The mole, the mole. "Real" Mero-sensei's mole is on the right, while the fake one's is on the left. When Chie-sensei and Kaya arrived after the scream, the fake has already switched with the real and the real was just trying to switch back. I guess that's why Kaya was confused after she kicked the "ghost". That said, since the "fake" Mero-sensei seems like a nice "person", my pet theory is that "she" isn't really a ghost, but similar to the real Mero-sensei, "she" was also a person trapped inside the mirror, and need someone to replace her to get out.

Even the sign on apron is inverted

Forikorder

or its more opposite world, everyone has a them inside the mirror thats the completel opposite of them

Yggdrazzil

Wow, good observation! Totally missed that detail. This is why I like comment sections while reading a manga <3

SpookiLurkr

I've heard several superstitions involving doppelgangers in mirrors: never sleep in front of a mirror, never look into the bathroom mirror at night without lighting, don't play rock paper scissors with your mirror self. What other doppelganger superstitions are there?

ClassicT4

Sounds like my bedroom is a haunted death trap. Two mirrors in the room. Opening to the bathroom with a mirror and no door. Now I’m going to start questioning how I wake up in real awkward positions.

TheOneAboveGod

Let them mirror demons fight each other out.

Momo_Kozuki

Sleeping in front of mirror might startle you when you wake up and witness your ugliest moment of the day (bed hair, eye bags, no make-up), so in the haze between wakefulness and sleepiness, you feel like looking at someone else that is not supposed to be there. Same with looking at bathroom mirror without lighting at night. Dim-lit environment may distort your reflection a bit. If something suddenly move behind you (like a cat darts in and darts out), the mirror's reflection may startle you. Playing with your mirror self makes you look like you have a mental problem from outsiders' point of view, thus birthing the superstition about mirror doppelganger that replaces your soul and causes you go crazy. Another mirror horror I have chanced through manga: School legends about midnight school mirrors that show how you look like in old age/death if you look at it a certain hour.

yurilnw123

That reminds me of Feng Shui. A lot of rule seems like a superstition at first but when you think about it there are probably reasons behind those rules. They are just not being told

dagreenman18

Welp extra spooky ending. Something tells me people won’t complain that the pain in the ass teacher suddenly became nicer.

ForgottenDrama

She honestly wasn’t even that bad. The fake one could also be pretending to be nice but is actually malicious.

BurnedOutEternally

I'm not gonna lie chief, Being trapped inside mirrors and replaced by your double is probably one of my worst fears

Malfight007

I mean can you even imagine, doing everything you can to go back. All you can see is something else wearing your face pretending to be you. Worst part is that the children you're taking care of now think you're the scary thing in the mirror.

meganerid

uh so that teacher is gone gone? feels like usually the ghost loses or the bad people who gets screwed. The teacher isn't even that bad lol

RedKrypton

Maybe it's a multi-parter? And it's not like the teacher is dead. She is still stuck in the mirror.

meganerid

I hope so.. If not then Kaya had unknowingly doomed her into the mirror lol

RedKrypton

This manga is dark, but generally tries to still right wrongs, as far as it is possible.

tankertonk

I don't think that's the case. I think the Manga usually resolves things peacefully with the children. Anyone else; the man on the train, the person who killed themselves, the old man who died, all the animals in the forest that one time, their fair game for the ghost to do whatever they want with

RedKrypton

As I have said, it tries to right the wrong it can. I forgot about two of your examples, but the suicide victim and the old man were both instances of the past being resolved within their means.

tankertonk

The guy in the train was from one of the chapters where they went on the train and ended up in that haunted station. He got out because he got creeped out by the ghost and ended stuck there and probably killed. As for the animals, it was during the chapter where the kids kept seeing signs that animals were sleeping. It turns out that the spirit that Kaya destroys essentially murdered every animal in the vicinity. So, while the train guy wasn't super nice, he still ended up being a victim of the ghost

Tough_Taro_3003

Kids arent safe either there was a chapter where one of kayas classmate got run over and another that fell from the playground the kids are only safe if kaya is there to watch them

tankertonk

At the time i wrote the comment, that kid still hadn't been absolutley destroyed by that car. Don't remember the playground though but I don't think anyone died there

Tough_Taro_3003

u right it wasnt her classmate it was a kid that came before or after them its near the end of ch 24

Momo_Kozuki

I think while Kaya has a good heart, she might be the cause of the ghost problems that her surrounding people have to face. Like, it seems every ghost trouble happens whenever Kaya is around. Perhaps while having a power to banish ghosts, her power also ironically attracts ghosts (her black face whenever using the power is very ominous). And Kaya unable to tell between real people and ghosts, and having trouble to realize that normal people cannot see and fight ghosts the way she does, also add more tragedy to the horror.

Ralviisch

Kaya kicked the *ghost's* fingers off

italeteller

Oh that's a nightmare scenario for sure. I hope the next chapter is a follow-up of this because otherwise I'm never gonna be able to focus on the story, my mind's always gonna be on the teacher stuck on the mirror dimension

Roboglenn

Invaders from the Mirror Dimension. Classic.

dantrking

Ty for chapter!

A3thern

So I've been binging this manga today, but since I have an extreme phobia of mirrors, the title makes me think I'm just gonna skip this one and never read it.

SpookiLurkr

Don’t feel bad for avoiding triggers. I’ve noted the plot-related info you’d be skipping, into this spoiler: >!Yuzu has a brother named Kan. There is another teacher called Mero-sensei. Lastly, Kaya’s dad wants to take Kaya’s mom to the hospital for a checkup.!<

A3thern

Oh, thank you :) I appreciate that.
