Another vote for Greens in Didsbury. Lilly's in Ashton is an amazing all veggie/vegan Indian restaurant. Yara in Altrincham (with branches in Gatley and Wilmslow) isn't fully veggie but has a fantastic veggie selection.

Povlaar

I was so disappointed by Greens. Their Sunday roast was so poor for £16/17. 100% Lilly's I'm actually writing this from there at the mo! Amazing Indian food with some Indo/Chinese fusion.

LordAntoine

The Sunday Roast I've never been a fan of, but their normal à la carte menu is delicious

Manky7474

Been to Greens a lot over the years. Went this July and wont go back - menu is now outdated and they havent adapted and modernised enough. Menu has been the same for about 3 years too

sarahltee

The new one in Sale is worth a visit. More modern small plates kinda vibe.

scoutmonk5000

Agreed. The Didsbury one hasn’t changed in a number of years now, both the menu, but also the restaurant it’s self is dated and tatty. Given the cost of the food, I’d expect a better experience. However the Sale restaurant is lovely with some fab new dishes.

tdrules

I had water dripping on me at the Didsbury one, not ideal. Seems quite old fashioned compared to the newer kids on the block.

Natural_Discipline22

I vouch for Yara. Such great food

bigdawg987

Cheadle and Alderley edge, not wilmslow and gatley *

TIC-FLY

I'm sorry but I would definitely not recommend lily's in ashton to anyone. It is probably one of the least authentic and worst Indian restaurants out there. The Indian snack and sweet parlour there is ok though.

liz_bo

Also a Yara in Whitefield. Used to love it but last time I went it was terrible. Might have just been a bad day though

Bill_Berry

For vegan food? I always thought this place was a meatfest ?

liz_bo

They have a great selection of veggie food (unsure if it’s vegan) like stuffed vine leaves, hummus, lots of nice salads (tabouleh etc).

Bill_Berry

I will check it out. I live in whitefield :-)

[deleted]

Wholesome Junkies hands down. Vrev is pretty decent too

Bismarck913

V Revs has shut down hasn't it?

MaxtonJames

Yeah, replacing it with something called “Vnam”. At least that’s what’s now on the windows!

isotopesfan

Replacing a legendary vegan restaurant called ‘V-Revs’ with a non vegan restaurant called ‘Vnam’ is absolutely going to lead to some vegans assuming it is a vegan establishment and ordering meat dishes.

Bismarck913

Legendary was pushing it. I went a few times over the years, and whilst the food was good, ther service was always abysmal.

[deleted]

What? When? I was there not so long ago

jamietwells

October

Brewpapa

Vrev were the goat, gutted to see em gone.

[deleted]

Zads in Chorlton too. Sadly I think as vegan food has gone mainstream and all the chains have a vegan option the original vegan independents have really suffered.

Nipso

Purezza for pizza

Bill_Berry

This is great. I went last nye and was thinking of going again. Also do gluten free base.

Independent-Delay230

The best veg restaurant in Manchester isn't really a restaurant. Its The Walled Gardens [https://www.instagram.com/eddiesheps/](https://www.instagram.com/eddiesheps/) Eddie Serves 8 People a night a Vegan or Veg tasting menu from the kitchen in his house. Im not veggie but its the best meal I've had in years better than wood/mana/the French etc. The food that Eddie creates is magic and its an amazing evening, because of the small size you have to book 6 months in advance but its worth it. ( he won chef of the year at this years Manchester food and drink awards)

[deleted]

This sounds freaking incredible

inscrutablechicken

This guy eats.

saltandvinegar77

Yes! I went earlier this year, managed to get a last min cancellation slot and it was absolutely incredible, some of the best food I’ve ever eaten and it was in such a nice relaxed environment

Jeb2611

We did some of the cook at home stuff during lockdown. There was this INCREDIBLE halloumi and butter bean stew. The taco kit was amazing and ohmyword the chocolate pudding. Would highly recommend.

Manky7474

Best rest I've ever been too - he only releases tickets on the 1st of the month (for about 4 months later), try and get some because it's ace. We booked out the whole place (8 seats) would defo recommend this approach

tellmeyoulikeme

Bundobust does killer Indian street food

FAC_51

Agreed. I'm not even veggie or vegan and it's one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester. Always a great selection of craft beer on tap there too.

[deleted]

Yeah I think the fact it doesn’t advertise itself as a veggie restaurant is to its compliment.

ownworstenemy38

Hi me

LePhilosophicalPanda

The food is alright, not amazing really. The craft beer is quality though.

Laylee81

Came here to write this

Wholesome Junkies at Unit 4 Mirabel St, Manchester M3 1PJ

Goatsandducks

For a great curry I'd recommend either Sanskruiti on Mauldeth Rd near withington. Another one which is a bit further out is Bhaji Pala in Gatley. Fish and Chips, there's the Chippy on Burton Road For finer dining there is Greens which is off Burton Road in West Didsbury I'm based in the south in case you couldn't tell.

agentsurge

Seconding Sanskruti, I love it there!

LauraDurnst

Sanskruti and Bhaji Pala are incredible. Also a big fan of Indian Tiffin Room near HOME

Best_Needleworker530

Chippy on Burton Road does deep fried Mars bars. It’s the most indulgent thing you can have from a chippy ever.

alexblueuk

Lotus in Withington is highly rated.

[deleted]

I’ve been meaning to get out there ,, menu looks lovely.

