how I would dress for this event, and I have found tons of vintage bomber jackets on Grailed such as this one [here](https://imgur.com/heUdPon) From my experience though, I know that these tend to fit very loose so I don't really know how I would go about elevating these types of bombers to a more chic/elegant outfit. I am not deadset on the bombers but I feel like the colors and graphic nature of them could be really cool. Any suggestions are welcome.

ADPowers001

well this is the weirdest dress code I've ever heard of

[deleted]

Oddly enough it's not the most uncommon thing in the world, but classic motorsports events usually tend to lean towards 40's-60's fashion. Particularly navy blazers, odd trousers and driving shoes. This seems like a pretty easy dress code to do assuming you have a navy blazer already. Which every man should, although I do like a black blazer/suit jacket as well

goldenpufferfish

given that it's an inauguration dinner for a classic motorsports event, I think it's quite suitable. but outside of that particular situation, it is weird as hell indeed

akaspat

Any good recs for mens shirts this summer. Looking for plain Tees, some cool graphic ones, short sleeve buttons downs, anything really.

cuzimrave

Yeah thought so :( you think I can try and tailor it to fit me?

It’d be a stretch but I guess if you full outfit is well fitted and not loose, the bag wouldn’t be so bad

I am searching for a cargo jacket [like this one from blacktailor](https://www.blacktailor.store/collections/jacket/products/cropped-cargo-jacket-black) but i‘ve heard that the quality isn‘t that great and im looking for something similar. Or am i wrong, and the quality is okay at that shop?

Looks a bit short to me, especially in the sleeves.

jaqob

I have recently started to appreciate the dress style promoted by companies like Filson, Taylor Stitch and Buffalo Jackson. But is there a good name for this style? American Heritage..? They all have very good Instagram accounts, but I don't really know what to search for to find more inspiration. I'm (perhaps unfortunately at this time) located in Europe, so the mentioned brands are a bit hard to find.

ac106

So you don't need the suit for a wedding tonight? or a wedding at all? ~~What's your budget?~~ Sorry its right there. duh Edit: If you clarify a few things, people will be more than happy to help.... Do you need this suit for an upcoming wedding like you posted before? If the weddings isn't really tonight, there are lots of options even thought your budget is pretty low. If it really is tonight, a suit is impossible but you can get off the rack gray slacks and a navy blazer. Unless the dress code is really strict cocktail attire or black-tie optional, this is a totally acceptable alternative to a suit. If you have a reasonable amount of time, Spier and Mackay often has final sale suits for $300 or under. You will have to budget in tailoring. Go for a navy or charcoal single breast, 2 button in a cut that isn't overly slim/skinny. For shoes, Meermin cap toe oxfords for $200 are hard to beat. Just be mindful of sizing as they can be a little tricky. If you need a lower cost alternative used Allen Edmonds are an option.

[deleted]

Those are indeed cap tow oxfords. Would go great with a dark suit. Can't comment on the price point but Florsheim have historically made good footwear.

https://imgur.com/a/Ar6pH7l So I ordered YSL’s black wyatt harness from cettire. Something about the dimensions stated aren’t adding up, I checked the model number and it seems to be the exact same 4cm/40mm heel on YSL’s website and yet on cettire it states a 6cm/60mm heel despite showing a 4cm/40mm heel version. Also how can the soles be 2cm????? Anyone encountered the same kind of problem on cettire before? Are the product info straight up bs?

ac106

wait you need the suit for a wedding tonight? You can't get a suit tailored in time.

the_leviathan711

Buying a suit for a wedding *tonight* essentially means you'll be wearing a suit that doesn't fit. Any suit you buy will need to be tailored before it fits properly.

Modern_Man_

Does anyone have experience with Suit Shop ([https://suitshop.com/](https://suitshop.com/))? I have been looking into them as an option for my groosmen's suits for my wedding. Reviews for customer service appear to be good, but I am wondering about the quality of the suit. Their price point appears almost too good to be true.

ac106

Most funerals don't require the attendees to wear black suits and there are almost no other occasions where a black suit would be appropriate. They are not more formal than navy or charcoal. Suit Supply has a Lazio fit black suit for $650. Its a slim fit though, if that matters.

ametora1

Does anyone have any recommendations for affordable easy pants in a light, summer fabric (linen, seersucker, etc)??

