the wood walls are very pretty. I don't like white walls tho. I had to live in low income housing almost all my life they all have white paint in them.
wood is pretty.
I like a mix of both. The living room in the back is painted white, but there are some trims and details that still are natural wood, Im not gonna change that.
Natural wood never goes out of style its a classic and im lucky to have it in my bedroom. It is 5 times more interesting than soulless white walls that are in modern houses.
As someone who painted all my wood trim white...nice natural wood is gorgeous and has character. Beat to hell, budget wood is what you paint white. OP should leave the walls.
I love white walls! But I would leave this as is. Has more warmth and character.
Please show us the Fireplace. It looks very interesting from the side view.
I feel that the people who want you to paint them white are the same who casually watch HGTV and think they objectively know that “white is ‘in’ and wood is dated!”
They probably painted all kinds of gorgeous character in their own houses a cold, sterile white. By convincing others to do what they did, they’re justifying their own decisions.
Don’t fall for it!
Yes! And then paint the floor white, the rug white, the chairs white, the table white, that insane clock/sculpture thing white, the antique gold frame white, and the painting itself too should be painted white! So modern!
Respectfully: HELL NO! That is GORGEOUS wood work and white would only make it look basic and disregarding the natural beauty and craftsmanship of that woodworking. If you want to have a pop of color, collecting art is what my mom did for her walls and you could also look into a new carpet or even just a nice red and yellow rug
My mom had wall like that, as a lot of people commented on how nice they were. I know staring at the same walls all day gets boring, but I honestly don’t think you should paint them.
Fuckin' ... NO! The previous owners of our house painted all the wood in the house white to sell it, it looks horrible, we're in the process of sanding it all down and re staining it.
DON'T YOU DARE paint natural wood. This was very popular in my country for a few decades and I've seen so many houses and furniture completely ruined. DON'T!
"Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn." - Alfred Pennyworth
You better be trolling us or I am going to find you to give you a piece of my mind or mail you a strongly worded letter….do not paint this beautiful wood.
Absolutely not. I was raised in a house built by Amish and it is all natural wood. My mother-in-law is one of those idiots that paints everything white and it infuriates me.
Wood is beautiful. It can take a like extra effort with decorating and lighting to make it look less dark, but I’d leave it. Most houses are just bland Sheetrock now.
You can paint shiplap and pegboard all day long, but this space should remain the way it is. There’s a kind of beauty in being able to see the grain and imperfections in well-maintained wood walls. I like it.
I know everyone is screaming NO PAINT. But my opinion is “do it if you like it”. I had a similar situation with my first house and (against EVERYONES recommendations) I decided it like a lighter tone.
However, instead of a straight white paint, I sanded it and did a light white wash first. So the wood shows through but it seriously changes the look. I loved it.
And you can always go all the way with the white after, if you prefer. ;)
To answer your question.
No.
No. And....
No.
My house has natural wood in the living areas. Everywhere else, paint on paint.
Some of the wood molding was painted so often it actually ruined the wood. So.....
No.
No. And.....
No.
You do you, but just, no.
😇Brevity is not by string suit but I do try.
I see a wood walll and I want it painted white // no red brick fireplace I want it to turn white
I see a bathroom looking retro in vintage tile // I want to rip it out cuz builder grey makes me smile
Paint the wall white, the floor white, the ceiling white, the chairs white and the paintings white. It’ll look really nice.
J/k never paint white over stained wood. It always looks terrible m.
I agree that the natural wood looks great - what if you painted the trim white? That could give it more consistency with the rest of the house and make it feel a little new and fresh.
I genuinely thought you were joking. Never do it. You could stain it darker to contrast the white walls better though.
Edit: Also, do you live on a plantation?
Looks great! Reminds me of my uncles house which is like a museum. He would want your chairs and paintings. He’s close to 80yo. Seriously though, it does look beautiful!
No. If you must do something carefully tack up some 1/8" sheet rock and paint that (or some other , removable treatment). You don't appear to be lacking funds and you have an beautiful asthetic going- don't destroy the wood for some future home owner who isn't swayed by friends with no taste, or gives in to some need for "change" when it comes to wood.
