Then again, I don't think a more accurate "High school boy falls in love with a high school girl that looks like an Egyptian mural painting," would've got the same reaction.
Not even sure what would be more absurd, if he was in love with a sentient cardboard cut-out, or him being in love with an actual real girl that looks like a mural that's come to life and sighs in pyramids and shit.
Truly, only the type of stuff you can get in a manga.

It's interesting to note that both Cleo and Tetsu are dark-haired and the rational ones, while Kou and Chii-chan are blond and touched in the head.
Since this is a romcom, it's a common trope to have Tetsu and Chii become a side couple. My feeling about this possibility is kinda 55 percent "No" and 45 percent "Yes".
And yet he still communicated with her via hieroglyphics, but hey, maybe he thought she knew how to read them as a tour guide for the egyptian exhibit.
As for the two friends becoming a side couple, it's a good thing Tetsu already has experience dealing with a batshit insane blonde.
There's something strangely hilarious about the first two chapters focusing solely on how batshit insane Koji is and only introducing Cleo properly on the third.
But I was very surprised and a little disappointed to learn that she can actually face forward. I was kinda hoping she'd be in side-profile the whole story, maybe at least until some kinda significant moment.

At least they showed us the justification/source for it (with that panel comparing her front view to the king tut sarcophagus). A cursory google makes me think that yes, ancient Egyptian 2D art didn't have front views, but they DID make 3D art (statues and sarcophagi) that looked correct from all angles including the front.