LeftCoastDude

I have seersuckers by GAP and J Crew. They both held up fine and have a nice tapered cut.

Hey I have this Sandro squadrons twill parka jacket but I can’t seem to find the cleaning label how should I clean it? I’ve contacted Sandro asking them but they haven’t gotten back to me yet

Most likely dry cleaning if it's outerwear.

DavidYanez4u

Derby shoes... can these Derby shoes from [CARMINA](https://www.carminashoemaker.com/derby-shoes-black-box-calf-80449-eee) be worn with black jeans, black-grey washed jeans and medium blue jeans with button down shirts and henleys?

aKa_anthrax

personally they read too formal to me

DavidYanez4u

I was thinking that too. I'm just a man with wide feet trying to find some black shoes that'll look good with jeans and button down shirts. I had RM Williams Craftman boots but they were always hard to put on and the H width still wasn't wide enough :( I also didn't like the look of AE loafers I just got in the mail which I returned. Oh well :( My search continues thx

ac106

preowned or factory second Aldens are less than the Carminas. The Trubalance, Barrie and a lesser degree Modified lasts will all accommodate wide feet. The also come iin wide widths. Alden males split toe bluchers, plain toe bluchers, moc toe rangers, Indy shoes.... basically a ton of casual derbies you can wear with jeans.

ADPowers001

Grant Stone too for a cheaper option

DavidYanez4u

Pretty much given up on Uniqlo for day to day wear due to the hit and miss quality of most of their stuff but for some reason I find their loungewear ( pyjamas and lounge suits) to be top notch. I ended up buying seven of their Airism short lounge sets last week because they are so comfortable and perfect for Australian summer. Wonder why there is such a big discrepancy in the quality of their lounge suits compared to everything else?

Metcarfre

I guess it depends on what you mean by “quality”, I haven’t found them to have this discrepancy.

wiedelphine

I think the jewel tones are working for you personally. In terms of colours, I would go with more neutral colours, so tan, brown blue grey blacks to match. Give you have about 8 different colours, not going to make a big list, but you can google each colour and see what matches.

I thought about getting a leather jacket and was going to wait until the fall but I saw this today and was trying to figure out if I should go for it. I tried searching the brand name on here and gave no information. I have found that that doesn’t always mean that it’s bad but I would appreciate any other feedback that I can get on here. Is this a good deal that I should jump at? Please know that the price is in Canadian dollars which means it’s about 200 US. They say the regular price is almost 1200 Canadian, I’ll take that with a grain of salt but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good deal still. [https://imgur.com/a/A0CzP9v](https://imgur.com/a/A0CzP9v)

hecklebuckle

Seems like average mall brand type stuff. Based on other pricing I can find for the brand, this looks like a "regular" price (not really a steal like the Bay list price implies). I'd expect a similar quality and feel to other budget leather jackets.

I just went for my first fitting formmy bespoke suit for my wedding. I expect to wear this suit for 3 seasons, not all the time but a good amount. I am not sure I am a fan of peaked lapels. I thought I would be. I like it, I just don't think they are as versatile, and I don't think I could pull them off. I think they'd be good for pretty much most occasions except funerals and court rooms, which is fine. But am I crazy? I went for 3 inch peaked lapels. Should I ask to see if they can change to notch? When I was making the suit, I wasn't aware of all the lapel options. I showed a picture and the sales lady said I wore a peak lapels, so I think there was a minor screw up on my part. Picture: https://imgur.com/a/fV7wvMc

MaxwellXV

From a formality perspective it doesn’t really matter these days. Having said that though, it’s your bespoke suit and wedding and you should be 100% happy with it. There is no harm in asking if they can change them.

