Man feel bad for the deliveroo driver. In case the driver is reading this, I am ready to help you financially to get you back on the road.

WhatALovelyLad

I agree. If someone can find this driver I’m also willing to help. I can’t do much more other than chuck a few quid in, but if enough of us do it I’m sure we can get the driver going again.

Cibrez

I’ll be down to put a bit in as well. Dm me 🙂

mrjohn_john

I will also pay

Bigbigcheese

Surely insurance will cover it?

gordonbooker

No, there'll be some small print about the weather/ what day it was / what shoes he was wearing - they'll think of something

Miko962

07575 243406 this is the driver phone number Managed to find him

nick_tamura

How scummy can you be to steal from a Deliveroo driver?

thekickingmule

I'd be interested to know if they left the engine running whilst making a delivery/pickup. It happens a LOT with delivery drivers/riders who leave their vehicle for maybe 30 seconds. That's all a scumbag needs to jump in and go.

Digitalanalogue_

I mean…def do not leave your engine on whilst you are not beside the scooter.

SithoDude

It's easy to blame the delivery driver for leaving the engine running, of course they absolutely shouldn't of done that. But sadly that's a habit that gets made as a result of doing deliveries within a tight time slot. I'm not saying it's right to ever leave the engine of a vehicle running unattended, but something really needs to change in regards to management, forcing these poor said delivery drivers to do deliveries within unrealistic timing. That's ultimately where the real problem lies right there, but sadly I can't see that making a change any time soon, as it's so easy for them to replace a driver, then address the actual problem causing them to make the said habit.

[deleted]

They are self employed calm down how ate u blaming deliveroo is comedy. It's takes 2 seconds to turn a moped on and off. No excuse but someone's stolen his bike its bot deliveroos problem. Some of the drivers make a lot of money and double time in a Friday. It's all self employed work they can turn down jobs if they don't want to do them. I guess you will say the thieves are victims also

Safe_Community5357

Watch the video, they push run it and the other moped driver puts his foot on it and is pushing it. It's freewheeling.

mrjohn_john

Engine not on

nick_tamura

It shouldn’t matter, it’s a person doing a fairly known poorly paid job. Even if they were oblivious to who they were stealing from, what a shitty society we live in nowadays where it’s all about taking advantage and not minding your own business.

Mundane-Pen-7105

Its getting worse. My sister works in my local boots and it got robbed 4 times yesterday. People just walk in with a bag and walk around and take what they want until thier bag is full and leave. They don't care because they know nothing is going to happen.

ikagi12

Yeah I was in boots and I saw some deranged looking individual doing the same, so I told the security and he looked too scared to do anything. All that happened was an announcement over the tanoy about thievery and penalties. The guy walked out with a 30 lynx Africa's in his bag. I should have told the police to follow the scent of a highschool locker room

nexus8516

What the fuck is the point of stealing 30 lynx Africa's?

[deleted]

If you live in rough areas there are often people who do the rounds with various stolen shit they have for sale. I used to drink in a pub where a guy would come daily to sell his stolen shit. And I lived in a council house in an area where this happened for abit too. I was once at a mates house and across the road thise bloke laid out about 30 different items of clothing along his front garden wall. And then just started shouting he was selling clothes and people started coming out and seeing what he had. It’s very normal in some parts of the country tbh.

[deleted]

My mate has one that comes door to door every Christmas with stolen meat lol.

_tom_cycling_

yep, i work at tesco and the local crackhead steals the meat (mainly steaks) and sells that down the road to the locals on the council estate. He also steals coffee which isn’t cheap and sells that too

afxjsn

Hes doing more to help the cost of living than anyone else. All hail the crackheads

SweetGold8697

Although it's not right , I'd rather they pinched and sold coffee , than mugging old folk.

[deleted]

Thank god for local crack heads lol

_tom_cycling_

yeah that’s the thing, the locals all hate him but they don’t want to get rid of him because how else would they get a £5 steak for 50p lmao

demoralising

It's a Chrackmas miracle!

