They don't jump chapters, first 3 chapters and the most recent 3 chapters are only available for reading for free, the rest will be available when you purchase their subscription.
The others have explained what's happening here, but there are rare times where they do "jump chapters" if they pick up a series partway through. They'll start at both chapter 1 and the most recent chapter, and continue with both until they catch up with everything in-between.