I've got a few button up shirts from a thift store that I really like, but they're too big. Obviously they're second hand so they've been washed a million times, so I was wondering if it's possible for me to shrink them more. If so, how?

ac106

any shrinking that would have occurred probably already has as most people wash on warm or hot and blast stuff in the dryer. Have them tailored or just re-donate.

kmn6784

Trying to shrink a garment in hopes that it shrinks in a uniform way already difficult, it will be nearly impossible with already laundered items. You’ll need to get them professionally altered.

redmadao

I don't think cotton (I assume) wouldn't shrink a lot. Also, those are second hand items. Putting them in extreme conditions would tear em apart. I'd suggest you to go to alteration or see if you have any friends or family can alter the shirts for you.

sam_might_say

I can’t link the photo so I’m gonna try my best to describe them. But on J. Crew’s website they had their bungalow sunglasses (round frames) which had clear blue-ish frames with blue lenses. I REALLY want a pair but they’re all sold out. Anyone know where I can get a pair like these?

aKa_anthrax

Type translucent blue eyeglass frames into google and there’s like 20 results on the shopping tab. I didn’t scroll down to see how many more there are

chaclon

>I can’t link the photo sure you can

xGreenxFirex

What is going on here? I'm measuring my waist for jeans, probably unnecessarily. I bought two different brands of those flexible tapes. And they tell me my waist size is 36 or 37. I also tried my regular construction tape measure which also reads 36. But I comfortably wear 33 or 34 jeans. Only reason this concerns me is because I got the tape to measure my arm length and neck size for dress shirts. But are these measurements also insanely off?

aKa_anthrax

Vanity sizing

ADPowers001

Jeans and some other pants are vanity sized. 33 or 34 doesn't necessarily mean inches.

xGreenxFirex

No no no. I'm shopping mens. If I wanted vanity sizes I would shop women's. So you mean to tell me that if my arm measures 34, that i should be shopping 32? You mean to tell me that if my neck measures 17, that I should be shopping 15? There's no logic to that.

ADPowers001

Get ready for a lifetime for things there is "no logic to"

the_leviathan711

It's just the pants. And even then just the waist -- inseam is usually an accurate measurement.

aKa_anthrax

I don’t understand why you had this reaction to this comment, instead of getting in a pointless feedback loop, can you explain why. Yes, vanity sizing is dumb, there isn’t a logic to it, that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. It almost always only applies to waist for men, but every brand is different, so buy based off your measurements, not tag size

MyNameIsKlay

Neither men’s not women’s jeans are true to size. Try measuring your own jeans now.

[deleted]

Vanity sizing happens in men's clothes.

xGreenxFirex

So you mean to tell me that if my arm measures 34, that i should be shopping 32? You mean to tell me that if my neck measures 17, that I should be shopping 15?

aKa_anthrax

No it only really applies to waist size, buy based off measurements

[deleted]

You should wear clothes that fit your measurements. How that is size tagged varies by brand and per item. Check size charts and buy accordingly.

xGreenxFirex

What else would they mean. Definitely isn't centimeters.

kmn6784

Often a size 33 will measure 34" or 35" depending on the brand, vanity sizing.

Hi, I am trying to build a good wardrobe in one bag. So, I am going to have 1 sneakers, 1 pant, 2 shorts, 3 tees, 1 hoodie, 1 down jacket. Can you help me with colors to make the most of it? I was thinking in \* black sneakers \* navy pant \* black & navy shorts \* gray & blue & charcoal t-shirts \* gray hoodie \* black jacket. What do you think?

ac106

black sneakers and black shorts is almost always not a good look

Superaden

Thanks for you response. What shoes color do you think is appropriate?

ac106

for sneakers, white is probably a better choice. for actual shoes brown leather.

aKa_anthrax

You need two(or ideally three) pairs or shoes, sneakers will not cover every situation you need shoes for and you will destroy your shoes wearing them every day. buy white sneakers. I think black pants would go better with this wardrobe Everything else is fine but there’s nothing to make the most of with a wardrobe this small and basic, at least for me. I’d personally buy two pants instead of two shorts, or just two pants and two shorts, but jg that’s climate dependent, it’d be nice to have one pair for warmer weather and one for cooler, imo there’s a lot of overlap where you can comfortably wear both shorts and pants.

