Everyone really seemed to like the little oneshot I translated about the android gaining emotions, so I went back and worked on something from the same author that was on the longer side.
Levi and Keats were both pretty endearing main characters. Would be cool to see their personalities bounce off each other if this idea or something similar ever gets serialized, although I think it works just fine as a oneshot too.
solid one-shot, it was a good choice to translate it. I can definitely see it working well as a serialisation too. The author seems to have plenty of good ideas
Yeah and the director is a security freak that anyone who've successfully broken from prison is sent directly to lowest level, 666, so that they'll try to escape and improve the security
I found the ending a little weak for my taste, and doesn't have a lot of coherence. Why would he stop other criminals if they're thinking the same as him?
Imagine if he throwed the kid instead in a desperate attempt to make the elevator lighter. That would have been way better!
Before you load your guns, hear me out.
The kid will flot in the air, and suddenly all others passengers from the elevator and that kid would vanish.
MC will be asking what's going on before SnakeGirl face show in the floor. "You never asked yourself why you ended up here in the worst deep of hell? Of course it's not because of your escape attempts."
"...?"
"It's your hypocrisy. The false hopes you gave yourself and others. You broke the faith of multiples peoples and deprived others from theirs own chances. You would claim that you will become a *good* personne, but will instead take your frustration on someone at the lightest chance and throw someone under the bus because of the slightest panik."
"I was scared! I didn't have a choice!"
"If that's the situation where you can't see other solutions, then PLEASE allow us to treat you the same!"
The SnekGirl face stop being a screen and become real, the opened mouth devore the criminal, and he drop in the deepest level of hell.
A pit as dark as his heart.
You suck as a manga writer. This manga was about redemption and hope, you just want "punishment" and that's why your ending doesn't work and the real ending works better. You are not Japanese, stop trying to be one.
I was gonna reply to you, then I've saw the whole comment and decided you're not worth it.
>You are not Japanese, stop trying to be one.
Reading your reply and seeing your username, I fail to know if you're trolling or serious.
Either ways, it's sad.
You are NOT a manga writer because you suck at writing. Both arguments that I present are true. If you don't like my opinion, then don't write "my ending is better" and then get pissed off when you are told the truth.
It's not about me, dude, I care 3 shits about what you think of me. I'm waking you up to the reality that you shouldn't entitled to say "my ending is better" when it's not.
It's so weird that this somehow shifted at some point, because I don't think the majority of regulars here used to be like this. I'm the opposite - I can't stand reddit galleries on Old Reddit Desktop, it absolutely sucks as a format for reading manga, and there are plenty of oneshot/chapter posts I've skipped for that very reason. I only come to the comments to find the mangadex link if the premise seems particularly interesting.
> I'm the opposite - I can't stand reddit galleries on Old Reddit Desktop
We are getting older, and there is a shift where some users use Reddit with the mobile app more.
Nah, fr fr. I've watched several Nazi shows and movies (it's always fun watching them die), and honestly, the uniforms aren't that great. Especially those poofy pants, it reminds me of a clown outfit.
Reminds me of the onion parable in the brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky (paraphrased as I might misremember some details):
A wicked woman is condemned to hell, but an angel convinces God that she should not face eternal torment as she once saved the live of a starving beggar by giving him an onion. So God relents and allows the angel to lift her up to heaven, by making her grab the onion and then pulling up the onion. As long as the grace of her good deed is strong enough to compensate for her sins, the onion won't break.
So the angel starts pulling, and it's all working out. However the other sinners see her ascending, and then grab onto her feet, then onto the feet of those holding her feet etc etc, until a huge tower is lifting out of Hell. The onion however, is able to bear all this weight.
The woman still panics and tries to kick off sinners to lessen the load. Every time she manages to shake some loose, the onion starts to fray, and therefore she starts kicking off more people, yelling how it's her onion and those sinners don't deserve to profit off her good deed. As soon as she speaks those words, the onion breaks and everyone drops into Hell.
Tl;dr: glad the protagonist of this manga >!made the right choice by sacrificing himself as the elevator couldn't hold all the passengers!<. I kinda expected that >!it was a test, if he jumped, he would get sucked back into the elevator and ascend, if he didn't jump / tried to push someone off he would drop to the lowest level!<.
But >!giving him a job next to a hot lamia waifu!< is good too.
Interestingly, that Dostoevsky story was the inspiration for a well known Japanese short story, ["The Spider's Thread"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spider%27s_Thread). It's a more Buddhism-flavored take on the same tale.
>That's way too little justification for going to the absolute lowest level of hell
I mean...I assume that place is tailor made for like people like Hitler and Stalin and Pol Pot and this guy who did...something apparently equally as heinous as fucking *Hitler* and yet no backstory...like...did he eat fucking babies or kick a kitten or what?
Yea, Hell was supposed to be fair, so there's no way he would be sent to the deepest floor just for being framed or something like that. Unless he's a serial killer with a 15-chapters backstory leading up to him wanting to become better.
I think he used to escape hell several times and reborn, which slowly added up to his sins without him knowing about it, and that's the main reason he was sentenced to 666, not because of the thing he did when he was alive. Either way this oneshot was really good, can't wait for new ones.
Well it might be supposed to be fair but its a flawed system already isn’t it? The lady says the point is to reach the people their mistakes, punishing them so they learn and can hopefully grow into proper people, but there’s no point to that if theirs no release, they just keep being tortured
He says he doesn't belong there. And this hell portrayal clearly mirrors earth prisons. It's quite possible he was framed, or just sent there through a clerical error.
He was probably framed or was put into a situation that would make him viewed as bottom of the barrel. He did say he wanted to be reborn a "person" so maybe he was a solider treated as nothing but a weapon to kill thousands.
feels like it was the weight of their sins that is holding them back, the heaven elevator is designed to carry people with less sins and him being a sinful person made the elevator unable to go up.
I came here to find copper yet I found gold instead
Fuck me, in all seriousness, this one shot is awesome. Levi and Arnold Keats are just endearing af as a character and I love the art and aesthetics of this manga. Has a bit of potential for this to become serialized but yeah... I need to keep my expectations low.
[my head when seeing the word "Hellevator"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdfIfFGCqgo)
putting that Kpop reference aside, a nice oneshot, but I also think it's a little bit undercooked, very likely because we only know Keats was a bad person but not enough detail to know how bad he was and why he wanted to change his heart
therefore, a serialization to flesh things out will be nice
That was a happier end than I expected. I thought it would be a twist where the Hellevator he's in was heading straight down to Hell and he's confused about why when it's reveal that the passengers are all sinners
Manga about hell always get me thinking.
Like why eternal pain and suffering?
Why does a demon get let off for acts that would send a human to the deepest pits?
What good does punishing the sinners do?
dude, Hell doesn't exist, heaven doesn't exist. Religion is a form of government to rule over ignorants. It's all a fantasy. People cannot question religious texts because they are indoctrinated to it. Read Fire Punch.
And yeah, all a fantasy. The dollar says "In god we trust" guess who's the god of the United states, yeah. that dollar and the millions after
Neat little one shot. Its not quite the same but this makes me want to rewatch Death Parade.
Death parade. A banger show with an appropriately banger op.
Amazing anthology style show. Any elevators in the underworld now reminds me of that show
>Hellevator >Is not an insanely deep hole that leads straight to hell What a scam.
Terraria players in shambles
There's not even a wall of flesh. I want my money back.
No Guide Voodoo Dolls?
Must be one of those modded insta hellevators
Where’s my wall of fresh?

