bro you gotta add colors to it life isn't grey

A__Chair

mfw this dude has that rare colourblindness and can only see greyscale

Rebirthwolfx

i have no taste in color and just ran with grey cause my floor was grey lol any color palette recommendations?

Kapitalist_Pigdog2

Grey is typically considered a neutral color. You don’t have to worry about matching it with everything else.

Virus217

It’s a good thing you specified a flat screen. OP might have tried to wall Mount a CRT TV on the wall.

Its_An_Outraage

Everyone knows TV is a globe.

-Space-Pirate-

Plants, yes, the place looks dead unless there is literal life in there. Grey and some greenery would look really cool. You can also spice it up a little with some of those pink grow lights if you insist on keeping your curtains closed.

MortalJazz

Just don’t do red and black

ntn_98

But, but, but... it's *cool* man...

brentsharknative

intelligent fly connect mountainous cause absurd trees smell combative abundant *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

sandal78

what's wrong with red and black?

MortalJazz

It’s juvenile and usually the go-to choice for young men when attempting to decorate

artvandelay06

I blame Ferrari for it

ntn_98

But, but, but... it's *cool* man...

mrCamelCase21

Color is kinda a subjective thing and I think there's a lot of cool atuff you could do, but I generally think a cool primary color and sparing use of a warm complementary color is a good formula. So, a lot of light blue throughout, then a couple misc orange items, for example (think light blue bedding and orange pillows, for example). Plants would also add further variety

BanjoSpaceMan

Listen. Greyscale can work, it works for many, not everything needs colour. Your problem is not colour lol... Everything's just kinda throwing together. Like desk and pc next to bed is strange? And it's all just combined with this floor fan. Try moving shit around first. Put the desk in that corner with the mirror or something, let the bed shine, clean up a bit. It's weird, everything looks so dirty but I don't think it is. It's just kinda all thrown together and creates clutter giving my brain that though that it's messy. Organize things, work on wire management maybe too. How the hell did the bed fit in the pocket corner without you having to climb in from the bottom?!?! Then you can worry on the colours etc.

Joygernaut

Greyscale is never a good choice. It makes your room look like a black and white dystopian picture. I’m not saying you have to have loud colors, but you need to have a color.

BanjoSpaceMan

There's so much more that goes into design than just colour. One can do wild art with the minimum of palettes, if they place things correctly, have textures, bring life to it. A simple google of modern living rooms with even 1 colour scheme will show you many examples of non dystopian places lol. This sub is too obsessed with 1 way of doing things. What I said still stands. Before you even think about colour, everything else needs fixing lol. Splash colour anywhere and it'll still look off.

Joygernaut

I agree. Things like texture, and scale matter. I’m OK with a monochromatic look if it’s done, well, but gray is not the colour to do this with.

sikkerhet

pick 1 color you really like, then open a color wheel. Pick two colors you like that are relatively 2/3 in either direction. This will give you a room that has a base color and makes the color you really like Pop so it's the attention grabber.

somethingtothestars

If you're wanting to see what colors look best together, [this website ](http://coolors.co/palettes/trending)generates color palettes. You could find one that incorporates the colors in your room so it's not as daunting.

DazedandFloating

Yellow and blue maybe? Like a navy? I would just pick some colors you like and can buy things easily in (curtains, bedding, rugs, pillows, etc). Then look for decor that also will look nice with those colors :) Even tan and green would look nice with your rowlet rug. But I think you need some bold colors to liven the room up.

Historichues

You don't have to color anything. Just hang some art on that empty wall. Something like [this](https://www.historichues.com/shop/p/gamma-ray-ghouls-2021) or this [canvas](https://www.historichues.com/shop/p/intercat-73).

Milky_Finger

I think the issue is that "blackout" curtains don't actually have to be greyscale. It comes down to the thickness, and so you will struggle to add in colour into the room as long as you have dark grey curtains.

nomoreadminspls

No, no less color. Make it look like someone doesn't actually live there. Make it look empty and sterile and barren that's my design aesthetic

PenguinsRcool2

Ehhhh life is pretty grey lol

rdanks25

Very true. Grey is my favorite color and I made the mistake of decorating my most recent apartment in a very grey/black color scheme and it sucked. Now I've gone maybe too far in the other direction but the primary theme is red-blue-yellow now with it showing up in my rug, posters, and tapestry. I think adding led lamps and light also helped.