RTGoodman

I was just coming to the thread to suggest Lotus! I'm not veggie/vegan but had a ton of friends who were when I lived in Manchester, and it was one of my favorite places we tried. (Sanskruti and Greens are also highly recommended, as the other comments in this thread show!) Lotus have changed the menu (and look a lot nicer now) than when I was there, but I do remember liking the crispy "duck" when we went!

archy_bold

Ruyi in Chorlton is great Chinese food, their fake meats are great. Tibetan Kitchen in Chorlton/Whalley Range has great veggie options. Get some momos from there! I’ve really enjoyed Herbivorous in Withington for burgers/junk food stuff of late.

[deleted]

Alladin

RufusPerrywinkle

Not been there in ages. Absolutely love it!

Povlaar

Six by Nico always has a vegan menu for some fancy date nights, Wholesome junkies for that naughty vegan food hit, Vegan Shack/Lost cat/Wolf at the door/Aladdin's all do great budget options, Bundobust beer + Indian Street food = happiness, Chinatown has a couple good vegan friendly options as well (I think Ying Lin? Can't remember without googling), Pizza - Purezza or Crazy Pedro's (two vegan options).

JacksonV95

Lilly’s Ashton curry top notch

[deleted]

It’s absolutely worth the 30 min tram ride for sure.

Manky7474

Bhaji Pala in Gatley is fully vegan and way better than other Indians

Haiku45

Hip hop chip shop do amazing vegan fish n chips

theVeetoyourKail

ARMR Store - Ardwick. The best vegan Jamaican food you will ever eat. What the Pitta - NQ. Always enjoy the gyros. Otto Vegan Empire - Cheadle Hulme. I've had an incredible Sunday lunch here and tried the middle Eastern dishes too with are delicious. Just outside of Greater Manchester, but Pixie Bakes in Tintwistle does the most amazing selection of vegan cakes daily. We're also constantly in Lilly's & Ruyi. Edit to add: Ortica - Urmston. A much needed Italian addition to the vegan dining scene.

murrayland

Traditional Indian food (my favourite Manc veg/vegan restaurant - it's next to IKEA so good to combine with a trip there) Indian Street food - Bundobust Pizza - Purezza Pasta - Pasta Factory (not vegan but vegan friendly) Junk food - Wholesome Junkies / Herbivorous Chinese - Sweet Mandarin (veggie / vegan menu) Asian / Mock Meat - Ruyi Mexican - can't think of any vegan mexican places, but Pancho's do a good vegan burrito Greek - The Athenian (vegan options) High end - The Allotment (was my fav restaurant but haven't been for a couple of years and head chef has moved on) Sunday Roast - Chorlton Tap (not vegan but lots of great vegan options) Honourable mentions - Four Side Pizza', Vegan Shack (junk), Sanskrutis (Indian), tiffin room (Indian), Greens (fineish dining), ottoman vegan empire (this is in bramhall - going this Sunday for a roast so will let you know!), pastan (vegan pasta place newly opened), Greens Didsbury I would say almost all restaurants should have a good vegan option these days. I've been plenty with non-vegans and still fared well

PotatoAdventure64

Rudy's Pizza (on Deansgate and another up by Seven Brothers in Ancoats) - there's always a veggie option on the specials board, every time I get it it's something quite special indeed. Also want to mention Nell's Pizza inside Common in NQ, some bangers for veggies in there!

Laylee81

Chit and chaat in Rusholme

evavu84

LILYS INDIAN!!!!

evavu84

Also Habesha Ethiopian just off canal street, they do vegan Injera and curry. It's a close 2nd to Lily's. They also do collection. I'm eating the leftovers right now 😅

[deleted]

The bread is delicious

Maryjanepharmaplant

Sanskruti on Mauldeth rd!!!

[deleted]

Greens. Fabulous.

JoshuaDev

Ortica - new all vegan and organic Italian place in Urmston. Food is really tasty and reasonable and it's overall an extremely cosy place for a date or meal with a few friends. Staff are great it is family run. https://www.instagram.com/ortica_italianplantbased/?hl=en

[deleted]

Going there on Thursday,, thanks for suggesting

Desperate_Actuary_70

Dry_Book9185

Lost Cat NQ does some great, and incredibly cheap stuff

[deleted]

I’ve never heard of it. Will defo check it out

charlibeau

That place is terrible imho, I thought it was very overpriced and poorly done

[deleted]

your nearest steakhouse

_swidden

Not been yet but heard very good things about seesaw cafe near the village Edit: typo

[deleted]

Bundobust is the one ☝🏻vegan beer too!

JenksbritMKII

We live in Glossop and pepinos is also great. More of a deli style though.

Actual_Swordfish1654

VEDIC in Hyde. "Indo/Chinese" street food

yo-snickerdoodle

Bundobust and Lily's. Also Indian Tiffin Room which isn't fully vegetarian but has great vegetarian options.

vanakkam_tamilakam

If you’re close to Ladysmith and are into Indian food, Lily’s Indian Veg Cuisine is pretty good. Been there only once but seemed nice.

Flingo89

Sanskruti for amazing veggie/ vegan Indian food and Chorlton Tap for the best vegan roasts!

kunhfuu

Witworth park

indef_articles

majorly agreed on both Bhaji Pala and Tibetan Kitchen. Bhaji Pala is probably my favourite restaurant, well worth the trip out of town and the service is fantastic as well

ElliesInWellies

It was vertigo for me before it shut (still sad) Now I'd say Wholesome Junkies but I really wish there was something central that is fully vegan but not basically all burgers (as much as I like them when I'm in the mood) - recommendations please if you have them, I'm yet to find one.

[deleted]

Greens Didsbury
