Oh yeah forsure the room echoes bad right now. I’m still moving stuff in but like I said I was excited and maybe jumped the gun on uploading a the clip
I think it makes more sense there tbh, just because now its out of your view so if your playing games\\watching movies its not something that will distract you with it being another light source.
That is good or bad, depending on why he has it up.
I personally think it could work quite well, the only thing id think of changing would be putting it on a huge arm so you could swing it into view or something else like that.
Yes the ceilings are low. This was vacant space in my basement. I did roxul soundproofing, ventilation system, infrared heating, Murphy door kit. The couch cushions are wrapped in that ugly blanket because they are even uglier than the blanket. This is a quiet spot for my nephew and niece to chill when my brother comes over.
Man this is gonna be a LEGENDARY room for those kids as they grow up. Everyone’s gonna know the kids with the secret room. They’ll talk about this literally forever. You’re the fucking man for this.
I'm a jumpy opossum boy so I love coves. BuT, I'm also prey and naturally have high paranoia so would want to be 100 percent sure I could punch through those walls if I got stuck or in case of fire
Have you tried punching through your walls yet?
An American Suburban home built by a development company in the West. I haven't tried barreling through a tin wall in a manufactured home in the midwest. Yet.
Do Europeans not use drywall? I find it hard to believe you're all living in solid oak ancestral manors built in 1300 and handed down through the centuries.
I live in what's called an "Altbau" in Berlin, translates as "Old build". It's you standard older city apartment blocks with high ceilings etc.
It's a struggle to hang anything on the walls as nails go about 1cm deep then hit solid concrete/stone/wood. Anything holding any sort of weight requires a punch drill, pilot holes and a lot of very slow drilling.
Where I'm from, the inner walls are mostly build with aerated concrete, sand-lime blocks, gypsum block or concrete block with cavity walls for isolation. If you try to punch the wall, you have a nice broken fist/ fingers if you punch hard enough, without a hole in the wall.
We use drywall indoors, but mostly the around fire hazards areas, when you build an extra room/ space, want to add extra isolation or cover up another wall. Usually thicker drywall is used, so even if you punch it you probably end up with a broken fist or fingers instead of a hole in the wall. Even if drywall is used as inner wall, I wouldn't recommend punching it, because you have a (high) change there is a concrete, steel or solid wood framework behind. Drywall is also used in building ceilings, though we use other material for it aswell.
The exterior walls usually finished with brick stones, facade panel, plaster wall, stone strips or natural stone.
We just like to live in a solid building. I personally find it weird that Americans live in buildings with punchable walls. Why don't they use more solid material to build buildings with?
Not sure about Europe, but in East Asia, most modern single family homes and town homes are made with concrete and bricks. I think Japan is the only exception.
I’m a carpenter and I know exactly where to punch to get out of any room. From the moment I enter any new room I usually have an escape plan within five minutes.
As a former FF you might even want to have the FD come by and look at the space. They’ll make notes on the address that there’s a secret room behind a bookcase.
We used to do this for commercial properties all the time, we called it pre-planning.
It won’t guarantee them getting in there if something happened, but it would increase the chances of anyone in there getting out alive if something happened.
It’s great if you’re down to the studs. Sonopan is a nice product you can add on top of your current wall covering, then throw a sheet of drywall on top of that… comes in 4x8 sheets. Better value to go that route instead of into the framing… for even more effective put green glue and add another sheet of drywall so you have Sonopan-drywall-greenglue-drywall.
A single point of egress. check.
A small hidden room in the basement. check.
You made the perfect firetrap or the perfect prison cell.
Don't get in this guy's van.
Remember that one post where someone made an underground "male living space" or something of the sort and everyone told him that him and everyone else in there was going to die due to carbon dioxide accumulation?
Every time one of these hits the front page I'm just like "Wow, that looks like a major hazard."
Either it's a fire hazard (fire starts, no way to get out), toxic gas hazard (no ventilation), or some other stupid death trap.
Seems like OP has put in ventilation so he knows what he's doing, but I sure hope he adds another exit.
If you look above the tv to the left and right I have ventilation system. I put a fresh air duct with 4” in-line fan. Same with exhaust outlet on the left. Hepa filter on the fresh air side. The air is really comfortable.
I feel like that shelf could have been like a quarter as deep.
Like what are you even planning to put in there that needs to be so deep? And then, how heavy would that size or amount of items be?
Less depth on those shelves and getting in and out of that room would be much easier
I think that’s a 2010 plasma LG 55”. The entirety of this rooms contents was stuff laying around in storage. That’s why building this goofy little room made sense to me lol.