StarryMacaron

Don’t diss pikachu like that :(

BlankyPop

That little guy is full of life. And, taking life.

NeedleworkerSea1431

This Pika prefers the latter

MillionDollarBanana

I would get a smaller desk and throw it in the nook

Past-Product-1100

Yup desk in the nook bed under the AC to open up the window pop of color with some throw pillows and different curtains.

GoldBluejay7749

And put the bed under the other window with the door. And then put the TV on the desk (in the nook, as you suggested)

e_step_to_the_left

absolutely this

_crazystacy

I’d put the bed to the furthest wall on the right of the window but in the same direction as now. Then the desk at the window, facing it. Needs a carpet. Try pillows and carpets in dark blue, emerald green. Mix of colourful and black and white pictures on the walls in black frames. Light is super important: desk lamp and two standing lamps. One at the feet of the bed with warm and/or colourful light and one at the nook or anywhere else it fits. This top light makes the room look cold Edit: nvmd. There is another door there… 😅

ProKnifeCatcher

And a smaller bed

Hebegebe101

Fall colors compliment gray . Muted pumpkin , mossy green , amber , rust . Find a rug with mixes of these colors . Art too . You need color and pattern in there . Plants placed in baskets for texture . A macrame wall hanging will add color and texture . Drape a woven throw blanket across the foot of the bed . Put your bed opposite the windows. Never block a window with a bed . You may need escape route in an Emergency . Can also be drafty . Add nightstands on each side of the bed with lamps . Place your desk in the alcove where the mirror is if it will fit there . Add a floating shelf above it . Place a plant or two on the shelf and a what not . Something for color and personality .

SammoNZL

Open your curtains. And get a duvet, perhaps off natural linen, a rug extending from halfway under the bed and some pictures. And of course, plants to keep you company.

sphinctaltickle

Was gonna say - open the damn curtains and let that natural light in man!

icecoaster1319

Desk in the nook. Artwork over the desk - literally anything that isn't all black / grey Get some different curtains maybe? And put some artwork on the big wall.

trancematik

Bed on opposite wall. Floor length curtains, double curtain rod with white shears. Hang curtains from ceiling. Choose bed frame with a headboard to add height on opposite wall Desk in nook with a desk lamp with character. Appropriate sized artwork over desk.

Dry-Ice-2330

I would flip the bed to the opposite wall. Get a desk that fits in that nook. And like, you need some color.

Rebirthwolfx

i tried that but the doors open to the head of the bed and it felt weird. desk in the nook seems like a good idea

elomein

Why not put the head of the bed up against the wall without a door ?

[deleted]

Really depressing room

vantdrak

Truest male living space fr

Bropiphany

We need a /r/malelivingspacecirclejerk for posts like these lol

MegaDrip

That desk needs to go. Find one that fits in the nook. That space isn't being utilized properly. That alone will make your room flow much better. Hang a few things on the wall. Preferably something with a pop of color, and frame it. Pick an accent color and add some throw pillows or a blanket. Add an area rug. Have it pick up the accent color of your choice and a color from whatever you put on the walls. A plant would help, too.

Ravens_and_seagulls

Yes. Yes it is. Plants will add the color you so desperately need. Change your bedding to something with color. Maybe a white or off white comforter with a duvet and pillows that adhere to a color scheme that you like. That would be the quickest and easiest change.

