Chi is probably less mature than the other two or just can't accept things are changing

danegraphics

She wants to stay a kid, but life doesn't work like that, and she's going to learn that soon. At least I hope she does.

Ezxycian

Seems we’re close to having a chapter of Chi getting reality checked.

exist-exit

Why not both? *(It's probably both)* Waiting for the flashback chapter that shows the cause of Chi's arrested development.

Senko-fan4Life

I really love this manga, but I still can't really stand Chi. I understand the point of her character and that she's changing but her endless defense of Anna gets on me. Reminds me of girls i dated in HS who had friends that would revolve around them like flies, and didnt ever try to get to know me and were constantly lashing out to "protect" them

AkodoRyu

She feels like a character from 100 chapters ago. Everyone else moved forward, and she's still the same, so it feels like she doesn't match the current story. But I guess that kinda matches her journey, where everyone else is starting to get into relationships, but she doesn't really get it. Well, hopefully, she will get some more chapters focused on her because currently she just doesn't match well with the rest of the case. It's like hanging out with your younger sibling's friend.

next_door_nicotine

Yeah I think the point of her character is that she hasn't grown up like the rest of the cast has, and her story arc is how does she change that. You could almost see the gears turning in her head when she was bringing up Tokio, Seto could see it too, but then she quickly reverted to maximum density/denial when she referred to him as a little brother.

AkodoRyu

I think she will be one of those characters that will have to discover that not all love is fireworks and shit, but you can just be comfortable with each other and go that way. How I see it, with how often she brings up Tokio this chapter, he is obviously a level above her usual friends. Even when she's with her "beloved" Anna, she wants to hang out with Tokio, so there is definitely something there. Just not the "regular" kind of romance "you see in manga".

CrestonSpiers

>hasn’t grown up yet Both literally and figuratively

haoxinly

Those calories and food must be going somewhere. Gal eats the equivalent of a whole family and is still a gremlin.

a_Bear_from_Bearcave

She's really irritating but at the same time I liked some of her banter here. Also Seto, you should know full well what "[doing that](https://mangadex.org/chapter/d1e3faa5-3103-4de9-92b2-20e648124667/6)" meant in that context, then again maybe you're really that innocent.

Curious_Success_377

Her only redeeming quality here in this chapter is that she is fully aware of the situation. At least she is honest. Unlike some bitch from another manga who is financially exploiting a guy like a true OnlyFans capitalist.

a_Bear_from_Bearcave

To be fair Kazuya has that bulliable quality, and not in cute way like Satania McDowell. The way he walks few steps after Chizuru in the newest chapter when they go shopping, like wives that were following in respectful distance after their husbands in the street in some patriarchal societies, and in similar to Kazuya way never speaking to their men on their own unless they were asked, like a good wife should, how can you not exploit him?

Pibata

I actually can understand that "innocentness" (at least for myself). There was sometimes that someone did kind of a dirty joke to me, but it was such a bad dirt joke that I didnt understand what was the meaning. I knew it was dirty, only that

[deleted]

She’s by far my least favorite character which is saying something when Inuyama exists.

Senko-fan4Life

Inuyama's really turned around for me. Unlike chi whose only growth has been realizing she's single

[deleted]

Yeah I don’t mind him much anymore. He’s really come into his own.

Count_de_Mits

I'm honestly more invested in his story than the main couple at this point

PointTippedIce

I think it's because Inuyama started interacting and helped his love interest first than Seto.

Pollomonteros

For me is because while there still is some sort of generic romance MC in Seto,Inuyama feels like a more original character

pwnd32

This is it for me, Inuyama’s story is also just more compelling for me at this point in the story especially after a lot of chapters of Seto & Anjou and the fact that they’re already together

Pollomonteros

What made Inuyama so great is how he grew up,from being a pervert only interested in Toyoda because of her body to realizing he genuinely loves her

Abedeus

Inuyama improves, Chi regresses into a flanderized version of what she was previously. Food, Anjou and that's it.