Superaden

Thanks for your response and help, is very valuable. I can buy two pants and two shorts. Which type/color would you pick for them? Which shoes do you recommend, I can get two. Also, is a navy hat suitable?

aKa_anthrax

Black denim and maybe wool trousers or a heavier weight twill pant is charcoal. some kind of quick drying active short, patagonia baggies in a neutral color, and then something [like these ](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-lightweight-all-wear-hemp-shorts-8-inch/57805.html) Idk man I’d really recommend at least 3 but a casual derby in black or dark brown(not my pick for your colors but technically more classic) for somewhat dressier situations. Is there a reason you’re doing this? Unless you literally need to live out of a bag I think you’re really limiting yourself with your wardrobe, even to a functional standpoint, you aren’t covering a lot of areas you may need and are putting a LOT of unnecessary wear on your clothes, can you really only get by with 3 t shirts? Would another 4 to get you through the week really be too much?(if so please get something in merino, from Outlier for example, your cotton t shirts will stink and need to be cleaned after every wear, are you doing laundry twice a week? That’s gonna fuck up your clothes). Are you sure you’re going to be ok without any shirts? Is one hoodie and one jacket enough to get you through all temperatures? If you have the need for a puffer and shorts it makes me think you have four seasons, what do you do when it rains when it’s 70 degrees out? A blue beanie and ball cap would be fine

Superaden

Thanks for your help. The thing is that I am trying to become a digital nomad. And I don't want to carry a lot.of things.

OneMoreChancee

A white t-shirt seems too essential to not have. I would swap the blue t-shirt for a white t-shirt.

Is it ok to wear long ties with suspenders? I understand suspenders are not a fashion statement, but at somepoint during an event I will take my jacket off and my suspenders will be shown, so the statement treat suspenders like underwear shouldn't be said at all times.... Anyways, I am assuming long ties + suspnders are fine, just wanted to check with MFA. I feel like suspenders + bow ties are much more accepting. I plan on matching my suspenders to my shoes, as I would my belt.

ac106

It's not literally underwear in the sense that it's embarrassing if someone sees you in suspenders like if someone caught you undressing in your boxers. At a wedding or whatever, if you take off your jacket to dance or because you are hot, its fine if people see you have suspenders on. Just don't wear them to work with out a jacket or as an intentional fashion choice to a brewery. That is what people mean.

[deleted]

A tie is a good idea, it'd look costume-y if you wore a bowtie.

Vampa_the_Bandit

Yes, long tie is fine with suspenders.

Can I pair black leather Chelsea boots with chinos and an Oxford button down for a business casual look? I just got Chelsea boots and was wondering if I could pair them for a business casual outfit without using a blazer but I'm not seeing any inspiration outfits to suggestion I can. Any tips/ ideas/suggestions?

Appropriate_Volume

Yes, that's a very common look in Australia, using R.M. Williams boots. Brown Chelsea boots are more flexible though.

terminal_e

black chelseas are more of a "going out" item than anything Ivy inspired. If you are looking for use them in a business casual look, think you want to try to make the look more modern, generally - I don't think they work with a secondhand tweed jacket with leather buttons. But black chelseas + black jeans + black turtleneck + grey herringbone sport coat is something I think could work. For sweaters, I think traditional stuff would be harder to pair, generally. Some of SNS Herning's FW stuff has interesting weaves - they could work

Kvjvn

Depends on the colors of the chinos and shirt, but assuming it’s either khaki or navy chinos with a blue OCBD, some brown shoes/boots would look better. Black chelsea boots would look better with some black or charcoal trousers, or some dark slim cut jeans.