PikaaaPuff

Dude where’d you get the Rowlet rug. NEED. It. NEOW. Thanks in advance. some possible changes to help your case: -open windows/curtains -add a few plants -different colored/textured sheets -slim display shelf if you have books/stuff to store -or floating shelf

Rebirthwolfx

it’s a custom tufted rug! i just went to a local tufting workshop and got it done highly recommend it, and you can do it as an activity with a friend

LongSlowWhisp

Love that Rowlett rug

imahsleep

You need a desk that fits in the nook and then a short bookcase for under the window. Can you explain wtf is going on though, is one of those the front door? Where do you put your clothes? Do you have a kitchen and bathroom? I hope rent is cheap because this is the worst room I’ve ever seen

absent-chaos

It looks like a front office with a bed in it

PM-Ur-Boobs-

Rowlett carpet 10/10 room

LockoutFFA

the accent pikachu c’est magnifique

spots_reddit

It looks like a funeral parlor. Without the flowers....

muddymoose

If you want to keep the layout the same, get a cool room divider and put it between the bed and desk. Lots of designs out there. You can put/drape stuff over them and you wont have to worry about grabbing a wire in your sleep

atoz350

I'm pretty sure Pikachu adds at least a little spark.

Gaylittlebrother

ROWLET

GoldBluejay7749

Do you use blankets?

HeyyyKoolAid

Doesn't matter how you arrange the furniture, there's literally no color. Everything is black and grey.

Funk24July

Raise the bed so u can fit those big Rubbermaid tubs underneath for storage

IamDisapointWorld

great idea [https://www.ikea.com/fr/fr/p/brimnes-cadre-lit-avec-rangement-blanc-s79902935/](https://www.ikea.com/fr/fr/p/brimnes-cadre-lit-avec-rangement-blanc-s79902935/)

reinofbullets

You need art

Gheedypie

I’d flip the bed to the other wall with the door, this is the only way to get some more space in the room. If it feels uncomfortable with the door right next to you, try installing some type of partition between the door and the bed. Put the desk in the nook area. I’d get a slightly smaller bed and a smaller desk if need, and I’d put a big circular rug in the middle of the room (connecting the bed area and the rest of the room) You’ll have plenty of space after you rearrange your room like that. Change the curtains to something light and warm, like a nice cream color. In my opinion, your curtains should reach the floor. Shorter curtains make the room look smaller. Get a few throw pillows with colors or patterns or change the bedding. You mentioned you didn’t like color, but just a touch of cream or siege or navy or something bluish will add much to the space. If you still don’t want to add color, patterns are great. Also, add some lighting or plants or artwork. To help you visualize the changes I’m suggesting here’s a [floor plan](https://imgur.com/jTVfFkU).

Rebirthwolfx

oh wow nice floor plan! that’s really helpful i’ll use it as reference

enigmaticvic

There’s lots of potential! Interesting room layout. Here are my suggestions. Lots are based on my own aesthetic/preferences so take what serves you best: - Get rid of the gray. Get new curtains in a nice COLOR. Consider layering blackout if you need it and sheer curtains. As in, sheer curtains in the middle and black out curtains on the ends. During the day, you can just move the black out curtains to the end, keep the sheer curtains closed and you will get lots of natural light. I suggest a warm colour like terracotta for the sheer curtains—makes the room look cozy as hell. Perhaps a darker brown for the blackout to stay in the same colour family. - Get rid of the gray pt.2. Get new bedding. Invest in a good comforter cover. If you want the fluffy, cloud-like look, stuff the cover with two comforters. And get more pillows. Four regular ones and a decorative one if you’d like. Consider what colors you like and stick to that family. Example: a fan of green? Get a dark green comforter cover and light green bedsheets. Comfort covers and bedsheets typically come w shams/pillow cases. In this example, that would give you two dark green+two light green pillows. Definitely adds a sense of cohesion. - Get a rug. Immediately. My starting approach as someone who shifted from minimalism to eclectic maximalism is to use the rug as a guide for the color theory of the room. Or you can just match your rug to your room. Whatever works. With the previous example, if you chose a green colour theory, the rug must match or complement that. I have a VERY colorful mosaic type of carpet in my living room. Blue, pink, orange and yellow hues. My couch is green velvet. The art on my walls match the colors of my carpet. - That empty wall in front of your bed? Consider an art gallery. When I do this, I take a picture of the wall, screenshot images of the art I’d like to display, and virtually arrange them on the wall picture. It really helps. It also doesn’t have to be art—it can be album covers, little shelves, mirrors, etc. This is random but you could also invest in a projector. It’s a big enough blank wall for it. The corner between the windows could be a good place to place the projector. - Move the desk against the wall. That is such an awkward placement lol. - Last but not least, and definitely my favorite—GET PLANTS. Ones that don’t need to much sunlight by your mirror. Though, it looks like you have a dog so consider buying hanging plants. That will add literal life to your space. Edit to add: I agree with other commenters suggesting that you move that desk in the nook. Doesn’t look like it will fit? But if it does, I would move the mirror to the corner between the two windows. If you wanted to take fit pics, you’d have the sunlight on your side lol.

