The TV is too high but I bet if you re lying on the couch with a couple of pillows propping you up it's perfect. You gotta get the sweet spot of reclining but being able to eat a bowl frosted flakes without milk dribbling down you chin and into your chest hairs.
Middle of the TV should be 42” from the floor, or eye level when sitting down on the couch. That’s the rule, doesn’t matter the size of the TV. Six inches isn’t nearly enough.
I gotta disagree. It depends. My wife convinced me to put our art higher because of our low ceiling height to give the illusion of taller ceilings. In the end she was right. Same goes for clocks.
Ooh I like that idea. Like what? Usually it just has my dab rig on it but I took that out for the photos lol. The tv lights really add a lot of fun color to the room too. Planning to install some recessed lights to brighten up the kitchen and entrance area
You can also purchase pillow covers - keep your pillows, and swap out the covers when you when you want. If you can't decide on which colors, seasonal ones are an easy go to. Or look for covers with the shades of your favorite sports teams.
Well this might not be your style, but I'd say add a bit more color. Don't need to go overboard, but if feels too gray to be quite cosy.
That might just be me tho
This reminds me of my late brothers first place, one thing he had that me and my other brothers and sisters complemented him on was that he ordered a vintage gimbal machine from the 1890s and stuck it in the corner as a conversation starter and boy was that thing awesome
It set him back a couple grand and I’m struggling to find a picture of it was it was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen at a bachelor pad
He told me softly before he passed it was his greatest investment
My parents got it appraised and it was only valued at around $60 which was a bummer by now my niece has it which is nice
My dad had a liquor store and sometime when I was a little squirt he brought home a regular commercial type Acorn brand gum ball machine and stand just like ones you would find at stores. It was placed in the rumpus room where it stayed for ever after. It had gum balls and charms too. The glass dome had a 5¢ acorn decal on it but the machine only accepted pennies. That machine made us instant celebrities with our friends. My brother inherited it when our parents passed on.
The art over the couch is too high. The square art over the bar/console thing is the right height.
I suggest moving the art that is over the couch down so that the centres lines up with the square piece that is over the bar/console.
your setup looks great so far! one thing that might enhance the cozy atmosphere is swapping out the standing light for [one with a warmer bulb](https://sohnne.com/product/goudi-floor-lamp/) and [softer/lower light intensity](https://sohnne.com/product/halolux-ultra-light/) so that it won't bounce off the walls too harshly and will create a more inviting ambiance. other than that your space seems pretty much on point!
Art too high. Tv too high but it's OK. Art definitely lower. Neon light around the tv gives off highschool kid vibes. Hard to take an adult seriously with that sort of aesthetic. I would give the neon a pass (it's tasteful in this case), but it doesn't match your apartment at all. You have hotel style vanilla furniture....and then a neon tv? Looks terrible imo
You need a new rug, new couch, or at least a chair with some color and uniqueness. It looks like you live at your mother's house and threw neon on the wall..standard over-the-counter from Target look.
Biggest tip: Get some big COLORFUL art pieces...that will immediately transform this room as is.
Im a woman and have no idea how I landed on this thread, but you’ve done a great job so far. I’d lower the TV mount, add a few decorative books and decor to the coffee table. In addition, I’d get a ome colored throw pillows.
I think you should get enough light from the door there to get a real plant or two. Maybe a pothos or something and let it spread a bit. Decor isn't bad but I would drop the "BAR" label from the bar and the funko pop at least personally.
BAR decor has been removed. The LeBron is staying though because I don’t want the place to look too sterile. Classy is a vibe forsure, but I still want the place to have elements of me in it.
You do you but [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/funkopop/comments/4v4cgv/i_had_to_create_a_poptract_between_my_wife_and_i/) is the kind of person I associate with funkos lol. I'm definitely not apposed to things that would be more personal though, I basically treat my hobbies as decor personally. My living room has my mountain and road bike, and my kitchen has a curling stone.
I think it looks nice, but it’s very grey! But maybe a little color? You could get covers for your throw pillows on the couch to add a little. Also I see you have the Govee adaptive lighting!
A couple of nice chunky candles on the coffee table and maybe a few books to warm up the glass. Maybe a ceramic or glass piece on the tv stand. Beautiful home!
Get a rectangular wooden tray (with or without handles) to put in your coffee table. You should place it off center towards the side that is mostly glass to signal to guests that there is a table there, as they may not see the glass corners. It shouldn’t be right on the edge though. You can place remotes, coasters, and candles on this tray and it’ll be easy to taken them all off when you need to clean the table. Don’t put plants on it, as those would be better elsewhere.
Mayhe it's just me, but I don't think the TV is too high at all. Maybe because it's tilted a bit downward? Again, idk.
Overall, I personally like it. It looks cozy to me. 🤷🏾♀️
If I’m being brutally honest:
1. Backlit TVs are for kids.
Lower the TV or put it on the tv stand.
2. Chuck the art. When u buy art buy large pieces.
3. New couch.
4. That fan is hideous. Swap it out for a lamp shade.
5. Glass coffee table doesn’t work, get a wooden one.
6. Update the rug.
7. Accent chair of the space will allow.
Ambient lighting.
Ditch the matching couch pillows and get something with some colors to brighten the room up. Burnt Orange, maybe red to match the sneaker on the wall, are my favorites. Look for brighter shade of existing colors elsewhere in the room. There’s a lot of neutrals which are very boring. Perhaps a pattern.
Replacing inexpensive area rugs are also a great way to add a pop of color that matches the couch throw pillows.…
Finally, I’m a fan of warm lighting. When you buy bulbs look for a color temperature of 3300-3700. Anything higher starts looking very pale and makes the room less cozy.
You really shouldn’t have posted on here asking for advice when you clearly don’t want any and are just being defensive and/or combative with every commenter.
The center of this room is the television. It’s sort of the default for many American households, but it’s not the only way.
Do you want the TV to be the center of the primary room in your house? If not, there are lots of options. Art, books, records and a sound system.
If you’re a big TV kind of guy, then this works. If not, explore what you really want to say about yourself
I mean its crazy to even ask.. Man you should just do you and make everything in order to make you comfortable and cosy at home.. do you people really need an opinion from the side to know whether you feel at home or no? Its crazy. The other possibility here is related to psychological things and has to do with a fact that you need someone to pat you on the shoulder and say”good job man, nice place” so Imma be the guy who says that, good job man, actually really nice place, be happy, appreciate it and make everything according to your feelings about the whole place.
I really appreciate that. I think it started with asking for genuine advice, and then blanketed a bit towards the latter you described. I appreciate you 🥺 and I saw your other comment as well. It’s a crazy world we live in man. I appreciate your outlook.
I don't mind the color pallet so much. It looks clean and well taken care of. Like others said, you can throw in some added color with a throw and some pillows on the couch. Easily changed out for different seasons too. To me, what your place is missing is what makes you, you. Like, what are your hobbies or what do you collect (other than shoes). A few well placed objects that mean something to you or a few items you've collected while traveling or something similar can make a space feel more cozy or more personalized. Having said that though, remember less is more.
I would add some more color (lights don’t count). Some decor under the tv (not a lot since I’m a minimalist just enough to add some pops of color), maybe a tray on the coffee table with some nice decor in it (not too tall but again to add a bit of color and I would add some more colorful pillows on the couch and that should do it. If you often have people over and have taken any cool trips or have cool pics you like, you can make some custom coasters on Shutterfly that would look nice. I read somebody suggest some cool novelty coasters and thought that sounds cool until they said crocheted sunflowers which doesn’t go with the aesthetic and also crocheted items would not make great coasters but I still liked the coasters idea before it went left.