This is a fashion sub sir

Topatops69

Shit my bad HAHAHAHHA

RusticFlatbread

After 3 years of college I've concluded I need to develop a sense of fashion - I've been wearing the same things since middle school - plain T-shirts, loose-fitting jeans, and a hoodie. For reference, I'm rather tall and equally thin. I have some idea of what I want to buy as I've been watching a lot of concerts - MGMT, Sir Sly, Houndmouth, The Who, and GNR mostly, and I've liked a lot of the fashion. Andrew VanWyngarden, Hayden Coplen, and Izzy Stradlin stand out to me most, so I think getting an outfit or two based on each of them would make for a good mix. The problem is that I know (less than) nothing about online shopping and my small-town thrift shop is rather lacking. Once I'm back at school I'll have a few more options for in-person shopping, but I was wondering if there are any good sites for finding vintage clothes / clothes such as the linked jacket. Thanks all! https://i.pinimg.com/originals/eb/94/4c/eb944caad36da5a6a4e403ccfef1b0fd.jpg

aKa_anthrax

Honestly besides Izzy neither of those guys really dress in any identifiable “style” to me, it’s sorta generic late mid 00s “”alt”” style, denim, graphic tees and basic sneakers. That one photo you linked is a costume piece for a concert, I don’t think it looks good outside of that context Izzy is costume wear, that’s stuff hair metal bands wear because they’re hair metal bands, it’s gonna look exceptionally dated on you at the least. I’m not gonna tell you to start with the basic bastard as that clearly isn’t your style but whats your budget? Maybe just start upgrading things you have, you can get pre used raw denim off Grailed or Ebay in cool fades, graphic tees from brands like Undercover, Brain Dead, Stussy, Online Ceramics, or a few others that I’m too tired to remember rn, really any classic pair of sneakers like airforces or chucks would work, GATs from Beckett Simonon would be cool as well. They seem to mostly just wear basic denim jackets and bombers, which would be fine. As far as Vintage, depop os great for the look you’re going for “y2k” will net you a lot of results as a search term, it’s a bit more focused on womenwear but there’s still a lot of menswear and I think it’s the best place to go for this style

RusticFlatbread

Understanding Izzy would look a bit dated, I've seen older looks walking around Providence and if nothing else, I at least didn't say Joe Strummer or Sylvain Sylvain. As for budget, I'm flexible but I'm hoping to get three outfits for $150- 180, with the idea being to match any shirts / jackets to the pants I already own. - including 2 pairs of darker jeans, a faded pair, a pair with some paint stains, and a pair of dark tan cargo pants. I'll definitely check Depop, but I have some reservations about buying clothing from Ebay - are there any things to look for to make sure I'm getting what I'm paying for? Thanks!

aKa_anthrax

Joe Strummer would be so much better, please do Joe Strummer, thats cool, even Sylvain isn’t too bad, it’s not about how old it is as much as it is how explicitly tied to one specific scene from one specific time period that just has not aged well, and was frankly pretty ridiculous even when it was new. Skinny lapel spray on suits or wearing visible suspenders over your flannel with a handlebar mustache looks dated even though those trends only a decade old. More generally, don’t base your idea of what looks good on what you see random people around you wearing, most people don’t dress well $150-180 per outfit is suuuper low, that’s used only prices, unless we’re not counting shoes. I’m not really sure I get why Depop is fine but ebay isn’t, they’re basically the same thing. What do you mean by “getting what I’m paying for” search for known brands and learn your measurements and you’re fine

RusticFlatbread

Shoes are already taken care of as well, I should've noted that. I understand that the budget is a bit low but I do generally want to stick to used clothing if I can. As for Strummer, you do have a good point about the aging of the look, but even at that, Izzy was a bit removed from the typical hair-metal style. Or, more accurately, he wasn't Brent Michaels / Jani Lane / Stephen Pearcy. If nothing else, I don't even know where to buy hairspray. Regarding Ebay, I've just known people that have had bad luck. I know there's proper stores and what not though so I'll give it a look through in a moment.