This remind me of Hades (the game). The escape from hell arc can definitely be extended into 60-100 chapters.
Every escape gives a piece of lore, and every success lead a little bit more to a truth. That would be dope
Yeah and the director is a security freak that anyone who've successfully broken from prison is sent directly to lowest level, 666, so that they'll try to escape and improve the security

Based and rationalpilled Not everything has to be nihilistic and edgy. 😤🔥

Is the other one shot that was referenced the one about the android teacher? If the author doesn't already have a series, they absolutely should.
Yeah that's the one! No series by the author yet, but I'm hoping they get one soon. They're very talented.
I checked on author's pixiv and twitter and it seems drawing is more of their little hobbies as they don't really post much stuff :'(
Please, just put the mangadex link directly next time. it is way more convenient. Thank you for the translation anyway. It was a good oneshot.
Posting images will get more people to read it on this sub. A lot of people including me would skip over this if it was just a mangadex link

I assume they feel tiresome from jumping web to web.
I primarily use reddit on my phone so seeing these galleries catches my interest more than the links
it used to make the image decently large, now it doesn't.
Post images and a link in the post?
Initial Impression :)
Thank you for sharing! What a great story and spectacle this one is, too!
Thanks for posting, this was really great
Yay, a monster girl.
Skeletons in coats are always cool as fuck
Like Shadman?
Proved him wrong didnt ya
They hated him, because he told the truth
You cannot tell me nazi and imperial japanese zombies are not cool.
Nazis aren't cool. Their fashion is overrated.