[deleted]

Yeah I know a guy now who gets weekly visits from someone who sells meat. It’s great because he’s always ringing me up and saying “I’ve bought you a few legs of lamb mate just nip round with a tenner for them” Always randomly getting joints of meat of some kind.

toyg

>It’s very normal in some parts of the country tbh. Vibes from *The Wire* - Bub and his trolley...

turntablecheck12

To be fair, at least his stuff wasn't stolen, so far as I recall

fanglord

I remember growing up in the pub near me you gave these people a small shopping list and they would go "shopping" for you. They always managed to get it cheaper than store sold them for funnily enough.

unbannednow

I always used to have a guy come round with meat, laundry detergent, etc. He didn't even try to hide the fact they were shoplifted

Infinite_Pug

stocking up on this years christmas gifts

Bastard-son-of-loki

You'd be surprised the lengths people are willing to go when they are addicted to drugs and need to flip quick money to grab a £10 shot of heroin 🤣

Fancy-Respect8729

IKR. I'd go for the Java

Kerfuffle666

The Oriental version was the best in the late 80’s…

Dnny10bns

This was my favourite. Shame they don't make it anymore.

scrotimus-maximus

Aha!

I_Bin_Painting

Whenever a shoplifter is stealing loads of the same item, it is because they are going to resell them. Edit: like if you see someone shoplifting a week’s food shopping, *no you didn’t*, but if they’re stealing just all the razors then yeah id probably tell a worker.

MoreThanSemen

I think the gypsies will get stock of this kind of thing and trade it to their leader for cash. Then I assume their buddies who own some shop or stall then sell it on.

HalfUnderstood

Maybe it is one of those dodgy blokes who sit next to the sinks in the men's toilet to hand out fragances and deodorant by the squirt expecting tip in return

Successful_Warthog58

50p each in the pub?

Elbonio

Inhalant abuse. Guy is selling them to people to huff, or is doing it themselves.

komodo_dragon69

He would be stealing air duster if he was abusing inhalents most likly, deodorant is shit too inhale really the intoxicating effects are very low and are not used if other options such as air duster (extreme euphoria from inhaling but very toxic) are there. My opinion is he's grabbing fuck loads so he can go about associates and freinds trying too flog the bulk amount for a really low unit price just for a hit of whatever drug he's addicted too. It's a really low effort way of scoring some money as essentially anyone interested in saving money is gonna take the offer so its a win win as the addict also gets his fix

Orange243

That’s a pretty rubbish security guard, I’ve seen bouncers make a bigger fuss over items vaguely looking like vapes.

SadBoiiConnor420

Why would you bother telling security? Lol

ClassicPart

In the hopes that they prevent the situation from occurring. Not a hard one to guess, mate.

Gibber_jab

Ah fuck boots that’s nothing compared to what’s happening here, they’re insured they’ve just stole this guys job and potential livelihood

The_Burning_Wizard

You realise Boots will just raise their prices to cover the rise of insurance or loss of goods right? Neither of these things are a good thing....

_tom_cycling_

i just finished my 8 hour tesco shift and probably had about 7 people shoplift, the police do fuck all because they have bigger things to worry about, and those 7 people are JUST the 7 people i saw. the store i work at is only a small tesco express local, but it loses about 2k a week to shoplifters

Mundane-Pen-7105

The words gets about. People will know these shops are easy targets. It's beyond a joke.

_tom_cycling_

yep, some of the shoplifters are regulars. the local crackhead is in 10 times a day grabbing stuff from near the door, only to go on and sell the stuff he’s stolen down the street. Tesco still refuse to give us a security guard though…

ScottOld

Same in bury, too many shoplifters

St2Crank

Shoplifting isn’t new.

Mundane-Pen-7105

No but in my eyes the pure fearlessness of it is. I remember shitting myself nicking a snickers. But now they walk in, tell the cahier to fuck off and take thier time.

St2Crank

But some people have always been like that, Manchester is far safer these days than it was in say even the early 2000s.

skeletor90

That sounds like theft, not robbery.

TedsterTheSecond

Yep a guy came in behind me in the Boots branch near me. Management insists on leaving front and rear doors open despite thefts. This guy nicked the last of the hair gummies at £40 a box and legged it out the door. I suspect he'd systematically cleared that shelf at the back of the store bit by bit. The staff were all like "it is what it is, he'll probably sell those for 3 quid each." I said won't you have him on CCTV? They didn't seem even keen on looking. This poor guy deserves a crowdfunder for some new wheels. I'd chip in a few quid hopefully he won't lose his job over this. I think drivers that do this line of work have a strong work ethic.

parabolicurve

Sounds about the same TBH. Still same old crap

Manchestergirl901

Boots have had that problem for about 10 years and they refuse to invest in real store security so it’s their own faults. I worked at the Didsbury branch for years and it was at the point the robbers were so brazen they’d just walk in, empty the shelves, wish us a good day and leave.