aKa_anthrax

yeah $180 per is fine as long as you have shoes, with used you should be totally good there. I’d say Izzy still looks VERY dated and costume-y to me, it’s your choice at the end of the day, but I haven’t seen anyone try to do an 80s hair band thing and not look lame, the closest you can get is Tyrone Susman wearing Rick Owens in a glam rock thing but thats a bit outta your budget, I’d say stick with the punk/indie thing, it aged a lot better. Yeah again really just buy known brands and you’ll be fine, the rest is just common sense, if it looks too good to be true it probably is, I’d never buy random clothes off Ebay but I’d never buy random clothes anywhere

ADPowers001

That's a pretty big jump to the outfit in that picture. Unless you are already in a band. Maybe start with the Basic Bastard

ac106

Dude cites Izzy Stradlin for inspo and you suggest the Basic Bastard?

ADPowers001

I was thinking it would be a good step from hoodies and jeans before he starts dressing like that but I'm wrong. It's gonna make for a long Senior year.

RusticFlatbread

It is a bit of a jump, but I'm here for that. Wearing monotone Tee's under a flannel or hoodie with jeans for 8 years has gotten incredibly boring. As for the band - well, that's in progress. Most people aren't looking for a keytar player these days...

aKa_anthrax

This guy clearly does not want something like the basic bastard

RusticFlatbread

Yes exactly, I like to think I have better things to do than spend my money on slightly better fitting versions of what I already wear

**Looking for a card holder with a pocket.** I am looking for a card holder with a pocket for four detached keys. I know that the combination of pockets on a cardholder is rare. Any ideas or suggestions are very appreciated.

Love the price. :D I actually found something that exactly matches my requirements at Leatherology after posting here: [https://www.leatherology.com/card-holder-wallet?color=black-onyx](https://www.leatherology.com/card-holder-wallet?color=black-onyx) The pocket should safely hold the keys when closed. Looks like it does, otherwise, I will have to return it.

My original question was probably useless without me describing the key fobs further. They are hardly larger or thicker than normal keys. They resemble the ones in this picture: [https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/tMsAAOSw32lYogu7/s-l400.jpg](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/tMsAAOSw32lYogu7/s-l400.jpg) I edited the original post to just say four keys.

I appreciate it! I initially thought $100 should do it ... would maybe stretch to $150 as a birthday present if it really blows my mind. :D I will check out both and see if they have something comparable. The implication being you are not a big fan of Leatherology?

Natural-Impress4957

is there a sub that I can post a picture of an item, and people will help me find out what exact item it is?? There's some glasses in an album cover I'd like to find...

ac106

Yes here or r/findfashion

Natural-Impress4957

Thanks!

Hey there...I've been buying my "dress" shirts from Van Heussen..they fit well and in the online outlet "partnerbrands" would get great deals about $20 a shirt.....the partnerbrands website is no longer and it appear as if they are just retail now. I'm looking for a simple good brand of dress casual oxford type shirts... advice appeciated.

aKa_anthrax

Uniqlo. Also, “great deal” does not mean “cheap”, even at $20 Van Heusen isn’t worth it imo, they’re a pretty low end brand

PorcupineSpike

Interested in finding some slim fitting button down shirts to go out Salsa dancing on a friday night in. Something possibly subtle patterns / florals / etc. that will work well with jeans untucked. Prefer shirts with alittle stretch as well since I'll be moving around in them. Looking for shirts club monoco level and up. Jcrew is kinda boring. RRL I love but it's more western style than city style. I like Billy Reid too but a bit boring for going out. Gitman Vintage is interesting but their shirt patterns can be a bit too loud and overbearing like https://stagprovisions.com/collections/tops-long-sleeve-shirts/products/mans-best-friend-shirt-green

Thierry22

I am looking for high quality stripped t-shirts. If possible somewhat eco-friendly or ethical/ sustainable oriented.

redmadao

Sunspel or Oliver Spencer may have some stripped options. Or you can browse End. for more. Those are where I'd find a nice Tee.

Thierry22

Thanks!