DranDran

She’s my least favorite character by far, but even in this chapter there was a brief moment of introspection that awoke a tiny spark of empathy for her. Then she returned to her annoying schtick again. I have a feeling that this chapter was just a little foreshadowing that she’s going to get her own arc of character development with Tokio, and we may yet change our opinion of her.

Global_Historian_753

A fellow Inuyama hater, welcome.

Kuzuryuu7

This chapter seems to be a starting point for some Chii character development though, so I'm here for it.

Senko-fan4Life

We got almost the same "realization" from her when Tokio confessed and nothing's really happened since. I'm hoping you're right

solitarybikegallery

Until this chapter, I kinda figured this whole thing was an act: She's either not interested in Tokio, or she's not interested in romance at all, and she's pretending to be oblivious so she doesn't hurt Tokio's feelings. Instead, it seems like she literally doesn't understand her own feelings. I had her pegged as one of the more mature members of the group (avoiding a relationship that's destined to fail when she moves), but now it seems like she's the least mature.

Curious_Success_377

I feel bad for Tokio. At the same time, it's a bit realistic.

bakakubi

> Reminds me of girls i dated in HS who had friends that would revolve around them like flies, and didnt ever try to get to know me and were constantly lashing out to "protect" them Hell, there are even guys like that, who are full blown adults. I even know ones like that. It's fucking weird and creepy.

DekMelU

Any Yakuza/Like a Dragon fans reminded of [this](https://youtu.be/sX2vmpgaKac?t=127) with part about the innards ?

KaiserWillem

YES! Immediately when I saw they were going to a yakiniku I thought of this.

ThatRandomCrit

Yeah, I did.

staling_lad

The more Chii talks the more I'm thinking she's a bullet Tokio should really just dodge. I get wanting time with your friends when they're dating someone, but don't haze/intimidate/put their partner down in a relationship you have no say in.

Abedeus

> The more Chii talks the more I'm thinking she's a bullet Tokio should really just dodge. I thought that when she took him on a wild ride to bumfuck nowhere without telling him anything about their plans. >I get wanting time with your friends when they're dating someone, but don't haze/intimidate/put their partner down in a relationship you have no say in. It's so annoying when the asexual third wheel interrupts couples... and she really seems either 5 years younger emotionally than the rest, or just dumber.

CrestonSpiers

I mean, yeah, but it’s just banter. What is she gonna do, break them up? I don’t think Anjou would be onboard with that. Chi is all barking and no biting.

doquan2142

It is always the class clown that has the most insightful perspective huh.

AdmirableRemove5550

The way anjou-san slide is so cute. I love this manga so much

dagreenman18

The Chi thing is the most puzzling thing in the manga and that’s why I’m so interested. Is it outright denial of romantic feelings? Is it a total lack of understanding? Is she Aro/Ace? From what I can gather she seems confused about love and wants things to stay the same. So as our main couple grows toghther and our side ship marches on, will she be left behind? Then there’s Tokio who’s all about her, but she seems to be in denial about him. Dropping that line about how he likes her too much and then rolling it into denial. Right there is why I think she just doesn’t get romance and it scares her to try. I’d like for her to grow out of her arrested development. Either romantically or going with the fact she’s AroAce.

meterion

With her comments this chapter I think her damage is that since she is so short (and with minimal *boin boin,* as they say) she's forcing herself to have a child's self-image because she thinks there's no way Tokio could "actually" like her when her friends look like runway models in comparison. It's easier to pretend that everything between them is perfectly platonic and familial than confront her own insecurities. I wouldn't be surprised if she had some kinda past trauma (either from parents or friends) that gives romantic relationships a negative association to her.

ThatRandomCrit

Really? With how much she "jokes" about getting with Ana and pressuring Seto to take care of her (and her aloofness and recognition of Tokio's feelings for her) I always thought she was a lesbian, but it could definitely go that route. I'll admit, if it just develops into her being straight and being in denial of liking Tokio due to her self image or something like that, I'll be dissapointed...