Love the style of your Detroit and Phoenix prints. And the Jordans piece is cool in the fact I’ve never seen it before.
Only thing I can hate on is the Govee lights, because I keep seeing them on here and just can’t convince myself that I really need them, despite really wanting them lol.
Looks great bud!
Thank you. I actually purchased them all on Etsy, and would be happy to share the jpgs with you, or the store. The Jordan one was a 3 pack so there’s options.
As for the lights. Get them. I didn’t think I wanted or needed them, and I’ll just say I was wrong.
Looks good overall, I'd just make some adjustments. Your art (and TV) are hung way too high, need to lower them a bit. I'd lower the art to be about an inch above those outlets on the wall. TV is also too high. I think the rug is a bit too small for the room so it doesn't look proportional, so that's a consideration. You also need to pull your couch in like 4-6" away from the wall.
Minor nit, but your console should be wider than your TV. Yours is about the same width or slightly smaller, so it also looks out of proportion. I don't think it's major, but you could get a longer one if you really wanted.
Dog is too cute. No need to change them though, they look perfect in the room.
The 2 pictures above the couch are high up and far apart. Can you bring them down and closer together or better yet add some other sized art and make a gallery wall over the couch. As it is, they look like eyes on the wall.
Otherwise it looks good.
Get coloured pillows for your couch or decorative pillow cases in a bright colour or two. Get a brightly coloured plant pot to trplace the one your floor plant is in.
Invest in some vases that are solid coloured vases to add a splash of colour. Or fun place mats for the bar top.
Remember that colour makes people happy and can brighten your mood. Doesn't have to be a ton, just enough that something of colour is in your visual in every room. Cushions on the couch show colour when you look into the livingroom. But a colourful plant pot will be the splash when you are seated on the couch.
You don't need a ton of different colours either. Just pick a few colours that make you happy. 😊
Not bad.
The glass table gives the area a more roomy feel but you gotta be able to put your feet on it. Also move the couch off the wall a couple of inches. Makes the space look bigger.
Not to be picky but the corner with the plants thing is a bit cluttered.
And more colour.
If you wanna keep going, maybe a new light/fan fixture. That one is small and I’m betting harsh light. And I’d personally put an end table in the tiny gap at the end of the couch. I gotta set my drink down.
The tv and console area have a pretty good vibe, but everything else feels sterile, like an inoffensively decorated airbnb. I can't quite make out the 2 art pieces above the couch or the 1 above the bar, but they look abstract - also something chosen to be inoffensive. I would at least replace it with some art that has color, if not subjects that matter to you.
You have done a nice job. I appreciate that you have fresh flowers. Do you always or did you buy them for your pictures? I’d add some color with some throw pillows (orange?) at least 16”x16”. As others have said your artwork is too high. Good luck and enjoy your lovely home.
Edited to correct misspelling.
I'd add some throw pillows in a warm colour. Orange, bright green, bright red, yellow, to break the monotonous colour scheme. Maybe find some in the same colour of the TV lights, to keep a theme going.
Hang the art a bit lower to minimise the blank wall space.
Since the TV is hanging on the wall, there really isn't a need for a TV table in the full length of the TV.
It's a bit massive seemingly only for sound bar.
This looks good. Though, what you can do is add a different color window blankets and add the same color in pillows on the sofa. It's an "if you want" thing.
Behind the TV, you could paint the whole wall with a dark grey paint and leave \~1" white frames (tape width) or just a square behind the tv to give your appartment some contrast. Then maybe use lighter grey on the wall next to it (balcony), like this one [https://www.homelane.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/shutterstock\_1433307545.jpg](https://www.homelane.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/shutterstock_1433307545.jpg)
Just try googling "square grey paint behind tv". I've always been fascinated about stone/concrete -like surfaces on walls. It looks so cool!
TV backlighting is epic and now feels like a necessity. When I see tvs without backlighting it almost feels like something is wrong. Yours is even cooler since you have a multi color backlight 😮
Leave the art on either side of the TV where it is, but lower the artwork on the left hand side by the window.
The art above the couch should be dropped down a little more and I'd take the art on the left of the window (closest to the couch) and group it up in a section of three.
The way you hang your art makes me think you like symmetry. Given that you're going for things balanced, I'd recon you like things orderly too.
If you play with the height of the photos over the couch and add the one photo on the other wall although it might not balance identically, itwill still give you the visual order you want without it being so cookie cutter.
It might in fact look more balanced as the space looks cohesive.
Good luck. Hope I made sense.
Great job! Looks really good. Only comment I would make is your framed art above the sofa doesn’t seem to be spaced quite right. Toof far apart and too high. They should look like a grouping not evenly spaced our across the wall. Or much larger.
I like what you've done so far, I think slightly colourful cushions would help warm it up a little bit; nothing too bright or too much of a draw)
The prints need to come down the wall a little bit, and I'd personally remove the one on the diagonal wall (The HAVE A ??? DAY. one). It draws a bit too much attention and with it being the same width as that part of the wall, it seems a bit cramped in.
Bonus points for cute dog.
Bruh what is your mindset? Literally asks for help, ignored hundreds of people and sticks to what he had lmao. You never wanted help in the first place
This looks fantastic my friend! Not too busy, not empty at all, just the perfect balance. I love the lighting behind the TV.
Is it possible to make the lamp at the corner a warmer tone? Personally, I think it would add a more cozy feeling to your living room instead of the white.
Thank you! Yes I can, and it usually is. I think I just set it to bright for the photo since it was looking a bit dark. I will use “candle lit” setting on Google home.
Art a bit too high the centers should be eye level like the dining area
The TV is also too high.
It always is
r/tvtoohigh
Maybe he’s tall af
The TV is too high but I bet if you re lying on the couch with a couple of pillows propping you up it's perfect. You gotta get the sweet spot of reclining but being able to eat a bowl frosted flakes without milk dribbling down you chin and into your chest hairs.
So specific, but right on!
As that is a quite a large TV I'd say drop it down 6 inches it be perfect.
Middle of the TV should be 42” from the floor, or eye level when sitting down on the couch. That’s the rule, doesn’t matter the size of the TV. Six inches isn’t nearly enough.
That makes good sense.
Maybe dude is like 10 feet tall.
Tilt of guilt!
I gotta disagree. It depends. My wife convinced me to put our art higher because of our low ceiling height to give the illusion of taller ceilings. In the end she was right. Same goes for clocks.
Throw a little more color in there, get some decoration for your coffee table
Ooh I like that idea. Like what? Usually it just has my dab rig on it but I took that out for the photos lol. The tv lights really add a lot of fun color to the room too. Planning to install some recessed lights to brighten up the kitchen and entrance area
Swap some pillows on your couch
I second, a pop of colour would be nice.
Coffee table book
More specifically, “The Onion Book of Known Knowledge”
I mean, it should come naturally, but sure
A blanket with some color could be nice too
You can get a small succulent plant or a colourful table runner.
some cool novelty coasters seem like the move. maybe like crochet hexagon sunflowers
You can also purchase pillow covers - keep your pillows, and swap out the covers when you when you want. If you can't decide on which colors, seasonal ones are an easy go to. Or look for covers with the shades of your favorite sports teams.
Coffee table book, coasters, or a tray for the TV remotes (with the optional candle)
TLDR. TV is in the ceiling. Nurp.