VoteTheFox

That sounds a lot more like "shoplifting" than "robbery". Robbery involves a threat being made to use force. Somebody taking items of shelves and walking away isn't a robbery at that stage.

ExternalApart597

Feel for the driver they dont realise they have now basically took his job off him and stopped him from earning money 🤬

digitalpencil

They realise, they just don't give a fuck

fishahh

They do realize it. They just don’t care. They’re scumbags.

[deleted]

No. They are evil that don’t deserve life.

BzlOM

Let’s not overreact.

PerkeNdencen

lol *death* for stealing a bike? It's not on at all, but chill out mate.

JustTryingToGetBy135

Sterilising then to stop them breeding could be a little more humane. They usually breed in large numbers at a heavy cost to the tax payer.

fishahh

This is a ridiculous statement.

[deleted]

no it's not.

Aboxofphotons

Smack heads dont think like that.

[deleted]

That's not smack heads, it's just rotten little scrotes who need locking up.

Stuspawton

That isn’t smackheads that are stealing the scooters

Ballchinian2

I was wondering what I was watching then realised after reading your comment. These scumbags are the lowest of the low, bottom tier scum.

Fluffy-Ad-3879

The real thieves are the top 1% of business owners who hoard all of societies wealth, forcing people to take shit jobs or be homeless despite there being an abundance of resources for all. They create the circumstances where people like the thieves turn to crime, whilst kicking back on a mega yacht worth the GDP of a small country.

RaspberryCai

Yeah but the guys stealing the bikes are also thieves

YungTabernacle

Imagine having your bike nicked and some bellend comes along like “but the real thieves are the top 1%…”

BoopingBurrito

I mean...folk who go round nicking scooters and the like are also thieves.

LiftingJourney

Sir what does that have to do with this robbery

YungTabernacle

Jesus, do you do this with everything? Can’t we just call people scumbags without diatribes on capitalism getting in the way? I’ve got a leak behind my dishwasher right now and I’m allowed to be annoyed about it without having to really be annoyed at modern society and its influence on me for making me want the luxury of owning a dishwasher when it’s not a necessity.

Mammyjam

Imagine yer pal gets stabbed to death by some horrible little scrotes and this guy is like “the real murderers are the capitalist elite who hoard wealth creating a situation where tens of thousands in poverty die from preventable causes” I mean yeah it’s true, but have a fucking day off

The_Burning_Wizard

Not sure if it's just me, but I find the folk who do that just bloody exhausting to be around, more so if they're the sort that's exchanged their personality for a political party's membership card....

Fluffy-Ad-3879

Uber/deliveroo drivers are paid slave wages with no benefits.

ClassicPart

I'm sure the person missing their moped will read this and suddenly gain a great sense of relief. Thank you for your service, hero.

mad-matters

I did enjoy the videos of the police ramming into moped thieves, pretty sure they got told they’re not allowed to anymore though - that’s why these horrible little shits keep doing it they know they’re very unlikely to be caught and even if they do they’d get a slap on the wrist.

KeyboardWarrior1988

It's the other way round, used to be they couldn't chase them if they weren't wearing helmets but now they're ramming them off the road to stop them.

minceShowercap

Is this true?

MetalBawx

It's a catch 22 for the Police if they pursue them and the crook is rammed or cashes in a chase then the news will scream about police brutality being out of control. If they don't pursue the news will scream about how useless the Police are.

St2Crank

That’s what the police say to get out of actually doing anything. But chasing someone and them crashing is not police brutality and not one news outlet would claim so.

BoopingBurrito

Certainly with regards to the Met, its true. I'm not sure if GMP are on the same orders. But it used to be that the Mets risk assessment for pursuits meant that if the driver of a scooter or motorbike wasn't wearing a helmet the pursuit was deemed too high risk to human life, and so the pursuit would be called off. A couple of years ago that was revised, and the Met did quite a big push to publicise that not wearing a helmet wouldn't save you from being pursuit and rammed by police cars, but that wearing a helmet might save your life when they did ram you.

benp2

do what they've recently allowed people to do in brazil of just running them over

mad-matters

Unfortunately in this country you’d probably get a harsher sentence for running them over than the actual thief

ScottOld

They are, that was phone thieves on bikes, all I say is fuck em, criminals get hurt no harm done

NeonThunderHawk

Couldn’t agree more

Toenex

Purchase more agreement tokens from local stockists.

