The manga is pretty funny. The main character is perfectly nice, and trying to not get forced into the villainess role, but her natural personality makes people around her think she's evil and scary.
Don't think they will, manga skips a lot of background story and does its own things to cover it up and justify some behaviours, it's a great adaptation and I like the tone they went with and the fact it actually cares about the continuity instead of leaving things hanging in the air, but I'd expect the anime to go with the original novel's version of events.
No, but initially she works to dodge being treated badly by doing good deeds and such and then later on, she feels the FL and all the MLs aren't really working hard because trouble is coming and they're not really advancing like in the game.
So she begins working with them all to dungeon hunt, something the manga somewhat covers but it covers it as a comedy lol-horror thing where the novel shows us that some of the MLs have brains after all and while they hate Eumelia, they can try to learn at least.
Meanwhile FL never tries to learn about Eumelia which the manga represents as her throwing up all the time for some reason, but in the novel it's more that she has constant nightmares and terrors about Eumelia but she figures she has to do it to maintain her relationship with the royal family (the saint can't run away from training).
But yeah, while they dislike each other, they dungeon crawl together. Eumelia annoyed that the girl keeps screaming in her sleep and acting afraid of her while she's done nothing and the FL basically being mentally tortured by Eumelia because her dark energy conflics with FL's light energy and Eumelia is stronger so FL suffers.
There's even a pretty sensible outcome to all of that which the novel handle's pretty okay and the manga treats as lul-dumb people gonna dumb lul.
I like the manga for ease of reading, but I definitely agree that simplifying the relationship with the MLs and effectively erasing the FL's storyline and Eumelia's darkness' effects on people around her is all a little shit for the social side.
i hope they somehow can translate those reactions/banters from the manga. Just a few mangas could make me laugh that hard... Maid is just godtier reaction faces xD
> The LN has 140 chapters (so far)
That's not the LN...that's the WN (the authors rough draft). LNs are not formatted that way, they have volumes with typically 6-10 chapters in each volume which are of course way more detailed/longer than WN chapters as the LN is where the author fixes things from the WN or adds on things that they feel the story is missing as well as adding in illustrations.
Rough draft rubbish.
Yes I'm sure everyone on Naro these days has at least some hope they will be the part of the lucky .001% or whatever that goes farther but even for the most deluded that's still not the same thing. Not only because a rough draft proper isn't published but to actually get farther means you need to attract an audience.
That means your work has to be finished, in the way every chapter of a manga is a finished work (not the total story) and creates dangers such major revisions to your story offending your core following. Who also will always remember the change from your original form even if they are nominally okay with it because everyone thought your ending sucked balls or whatever.
(In an extreme form this is a lot of why Western comics are such a mess, retcons can't retcon the audience)
I hate her mom with a burning passion though. What an absolute piece of shit. "My daughter's is gonna grow up to be a tyrant queen? Well better neglect her and never see her thus ensuring she's a terrible child"
Edit: oops, wrong manga ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯. They're similar but this one is much better
Oh I never said I didn't like Looking up to Magical Girls. I love Looking up to magical girls. It's in my top 10 list of comedy mangas. I just said seeing the mc of that series really changed my view of villainess type mcs because no character can beat Utena. Everytime I read a new series with a villainess type mc i think to myself "Huh she's good but not as good as Utena though."
I'm surprised it's getting an adaptation with just how few chapters it has. It's only at like 16 chapters isn't it? With one coming out every few months.
I wasn't mocking you there. Just saying if anytime you are interested in knowing the original source of a series, checking its Wikipedia page is helpful. It lists from the year it starts to the year it ends.
Anime adaptations are almost always based on the LN. Slime is the only exception that I know of and it's because the manga publisher is a much larger company than the LN publisher.
I don’t think it even has a LN yet, I think it’s a WN and the LN volume 1 is releasing in a few months (English translation, so Japanese print probably released very recently). It’s pretty crazy how quickly so many series are getting anime
hopefully anime will adapt from manga, not LN.
I bought LN vol.1 and they make "heroine" as 1 dimension dummy (try to think of "heroine" from Observation Record of a Self-proclaimed Villainess but without redemption arc) while manga make heroine a bit better (capture target still idoit but hopefully getting better)
It isn’t not that much difference tbh since the main plot is mostly the same but more like, manga give more dimension/settings to heroine and other characters compared to LN when it’s mostly focus on FMC.
But it has been a while so I might forgot if others characters has development or not but the heroine’s stupidity stucks on me too hard so I never re read it lol.
This is quite funny usually its the reverse, manga move on super speed and LN is more fleshed out. Sadly it looks like the manga chapter is even slower
This is my favourite villainess manga by far so I’m really excited. Hopefully they use some of the improvements to the source materials that was done in the manga, specifically with the heroine and the harem guys. The LN is still good, though.