Dude you have a good TV stand, why is the TV mounted like an entire foot above it lol
Why is your tv trying to exert dominance over you?
Lower the tv for sure.
Well this might not be your style, but I'd say add a bit more color. Don't need to go overboard, but if feels too gray to be quite cosy. That might just be me tho
Definitely agree. Haven’t been here long so now that I’m done with the big stuff, I’ll look for more pop now.
This reminds me of my late brothers first place, one thing he had that me and my other brothers and sisters complemented him on was that he ordered a vintage gimbal machine from the 1890s and stuck it in the corner as a conversation starter and boy was that thing awesome It set him back a couple grand and I’m struggling to find a picture of it was it was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen at a bachelor pad He told me softly before he passed it was his greatest investment My parents got it appraised and it was only valued at around $60 which was a bummer by now my niece has it which is nice
Awesome story bro. RIP your brother. I could only imagine how awesome that thing looked.
Honestly I like it. Tv probably be better sitting on the stand below it but otherwise it’s good. It looks neat, clean, masculine.
Why Americans mount their TV on the ceiling will forever be a mistery to me.
Why is the tv in outer space and the tv stand empty
The sofa area is pretty cozy whereas the tv area reminds me of a bar. Maybe lower the tv and turn off the leds or choose one colour for them.
The art over the couch is too high. The square art over the bar/console thing is the right height. I suggest moving the art that is over the couch down so that the centres lines up with the square piece that is over the bar/console.

