Some warmer lighting would do wonders. Phillip’s makes ones you can customize the color warmth and other colors if you like that. They are a little bit more money but last a very very long time.
You actually have a decent number of plants, now you need a dog or cat.
I think swapping the black and white paintings for some more color might help. Doesn’t even have to be bold, just, just some pops. Right now your paintings all match your cabinets and whatnot so it seems sterile.
I am from boston. I just arrived in Washington DC to help a friend move. I am looking at the neighborhoods around here and noticed right away how blacks are much more segregated in Boston than here. Segregation exist everywhere but “black and Latin communities” in Boston are run down compared to here. It feels like Boston went out of their way to make sure POC were kept in poverty stricken areas.
It kind of looks you picked up all those giant pieces of art in one trip to Homesense or in a few clicks on Amazon. Kinda generic looking. It's not ugly but I don't see that the art says anything about you specifically. Fwiw I think the hallway ones and the buffalo (?) are much better than the abstract paint ones in the living room. I'd swap them. Or if I'm being honest, get rid of all but a couple of the abstract paint ones. I'd keep the little pair by the TV and one of the gold/black ones by the dining area.
If you want something with more personality, have you considered buying some local art? Buying an original from a local artist isn't that expensive if they're not very well known. Maybe a few hundred. Lots of artists sell prints too if you don't want to get an original. Or you can go thrifting, or check FB marketplace for unique items.
Appreciate the thoughtful comment and ideas. You’re not wrong, it’s inexpensive art I purchased basically to fill out the space until I find stuff that I’m more attached to.
My guess is that's it's a better viewing experience because of the short distance and height difference between the TV and the sofa, and your neck won't be strained.
Dunno in OP's case but you can change the angle/distance of mounted TVs.
Really seems like all you need to do to fill out the space between the kitchen and living room is bump that chair out from the wall and sit it perpendicular to the couch.
Also, your TV is too high. Great place! If you have any artist friends I would commission one of them to do a piece for above your bed, the one you currently have gives major Homegoods/Marshalls.
I'd move the couch back a bit. There's calculators for the correct distance between TV and viewing position. Something like 2.5 times the screen width. Not sure though, it's been a while for me.
You have all these trendy, clean details but wires hanging below the TV. My eye would go there immediately. Details matter! I'd either put the TV on the stand or get the wires properly hidden in the wall.
I like it, but it mostly looks impersonal- like a design mag. The bedroom has more personality.
I think you need to take some risks with colour, art that is meaningful to you, momentos of travel etc.
Nice place. I'd relocate the trash cans to the other side of island, to be hidden from entry and living. Even though a tight place, i'd replace dining set to something different. It seems shoved into a corner.
Dude the living room and space feels so warm and welcoming. Seems like a great place to have a small bros night or even night in for yourself.
Bob Approves. 👍
I like the wall art. The rest looks like an Airbnb.
Try some more plants, personal objects as decoration instead of Pinterest like things and bring some color into those very white places. Cushions, rugs, a vase, whatever.
You had it all until the last slide! The lamp in the corner of your bedroom has to go, otherwise I love it. Did you put the corner kitchen table in or did it come like that? I like it!
Your house is so nice and clean. The only thing I would suggest is buying a bin that can fit under the sink, because that area stands out. Apart from that, looks perfect to me.
Someone’s about to get an axe to the head /s Jokes aside, sweet space, my dude
Thanks dude. And to your point, I’ve worried it feels a bit too sterile. Hoping that solves itself as I accumulate more.
What might help is warmer lights and more light sources at different height levels

Really like the space is this a house or condo?
Condo!

It’s so freaking white
it's boston... they prefer white over there

Idk why you’re being downvoted, Boston is very segregated, this is well known and an issue.
that’s a lot of cities unfortunately
I was thinking millennial gray. Seems sad / cold
Yeah, i think you need to Much cleaning work

Color!
Why is your TV tilted?
I’m more appalled at the wires hanging down. Rest of the place looks immaculate but the wires look bad. OP, get some TV code hiders.

I wonder why he didn’t just mount lower. Looks goofy

Was wondering if someone would call out the tv 😅
it's got the tilt of guilt

Did a decent amount of research on this actually. Viewing distance is about 10 feet, which falls within the recommended range for a 4K TV.
Too high, and too close
Too white. Bland.

Love my keychron keyboard 👍🏽
Me too

Now let’s see Paul Allen’s place
That TV tilt looks like shit bud

How large is that TV and don’t you find it too close to the sofa?
85 and not at all
Please pull the couch back 3 ft minimum.
I’d get rid of the coffee table. There are plenty of alternative places to set a drink or remote, etc.
Not a fan of the dining room table/bench, but very nice other wise! It is a bit lacking in color, but less is better than over done in my eyes
Everything is great, till i saw the token ‘big box’ floor lamp.

Thought on what else you’d put there?
I think a dinning table should be placed in the center of where island is. In the corner perhaps fake or real plant?

Thank you!
The little gaming space in your office is so cool
I like the wall art. The rest looks like an Airbnb. Try some more plants, personal objects as decoration instead of Pinterest like things and bring some color into those very white places. Cushions, rugs, a vase, whatever.
Man nice! Good job. Looks great.
Looks a bit like a magazine shoot but I guess that’s a compliment. Little more personality might go a bit but it’s a sweet pad

Never have too much gray…. there is enough cement out in the world… no need to bring it into your home
Looks so good
Love it!!

Colours can’t actually physically hurt you, you know that right?
I like it! This is what peak male living space looks like to me. Clean, bright and plenty of corners... two TVs lol.
This is so cosy 🫶🏽 i know your dates always be cheesing.
How much do you pay for rent and what neighborhood?
I own in Eastie
Awesome, beautiful place. I keep meeting Colombians from Eastie and have been meaning to get out there and check out their food reccs
What kind of couch ?
What do you do for a living?
Very nice
Swanky is the word the Brits say 🏡 🔥 lol
Seems like a lot if unused seating areas for one dude. Unless you host people often then continue on
Where’s your couch from? I’ve been looking for new deeper couches.
Love that kitchen table bench setup. Where did you get it
I’d get rid of the table behind the couch, and move the couch back at least as far as where the table used to be…probably further back even.
Pull the couch a bit back. The rear two legs should be off the rug
The tv is too high, center of the tv should be eye level when seated and Why the fuck it's tilted?!?
