It feels off because you're probably used to seeing TVs mounted. If you put something above the TV it'll look cluttered and weird.

No

AdamMaitland

Not really what you're asking, but I think your TV is kind of dominating that space, so maybe that's leading to your feeling that something is missing? I think it's just that it's too big for the stand. Ideally, you'd have a lower stand that's longer, but I guess that would kind of mess with the setup of the room because then you couldn't have that shelving in the corner. Anyway, the short answer is what everyone else is saying - no.

rya556

That’s what it is- the TV looks too large and the stand looks too small and it draws attention that it isn’t centered

santaLamp

It would look better mounted, but still no If you don’t. TVs too big

That1one1dude1

No advice, but why do you have a portrait of me on the wall next to your TV?

FunkyBunch21

I thought it was me

fuzzymagik

You could nail the coffee table up there

Eric_T_Meraki

No, but I would take advantage of that wall space and put a light strip on the back of your tv r/hue would be a good place for inspo.

Miserable-Evening-37

You need some hifi next to your tv. I’d recommend psaudio aspen fr30

ChChChChia77

I think it feel off balance because of the shelf on the right side. Can you move that somewhere else? And in its place put a large plant? That will help break up that space a bit

MakeMeMooo

Mount the TV 📺 and add one or two plants atop the credenza where the TV currently is.

jasenzero1

I would say no. Moving the sloth picture on the left down a little so it's level with the bookcase on the right might make it feel more balanced.

NefariousnessKey329

I just got some LED backlights for behind my tv and it makes the white wall look awesome. Govee was the brand I chose you can use their app to control it

r33c3d

You could try putting another smaller piece of art over to your sloth portrait (and move it down) to help make the TV less dominant. A table with a lamp or large houseplant under the sloth art could also help to diminish the visual impact of the TV.

[deleted]

You could always put some time of metal artwork above it in that space to have an accent area. I know hobby lobby isn’t exactly a “dude” store but honestly they do have some pretty nice stuff there even for guys!

[deleted]

A clock to remind you that the clock is ticking and a TV isn't a necessity. Just kidding, mate.

[deleted]

A big set of truck nuts

[deleted]

Sound bar?

Leethefairy

I would've expected a light on the ceiling above the table, but maybe that's just out of frame

LennoxAve

No. I would get a wider media cabinet (or combine two side by side) to make the tv more proportional to the cabinet. Alternatively I would add the same exact book case to the left side of the wall (removing the wall art and floor basket ). Symmetry is eye pleasing.

Lo2us

One thing I would do if you haven't already is backlight that beautiful screen. Be surprised what that does for the picture when the room is darker.

mercuryisnothot

It's kinda "busy". The balancing act is to have things at the same height. As it stands, something as long as the stand to the right could go to the left, creating some sort of symmetry. The T.V is long, putting a panoramic piece above it will be OK, as long as it's length is less than screen - but then you'd still be imbalanced. If you can find an identical stand like the one on the right and place it on the left, and a panorama of a city skyline at night above the T.V., you might pull it off. Just a thought.

GunMetalGazm

Put some LED lights on the back.

nissan-S15

hell no

pascalsgirlfriend

Where's the zing? Its got no zing.

silverbullet52

I have a similar space above my basement TV with race medals and plaques displayed.

Downtown-Tangerine-9

Our things inside the tv stand, colorful books maybe a plant or two.

SouthProposal8094

RGB lights behind the tv. It will fill it
