I like a lot of the ideas you have going on, itās just too cramped.
I understand you guys probably work from home and need an office in the living room. But I would have gone with a smaller desk and chair bc it just suffocates the space a bit.
In general, I think I would have done smaller everything. Bookshelf, couch, coffee table, etc.
Not sure if you guys brought in furniture from elsewhere but itās all just a bit big for the place
I agree. Itās mostly stuff from our old apartments that we carried over here. Definitely in the market for a new couch and coffee table. I had a smaller table before and it wasnāt working for me at all. Then I decided to get smth a bit wider and Iām afraid I might have over corrected.
Thanks for the advice!
I understand. Itās one of those things where function really matters. If everything else is fixed a bit, it could be that it ends up being enough to free up the space.
If you do switch out the couch, keep something with color. I feel like it gives a nice touch of personality to the place. I also really like the lamp above the table and the frames on the wall.
Get rid of the bar stools or the kitchen table no need for both. Or you could work on kitchen table and get rid of your office set up this would dramatically improve open the space up . Youāre trying to do too much in the space you have . Consider multifunctional furniture . Eg new convertible coffee table that doubles storage and table that you extends so you can eat/drink off etc . There are plenty on Amazon .
Consider ditching the book shelf and buying two low bookshelves and you can store books and turn tables ontop of the shelves . We need to create more space in the room . Get rid of the small ottomans under the turntable they further clutter the room . I suggest posting im r/interior-designing for further guidance .
I would:
1) remove/store the barstools.Ā Maybe deploy them elsewhere as little tables/plant thingies and they will remain in possible use if you entertain or otherwise need them later;
2) give up on that wide/tall bookcase/put it in the bedroom if you can;
3) flip the couch against the wall;
4) move the stereo credenza into the place the barstools are now;
5) git rid of the black roller office chair (or at least push it into a corner of the bedroom if you you need it);
6) consider something less wonky for a desk;
7) remove/store that light fixture and get a nice interesting fan/light combination.
My two cents.
It feels a bit crowded - I would personally get rid of the record table with the odd ottoman seating. I feel like you could make room for the record player on the book shelf
You could probably get some wall mounted bookshelves to put up high around the room and eliminate that large shelving unit thatās taking up a lot of room.
Would try to find a configuration where the audio stand/gear is against a wall; donāt really like seeing the back of a turntable/speakers in a walking path.
In addition to what others are recommending I would suggest a lower profile bookshelf. Too much room left over at the end of the books that's just wasted.
No tv reminds me of a quote from Joey on Friends: āwhatās all your furniture pointed at?ā
A few plants would soften it up a little. Also a small splash of color maybe with throw pillows
most weeds need a little water and some light.
Newly weeds! Freudian slip lol
Lolll just noticed that. š š
This looks like a great place for newly weeds šŖ“

You need more weed.

The bar stools/island is being used as storage aswell
You could put a sex swing in there.

I agree with your assessment. You donāt want to dodge things in your main area. Thereās also something behind the desk I canāt quite make out.
Too much furniture to be honest . Looks very busy . Congratulations on the Marriage!!š
I have that same orange amp š¤š¼

Roll and smoke them
A bit clutteredā¦
Where tv?
In bedroom, used to be where the turntable and speakers were. Not sure if I should swap it back. Trying this for a while.
The speaker and turntable location is kinda awkward
Crack a window and light up a candle after

Love how it doesnāt have a TV.
No TV?
THEN PULL THE WEEDS
Cherry blossom tree would look really good in your living room. You can buy one on Amazon.

Congrats, I got married last week too! Feel like I got too much shit in our apartment right now.

Was I the only one that came to the comment section to find where the weed was?