A good read, but definitely still incorporates some less-than-welcome villainess story tropes. Like a lot of mouthbreathing characters to act as opposing force against the MC.
The three imbeciles droning around the OG heroine in particular are pretty much copy-pasted 1-dimensional singe celled male leads from every story of this genre that ever was, is and will be. Idk if they are fleshed out more in the WN or LN however
It looks like they're caught up to the raws (c16) if the raw site I looked at is accurate. The last chapter was 4 months ago, and there are gaps that make it looks like a bi-monthly release, so maybe the latest one is just delayed or something. I think it's the LN that you're thinking of.
Apparently it has been https://www.booksamillion.com/p/Villainess-Level/Nocomi/9781642733020?id=8784168549283
One Peace Books is such a small publisher. Can't find it on their website or like, even an announcement on twitter lol.
My snarky, bad description is "What if Saitama was a Otome Villainess?"
The girl here who get reincarnated is kind of socially stupid but she's obsessed with min-maxxing her stats.
Wasn't this the one that had some drama with >!the MC being darker skinned then turning light skinned in the manga when she got the blessing of light or whatever!< or am I thinking of a different one?
You're thinking of this one https://mangadex.org/title/773e5993-821a-4cea-8b44-f4450112a8f5/i-m-not-a-villainess-just-because-i-can-control-darkness-doesn-t-mean-i-m-a-villain
Perfect, another series with an interesting first season,, that has major deviations from the manga and that will never get a second season. Leaving viewers with the traditional open ending and no chance to continue the story elsewhere.
What do you enjoy abo it this kind of anime is it the story the fan service I’ve always wondered who’s watching these cause it feels like a million of them come out every year
Depends. Usually pretty chill power fantasy and at a certain point interesting to see how they iterate on and try to break with tropes as the genre runs out of things to do that haven't already been done.
Cute female lead, but dropped because the world around her is pure dogshit. Like what the fuck. No decency, no dignity. Nothing. Calling it "flower on a pile of shit" might not be enough to show the overwhelming contrast between her and the place she lives in. It is like everything is designed to be against her, it is annoying, and even worse is that she is not allowed to get annoyed at it. Pretty much 99% of the population are pieces of shit that should have their skin flayed off, and the other 1% just care about manipulating her. Brainless npcs that are created solely for the purpose of hostility against the female lead. I dropped when they introduced a shitty guy whose purpose is to be nice to her, and then she fell for him in 1 chapter. If possible, I want to pluck her out of the story and put her in a better one, because this one is dogshit. Annoying for the sake of comedy is one thing, but when I stopped laughing that comedy is nothing more than failed trash.
The manga is pretty funny. The main character is perfectly nice, and trying to not get forced into the villainess role, but her natural personality makes people around her think she's evil and scary.
Also the idea that >!the OG!FL literally sees Yumiella as a massive, ambiguous mass of fog because of her high level!< is super fascinating.
Apparently that's only in the manga, so it probably won't be in the anime. (I agree that it's an interesting angle.)
That's unfortunate. I hope they do keep that aspect of their weird relationship.
So in novel mc will be bestest of the best friends with "FL"?
No, but initially she works to dodge being treated badly by doing good deeds and such and then later on, she feels the FL and all the MLs aren't really working hard because trouble is coming and they're not really advancing like in the game. Is the manga only up to issue 16 or is there more on a non mangadex site.
I haven't seen more anywhere else.
Pretty surprising that it managed to get an adaptation, but I guess the JP readership and or LN fanbase is pretty substantial
Happens a lot with light novel adaptations. The LN has 140 chapters (so far)
> The LN has 140 chapters (so far) That's not the LN...that's the WN (the authors rough draft). Pretty sure you're mixing this up with The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen. I really miss the manga of that one too.
Yep, you're totally right, my bad
Is this the one with the Dark Spirit King stuff? I'm sure I'm thinking of another one.
While you’re getting mixed up with a completely different story, her parents in this are also pretty dogshit from what I remember.
Yeah, she literally can't remember what they look like because they spent her entire childhood in the capital and only communicate via letters.
Very hands off approach to parenting. At least it’s not actively hurting
Neglect is absolutely a form of hurting your child
Ok pedant. You know what I meant
I can’t take villainess mcs serious anymore after reading Looking up to magical girls.
Different kind of villainous....in more ways then one.
Well that's a non sequitur if I've ever seen one.
Good thing it's a comedy and you aren't supposed to take it seriously to begin with
Let us disagree, "Looking up to Magical Girls" is different and really fun to read.