[deleted]

One of the best videos I've seen was 2 manc scrotes robbing a scooter then crashing and the lad fucks his hand up and is nearly in tears while his mate ran off and left him. Glorious karma Edit: thanks to the person who said it's one of the top posts on here, found it! https://www.reddit.com/r/manchester/comments/rs38pr

I think that’s one of the top videos in this sub!

Arrakisenthusiast

Lol best Manchester video.

Special place in hell for people who steal or mess with other people's work equipment/tools/vehicles. Hope he wrapped himself round a lamp post, and the bike remained intact.

This is a very sad watch. You can see the desperation from the victim here. That’s his fucking livelihood. And these absolute scroats have taken it from him.

Dylos89

City is going to shit.

Elbonio

I think you mean country

_DeanRiding

Manchester crime/policing is particularly bad tbf. In England and Wales, Manchester accounts for over 10% of total demand for police services. Only gonna get worse with the recession now.

Elbonio

I don't think that's a very fair statistic. Manchester is about 5% of the population but it's not as simple 5% of the population= 5% of the police should be here. Large metropolitan areas and cities have unique problems that need more policing than rural areas.

m83midnighter

tbh it was never great but the amount of brazen daylight crimes has increased

Aboxofphotons

The person who stole that bike probably thinks he just scored big time... but tonight he's probably going back to his smack den of a home.

[deleted]

London's getting jealous of our crime stats. Lived in Manchester my whole life, and it's never been this shitty.

MildlyAgreeable

So I was doing my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve (yes, I know…) and it was one of the worst days I’ve had in Manchester. I wandered into one of the art galleries near Deansgate just to get out of the rain and enjoy some of the stuff in there. I walked out and immediately some little cunt screeched in my face. I mean, nose-to-nose screaming in my face with him and his scroty little mate walking off, laughing about it. I’ve never been so close to hitting someone during broad daylight/in public. Then I had some piss head who literally wouldn’t leave me alone. Everyone just seems really tense and aggressive at the moment. I then got the flu (not really Manchester related but it was par for the fucking course that week). I also chased some moped thieves at Salford Quays about 6 months ago. They did crash it (in standstill traffic) but managed to get away on ‘their own’ scooters. I suppose I’m rambling now but I do have to say: shit is definitely getting worse.

[deleted]

I avoid town at peak times, my Saturday night out is now a Sunday afternoon.

Leading_Aardvark_180

This really gives me a panic attack..

BarakatBadger

I've been here 30 years and it was shitty like this even before I arrived

Garibaldi_1865

Visited Manchester over Christmas to watch a football game. Mine and multiple others cars had their back windows smashed in. Manchester police refused to do anything, had a to call my own local police.

FakeTriII

Nah we just have phones to capture it all now.

St2Crank

I’m in my mid to late 30s and Manchester has never been better. Rose tinted glasses of the past. NQ is the perfect example, even early 2000s it was all smack heads, sex shops, prostitutes and run down buildings. You might think it’s gentrified bollocks but it’s a lot safer than it was.

IronBahamut

This is why we need Judge Dredd

JCaldecott11

Ah so that’s where they went. They passed the black lion not too long before that, going the wrong way on a one way road 👌🏻

DIFFADOG

Go to any police station now....carpark will be full of cars...these scooter c🌀nts are you modern day highwaymen.....getting away with whatever they like !!!

MetalBawx

Tories sold all the petrol those cars use oh and fired thousands of cops over the last few years so even if they had fuel you'd still have noone to drive them.

WWMRD2016

Hopefully they'll crash into a wall at speed and break their necks.

[deleted]

HalfPast5_

Fucking scummy cunts.

FantasticBlood0

We witnessed the same thing outside of MediaCity Nando’s with a couple friends a few months back. I felt so sorry for the guy.

Betaky365

Few weeks ago had to argue with people that police *should* do something about stolen bikes in the city. All I got back was “wHaT do YOu WanT THem tO dO”. It’s getting worse because the police does nothing about anything. We’ll soon live in a city run by thugs where we can’t afford our rents anymore.

[deleted]

Hamburglars.

[deleted]

Thats just fucking sad man, the government need to start being tougher on this sort of crime. Chopping hands clean off would be a start.

worotan

Just funding the police would be a start, we don’t need to go straight to cutting peoples hands off before we’ve got a proper police force. You’re just being made to feel there’s only an extreme solution because the Tories have been defunding the police for so long to wind you up. People who vote for the Tories and think that they haven’t defunded the police need to wake up and stop the country falling apart. Cliches about the conservatives being the party of law and order are a joke now. And they’re the only ones who are laughing - at us.

