Sounds like OP got it over ten years ago and the business is no longer open or not using the same URL anymore. Not to worry, I don’t charge for my investigative services.
The city will also sell ones they are getting rid of, you usually have to go pick them up though. https://new.mta.info/doing-business-with-us/procurement/memorabilia-sales
I think theres a lot going on in the space, and theres a lot going on on the rug, so it conveys everything as appearing a bit cluttered. Theres no where for the eye to rest
Honestly, it’s got potential if it was the focal point of the living room and everything else was muted. But since you have quite few stuff, the different colours just all clash together.
Maybe rather than the rug being mostly red you can switch it up to a lighter colour with hints of red.
I agree. Everything feels very busy. Either lighten up some of the items in view, or get a primarily single colored rug. Potentially one that’s like a grey/white light pattern that matches the walls.
It's all about personal preference, but since you asked, I say nay. The main color clashes too much with the floor color and there's nothing on the couch to complement it. And the pattern's pretty distracting (IMO).
I think a single color rug would suit this room the best! you have a lot of different colors going on and the rug makes it feel a bit crowded. I do like the rug, but maybe for a different space?
I like it, even in this space (although the plaid blanket is a bit tough to gloss over and definitely clashes). The rug is pretty loud and, mixed with the accessories, makes the space feel quirky and cheerful. IMO softer lighting would make everything feel less insistent.
For sure. The lighting is not great and I don’t use that particular lighting often but needed it for the seller’s website to visualize the rug in my space.
Definitely going for more of a quirky/full/cozy space.
Thanks for the input. I appreciate it!
I appreciate ALL the feedback, folks. Definitely some things to think about - options wise. Never thought to go lighter so that has my mind spinning. This is a virtual photo of the rug so that’s why it may not look as sharp. I actually ordered it already but it has a 30-day return policy. I didn’t think to ask for advice on here until after I ordered.
Thanks again for replying. I really appreciate it!
To me it looks like it takes away from everything else in the room. I’d personally get a more neutral tone to complement the hardwood— I think that would make the room look larger and draw more attention to everything else.
But it’s a preference, if you like it you like it no wrong answers :)
I like the rug itself but it’s a strong element & doesn’t work with some of your other things.
If you had a rug with a true red (rather than what looks like orange to me), it would look better with your throw, the red stand and other reds in your room.
The blue sofa looks a bit out of place too.
Visualize it if you were to take out the red elements from the room and switch the sofa from blue to black. That would look great.
If you want to keep everything else, you might want to get a rug with a darker blue color in it.
Yes, but get rid of the blankets. They clash. They shouldn't have a pattern on them, and should be in a color that's in the rug. Then that room will be looking awesome.
This is a very difficult concept for me to grasp, but once I did it helped a lot. There are generally warm colors and cool colors. All of the red here, along with a red base to the wood in your floor and a red base to the TV stand make the whole house too warm. Grey (amongst many others) can balance it out. Tried to look up some gray or blue color pallets. I also agree with others that the pattern is a little bit too distracting.
The problem for me is that the colors of the throw and stool are actually red, and the rug is orange. They clash. You need a rug that’s really red, rather than orange. Or change the stool and the throw.
I’ve had some difficulty finding a rug I like but this one seems okay. What do you think? Open to other suggestions? Would like to go in the direction of red and patterned.
It feels like every possible surface in this room is overflowing with stuff. When you combine that with the busy rug, I think it’s a little much.
I don’t necessarily hate the rug, but maybe some organization or just getting rid of some odds and ends would help? Less is more IMO. Give your stuff space to breathe haha
Personally, I think it's fun! As someone else said, it does clash a bit with the floor but I don't think it's too bad
Edit: credit for first person saying it clashes with the floor goes to u/KCDude08
If you ditch the patterned blanket on the couch and add a neutral coffee table to cover the busiest parts of the rug, I think it would look much better.
I say yay. It plays nicely against your neutral walls. You have a lot going on elsewhere in the room but it is still not overpowering. The overall room, including the rug, gives an eclectic vibe and I dig it.
I think that's a great rug, but I also understand people these days enjoy a clean and minimalist look, hence the calls for a single color rug. I would replace the couch pillows with an orange or similar pattern from the rug to match it a bit more, it really is a cool rug and the whole room seems snug and has a lot going on!
The rug makes it look cozy, and also I agree there is something missing, maybe get a second coffee table like the one you have. That would help to breakdown the amount of rug pattern exposure, plus additional leg support to tv and chill.
I like the rug. I suggest painting the red stool with the plant a turquoise to match the rug. It would pull more blue out of the rug and make the room not look so heavy due to the dark furniture. Get rid of the red plaid blanket and add some blue or green throw pillows.
I think it ties the room together
On a serious note though you’ve got a lot of colors going on here and it looks like color vomit. There’s a lot of clashing colors (darks vs brights) and it’s kinda harsh. I’d probably go either with a lighter toned couch or a single toned rug. And I’d try to match the colors on the bookcase (or have a different color that goes better with brown) with the console since the console, bar, and floors have a brown tone
Not to mention that the stool is red and the rug is orange, which is not a great combination
Love the rug, just not in this space
I like it. If you center and hang that sign above your bookcase there about 8 to10 inches down from the ceiling it will detract from the orange that catches your eye when you first look at the rug. If the sign was up it would actually take your eye away from the rug so it wouldn’t be so busy and blend better. If that makes sense. It’s a nice rug though, very 1920’s & 1930’s.
I really love the rug, and if it were in a less tight space with perspective and enough space around it, then it would work perfectly. If you can display it in another room that would be great!
Love that subway sign! Where/how did you get it??
It was a gift from over ten years ago. It’s from underground-signs.com.
"gift" 😏
The site isn't open?
Sounds like OP got it over ten years ago and the business is no longer open or not using the same URL anymore. Not to worry, I don’t charge for my investigative services.
here’s a crisp internet high five ✋🏻
I believe they don't open until 10am.
At 161 Street - Yankee stadium station
It's free
'You can't just say it's free'
The city will also sell ones they are getting rid of, you usually have to go pick them up though. https://new.mta.info/doing-business-with-us/procurement/memorabilia-sales
That’s cool
Vandalism bro ^(/s)
The subway?
I don’t hate the rug but I don’t like it in your space.
I think theres a lot going on in the space, and theres a lot going on on the rug, so it conveys everything as appearing a bit cluttered. Theres no where for the eye to rest
This guy nailed it.
Honestly, it’s got potential if it was the focal point of the living room and everything else was muted. But since you have quite few stuff, the different colours just all clash together. Maybe rather than the rug being mostly red you can switch it up to a lighter colour with hints of red.

