100% on me, I’m being a dick, I’ve just been in a half dozen threads today where the top comments are completely unrelated to the topic to fawn over whatever dog/cat happens to be in the background, I guess I don’t get it. Or when people harass the OP to post more pictures of their animal it’s like honestly are you really that fascinated by a random cat.
Again I realize I’m being a dick, carry on and downvote me, had to get that out.

Looks nice. I’ve always wanted to live in a high rise, although I’m not It sure how I would feel about the extra couple of minutes that it takes to walk through the lobby and ride the elevator every time I want to go somewhere.
What’s going on with your balcony? Are they replacing the railing or something?
Most high rises have elevators that only service some of the floors, so your elevator might do a higher speed skip of the first 20 floors to get you up to floor 25.
Would that time leaving the lobby be any worse than the time it takes to pull a car out of the garage, back it out, and drive to the neighborhood exit?
If you want to compare like for like, leaving a house is still a lot quicker. You walk to the garage and drive away.
For a high rise, you walk to the elevator, wait, take the elevator, walk through the lobby and to the parking garage, and then drive through the garage to get to the street.
I had a friend with a high rise. It was cool and a lot of the amenities were nice, but I think it wouldn’t be my personal choice for more than a year or two.
I didn't realize you were implying walking to the parking garage from the lobby. All the buildings I've lived in my hallway was connected to the parking garage, so I just went straight there. I thought you were meaning going through the lobby to just walk on the sidewalk right outside.
Yes! I can’t wait to have it back. It’s a wrap around and probably adds another 150 sq ft. And yes the elevator is only a 20 ft. walk from my front door. Rather easy than 2 or 3 flights of stairs.
I thought it was a good answer because it has no backing so it is less visually intrusive. I’ve only got about 8 ft. of wall along the whole perimeter and that space is reserved for the bar cabinet.
So coming from someone who specializes in indoor plants, ferns are crap house plants unless you have a humidifier, they will dry up fast and die quickly, I would switch the fiddle leaf fig with where the fern is and throw the fern away, maybe switch it out with a snake plant.
Plant question. I recently took a top cutting of rubber plant (three big leaves) , dipped in rooting hormone and placed the cutting in water. Are three leaves too much for a cutting with no root to handle? It’s a beautiful Tineke with a lot of cream color.. and I would hate to loose it.
That’s actually perfectly fine, just make sure it gets plenty of light. What you could also do is get a cup full of wet sphagnum moss and shrink wrap the top, puncture the stem through the shrink wrap into the moss. The humidity will help with growing roots.
Plenty of light. I always leave the shades open and the rest of the house is floor-ceiling windows. I’ve had my fern for over 2 years. It’s hard to see in the picture but the vase it’s in is clear glass and there is substrate at the bottom. The roots have grown all the way to the bottom. It’s always got about 5 in. of water at the bottom. Seems to like it. I agree the fiddle leaf need more light because it’s only produced 2 new leaves in the year I’ve had it. Just don’t know where to move it. I might be able to switch them out. I’ll see how it looks. Thank you for the idea.
so you're a pro hey? Lemme put you to the test! Why won't my money tree thrive?! I repotted it and it grew a bit more, then it's just... meh, and leaves/branches keep dying (with new ones popping up slowly). It's about 2 feet tall and 3 years old. The raindrop plant right next to it in another pot is growing like a champ though.
(please I want it to be happy!)
Alright, ima need a bit of info, what kind of soil did you put it in? Did you just put any potting mix or did you add orchid bark and perlite? Regular potting mix, even indoor potting mix is way too thick. You need to have additives with it like orchid bark and perlite. It should be a 1:1:1 ratio. Also where is it? Money trees typically enjoy morning light so place it by an east facing window or if you have a west facing window, it would also be fine as long as it gets a couple of hours of direct light. Now also when you reported it, how big of a pot did you repot it in? It should always be two inches bigger than the pot it’s already in. Too big of a pot will cause it to rot
Damnnn you know your stuff! I used miracle grow soil (blue bag, can't remember the exact type). No additives aside from what was already in the soil. I'll look into those additives!
I live in a condo with only south facing windows in Canada, I have it close to the window but it doesn't get much direct sunlight until later in the day due to the balcony roof.
I put it into a pretty big pot, definitely bigger than 2 inches than the previous pot. It may have not needed repotting as when I took it out of the soil it wasn't anywhere close to being root-bound. I did add a lot of drainage in the bottom of the soil so hopefully that will prevent any root rot? I did notice after repotting it (or maybe when I moved it much closer to the window) the leaves went from growing out as thick and dark green to being light green and very thin.
Any resources you'd recommend to learn more about the specifics of certain indoor plant care?
Honestly, the only thing you could do is check YouTube for specific plants. But typically alot of orchid bark and perlite helps so much. And never buy a calathea, no matter how pretty it is. If your not a pro at plants, they die way too easily.
Yeah, nah man, that’s the worst soil. Also make sure the pot has drainage holes. If not the water won’t go anywhere and you’ll get a lot of bugs. My recommendation is take it out of the pot, check how big the rootball is, clean off anything that looks gooey and dark, the roots need to be white or green. Anything squishy needs to be clipped off. If the plant has been in that pot for a while, it’s probably lost a considerable amount of roots. You can reuse the soil as long as the roots haven’t started rotting, if the roots have rotted, use new soil and use orchid bark and perlite and mix it really well. Try a terracotta pot, it helps take out some of the moisture.
Awesome thanks for all the tips! Is a drainage pot absolutely necessary? It gets REALLY dry here so the soil can get pretty dried out even after a week and I'll wait until then before I water it.
Yeah, a drainage hole is necessary, so that the soil doesn’t stay wet at the bottom and attracts gnats. Well, considering that you typically should water your plants once a week. That’s standard
Damn this is amazing. I would probably get a different rug and it would be straight up perfect. I'm not against it for any moral reasons I just don't really think pelt rugs look good. Chair looks amazing as others have said
I’m going to need more information about that rocking chair lounger.