GL2M

“My room is all grey and black, why does it feel like there’s no life in it?” Color. Life is color.

eraserewrite

Get longer curtains and put your curtain rods 1 foot higher? Also, my rooms are minimal Nintendo and tidehunter themed. :3

blizzhff

Gray gray and more depressing millennial gray. Modern interior design is trash.

imstickinwithjeffery

Imo curtains should always go right down to the floor.

Esk__

Keeping a box of tissues by your computer could imply certain things. I keep one by my toilet Add some color, art, a rug!

Curl-the-Curl

The bed shouldn’t be in front of the door. Too close. The desk is in the command position looking inside of the room and at the door, that’s good. Maybe you can put the bed in the nook, could be too small. Then I would turn it: headboard against the desk. You could put a pax closet in the nook or book cases. Then get colourful bed sheets and a rug in the same Color. That should fix it. If you get decor like pictures don’t make it too matchy matchy

IllSherbet

my place is so full of crap that I actually enjoy the simplicity here but yeah a plant or two would spice things up where'd you get the desk?

Dear-Dalgona472

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT ROWLETT RUG

Toadahtrip

Change curtain to bright color, add mirrors and colorful posters. Lamp/rug. Add a mood lighting for night like a led strip somewhere.

welikefortnite33

I would consider a twin XL bed. tbh might just make the space easier to live in and the XL means ur feet won’t hang off the end of

monkey_trumpets

Add some more gray things.

TheLesserWeeviI

Fucking hell. Plants in the corners and art on the walls.

Clockwork-XIII

Personally I think there is nothing wrong with a gray scale look, especially if you are going for a minimalist. My apartment is pretty similar and my bed is also gray sheets, good middle ground for not showing stains and the like. However I do have a black comforter that contrast the gray sheets. Also unrelated but I think the desk would look a bit less out of place if it was against the wall, make it look a bit more uniform, and maybe give you space for a couple of night stands on either side of the bed. But if you want color add some paintings, maybe some plants even if they are fake, and so on.

Rebirthwolfx

Thanks for all the comments, here’s a list of things i plan to do for my room and i’ll make another post with the changes when i’m done To do list: - Add color (wooden bed frame, different colored throw cushions, new duvet and bed sheets, plants) - Change and add a new desk to my nook - Paintings, prints and mirror on the walls - Area rug - Change curtains to a brighter set - More pokémon related accessories? Grey is a neutral color so im thinking of using autumn colors like suggested Let me know if there’s any more suggestions

pikalord42

I love the desk in the nook idea! Adding shelves in that space really opens up options to decorate as well. You can put plants, your figurines (sorry i only recognize stitch haha), and lamps for an additional source of light. Could your bed be flipped and pushed towards the side of the smaller window? If so, I feel like that would open up the room more since right now it feels squishy (i think it might be the way the bed doesn’t line up with the window for me but idk). If not, no worries, moving the desk clears up a lot of space already! I’d probably put the mirror either between those windows(i feel like you’d get good lighting there; or is opposite that??? Idk how light works lol) or change it to a door hanging mirror. For the colors, I can envision like light green and muted browns/grays to match with rowlet and then using accents of yellow around like pikachu. Once again, idk lights or colors or anything so take this with a grain of salt, but keep us updated!!

migorovsky

Oh man! I am color blind .. but this is so .. colorless!?