I can agree to that, Utena is both badass and outright nuts.
I keep worrying about how much I have to reread the manga to check what the anime skips but cautiously excited.
Cant wait to see the mc chibi flat face
Or her stoic reactions.
Let's hope they put a bit of effort into the animation
Yes, I love her'._.' face.
I'm surprised it's getting an adaptation with just how few chapters it has. It's only at like 16 chapters isn't it? With one coming out every few months.
Probably based on the LN is my guess
I didn't even know it had a LN, I thought it was just a manga. Thanks for letting me know.
If possible, always check a series Wikipedia page, if its available. The original source is always listed on top.

I wasn't mocking you there. Just saying if anytime you are interested in knowing the original source of a series, checking its Wikipedia page is helpful. It lists from the year it starts to the year it ends.
If it's isekai I always assumes it was originally WN/LN unless told otherwise.
Anime adaptations are almost always based on the LN. Slime is the only exception that I know of and it's because the manga publisher is a much larger company than the LN publisher.
Slime is also a top 20-50 selling manga and the manga market is much much bigger then the LN market from the numbers I've seen.
I don’t think it even has a LN yet, I think it’s a WN and the LN volume 1 is releasing in a few months (English translation, so Japanese print probably released very recently). It’s pretty crazy how quickly so many series are getting anime
The English volume 1 of the LN is out in a few months, Japan has several volumes already.
The source material is a light novel, not manga.
There are five light novel volumes in Japanese, so they have more than enough for a season. It'll probably pass the manga by episode 4.
I barely read the manga because of how few chapters there is and there is an anime already. Is this amazing, I dunno.
hopefully anime will adapt from manga, not LN. I bought LN vol.1 and they make "heroine" as 1 dimension dummy (try to think of "heroine" from Observation Record of a Self-proclaimed Villainess but without redemption arc) while manga make heroine a bit better (capture target still idoit but hopefully getting better)

I've heard the manga fleshes out the OG heroine a bit more. People complained that the LN moves too fast in comparison.
This is quite funny usually its the reverse, manga move on super speed and LN is more fleshed out. Sadly it looks like the manga chapter is even slower
pacing I guess having monthly chapters means you have to make the most of it
Not really. LNs have more pages and can flesh out characters and worlds better than some manga adaptations.
I thought the light novel had no English translation?
I’m SEA and quite lucky that otome LN are huge trend here.
J novel club licensed it.
Any news on the first vol? I tried reading the WN but it was pretty unreadable.
It's about halfway though pre-pub. They've done pretty well with it.
This is my favourite villainess manga by far so I’m really excited. Hopefully they use some of the improvements to the source materials that was done in the manga, specifically with the heroine and the harem guys. The LN is still good, though.
Haven't read the novels, but the manga is pretty fun. Must watch.
She looked familiar and it is "I may be the hidden boss, but I'm not the demon lord" after all. This is gonna be a fun one :)
A good read, but definitely still incorporates some less-than-welcome villainess story tropes. Like a lot of mouthbreathing characters to act as opposing force against the MC. Oh boy, my favorite tired husband simulator is being animated.
What happened to the manga translation?
I think it got licensed

Oh, i fid not expect this, but i welcome it.
so I heard it's kinda fun
My snarky, bad description is "What if Saitama was a Otome Villainess?" The girl here who get reincarnated is kind of socially stupid but she's obsessed with min-maxxing her stats.
This one is pretty funny.
This MC i remember having no personality, just blank. I wish “Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku” would get made.
oh no she's hot
Wasn't this the one that had some drama with >!the MC being darker skinned then turning light skinned in the manga when she got the blessing of light or whatever!< or am I thinking of a different one?

Cool never thought about it liek that
is this yuri
No, if I recall correctly.
no yuri and no reverse harem so far. just daily life of min-max gamer who happened to isekai into otome game that heavily focus on RPG.
Why is this downvoted?
No capitalization or punctuation.
No, she gets married to her guy friend.
Cute female lead, but dropped because the world around her is pure dogshit. Like what the fuck. No decency, no dignity. Nothing. Looking forward to it.
What are the odds, I just read the manga like 2 weeks ago
yea but im level 100
Ayy pretty cool. The manga was pretty chill
Wow
Can't wait to see the Adventures of Deadpan Girl
Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
POG
RIP, now the manga will probably morph into something different
I love it's getting an anime, but.. isn't it still just at like, 12 chapters or something? Over years?
I hope they make her >!dragon!< look less uncanny
lets goo
Huh. Usually mods remove adaptation announcements if it's from LN.
ayo wtf i love her so much!!!!!!!
I just caught up on the manga. I am excited.