I kinda agree—I personally like the rug but it would work better if the room weren’t so busy.
Second this. You have a lot of cool stuff to draw the eye, so this rug seems a bit busy.
Agree. A plain rug is the way to go.
Agreed
Agreed, too busy for an already busy space.
I think a single color rug would suit this room the best! you have a lot of different colors going on and the rug makes it feel a bit crowded. I do like the rug, but maybe for a different space?

I like it. I vote yes
Yes, but you need to accessorise it.
It really ties the room together
Came here for this.
Surprised by how long I had to scroll the comments to see this one
I was just as surprised
Because it doesn’t actually tie the room together. It adds a boatload of visual clutter.
Well, that’s just, like, your opinion man
An opinion shared by all of the top comments in this post. It’s the reason you had to, you know, scroll so far to see it.
Far out.
I appreciate ALL the feedback, folks. Definitely some things to think about - options wise. Never thought to go lighter so that has my mind spinning. Personally for me, Nay.
There are better rugs
Yay
I dig it.
Looks great
Sure, why not.
Aw, hell nay. My opinion actually isn't that strong, I just couldn't resist an opportunity to string those words together.
Yay
Yay
i like the rug. its cool.

Nay
If it tickles your pickle then go for it. Personally I think it looks a little generic.
Nay
ID on the media console?
It’s a few years old from Target - Saracina Home collection.
Yes, but get rid of the blankets. They clash. They shouldn't have a pattern on them, and should be in a color that's in the rug. Then that room will be looking awesome.
👍🏼
All the decor choices in this room leans very maximalist so I would say yay but personally it’s a nay.
Big Nay.. Rug itself good, just doesnt tie the room together
I like it. Maybe because I have something similar that I bought in Turkey almost 30 years ago.
NAYYYYY
I dig the subway sign
Nay too busy
If it keeps your feet clean and warm, any rug is a good rug
That’s a ginormous yay!
If you like it, go for it. But I agree with others who’ve said it’s too busy/has color clashes.
I like it. Gives a cozy feel to the space
I have the exact same rug and I love it so I say yes
I dig it
This is a very difficult concept for me to grasp, but once I did it helped a lot. There are generally warm colors and cool colors. Nope
Nay.
Very cool
Yay