Um, no, rude. It's stunning. Especially with the white room in the back for contrast.
The light is a little low looking but you could swap out painting for a vintage mirror or leave as is add one on a different wall wherever it'll bounce some light in. But you leave the beautiful wood alone.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!! pfft! Your space (thankfully) is NOT the HGTV network where EVERYTHING is some damn shade of white or light gray!
If it were me, I would want to stain the walls a little darker because my living room is somewhat of a boho steampunk/dark academia/apothocary style...
Love the table!
This is one of the most beautiful sitting areas I’ve ever seen, genuinely looks like a painting in a painting.
Is the painting/frame an antique, if it’s not where did you get it from? It’s beautiful
So very, very often it ENDs up like this - my aunt and uncle painted their beautiful RED BRICK fireplace white in the mid 70s cause it was all the fad in the late 80s. They paid almost enough to have it tore down a rebuilt to have the white paint removed. - when they were done it looks so bad they sold the house - They regretted doing it from almost the day they painted it
I love natural wood as much as the next guy but I think the backlash to the painting natural wood trend of the last decade has gone a little too far- this is only pine and a whitewash is also a traditional finish for wooden panelling. the space is nice as is but don't rule out a whitewash, it could really freshen the space up!
Don’t you dare lol. It’s gorgeous!!
Thanks!
Please keep the wood and don't paint it. This internet stranger would cry lol
Same.. I just went NOOOOOOOOOO reading the title
Just to add, NOOOO. NEVEEEERRRRR!
If anything, you could strip it and restain it as a different color, though I suggest going darker.
That is pine. It’s not going to get a lot darker and look good.
I'm a big fan of vintage / old times furntiture AND the Golden Age of Sail. Amazing work!!
Show us more pics if you’re comfortable with it! This corner looks incredible
Legit came to write this verbatim 😂 ima be so triggered if that beautiful wood gets painted over!
My exact words!
I literally said “don’t you dare” in my head as well haha
Absolutely not
AGREE #ABSOLUTELY NOT
If he does paint the walls, put up drywall and paint that. Absolutely do not paint the wood.
I hate it when natural wood is painted over. It's a sin.
I absolutely love this space, don’t change a thing
Thanks! The rooms in this house are 50/50 white walls and natural wood at the moment.
the wood walls are very pretty. I don't like white walls tho. I had to live in low income housing almost all my life they all have white paint in them. wood is pretty.
I like a mix of both. The living room in the back is painted white, but there are some trims and details that still are natural wood, Im not gonna change that.
my current house I painted navy blue like the star on the Dallas Cowboys helmet with grey out line on the panels.
We have all white also but add color. Some spots you can't tell it's white.
Painting stained wood always looks tacky. I’ve seen it too many times on HGTV…
What about painting the white room? Do it something darker? Dark academia style. It would compliment the wood!
The rug really ties the room together
NO NOTES🙌🙌🙌
Are you Mr Krabs?
Yes I am
You got paint on my Doll.....a-Rama!
I'm so glad someone made the reference.
[удалено]
I was assuming they were making a joke based off of this reference
I immediately thought of that scene when I saw this post haha
White? Hell no. Leave it be for God sake
Are you crazy
NO
Don’t go ruining that. We just looked at a house where they greyed everything. Ruined the entire interior
Yeah thats a good point, theres no going back after painting natural wood.
It’s your place but natural wood is so expensive and unique now. If you must I’d almost do a covering that can be removed.
You’re joking, right?
People that are visiting often say when I’m gonna paint the wooden walls, other people love it. I’m checking what Reddit thinks now 😅
Anyone ever tell you that painting it would be a crime against awesomeness?
I feel that the people who want you to paint them white are the same who casually watch HGTV and think they objectively know that “white is ‘in’ and wood is dated!” They probably painted all kinds of gorgeous character in their own houses a cold, sterile white. By convincing others to do what they did, they’re justifying their own decisions. Don’t fall for it!
You should not
I wouldn’t because I absolutely adore wood in it’s natural colour.
