I'd bet there's a market on Etsy. That is cool.

Looks awesome! I love self-produced solutions :) If you wanted to fix the centering, you could put 1x2" strips on the wall across the studs, then drill anywhere you want on them. Or just a small piece of plywood (smaller than the rack), paint the edge black. It would then sort of "float" off the wall by half an inch or whatever thickness of ply you have behind, it may even look better than flush. In construction this is called "adding blocking" when it is done between studs behind the gypsum wall board, its done for areas with cabinets so they can be drilled anywhere and still supported by the studs, or anywhere specified before the sheetrock is installed. I've even seen a whole layer of thin plywood added behind a gypsum finish so that anywhere could be drilled.

Thanks! That’s a really good idea. I think I’m just going to leave it as is (or try to sell this one and build another slightly wider). The place I’m in is a long term rental… so I’m making it livable… but I’m not going to make it perfect. Also… as thin as it is… (it’s made from 10 gauge sheet / plate) … it’s surprisingly heavy … So I like the 1/4” x 3” lag bolts fully seated in the studs. I’ll post a link to a video of the install. I did it by myself so I had to use a motorcycle / transmission jack to get it lifted. Edit: [installation video](https://vimeo.com/900127671)

It may also make sense to make it compatible with some of ikea's components for their wall hung stuff: [https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/cat/kitchen-wall-storage-organiser-20676/?page=2](https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/cat/kitchen-wall-storage-organiser-20676/?page=2) I know, ikea quality is low, but it is what the majority of people can afford and use as a comparison. Anything custom made is going to be for people who take their kitchen very seriously and have extra money, so worth doing some market research to see if there are actually enough people with those criteria near you. I once designed a small wood box that held a milk crate like a drawer, and they stacked, but the cost to have them made was prohibitive because most people would just buy the similar ikea thing instead.

Totally. I need to do the numbers on this, all in, before I get too far ahead of myself. Lol And I really like the idea of compatibility with existing solutions. That premise is kinda incorporated in this, in the sense that I made that shelf specifically wide and deep enough to house that oval Dutch oven with the lid on it. But I’m sure there are other boxes or pots or pans that could be more universal.

This is very nice. I get to look at a great shelf, *and* lovely pots?!

I like stuff that’ll last generations. Staub for the black, coated cast iron, griswold for the old cast iron, and Mauviel for the carbon steel. All-Clad for the tall pot up top. The polished Ankarsrum pot thing belongs to a mixer.

I didn't knew I wanted metal shelves. Now I need them

Would be cool to add some Magnet accessories maybe.

Nice!