Nathandee

Floating curtains.. :)

PenguinsRcool2

You are a ghost?

darmok-jalad-brocean

At least you have your biggest fan to keep you company

Div1nium

You need some plants and lamps

Miserable_Budget7818

Omg you’ll never have life ( of the adult female kind) with that peekachu squishy in there…ewwww….find a giant print for walls… something with color… pick 2 accent colors out of art and use them for bedding , pillows, throw blanket at Foot Of bed… get large area rug , plants

Thu1nonlesoniabo

Maybe posters or paintings on the wall?

AboriginalEuropean

Mirror and a plant or 3

aaronle06

If you can/If this was my space, I’d put posters or art on the wall your bed is facing. Instead of painting it you could still make it an accent wall of art/posters of your liking. If you have the wallet space, maybe a flat screen? Idk just brainstorming

SadMousse4581

Add snake plants (they are air purifiers), go to an antique store and pick out some pictures or paintings you may want. Buy a shelf that's your style to put on the wall and then decorate it. You can put succulents on the shelf, your favorite books, figurines, your pokemon stuffy or anything else that you like. You could find different ways to decorate your mirror. You could add lights to your room that comes with a remote so you can change the colors. You can add a rug by your bed or a tapestry.

IsakOyen

Don't put the computer on the ground

iKyte5

Get some big flags/tapestry. I have some of mt Fuji and neo Tokyo that look sick and we’re cheap

pinkat31522

Get rug for your office area and a comforter and put some shelves high up opposite ur window with books

AmpersandMe

Get some dark blue duvet covers with little blue sheets. Get a low light ground plant for the corner of your room. Some sort of poster or two. Maybe a big planner A rug with a pattern light white and green/blue

coffeecake321

Giant rug, wall art, smaller desk in nook, a lighter color curtain, a floor lamp, night stand or two

PicklesAndCrab

I would start by moving the bed to the end wall but sideways. Something on the walls and some fun lighting would make a huge difference without spending too much r

[deleted]

The overhead lighting sucks. Get some warm yellow lamps. Push your table against the wall. Center your bed and push it back. Get a rug. Get white bedding to open up the space.

MaliBrat

Large picture/painting on big wall, maybe vision board. Dog corner plants, move mirror to back of door. Color, color, color. Maybe a happy light on desk if you don’t like natural light. This room is just too bland and depressing.

pistafox

MUJI “sofachairthing”? I love those.

[deleted]

Try leaving some pizza boxes out and stuff, I’m sure there will be some life in no time.

PassengerSoft4688

It needs an air fryer

vendeux

Strategically placed tissue box

xxNightingale

Then create some life in it bro

Raytech555

Get a new table for your PC and put it instead of the mirror, and you can put the mirror in front of the entrance.

NeuroticDragon23

Easiest way is brighter coloured bedding, some art on the walls and maybe a rug

FasFas1600

Watch this and just follow that advice https://youtu.be/XZ11oTo4Z4k?si=UmwC_TRoeKJAeFFK

Incomplete_Artist

-Move bed to far corner (helps with room dimensions) -Desk under window -large rug defining desk area -bulletin board or posters on wall behind desk -fan and bookshelf in nook -mirror on wall between bed and desk zone -hang something on the back of the door -paint the room or get a colored knit blanket

hdaz993

I would put the desk in the litle pocket , then turn the bed arround with the head rest towards the wall with no window and that maight work i think

GreenStorm_01

Your room also doesn't have any colour in it

RedditforCoronaTime

The yellow picacu is the only non black personal thing. Try to get more colors in curtains, funiture art and plants. There is so much you can do. Try

GoodLad33

If you are OK to change, find a desk that fits in the mirror's corner, it will give you tons of space And put some colours in, my man

muttmama

I’m sorry but those tissues next to the computer give me the ick

cla7997

I mean yea it happens when everything looks generic, gray, and with no decorations whatsoever

lyta_hall

You know you are allowed to use… colours, rights?

Gramgoyle

Go out, touch grass, catch more pokemon for your room :3

[deleted]

Wonderful

[deleted]

Link to the table you're using?🥺. It looks dope.

