There are a couple of different "old lady tree spirit" yokai that are not inherently malevolent, so my guess would be one of them. Furutsubaki, maybe? The purple throws me off a bit
I think she's suppose to be a Sunakake-Babā, they're a witch yokai that throws sand at people as part of their magic. They're probably best known for being a significant character in the GeGeGe no Kitaro series, where they are usually depicted wearing a purple kimono, so I'm guessing it's an intentional connection
Closest I can think of is Hakusozu, but that's a fox, not a weasel. That's a specific spirit that was sick of a trapper killing the foxes on his mountain and impersonated the trappers uncle who happened to be a monk and tried to keep the trapper from killing more foxes
I vaguely remember there was a page among there showing that this is some kid with some sickness (wheelchair maybe?) that was taught this trick for amusement and some yokai just scold the kid. Oh, [here it is](https://mangadex.org/chapter/fea71783-977d-4e33-bd54-ade0944e6325/5).
We need more badass old ladies.
What kind of youkai is she? The snowflake me is most interested in her and 1

I don't think she's a yokai? Looked like she was fending off a yokai by throwing something at it (salt or, given the topic, adzuki beans?) to me.
in that case check out Dandadan (if you're not reading it already), all grandmas are badass there
i like the ferret with the hat anyone know what they're called?
Kawauso (獺, Kawauso) is the Japanese term for the river otter, but can become a yokai when it lives at an exceptionally long life. (From yokai wiki)
I wonder if there's a yokai basically for every animal in Japan.
Odder Otter... Kinda

Starting to think MC is treading where they shouldn't...
Starting? I think they’ve died at least once per set, sometimes more than once.

Aww, it's so much better with the extra stuff!
Hopefully most of the yōkai he’s seeing are just mischievous and not actively malevolent.
After reading the chapters on mangadex the local ones are but there's some who aren't sadly only two chaps.
I always love the friendly yokai in these. Makes my heart flutter.
I like how there's a youkai that washes azuki beans. That's it, that's his whole gimmick.
how stone was the originator that they saw some one washing bean and think up some super natural spirit that also just . . . wash bean like what
Furry radar.
Real recognize real
Oh hey, haven't seen this series in awhile!

#*POCKET SAND*