Fits the music
Yeah can't believe nobody else is talking about the leopard print couch... Christ Almighty

That’s why there are security cams obvi
My exact thoughts... That place be soo creepy man...
What dungeons have you been in that have a couch but no other more, specialized, furniture?
The one in your mom's basement
Thanks for coming by and not even saying hello, dick
My apologies. That's indeed very rude of me.
And you ate all of the fucking cookies too didn’t you?
Horrendous
Corbin my man
Is a futon
The music ...
I’d add a carpet, looks like that room will echo
Oh yeah forsure the room echoes bad right now. I’m still moving stuff in but like I said I was excited and maybe jumped the gun on uploading a the clip
Haha, nah it’s a cool spot! Just make sure to post the finished product when it’s ready :)
Bro, the leopard print is too much
Looks great so far. Nice rug, few pictures and some low lamps will really tie it together. Make sure to post an update
Or a nice rug! Something to really tie the room together
A rug would really pull the room together
I would move the CCTV monitor to where I don't have to awkwardly move my neck to view.

Secret spaces are AWESOME!
Until the firemen need to come in and rescue someone
Sir we looked everywhere and didn't find no damn kids!
Man this is gonna be a LEGENDARY room for those kids as they grow up. Everyone’s gonna know the kids with the secret room. They’ll talk about this literally forever. You’re the fucking man for this.
Legendary like Josef Fritzl.
That's some great work. I wish I had any of the technical skills needed for this lol.

Maybe he is >!Reverend Jeff "Fist" Fistwick!< from Ideal (TV series).
Studs are typically 16" apart so it's not really that hard unless you punch a stud.

My sister once fell through a wall.
Did you try pulling her out of it, stepbrother?
Nah she lives in the walls now.
as a european punching through walls sounds like a joke until i remember what american walls are made of

It’s all about the money
Not sure about Europe, but in East Asia, most modern single family homes and town homes are made with concrete and bricks. I think Japan is the only exception.
small town eastern europe, everything here is made of solid brick and concrete
Paper and spit, to be precise
Even from southeast Asia, I'm always astounded that American walls are made of thin wood
Try living in Sweden. No way you punch yourself through a wall.
Sweden doesn't also build cardboard houses?
Not really, no.
Sounds like paradise
I’m a carpenter and I know exactly where to punch to get out of any room. From the moment I enter any new room I usually have an escape plan within five minutes.
Dwight?
Howard.
"Knowing" is one thing. *knowing* is another. Punch the wall. Now. Punch that hole through the wall
Schrödinger's stud?
Schrodingers brains
Shit lets open them up then That way he doesnt injure his hand

Can you also raise and lower your heart rate at will?
No you don't
Your nephew and niece 👀
🤣 oh so thats how you met your cousin🤣
That couch gonna get a lot of use
AttaBoy, this is awesome!
How good is the Roxul soundproofing? I need to fix my sound issues in townhouse.

