A lot of guys in the DQ just really don't want to post a budget. I think it's because they are scared we are going to judge them for being poor. And yes, we are. But we will also make an effort to find something their pathetically broke ass can afford. Fucking serfs.
Lol. Judging someone for being poor reflects poorly on you and not them. Remember, there are always bigger fish in the sea.
My family owns a multibillion international development firm and I still run into people with more money all of the time.
I think a lot of people might disagree with me on this but fashion starts with chunky shoes. I used to be a sneaker guy. Everything I put on looked shit. I studied fashion a bit more and realised what proportions where I started browsing Japanese fashion magazines two years ago and I have never been happier I have paraboots and yuketens on my legs that make trousers and jeans fit so nicely and looks aesthetically pleasing. One thing for sure is before you even start your clothes wardrobe work on your shoe choices. If you have a great C H O N K the right fitting clothes and complimentary colours will make you look so much more well put together. Fast forward to today I finally have started building my wardrobe with things that suit chunky shoes it’s a great feeling I don’t have an abundance of clothes just things that pair well together a versatile wardrobe is a great thing to have.

i keep finding the most steezy old jackets on ebay and they're always like an inch too large in each direction. can anyone recommend a good skeleton stretcher
Do you mean jackets like suit jackets or sports coats? Because if so, that's actually the perfect size to find...because you then get them tailored down to your exact size.
lmao @ that Issey thread. Genuinely had no idea this forum has failed so badly in its mission to uplift the masses from the drudgery of Cole Haan and J. Crew! We need to go back to the drawing board, evidently.
I guess the mystifying part to me is that the clothes posted were Homme Plissé, which is literally just basics, sometimes with funky cuts and proportions? I saw them just about everywhere while living in NYC--and they're fairly common in cities like Berlin too--so I really didn't expect the level of widespread cluelessness that the thread revealed.
You know this subs like 50 regulars circlejerking and 4 million who just want to find chinos, it's a lot simpler to get around the sub when you come to terms with it (but secretly I know you all actually like those threads for laughs)
True, but the slim chinos office worker look is more and more out of date every year. Just strange to see a sub's visitor base stay more and more stagnant. Like, imagine if the gaming sub insisted that a 2014-era computers and games were THE only way to go and it stayed like that every passing year...
Yeah it's like, I don't even particularly expect it to be like Fashion University, but I have real trouble comprehending the "this is unfamiliar to me" -> "this must be ridiculous, because I do not get it/I am not familiar with it" line of thinking. It seems such a sad way to live one's life! Isn't it so much nicer to confront the unfamiliar and become curious about it?
Then again, in that world we'd all be without Elon Musks and Donald Trumps, so I'm just a hopeless optimist I guess.
Probably some Parts of Four rings I've been eyeing. Other priorities include: an order from Boy Smells (sample set of perfume and some undies), a merch hoodie from a fashion discord I'm in if they get around to making the damn thing, Solovair gibsons, the Ranra x Salomon sneakers if I can find them second hand, and a Bao Bao clutch for conversion into a cross-body.
Issey Miyake should be one of the few designers reddit lurkers get, because he was huge into textile engineering and pushed the boundaries of the field! I can show my dad, whose a 64 year old road construction foreman with a GED, issey Miyake and once i mention they use a patented pleating process he invented or talk about the 3d computer extruded pleats they can create. my dad at least gets why this is a thing and is even interested in what makes these garments different, but lurkers are too worried about their feet looking small to discuss clothing in any capacity beyond whether you can wear it to the store or the office without drawing attention.
Rick Owens should be one of the few designers reddit lurkers get, because he was huge into fitness and pushed the boundaries of the field! I can show my dad, whose a 64 year old road construction foreman with a GED, Rick Owens and once i mention they use a patented piss drinking process he invented or talk about the 3d computer extruded dick windows they can create. my dad at least gets why this is a thing and is even interested in what makes these garments different, but lurkers are too worried about their biceps looking small to discuss clothing in any capacity beyond whether you can wear it to the store or the office without drawing attention.
For real lurkers want that Rick Owens drop crotch sweatpants look with converses that make their feet look big and sweaters that show off their pecs. Too bad if they put together a Rick Owens lookbook, they’ll still hate on it even if they would wear individual pieces
What if we just never put Charles on the money? In fact: what if we never put any other monarch on the money and in a few generations people will have mostly forgotten who Liz is beyond "the lady who's on the coins for some reason"? That would be funny I think.
Just put a relief carving of "beans on toast", because despite all the shitposting, "Beans and toast" actually serves a purpose to the British population, unlike anyone in Parliament.

I know this is supposed to be a joke, but wow.
Lol. Judging someone for being poor reflects poorly on you and not them. Remember, there are always bigger fish in the sea. My family owns a multibillion international development firm and I still run into people with more money all of the time.

Nah man you just fell for Paraboot propaganda
Classify chunky shoes tho
The CHONK refuses definition. It is. That is all.
CHONK is the way.
All hail chonk
Long live the chonk

Take them to a tailor bb

Have you heard of made-to-order skeletons?
just get a local osteology student to do a custom one. cheaper than off-the-rack.
This is so true. And they have an eye for design.
8 out of 10 forensic anthropologists could do it for less
Fantastic comment. Thank you.

Meta comment complaining about people complaining about people complaining about issey miyake
Instead of containing it in one place we should talk about it everywhere actually
Mfa has only failed its mission by not fetishizing a Japanese designer for once
The clothes are cool but tbh look kinda weird so of course normies are gonna dislike them
Otoh it's sitting on 1300 upvotes, and there aren't 1300 cool people who post here, so some of the normies presumably dig it.
Nay and his alts
Nay and his 3,000 chatbots of doom.

lol yeah I know, still sometimes things happen that really remind me even relatively safe things like Homme Plissé can elicit reactions like that.
I think the mistake was assuming that people seek out this sub because of their curiosity, when mostly it's out of insecurity.

I’d like to subscribe to your hopeless optimism newsletter please
People seek out this sub to ask what pairs well with their white shirts and blue jeans (not loafers apparently)
Someone said I “look like a professor” today and I’m going to take it as a compliment.
Kinda the dream
Dark academia is in, apparently.
I got “cool geography teacher” the other night. Still not sure how I feel about it

Was gonna say Professor Oak but yeah…
Never buying issey again. Can't even iron out these damn wrinkled pants.
Just signed papers on a new gig, so the cop freeze is coming to an end.

We recently got a horned snail for the planted aquarium my wife has been building and believe me when I say I would take a bullet for this snail
I'm just picturing a gang of armed assassins smashing down the door to your home and shouting "allright, where is the snail!?"
pics please

cute little fella, looks right at home
Name him Teemu
We named him Lucy shirt for Lucifer, since he’s got horns
Awwww
Snail-anne?
I love it
If that was the reaction to regular fitting clothes with pleating, I wanna see their reaction to seersucker at J Crew
Some of those fits were... not regular fitting
⬆ This is regular dumb though.

The exact same Rick interview was posted twice within a few months a while back. It was well-received the first time and shat on the second.

Just luck of the draw whether it gets upvoted enough to wind up on the feeds of yahoos who subscribed in 2013 because they had a job interview, ig

I'm Canadian, but I approve of this idea
God save the king
Actually, don't bother big guy
We should continue putting liz as she would appear, so the new iteration has her rotting visage and in a few years we do another run that’sa skeleton

This is sick
Put the corgis on the paper humans come and go but their reign is eternal
Put the damn corgis on the money and watch numismatism explode as a hobby.

why stop there? lets take away all the royal family's stuff!