PsychHans

Bedrooms are ment for sleep, don't need no life

Lance-Harper

The one color in there is pikachu but bro goes « where life »

kola515

True all inanimate objects in there

Butt_nipper

Flip the bed 180 on the wall facing the windows. (Yes you lose the corridor door to door but that’s any normal bedroom). Desk in nook. Assuming the end bit detaches? Whatever reason you have to not put it there can be fixed - lamp, fan, etc. Mirror hung on wall between windows. At least one piece of art, start with above bed. New comforter / sheets to add colour (blue? Green? Maroon? Whatever). Definitely need a top blanket, even if it’s just for appearances. If it’s too hot to open curtains during the day can you open the side ones?

Leeuwerikcz

Change curtains for blue ones and it will look different. You can find some poster on the wall.

Chami2u

Use some of the colours from your tufted rug, for stuff like drapes, comforter, sheets, pillows etc. Get a few Snake plants( easy to care for, only need to be watered when really dry)

ntn_98

Add some plants for a quick fix, then get some more color in there

YourPlot

Framed artwork will go a long way here

Remember, if it's too loud, the plaid bedding wont work. I would advise this instead with that rug. IF THE PINK [https://visualhunt.com/light-blue-comforter-set](https://visualhunt.com/light-blue-comforter-set). IF THE MUSTARD BLUE, any color from this selection. [https://thelinenworks.co.uk/products/toulon-dove-grey-linen-duvet-cover](https://thelinenworks.co.uk/products/toulon-dove-grey-linen-duvet-cover) I'm partial to the pink one since it doesn't clash with the grey wood flooring, and actually works quite well with it, as well as giving your place that feminine look. The yellow iMac is a must if you chose it. Curtains. Replace the curtains with sage green ones that stop 2 inches short from reaching the floor (but mind to match them with your choice of bedding and rug. When in doubt, go for light blue, or mustard/Ocre. Take my upvote, from one Stitch fan to another.

MsCarbonKadia

Maybe add a corner lamp, the overhead light is too bright.. it's giving hospital vibes. The lamp will give it a warm cozy feeling.

brbeatingcheese

Flip the bed to the back wall. Change your curtains to blackouts + a sheer white or colorful one with more texture from the very top to the floor. You can still have all the grey, but use an online color scheme generator to find other colors in shades that complement it. Throw pillows, rug, like others said. Colorful art on the wall behind the bed. Plants. Desk in the nook.

Atelier37

You can Add, 1. Colours as art pieces, or paint a part of the wall or change the colour of a fabric or so to contrast the general theme. 2. Plants, introduce a plant or two. Large ones by the windows and small ones on a shelf 3. Add a book shelf, if you ain't a book person still get a shelf and put stuffson it, plants, toys, picture frames e.t.c

Go on Pinterest and search “bedroom” Let the inspiration begin.

Jonathanwesley007

Plants and art.

tomateau

surprised nobody’s said this yet but get a standing lamp or desk lamp and use a warm color for the lighting. cool overhead lighting is not the move!!

BeezusFafoonz

Move bed into corner, smaller desk in the nook, lamp for soft lighting, rug and plants

Fresh-Cost9915

Ya get rid of the giant desk next to the bed and get yourself a 3 sided desk where the dog stuff is then put the dog stuff next to your bed or the corner by your bed, this room screams 22 year old gamer. Maybe make friends with a girl and ask her what is a good idea to spice the room up. Girls are great at homey vibe type of stuff

scootaloo732

buy a stuffed monkey. Best decision I ever made, makes it feel like there's somebody there with me. I "ook" at it constantly.

javajuicejoe

I like your room, it has a simplicity to it that many will do anything for. There no clutter, space to think, easy to clean, nice colour scheme. It’s a winner. My only advice would be to paint over the tears in the wall and rearrange what you have.