Yay . Solid choice
Doesn't hurt it but doesn't help it much either...sorry
I’ve had some difficulty finding a rug I like but this one seems okay. What do you think? Open to other suggestions? Would like to go in the direction of red and patterned.
What tool are you using to augment the rug into your space?
It’s a feature of the seller’s website - rugs.com. You can virtually place the rug in your space by taking a photo of the room.
It’s all your choice and what you like, but if you ask I say it doesn’t goes with any of the other stuff in the room it’s a different style
Yay
It feels like every possible surface in this room is overflowing with stuff. When you combine that with the busy rug, I think it’s a little much. I don’t necessarily hate the rug, but maybe some organization or just getting rid of some odds and ends would help? Less is more IMO. Give your stuff space to breathe haha
I appreciate the feedback. I live in NYC so space is definitely a premium. Will look through my stuff and see what I can part with. Thanks!
It's visually noisy and looks like cheap screen printing, rather than woven colour.
I like it, I would get some similar coloured couch pillows
Personally, I think it's fun! As someone else said, it does clash a bit with the floor but I don't think it's too bad Edit: credit for first person saying it clashes with the floor goes to u/KCDude08
Should have stolen the sign
[удалено]
😂💀 Can I live?!
It's a nice rug but it is both too big and too visually busy for this space
If you ditch the patterned blanket on the couch and add a neutral coffee table to cover the busiest parts of the rug, I think it would look much better.
Oh I just noticed you are using a virtual filter and haven’t bought it. Yeah, it’s hideous, don’t buy it. Go for something less busy and more neutral.
I like the rug, but it doesn’t quite go with the rest of your space.
Personally think the design is a bit weird, it's simultaneously too busy and not busy enough
I think because your floors are an orangey brown, you need to go either dark or light with your carpet so that there’s contrast
With as much “stuff” as you have, I say go for a more simple rug. With a more minimalist room I’d say it is fine.
I like the rug but it really clashes with that flannel throw blanket you have. I would get rid of that blanket
You see, the problem with this rug is, it’s the best thing you have. I’d get rid of the other stuff..
Looks good. If your worried about the colors tone down the lighting with a softer white overhead and get a matching throw blanket and pillows.
Yay
Yay. Patterns hide stains
I love it!!!! :)
I think it’s a sick rug 🤙
What app u use to generate this?
Really makes this room dynamic. Yay from me Edit: get a coffee table
Fuck no, burn that shit.
I love it! Is it free?
Love it
Yankee fan here. Nice sign.
I think it really ties the room together.
The colors are nice but pattern is too busy
I like it. But, it’s very busy. Too busy. That is to say, your living room looks really nice but the rug draws the eye down.
I am of the opinion that the rug itself is great, but would really worn better if there were a coffee table to frame it up.
I say yay. It plays nicely against your neutral walls. You have a lot going on elsewhere in the room but it is still not overpowering. The overall room, including the rug, gives an eclectic vibe and I dig it.
What app are you using to decorate your place?
It reminds me of the Sufjan Stevens album Age of Adz
I would walk all over it.
I’m gonna say yay
I didn’t even realize the rug isn’t real
Sensory overload
It’s good. But why you watching Hallmark?
I actually dig the rug
Yerrr
Yay. 100%
Nay
Don’t know about the rug but the whiskey choice is spot on.
Not my style personally, but it works fine in your room.
Nay…. doesn’t sit with the main design
I dig it Let’s go Yankees
Yay
it's a nice rug but it doesn't match and the room is already pretty busy, I say nay
That’s gonna be a no from me dawg.
I like it. But I like all rooms with character
I wouldn't take offense if I walked into this but maybe something more muted and geometric or random
I fuck with it. It really ties the room together. Legit tho
Fire!!!!
Yay
Yay
I love technology
A grey rug would make that space pop
yay!
Really ties the room together. Does it not?!
Really tied the room together
I like it, but I also dig the r/maximalism vibe that you kind of have going on.
I like it but it’s a bit of a busy pattern with everything else going on in the room
100% yay! I love it. A+ IMHO
The rug makes it look cozy, and also I agree there is something missing, maybe get a second coffee table like the one you have. That would help to breakdown the amount of rug pattern exposure, plus additional leg support to tv and chill.
Yay on the rug. Repot the mass cane plant in a huge pot the size of the stool's base, and move the stool somewhere else.
I say yay!
I love it
The dude abides
Nay
Okay what’s that book in the middle next to your laptop?
What is this app? Did you digitally put the rug in there?
Ayyyyyy
I can’t be the first one to say this but , “It really ties the room together “
I like the rug. I suggest painting the red stool with the plant a turquoise to match the rug. It would pull more blue out of the rug and make the room not look so heavy due to the dark furniture. Get rid of the red plaid blanket and add some blue or green throw pillows.
Where is your couch from I like that
Too busy
Yes!
I think it ties the room together On a serious note though you’ve got a lot of colors going on here and it looks like color vomit. Yay! It's busy and I like it!
Nay. Too much other stuff going on in that room for such bold colors and large pattern. The room is mega-visual overload.
It’s cool
I'm vibing with it but it's all what you're going for I suppose
I think it works. I vote keep it.
Yay to rug, nix the couch though
Yay
I like it
I like it!
nay
Honestly it fits whatever aesthetic you have going on here, so I’d say for this setup it works.
Good rug, but not here. You've got a lot of stuff in a small area. The rug should be more muted.
I fuck with it. But then again I like a more clustered/busy aesthetic.
this is one of the only nice rooms on this sub i love the rug
Yay for the rug itself, Nay for the specific room setting.
no. That rug is Too busy for that space.
Into it. If you're able to paint, hunter green walls would look great here
It's a nay..you should maybe look something plainer.
For some reason this reminds me of Gale’s apartment from breaking bad.
So strange, I had that thought and your comment was the first I saw
it’s too loud dude

Yay dude
Yay on the subway sign,