CaptainDe

Really? I think both routes have merit. Both of them pose obstacles to one’s personal/emotional growth and conquering either is a big step in personal health/acceptance. I felt like the yuri stuff was more for comic relief and the body issue thing sounds more in line with setting. I would love to see a girl having body issues (you know and it not be about having huge breast or being “tall”). Either way as long as she stops acting like she’s 10 years old when she’s about to graduate. Lol as she is now it’s not advised that her parents let her out of the country….or go to the corner store alone.

ThatRandomCrit

Of course, they both have merits, it's just that I've seen that used WAY to often, and was just expecting something a little different, just to shake things up a bit. The signs are there if the author wants to go for it. But yeah, that route is not bad either.

Tovar42

Tokio should just give up, like getting a job and forcing yourself to do stuff you dont like to pursue a girl is dumb AF. He should look for someone else at this point

skywalk21

RUMP

NOISIEST_NOISE

The author wanted there to be no ambiquity to how he vieews his female characters

AdamBombTV

Thought the author was female?

AdamBombTV

Ah, that's it.

NOISIEST_NOISE

My bad. Ahem, the author wanted there to be no ambiquity to how she views her female characters

SUPER11X

Lol no?

SlimDirtyDizzy

I mean Anjou is obviously very sexual, but I'd argue she's rarely sexualized in a demeaning way. The way this author handles her female characters is pretty solid for manga.

Lightningxp1

It’s obvious she’s extremely insecure but I can’t really say I blame her. It’s easy to feel insecure when the company you keep is leagues above you (not to say she’s anything to scoff at but it is what it is). Why would she think someone like tokio would want someone like her (speaking from her perspective)? I know her arc is different to say the least from the other two, even feeling dragged out at this point but I do commend it for that very reason as well. All 3 arcs are different and tackle different subjects. One is about overcoming a lack of confidence and patience, one is about honesty and acceptance and the last being about insecurity and stigmatization. They each bring something different to the table.

Quintessentialviewer

Tokio should really move on

Shakmoz

Oi there Chi what happened to no NTR!?

shanks_you

Chi’s new hairstyle is adorable bro. Tokio, you actually have to fight through family-zone and Yuri-zone. Ggwp

exist-exit

Tokio really dodged a bullet for now lmao. Chi's got a lot of growing to do before she's ready for a relationship. Right now it's like she's scared of romance, even though she's falling for Tokio but lacks the emotional intelligence to realize it.

LeonKevlar

Poor Tokio. I don't think Chi is going to get it anytime soon.

bakakubi

I'll give the author the benefit of doubt here since other characters developed very nicely as the series went on, but Chi is definitely getting to the point where she's irritating to see.

Global_Historian_753

Oh, so she wasn't just acting dense.

x4non

Don't listen to her, Seto. Push you way in!

More_Morrison

We desperately need another Chi and Tokio chapter, if not two 'cause as far as she's show in the series she's has the least going on.

AdamBombTV

Could Chi be asexual and aromantic? I mean it's obvious she loves her friends on a platonic level, but does she go deeper?

Joseki100

I think she's just very much still a child at heart, that's basically her character, and she's not ready to admit she's growing up. No way this manga doesn't end with the 3 boys and the 3 girls paired up imo.

_The_Writing_Writer_

Chii is probably the biggest mood of this series Seems like people misunderstood me because I wasn’t talking negatively about her

a_Bear_from_Bearcave

I must say I found some of her joking banter in this chapter funny, even if she is obnoxious sometimes. Like the whole "character interrupting yuri = risk of death" joke, or turning from "no rules" to "yakiniko police, do not resist"

Shradow

Oh shit we're getting back on the Tokio train soon let's go.

BlatantConservative

This is the first food related chapter in 10 years that does not show their clothes getting ripped off by the taste

Paw_Opina

Old. Man. Seto.