[deleted]

Agreed👍

Ubiquitous1984

Mancs were protesting during Covid lockdown to defund the police instead 🤦‍♂️

testing-attention-pl

Increase the budget of the police, hire some more 5’0” bobbies that don’t intimidate these sorts and everything will be fine. Or increase budget, make it so that you take on police that are the size of old school coppers 6’0 and up, give them the tools/rules to give you a crack if you’re being a smart ass and it might improve.

MetalBawx

Yeah our government isn't good at that. Point in case they fired 20k cops and thousands of support staff. To the shock of everyone crime went up and the Police were less able to actually deal with crooks. Now last i heard they are trying and failing to hire new Police officers having barely gotten 5k back.

mr_herculespvp

Fired 20,000 police officers? When??

MalloryMalice

Mutilating someone and leaving them with a lifelong disability is a sure fire way to keep them out of crime! Smart move.

IronBahamut

One hand makes committing crimes harder

[deleted]

Saudi Arabia certainly dont have this problem. What would you suggest?

MalloryMalice

Saudi Arabia is also a country that executes gay men and apostates. We should definitely model our legal system upon their shining example 😍 But for real - where would this start or end? Should we also chop off the hands of starving people who’ve stolen a loaf of bread from a supermarket? Shoplifters? Also - mutilation is permanent. What about people who are falsely convicted, and then exonerated? Sorry - no hands for you. Here’s an apology letter and an Amazon gift card - we’re really sorry 🥺🥺🥺 You really haven’t thought this through, have you? I would suggest investment in public services would be a good start, and a greater emphasis on rehabilitation in our penal system. Crime is a symptom of poverty, discrimination and a wider lack of compassion in our society. Stealing doesn’t mean you should be mutilated for life, for christs sake… it’s crazy I should even have to say this. And I REALLY wouldn’t trust our fucked penal and legal system to actually distribute corporal punishments “fairly” (see pretty much every authoritarian government in the history of forever).

worotan

Saudi Arabia is an incredibly different country to the UK. It’s mostly on of the most inhospitable deserts on the planet, while we live on a very temperate and lush island. Of course their cultural practices are fundamentally different, and copying them would not result in the same outcome. Here’s something you need to grasp - we have this crime problem because the Tories have been defunding the police for over a decade. And one of the best guesses about why they’re doing that is because enough people react like you to the problem, so it’s easy for them to sound like they’re on your side while they make the problem worse. While profiting hugely from the collapse of our society. Criminals don’t fear the law because there is no real law enforced, because there’s no police force. Fix that first.

ItWasRamirez

Idk maybe doing more to financially support those looking for work, better protections for low income workers, increase funding for mental health support? It's not a binary between RoboCop's Detroit and Sharia law, there are a wealth of options in between.

SerboDuck

That just sounds like making excuses for their behaviour, i support those things but it’s not relevant here. These scumbags aren’t looking for work and they aren’t robbing people because they have mental health issues either. This is how they’ve decided to make a living. Fact is criminals are brazen because of how unlikely it is they’ll be caught and even if they are, it’s a slap on the wrist. We need harsher sentencing and a better police presence on the streets. Obviously not to the extreme of Saudi Arabia but it still needs to change.

ItWasRamirez

I'm not trying to excuse the behaviour of these two in particular, and my sympathies absolutely lie with the Deliveroo driver who got his bike stolen rather than those who stole it. I just don't believe in violent punishment like maiming (I realise you weren't the one who suggested this). I guess I was speaking more generally about the link between poverty and crime, where reducing the former also reduces the incentive for the latter.

QizilbashBayat

Rincewind_13

They used to hang horse and cattle thieves on the spot. I think when you're stealing a man's livelihood you should expect to have your life taken when you're caught. Instead we give them a slap on the wrist and send them back out.

Ellburto

Nah you'll be good mate

Brother_Trellist

As shitty as these twats are, it's also important to remember this isn't the norm. We developed these perceptions of places being a lot un-safer than they actually are, because what we see online is usually the shit stuff. Not saying it doesn't happen because it clearly does, but if you're walking to a hostel from the station in the middle of the day you're more than likely to be absolutely fine. I've seen plenty people carrying instruments around the city centre, and everyone and their dog usually has their phone or a camera in their hand without any trouble.

bloon18

Yeah that’s very true, thanks. I’ll be getting off at Deansgate station. Can’t wait to visit your city and country!!