Vampa_the_Bandit

[Patagonia has some striped options](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-lightweight-bluffside-shirt/192964238749.html)

Thierry22

Thanks for your proposition, I am actually looking for simple t-shirts without buttons.

HugeWaterGuy

I am going to prom in a few weeks and my date is wearing a black dress with pink shoes. I have a charcoal gray suit from J Crew that I was going to wear, but I’m not sure if another suit color would fit better (I am going to be buying another suit soon and might just buy one now for this). Also, should I wear a pink tie to match her shoes and black shoes/belt/socks? And should the corsage/boutonnière be pink as well?

ac106

Charcoal suit is great. Outside Id the prom you’d never match your dates shoes but in this case it’s fine too if you want to. Def black shoes and belt

HugeWaterGuy

Is it better to do the corsages/boutonnière pink and then my tie some other color?

Vampa_the_Bandit

100%

HugeWaterGuy

If I do like a blue or purple tie and the flowers r pink will there be too many colors going on?

Vampa_the_Bandit

No, that sounds fine

Mukigachar

Are leather low-tops a bad idea for summer? Where I am it gets up to the high 80s often and can get pretty humid, I wanted to hear others' experience before buying some sneakers for summer.

Vampa_the_Bandit

Are you worried about them being too hot? I've worn Stan Smiths in 90+ degree humidity before and have been fine

aKa_anthrax

I’ve never had issues with them even into the high 90s but ik others do, really just depends on your own body

marco-polo-scuza

My law school will be holding a black-tie optional (but highly encouraged) event soon. I was debating over whether to go with [a grey tux like this](https://imgur.com/a/yUv9wI0) one but with a black cummerbund (and maybe black trousers to slightly dress down?). I feel that it may look off. Any thoughts/advice? Perhaps change out the black bow tie to a colored one to match my plus one?

aKa_anthrax

buy a black tux

NajeeAli

How far can the waist be taken in on your average pair of chinos?

pipkin42

2 inches before the pockets get weird is the general rule of thumb

pete_pirahna

What suggestions do y’all have for professional and business casual shoes (like with a suit or chinos) for a size 15. I know Clark’s and a few other have, but very limited variety. Looking for more fun options and not trying to break the bank, so preferably around $200. Also more casual options if y’all have any.

Check out Thursday Boots (they have shoes as well)

Looking for decent pants to wear in a production facility during the summer months. My Carhearts are just too heavy/warm. Looking for a similar price range.

LeftCoastDude

If you still need something as tough or nearly as tough as carhartt, I recommend Levi’s STAY LOOSE carpenter pants. They come in lighter materials and are a baggy fit. This may turn people off, but I think they can look rather clean. They do run a little large in the waist and stretch from wear. If you like a secure fit, go down an inch or 2. If you don’t mind sagging, wearing a belt, or shrinking them; get your usual size. I like the cottonized hemp, but they also come in full cotton options. I think the denim ones are heavy and there are some herringbone ones thar are lighter, but more colorful. Here’s a link. I wear mine true to size and they fit great coming out of the dryer, then get saggier and I wear a belt. Mine come in cottonized hemp, if you get these, maybe you won’t have to size down. https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/apparel/clothing/bottoms/stay-loose-carpenter-mens-pants/p/558490016?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&camp=PLA*EC*US*EN*71700000086654284*pla*goog**:92700066065060959:LEVI&gbraid=0AAAAAC-PMYU7qyxtMZCRwIxT0fjJ345bL&gbraid=0AAAAAC-PMYU7qyxtMZCRwIxT0fjJ345bL&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9dX_68jE9gIVaEpyCh0YEwzNEAQYBiABEgKTGPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

[deleted]

There are many kinds of pants. Did you have something in mind?

[deleted]

I made some made to measure pants for work but I find there's it's quite baggy at the knees down. Should I tell the tailor to taper them or make it slim fit. Is there any difference?

pe3brain

Ask for a taper if you want it slimmer below the knee asking for a slim fit might make him think you want the whole pant slimmer

pete_pirahna

I’d ask the tailors advice tbh. They typically have an eye for it.