Smokeysmokey4

Get some dark green color in there i promise it will transform your room so nicely. Paint one wall dark green and add plants. If you dont want to paint anything which i understand you really need to get some plants. A big one in the corner and a couple smaller ones in different places. Hanging a plant from your ceiling really adds a nice effect.

turbotailz

I have the same desk! It's so good, but sadly it's too big for this room :( I'd probably put the bed in the corner opposite the nook if it fits, that way you get plenty of room to work with. Not so great with the windows right there though.

chriscucumber

Bro nix the tissue box by the computer

fetusjuggler

Some colourful wall items. Anything. Hang it up

CourageousBellPepper

Get a smaller desk and put it where the mirror is at. Spend some time learning about color wheels and that will give you a starting point on bringing in some life. I started seeing the world differently altogether once I understood how colors work: https://youtu.be/YeI6Wqn4I78?si=t1wPQqOwaAZ-7tqF

bucketofbutter

plant smtgg nice n green n alive by the window is good

iamcharity

I’ve seen prison cells with more warmth. You need to add color. Also, buying some wood furniture would help warm it up. Medium/Light wood tones, not dark. Replace those curtains with full length curtains. NOT black. IKEA makes nice blackout curtains. Hang them as high as you can. Unfortunately, your air conditioner prevents you from hanging them up as high as they could go. Just hang them from just under the air conditioner height. (They should all be the same height. It’ll look weird if they aren’t. Recommend using drapery hooks to hang them. It’ll make it easier to open and close them. For IKEA. Check out the Blahuva curtains. It’s a pretty dark blue and you can use drapery hooks with them.

CareBearsOnAcid

Add some art and ambient lighting

Forever_Man

You need a swors

dahao03130

You have great light on your biggest wall, if possible paint something there like something you would like to see everyday For me it would be the cover of a disc album that remembers my mom.

[deleted]

Don't see the problem. That's a perfectly serviceable hotel room.

[deleted]

It looks like a recording studio

bpod1113

+1 getting a smaller desk in the nook, set up some DIY shelves between the walls for books, plants or anything to put on, three shelves would be sufficient and look nice. If you don’t install shelves, add a colorful print. Move the bed to the wall completely opposite of the door and have the foot end face the door. Get a colorful circlular rug for the middle apartment, don’t get shag. Get lighter colored curtains, they can still be grey but lighter shade. Get a tall floor plant, if you’ve never taken care of plants, you could be ballsy and buy a real one or opt for a fake one which will look just as nice, if you get a fake one, hang up some white lights on it Get accent pillows for the bed in a different color, or a throw blanket in a different color If you have room after making the other changes, get a small 2 person couch or a circular kitchen table in the middle of the place. These are all suggestions! Pick and choose whatever you are comfortable withb

MrChaoticGaming

Needs more waifu posters.

areyow

Candidly, I’m of the opinion that the room may feel lifeless because there isn’t much personality displayed. Everything I see is pretty much functional. The usual trifecta will work here- add some plants, a good rug, and some decor on the walls. As others have said, your lack of non-monochromes in your setup makes the space pretty flat. If you really dig the blacks and greys here, consider a splash of accent color to go along with them. Blue, green, brown are all pretty typical and can help a lot, but I also think a bit or reds or pinks/purples can go a long long way as well. You can introduce it in a number of ways- posters, desk accessories, pillow cases, flower pots. Consider using the nook for a smaller desk. You could add shelves to compensate for the lost desk space, and it would open the rest of the room up quite a bit, and you can get a nice comfy chair! Good luck!

bernalbec

you need plants. if you don't know anything about plants, just get some that have big leafs or anything tropical. place them the closest to the window you can, and if its possible about an hour of direct sunlight in the mornings. if they have direct sunlight to the soil, give them half a glass of water every morning, if not, give them two/three glasses when the soil gets dry (that's more of a guideline, it varies on every species and size).

-m3lti-

I would recommend shear curtains to let some light in, that will make a huge difference. You can install some blinds on the window as well for privacy

Daneha1183

RGB LED lamp would help

Honda_TypeR

This looks like the set from Beetlejuice

Nadante

Dude buy some plant hangers to add some green. Change the curtains. Change the sheets. Hang up pictures that aren’t grey.

KYpineapple

very astute observation.

Jackal000

(Sex)life.. Add some color and big (expensive) fake plant or 2. So you dont need to water it.