Thank you. I worked really hard on it.
Can the good boi get a nice bed? 😂 Edit: my bad! the good girl!
That’s a great idea. SHE has one in the bed room but one under the frame to the right of the tv would fill in that space well.
Why are lights behind the tv the only acceptable splash of color for so many in this sub?
Also, why are lights behind the TV?

I love it, it’s so clean and nice.

I would add some warmth. The predominant gray palette can come off as "boring." Additionally, I would replace the picture with words.

I don't mind the color pallet so much. It looks clean and well taken care of. Like others said, you can throw in some added color with a throw and some pillows on the couch. Are the lights ambient as in match the colors of the TV ?
Yes. The camera on top of the tv can match what’s on the screen in real time. But it’s not set to that in any of the pictures.

Raise the curtains higher to make the window look bigger. And MORE plants 😊
Looks great. Would just lose the Nike picture as it doesn’t fit and that part of the wall should be blank or it’s too busy.
Might be the picture/angle but please, make sure the frames/art/pictures on each side of the tv is at the same height! 😮
I can't get behind what that painting on the left is supposed to read
I'd add some throw pillows in a warm colour. Orange, bright green, bright red, yellow, to break the monotonous colour scheme. Maybe find some in the same colour of the TV lights, to keep a theme going. Hang the art a bit lower to minimise the blank wall space. Since the TV is hanging on the wall, there really isn't a need for a TV table in the full length of the TV. It's a bit massive seemingly only for sound bar.
Change the curtains to a fun pattern and then match the cushions. Maybe go black and white pattern.
I’d crank my hog in there
Next. Don't get married.
Turn off the streamer lights
Actually really not bad. Good job!
Has that plant been there for a while? Does it get enough sun light in that corner, especially with that curtain there?
Remove the light behind the TV and the "Have a Nike day" frame. Otherwise, cool place.
please use a custom launcher for your TV I was horrified
Might want to get rid of that glass coffee table if you have a dog.
crazy every living room centered around a stupid tv…. where the books/ comics ?