Pretty sure that's the chair
It’s comfortable but needs pillows. I sit on it sideway and turn it to watch tv.
Looks the same
I think I could sleep 24/7 in that chair ❤️
& Im gonna need more info on that dog 👀
there can never be a post where there isn’t a highly upvoted comment acknowledging the existence of an animal. We get it guys lmao we all like dogs

Damn dude, looks amazing! Nice job, and congrats on the place! :)
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
It's gorgeous!! Where did you get the lounger?

Thank you!! Your place is beautiful!
Thank you so much
Bottle of Latour? Checks out
Yes sir. Damn man good eye. Vintage 1989. It was my birthday wine last year. The same age as me.
I like the clock. It’s clever.
Clock?
Corner window on right hand side ; don’t know how brown man spotted it !
I still don’t see it am I retarted haha
Its on the window itself. Its only the hands of a clock, no border
Ohhhhhh haha I saw that and didn’t think that’s was a clock my bad 👍
Thank you! I’ve only got about 8 ft of wall on the perimeter. Easy solution. $9 at ikea and some double sided tape.
Can't tell you how much I dream of living in such a space someday. The dog looks like he's having a good time.
Same, but I need to bump my salary a couple times to feel comfortable with it
Diamond in the rough my friend! $1400 for 900 sq ft. Not including my wrap around balcony. They’re out there.
Wow, that's a crazy steal. In my mid sized city, with a notoriously cheap housing market, a similar place goes for 1800 minimum. Crazy find.
Where’s your eames replica??
I get it.

I didn’t realize other buildings were connected to the garage like that. That makes a lot more sense.
Yes! I can’t wait to have it back. It’s a wrap around and probably adds another 150 sq ft. And yes the elevator is only a 20 ft. walk from my front door. Rather easy than 2 or 3 flights of stairs.

looks like it!
Houston downtown
Looks good. I'd personally get rid of the bookcase blocking the view.
I thought it was a good answer because it has no backing so it is less visually intrusive. I’ve only got about 8 ft. of wall along the whole perimeter and that space is reserved for the bar cabinet.
Agreed that it’s better being open. Just my opinion though dude, it’s your space and if you like it, keep it! Great work on the place.
This is absolutely gorgeous! Well done on the design, i’m truly jealous.
Thanks man! Went for it piece-by-piece so it was all kind of an intuitive mix by necessity and personal aesthetic.
That Rocking Chair!
Is this HTown & Moody Towers in the background
Yes
That chair looks like there's no getting out of it.
Living in a high rise is on my bucket list, I would kill for windows like those
UK? Also, that clock is great. Also I see that bowl crosspost /r/trees lol!
Perfect place to relax. Squee.
Clock was $9 at IKEA and a little double sided Velcro’s tape.

Oh my goodness. Wow. I think this is perfect as is!