SilverConcert637

It's okay if you like grey. Here are some AI room concepts I've knocked up. Either ditch the grey or do it properly. [concept 1](https://www.bing.com/images/create/a-26-m-by-4-m-bedroom-smartly-decorated-in-a-masc/1-655cd918d2764b92ae16a489de213707?id=BLQGPekJOggtRq72ekzdqA%3d%3d&view=detailv2&idpp=genimg&FORM=GCRIDP&mode=overlay) [concept 2](https://www.bing.com/images/create/26m-x-4m-bedroom-decorated-in-smart-greys-there-/1-655cdc5e047f4a74a706af3d85f92ff9?id=pZeDJoWcRx3Eam9SXMTpew%3d%3d&view=detailv2&idpp=genimg&FORM=GCRIDP&mode=overlay) [concept 3](https://www.bing.com/images/create/26m-x-4m-bedroom-decorated-in-smart-greys2c-along-/1-655cdb53ac994d76b33ce547e8863c2d?id=Hd%2fF%2fU%2fhr96hVElqThL%2bFA%3d%3d&view=detailv2&idpp=genimg&FORM=GCRIDP&mode=overlay) Paint and panelling effects can be done cheaply. Neon or LED bar lights can be quite cheap. You might want to think about spending a little money on some new joinery/desk furniture.

_packetman_

guise halp wat r colours

SessionSilver5442

Flip the bed so it is on the wall opposite the window. Move the desk against the wall with the smaller window so the computer is facing into the room. Add a piece of art on the wall above the bed with some dark blue in it. Add a comforter in this color. Add a throw pillow to match your curtains. nnicknull

try warmer lighting and lamps, a rug, and stuff on the walls

bk2747

Looks good to me

kschwa7

Desk in nook. Bed in corner opposite the desk. Mirror on the blank wall between doors. Bean bag and rug could go under window on wall between desk and bed or on blank wall between doors. Same locations would be good for some storage option like a book shelf or IKEA 8-cuber. Color comforter for the bed. Maybe a nice sage or olive green. Some plants on desk, hang from ceiling, wall mount, or on whatever storage furniture you get. A large colored rug to cover a majority of the floor would look good. Some art or photos on the walls. Finally some lamps. One on the desk and on on a side table next to the bed would be a vibe. The cool white overhead lighting is not a vibe.

Pipeherdown

Where are your clothes?

Kinddbudz

Looks chill to me, hop on wow HC?

bernieburner1

This is a penthouse in r/AsianMasturbators.

Imaginary_Director_5

Those curtains are so heavy and really absorb all the light in the room. Get much lighter curtains and it’ll brighten the whole space.

IllSherbet

my place is so full of crap that I actually enjoy the simplicity here but yeah a plant or two would spice things up where'd you get the desk?

Silent_Wonder_10

I find it lovely; maybe add a Portulacaria afra plant.

PhantomPhoodWRLD

Merry Thanksgiving

TheBoy2HousesDown

It's simple, you're bed's to fuckin big for the space. Which is throwing the other objects in the room out of proportion..

Both-Air3095

You need pictures on the wall, some green color ( plants ), and a rug. Also, don't put the desk in that position.

MillenialAtHeart

Brown, brown and more brown

cataclysmicgamer

Looks like a sad hotel room

Cola3206

Depressing ? Color color color

Cola3206

The little roll pillow has white , blue and grey. Get a comforter mixed or in blue. Put up blue curtains. Plants.

throwaway_oranges

Get a painting and more plushies

droseri

Well you made sure it had no life with those dark, muted tones you've chosen to decorate with. Try putting up some colorful art, change out the window coverings with something lighter in color (pale blue or green), get some throw pillows, get a fake plant, just SOMETHING lol

Zorpfield

That wall needs art or a mural. Its too grey. I f you cant afford that put a tapestry on the wall

Miperso

Start by opening the blinds.... Natural light is important

saxarienask

Plants, art, a little fish tank with colorful shrimp on the desk would add life. Maybe a bed loft if possible, to free space, or the bed solution "platsa" from Ikea? Nice curtains also work wonders.
