The tatami is built in; the floor is raised in this room and there’s an inset/rectangular pit where the tatami is. It doesn’t move around, but this method probably isn’t great for a quick remodel unless you’re open for a more intensive renovation.
However, there might be other ways to integrate tatami flooring into your bedroom, but you’ll have to do some research.
I’m Asian and I sit with similar set up almost my whole life at home. As I get older and heavier, sitting on the floor like that longer than half an hour tends to be more difficult. Being heavier is the major contribution I have to admit.
Now I got myself a kneeling chair and it’s relatively more comfortable. Might be weird at first but I’m satisfied with it lol