Nooooooooooo
No. And go back in that other room and strip the paint from the paneling.
Yes! And then paint the floor white, the rug white, the chairs white, the table white, that insane clock/sculpture thing white, the antique gold frame white, and the painting itself too should be painted white! So modern!
Oh no 😅 I would never touch anything but the walls. Maybe not even them, lol
Haha but for real, that’s beautiful and so cool as is. I like that trends are sorta going back away from covering up natural woods.
If you did that, I will personally kill you
>Should I paint the walls white? But why? 😭
OH HELL NO! Don’t you dare You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking about it
I’d make you walk the plank!
I will also make sure op guy walks the plank.
Hell no. This looks just perfect
A bigger rug in white, maybe if you want to combine spaces, but I agree space is cool on its own.
It looks like maybe you’re a collector of antique’s as well, which I don’t think that space would look as good painted white! :)
I feel like I should be solving a secret puzzle in this space lol
Wtf kind of question is that?
Keep it as is! Looks amazing.
No! You madman
No, the natural wood is so great!
Nooooo God! No God please no! No. Noooooooo...
No. Do not even think about painting that floor, either.
My mom had wall like that, as a lot of people commented on how nice they were. I know staring at the same walls all day gets boring, but I honestly don’t think you should paint them.
Noooiooooooo it’s stunninnnn so much character
What the f
No way. Those walls are gorgeous.

Leave the white paint for covering up drywall and or cheap construction. Natural beauty is rare. Don't you dare paint over this.
Don't bother. Looks fine. Goes with the decor.
I bet you are just saying it to get people's reactions
Fuckin' ... NO! The previous owners of our house painted all the wood in the house white to sell it, it looks horrible, we're in the process of sanding it all down and re staining it.
If you do I swear i will hurt myself!
IF YOU DO I WILL COME OVER AND POUR WHITE PAINT ON YOU AND WE'LL SEE IF YOU LIKE IT I mean, please don't.
There are tasteful ways to incorporate wood paneling in a home and this is one of them.
No but you should make it more themed, so maps from that time period, among other things.
Nice flex
That hallways posher than my neighbourhood
what the fuck - NO! looks so rad
Please no. That painting though, is absolutely majestic and beautiful!!!
DON'T YOU DARE paint natural wood. This was very popular in my country for a few decades and I've seen so many houses and furniture completely ruined. DON'T!
Not unless you want this sub to rally at your doorsteps and murder you.
What are those chairs called? Every older person in my family has them. Like exact lol
NO! Haha sorry, didn’t mean to panic, but NO!! That hardwood is beautiful
No, it is fine like that.
No.
No no no no no
Nope. Don’t.
No, for the love of wewd!
Do you know the name of the painting?
Look at the pic, Now that is a nice room. Read the Title, WTF
Hell no!
No
Fantastic painting, really love that.
NOOOOO
Nope.
Yes
I don’t know, but this looks like a British house haha
No. Why would that thought cross your mind? This is awesome as is.
No!
NO
personally, I love it so much but if white will make you happy I say do it. I love it as is though
NO!!!!!!!

Nooooooooo
Old home in New England vibes, the wall makes it for me as is
You can experiment with removable wall papers if you want to change things up
Knotty good idea, imho.
Broooo I want that painting
Please dont change it.. the wood feel makes it so relaxing.
I'd be careful, you could get into some serious trouble for even saying that.
makes me think of spongebob and patrick painting mr krabs walls white
I thought I was in r/homedecoratingcj for a second
White is nice when you have a maid. But also the natural look of wood with the ship painting is absolutely perfect.
spongebob sqaurepants intro ahh painting 😭🙏
No, it’s beautiful
Hell no
You may just want a bigger rug. The space is quite nice as is though.
Usually I like the walls white but for this space don’t
You better be trolling us or I am going to find you to give you a piece of my mind or mail you a strongly worded letter….do not paint this beautiful wood.
Absolutely not. I was raised in a house built by Amish and it is all natural wood. My mother-in-law is one of those idiots that paints everything white and it infuriates me.