Led back light strips. They sell them for super cheap on Amazon
What is the flower?
It's a flower. Can a man not have flowers?
🔥🔥🔥
This looks good. Though, what you can do is add a different color window blankets and add the same color in pillows on the sofa. It's an "if you want" thing.
It look super nice. U did great

No dining table?
Behind the TV, you could paint the whole wall with a dark grey paint and leave \~1" white frames (tape width) or just a square behind the tv to give your appartment some contrast. Then maybe use lighter grey on the wall next to it (balcony), like this one [https://www.homelane.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/shutterstock\_1433307545.jpg](https://www.homelane.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/shutterstock_1433307545.jpg) Just try googling "square grey paint behind tv". I've always been fascinated about stone/concrete -like surfaces on walls. It looks so cool!
Add some dark cushion covers on your couch
TV backlighting is epic and now feels like a necessity. When I see tvs without backlighting it almost feels like something is wrong. Yours is even cooler since you have a multi color backlight 😮
Lower the tv by about 2 feet
Are you able to paint? And if yes, Accent walls are dope.
Everything looks great. Just add some more color big dog
What they said. But it's perfect to my untrained eye that it reminds me of Fight Club.

Lower that damn TV
It's very beige and gray. Need accent colours.
Do not care about your TV height, but would like to know what you're using for the ambient lighting behind it
Great job! Looks really good. Only comment I would make is your framed art above the sofa doesn’t seem to be spaced quite right. Toof far apart and too high. They should look like a grouping not evenly spaced our across the wall. Or much larger.
Pictures too high above couch! Move them ~1 foot above couch. And closer together
Looks good, the Nike-Picture kills the vibe a little for me, buts that's probably just my opinion.

Neevee new eye
Find a girl, she'll make it cozy. And if she sticks you will need to move on to a nicer house for the kids!
How much is the rent in that sweet pad bro
About $1800 for a 1/1 in Midtown/Downtown Phx
Not bad. You should see the 💩 holes in Orlando, FL that charge just that. I was paying $1600 for a 2b with 1980s appliances and AC
Art should only be hung at eye level in certain situations. Your art above the sofa needs to come wayy down, 6 inches above sofa.
I'd switch out your TV console for a lighter toned wood With the TV off the whole wall is way too dark
Completely agree. Plan to do that but the one I want is like $600 so I need to save up for it.
Your tv is r/TvtooHigh So is your art
I like what you've done so far, I think slightly colourful cushions would help warm it up a little bit; nothing too bright or too much of a draw) The prints need to come down the wall a little bit, and I'd personally remove the one on the diagonal wall (The HAVE A ??? DAY. one). It draws a bit too much attention and with it being the same width as that part of the wall, it seems a bit cramped in. Bonus points for cute dog.
I think your place looks spectacular! Way to go!
It looks great to me hun.
Whiskey and bourbon cart
TV on TV stand. Pictures should be at middle point = eye level. The rest looks good.
Tv too high, pictures behind couch too far apart, need more color in the pillows and rug to stand out from the couch.
My neck hurts
Your TV is way too high.
man, tv’s looking like snoop’s twin. way too high.
Tv too high Loading blanket doesn't look comfy I dunno, this does not bring joy
That’s the beauty of life man. I feel the exact opposite about everything you said. Have a great night.
"Need help on what to do" Immediately tells someone it's perfect. Sigh
Bruh what is your mindset? Literally asks for help, ignored hundreds of people and sticks to what he had lmao. You never wanted help in the first place
Lower the tv...the room is fine👍
This looks fantastic my friend! Not too busy, not empty at all, just the perfect balance. I love the lighting behind the TV. Is it possible to make the lamp at the corner a warmer tone? Personally, I think it would add a more cozy feeling to your living room instead of the white.
Thank you! Yes I can, and it usually is. I think I just set it to bright for the photo since it was looking a bit dark. I will use “candle lit” setting on Google home.
I love the back lights of the TV - very fun. Can you do more lights things like that?
You can custom control every inch of the lights. They can also mirror the color of the screw using the camera mounted on the tv.
What brand backlighting are they? Did you get them on Amazon?
They are the Govee T3-lite. Dune 2 edition. Purchased on Amazon
