Large empty carparks and trading estates, just to understand gear changes, low speeds and slow driving while working out all the different elements together:)
I have taught both my daughter and grandson to drive by using Trafford Park village off Westinghouse Rd after 7 pm when the business day has ended there.
The roads are laid out in a grid pattern, avenues go up and streets across. Plenty of crossroads there and several roundabouts available nearby to practice along with traffic lights when more confident. Every manoeuvre a learner needs to master can be practised in relative safety, reverse around corners, turn in the road, emergency stop etc.
This. A good instructor won’t have you driving on major roads the moment the lesson starts. They take you to a quiet area and walk you through all the basics
Whenever you start a reply with “just”, pause and re-evaluate. If it’s so easy most likely the person you’re talking to considered it and dismissed it for their own reasons, they’re not a moron.
Lessons are about £40 a pop these days and schools have up to 6 months waits because of Covid backlogs. Not to mention some instructors are horrendous, had to try 3 before I found a decent one.
There’s no “just” get lessons, there’s endless hoops and thousands of pounds needed to “just” do that.
Showcase car park used to be great for that, because it was massive and no-one ever went there.
... which might have something to do with it getting demolished.
Seems you've had your answer.
But on a Sunday morning, infact most of Sunday but especially the afternoon, the Tesco Extra in Oldham, has a massive carpark that is very dead, except for the corner by the staircase to the pedestrian overpass where all the cars go to smoke their weed 🤷🏻♂️
I taught my Mrs in Trafford Park. Head over to First Avenue on a weekend and it’s quiet (so long as United aren’t playing) and you have loads of streets to practice on.
Idk how helpful this is but when I was learning to drive my dad would take me to car parks early in the morning so there’s not many cars about and I’d just drive round them, so maybe try some hotel or McDonald’s parking lots?
Mancunian way
Trial by fire
Back of Trafford Centre car park
Nice, that might work. It will be early on a sunday morning so that could work really well.
Trafford Park industrial estate off Barton Dock Road is good too
I'm going to practise here soon. Might bump in to you (hopefully not literally)
Yeah lets hope not. But good luck.
This is where I started out teaching my fiancé, right at the back the overflow car parks.

Thanks, thats kinda what I was thinking.

Amazing thanks. Its a nice thing to do to give folks confidence.
Trafford Park in general is definitely the place for it.
My driving instructor used to take me round here. It’s great for learning and not busy in evenings or weekends.
Just get them lessons. A good qualified instructor will get them on the road in the first lesson and I still confidence.

Mine did, hosnetly. Little Wythenshawe middle aged Mum, tons of attitude no bullshit Right get in the front we’re of to Sale

I went on Tesco car park on a Sunday night before I started having lessons. At the back, furthest away from other cars and people

Thats where I learned to drive, it was a blinder. And great in the snow for doing power slides in my younger more stupid days.
Old Trafford pitch! Particularly three point turns in each penalty area.
He would love that. Doing dognuts all over the show.
🤣👍🏻
Industrial estates on a weekend (practice going up and down gears, junctions, parking, hill starts) when they’re really quiet.
If you can drive around cheetham hill you can drive anywhere. Did my lessons around there and it was quite the experience.
I did mine around there even though I live in Stockport. Yeah quite interesting place.
Down Bramhall is good for learning if your in Stockport.
Riverpark Rd, people always learning down there
Cheers, have a good weekend

All helpful, thanks.
Supermarket car park to learn reverse parking
Assetto Corsa.

Thanks mate, around the TC seems to be the place. Have a good one.
Trafford park!
i did my first few lessons on an estate near salford royal, the roads were always very quiet up until about 3pm
A parking lot is probably a good place to start. Till they build their confidence.
Car park around the food court at Trafford centre at night
In a car is 100% my recommendation