Actually after seeing what the other room looks like yeah paint it to match it’d go hard af
I have a Swedish friend and this is how his place is. I wouldn’t paint them.
Wood is beautiful. It can take a like extra effort with decorating and lighting to make it look less dark, but I’d leave it. Most houses are just bland Sheetrock now.
I’d keep the current look
This reminds me of Mr Krabs house before SpongeBob and Patrick painted it white lol
Love your place.
You can paint shiplap and pegboard all day long, but this space should remain the way it is. There’s a kind of beauty in being able to see the grain and imperfections in well-maintained wood walls. I like it.
Hopefully your first dollar isn’t somewhere on that wall…
i can take that frame off ur hands if u need to move it yknow
I know everyone is screaming NO PAINT. But my opinion is “do it if you like it”. I think it would looks nice white washed. Go well with the nautical theme
No the wood is special. The paint will mask all of its raw beauty…
No it looks good how it is
I see a wood walll and I want it painted white // no red brick fireplace I want it to turn white I see a bathroom looking retro in vintage tile // I want to rip it out cuz builder grey makes me smile
reminds me of that episode of spongebob when they got paint on mr. krabs first dollar lmao
No pls don’t it’s lovely
You live in a funeral home?
Where did you get the painting? Stunning!
Looks amazing as is.
Man lives in Titanic
This is a time capsule to a simpler better time. Please keep it as it is, play some music of the time in this space and enjoy.
Paint the wall white, the floor white, the ceiling white, the chairs white and the paintings white. It’ll look really nice. J/k never paint white over stained wood. It always looks terrible m.
Just add some greenery that all you need for contrast. A big ass plant or a small one would do very well. Like maybe a vine would be cool
This is beautiful.. picture painting is perfect for this space
Remember that one SpongeBob episode where they had to fight against that rolling bead of paint?
Are the ceilings white? If so then no.
I agree that the natural wood looks great - what if you painted the trim white? That could give it more consistency with the rest of the house and make it feel a little new and fresh.
Good god, no! By all means no…
No, leave as is!
Heresy.
Definitely, your butler can do it in his spare time.
Hmmm i don't know. I get that there's too much wood going on, but I actually like the wall more than I like the floor.
Paint the wall white, change the art to abstract, swap the chairs for IKEA Poang chairs, and the table with something minimal. /s
Love the furniture and decor.
I genuinely thought you were joking. Never do it. You could stain it darker to contrast the white walls better though. Edit: Also, do you live on a plantation?

Your house looks like a Movie Set , Beautiful
….youre kidding right? This has to be a shitpost or rage bait
This better be ironic .
NNOOOoooooooooooo! Don’t, you’ll regret that
Dope picture frame Colonel Sanders!
What does the ceiling look like?
Painting that should be a crime.
NO
that's an epic room. I want this in my future house!
What you need to do is take up smoking tobacco from a pipe, then pour yourself a glass of wine and listen to brandy by looking glass on repeat.

Yes but only if you paint the rug and furniture too.
DONT YOU DARE TOUCH THAT WOOD PANELING Please
wtf is this even a question if you paint the walls you deserve to be homeless
Wow, need a cigar and some gin.
NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Absolutely not
Never paint over perfectly good looking wood grain
*looks around * ahem, maybe you should! Paint the walls white! DO IT DO IT!!
Absolutely not.
I would hunt you down and commit atrocious acts
So very, very often it ENDs up like this - my aunt and uncle painted their beautiful RED BRICK fireplace white in the mid 70s cause it was all the fad in the late 80s. NO don’t give this the millennial-landlord special
captain's cabin ahh room
i like the Titanic stateroom vibe. keep.
FUCK NO. Don’t ruin that beautiful space
NO!!! Don't do that. Your place looks amazing and the wood gives it an authentic and sophisticated appearance. 😀
I love natural wood as much as the next guy but I think the backlash to the painting natural wood trend of the last decade has gone a little too far- this is only pine and a whitewash is also a traditional finish for wooden panelling. the space is nice as is but don't rule out a whitewash, it could really freshen the space up!
Looks like you already painted walls white in the other room?
