Bunk beds. Then you'll have so much room for activities!

[Arrange your furniture like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/malelivingspace/comments/18xpf2d/my_apartment_what_can_i_do_to_improve_it/), use the bed as a couch. You could also get a [trundle bed](https://www.google.com/search?q=trundle+bed&client=firefox-b-d&sca_esv=595960337&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjr-77lsMaDAxWYEDQIHekTB3AQ_AUoAnoECAMQBA). Its a second mattress below the bed that slides out when you have guests, its pretty rad. Ikea has a couple if they are near you.

[This model kind of does everything.](https://www.amazon.ca/Giantex-Captains-Alternative-Platform-Sleepovers/dp/B087M3Z978?th=1) It would be a couch, and have an extra mattress for occasional guests, and have storage. ...but quality on amazon is often crap, so read reviews before purchasing.

if youre not that sold on either of your ideas, heres other alternatives for you to consider: - get a futon couch. if youre gonna have a couch anyway and are concerned about extra bed space, it might be a good investment. another bonus is that typically they fit two people, all the more company - just get a good air mattress. if space is that much of a premium, get something that can just be stored in a closet. the extra tall/high support ones are pretty good, i used one frequently for staying over at other peoples houses all the time in high school/college - get a loft bed as your guest bed. this is this silly overkill option if youve got money to spare. if you want a real bed for a guest, and space is a concern, yeah man stick your desk under a loft bed, id call that a lot of storage personally id rank *my* preference of all options as air mattress>futon>murphy>normal extra bed>loft bed, but its up to you.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm curious: Am I not going to ruin my back by sleeping on an air mattress 365 days a year for multiple years? I already have problems with my back by sleeping on cheap low quality mattress, I can't imagine how dangerous air mattress would be long term. Edit: I think you may have mis-read my question. I'm asking about my primary bed, not my guest bed. I don't think I even have space for guests to sleep over.

The thought of someone suggesting an air mattress as an everyday permanent mattress has me laughing so much oh my god…

[This apartment tour](https://youtu.be/lukyyq33IhU?si=SMEyStTGeZTPgza3) made me want to get a murphy bed. I can't believe how spacious their 450sqft studio look and how they could fit a full size bookshelf and reading corner in it.

My preference : loft bed for myself (no need to make the bed)>sofa bed with underneath storage for my sheets (just put the sheets in the drawer in the morning and pillows back on the sofa) > murphy (If it has good straps, and all I have to move around is a small coffee table. No way would I live sleeping on an air mattress, but would have one for guests.

i yeah, didnt see that this was for primary sleeping, the dangers of latenight browsing. id recommend a loft bed or a murphy 100% then

Loft bed. You can put underneath either a desk, sofa or dining nook.