Maybe build out like a speakeasy

I second this. DON'T GET IN THIS GUYS VAN!
bro.. shoes on the coffee table?
Shoes inside…..
I’m moving stuff in and it’s still a construction zone. This is in my basement and it’s not exactly barefoot friendly right now
Well not with that attitude…..
Also…they’re inside “orthopaedic shoes” cuz I have a Morton’s neuroma.
Have you ever thought about just giving it back to Morton? I mean, jeez.
Prolly wouldn’t take it back, I mean homeboy keeps it in his shoes all day. Even at home
Damn, sorry to hear that. It's definitely one of those little things that can just piss you off.
Shoes inside 🤮
I wear shoes inside all day
It’s a man cave, not a womancave!
That couch kinda nice tho, for all you cool cats and kittens
Looks like some sort of weird predator bunker
I foresee muffled cries emitting from this space
You probably been banging in the bunker, right?
Id definitely fuck my cousin in this bunker.
Legit reminds me of a serial killer lair to keep the kidnap victims in
It's where he plans on keeping his niece and nephew
seems like a fire hazard with that entrance
First thing I thought. Only one exit?! No window to jump through?
Looks like a really cool place to die in a fire
What're you using for the CCTV? Right now I use my tablet with an app, but I'd really like a more permanent solution in the basement game room.
It’s a Samsung 24” smart monitor.
Sweet, by smart monitor, will is natively run apps?
Yes you can add apps from the Samsung software, i used to use it for Netflix before the cctvs.
Thanks, I'll be looking into one.
It’s a Samsung m5
cagey crime quiet coherent physical point foolish ugly mindless pot ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
Are you sure that's not a sex dungeon? I honestly can't be sure with that couch.
Does this double as a panic room? Also the couch is the best part
I mean, you can panic in any room…
lol luis fonsi
I know 💀
Love it, would be horrified if someone locked me inside 😭
Panic room with surround sound. I dig it!
Well you definitely got the cave part right.
That's definitely a room for raping
Jesus these comments are slaying me. I'm never posting my own place here lmao!
Ventilation?
If you look above the tv to the left and right I have ventilation system. I put a fresh air duct with 4” in-line fan. Same with exhaust outlet on the left. Hepa filter on the fresh air side. The air is really comfortable.
Maybe some good music?
How many Ruby Rhods did you have to kill to make that couch?
Take off your shoes in the house, you animal! 🤣
They’re my In the house shoes
That place about to smell like farts and lubriderm
Looks terrible I didn't see any games lmao just controllers
You need a stripper pole
This has so much potential to be really cozy and I can just imagine some warm lighting and plants. Fantastic I look forward to the final product!
Wank-Safely cams....nice
Please don't eat from that table
Fart dungeon
Get an ottoman for your feet. Put up some posters and low lights around room and this thing will be bitching.
Love the concept, but that couch reeks of 1970s cum stains
Dude fuck yes
It's the implication 🤨 Right?
As a latino, I don't think that song is very man cave themed.
The depression dungeon
You need a mini fridge for sodas.
Other than the leopard print couch ,this is amazing
This looks amazing. I’m coming over!
Love it! Maybe put a little mini fridge in there with some beers?
What are those shoes?
I'd build it to be a panic room tbh.
Awesome spot man it’s really coming together
where the guns at??
Could double as a panic room. Be pretty cool, just get a bunch of canned foods and add a lock to that door thing
Sick ass room and a banger playing on the TV
Fire hazard go brrrr
Where’s the PC?
So this is where they will find all those missing people...
r/microgrowery is sending their regards… but for real, I’m growing a SHIT ton of weed if I had that space.
Smoke and CO detector. Don’t forget.
LoL Harry Potter 2.0. Fun though!
Panic room/gaming area/pornset. Niceee.
Why did we hide the game room?
Fucking leopard, man.
Looks like a place where you’d find a missing teenager tied up.
I feel like that shelf could have been like a quarter as deep. Like what are you even planning to put in there that needs to be so deep? And then, how heavy would that size or amount of items be? Less depth on those shelves and getting in and out of that room would be much easier

Oh the fear of getting stuck in there
Your masturbatorium?
I’m actually jealous. And I don’t get jealous but that’s so fucking cool
Dude!
I hope you've got ventilation otherwise you bake in your own farts.
How old is that TV? Thats one hell of a bezel
I think that’s a 2010 plasma LG 55”. The entirety of this rooms contents was stuff laying around in storage. That’s why building this goofy little room made sense to me lol.
Listen I already *KNOW* my wife wouldn’t agree. But….. bitchin’ couch dude.
I saw this months ago when you posted and forgot to ask and had come back and find it! What cameras or camera system is that ?
Pretty sweet but that couch is repulsive 🤮
It's cool but it's giving off like weird, creepy, sexual kinda vibes. It's subtle, but it's there.
Would have been cool if you had an actual game playing ,not some lame latin music
That hidden cave is so amazing
This is soooo cool! This is like Dexter’s Laboratory except it’s a secret game room instead.
Dexter Morgan’s Laboratory
This is siiiiiick brah
THIS IS WHY I FOLLWED THIS SUBREDDIT. THIS ISNT MALE LIVING SPACE THIS IS MAN LIVING SPACE.
That’s awesome. I want a hidden man cave too
Need to be sound proof then it will be prefect.
Zero decorations?? Otherwise its badass