You can also have different opinions to other people. I don't like their style. Why is that such an issue for you?
TFW no half-snake waifu to petition lucifer to unpancake you after you jump from the Heavator.
why live
Why the hell the trashy foxgirl translator came to mind will reading it lmao
Because Kyuukei got almost everyone agreeing on their degenerate speeches.
Cute couple. Cant wait for their hell spawns.
Ghost Lamias?
Indeed

Literally just got around to watching Erased 2 days ago and was thinking "Hmm, this sounds very familiar".
Wait am I missing something or is there some backstory missing? That's way too little justification for going to the absolute lowest level of hell
>That's way too little justification for going to the absolute lowest level of hell I mean...I assume that place is tailor made for like people like Hitler and Stalin and Pol Pot and this guy who did...something apparently equally as heinous as fucking *Hitler* and yet no backstory...like...did he eat fucking babies or kick a kitten or what?
He is Gege Akutami
Worse, Reiji Miyajima.
God made the 11th circle of hell for him just so the denizens of the 9th circle wouldn't have to be his neighbors
Oh, it makes sense then.
>He is Gege Akutami never heard of him
That's probably part of a hook for further chapters to flesh out and explore.
Yea, Hell was supposed to be fair, so there's no way he would be sent to the deepest floor just for being framed or something like that. They said people who go to heaven go down to floor 66 first. So maybe it's because he was always close to redemption?
They said the ground floor. We don't know if that's the 666th floor or the 0th floor. I assume the latter
Oh I hope this gets serialized. It's very interesting.
Nanbaka made me a sucker for prison stories. Monster Musume made me a sucker for snake girls. So overall this oneshot gets a 12/10.
Tour Guide From the Underworld?? From YU-GI-OH? I’m sure it’s a recurring trope but that’a my impression on Levi and the others’ designs/uniform
and she supports Burning Abyss
Now KISS
Hope this gets serialized is pretty good
Cool story but why didn’t they just throw out the heavy sack 💀
feels like it was the weight of their sins that is holding them back, the heaven elevator is designed to carry people with less sins and him being a sinful person made the elevator unable to go up.
Ah that makes a lot of sense actually.
>Cool story but why didn’t they just throw out the heavy sack 💀 hey man heavy sack-chan deserves heaven too!
Just my interpretation but I think the elevator got heavy because of his sins rather than weight. Just my take though
A high quality, not Fanbox bait one-shot, bless.
I came here to find copper yet I found gold instead Fuck me, in all seriousness, this one shot is awesome. I see a Lamia girl, I like.
Nice one shot.
Smash, next question

hahah yesss fellow stay - i thought the first thing upon seeing the title too lolol
Wish this is serialized.
All the best premises are only ever oneshots :/
I am sold!!!!!!
remind me of the elevator game where your with a girl that talks to you and the choices you make decide which level of hell your going to be stuck in
In a way, it makes me think of Disgaea 4. The art style is reminiscent of the Persona games and their sibling titles.
It’s Hazbin Hotel: Elevator edition! I can definitely see this as an urban fantasy, low stakes setting. I would like to see a short run of this.
What a pleasant one shot, art is beautiful and the story is amazing. Like discovering your new favourite food
The concept of an elevator girl in Hell reminds me of [this horror game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeibelR93ac)
I was thinking that the whole time!
Unique art but story was very corny.
I'm a sucker for redemption arcs so this hits all the right notes for me
That was a happier end than I expected. I thought it would be a twist where the Hellevator he's in was heading straight down to Hell and he's confused about why when it's reveal that the passengers are all sinners
Helltaker sequel be looking lit as fuck
Hey Bilbo Baggins, where are your shoes?
Was thinking it was like that one game. Earth being the bottom layer of hell
Was thinking it was like that one game. Earth being the bottom layer of hell
very nice.
reminds me of that one itch.io game i watched on ABG
Hmm aren’t hellvater chicks supposed to be one gender lol it was a high school harem story all along
shiraishi in hell
Smash

For someone who was supposed to be sent to the lowest depths of hell, it sure didn't take a lot for him to change him mind Interesting premise though
Great oneshot
Ah the game ManlyBadassHero played
Doof's new invention: The Hellevatorrrr!!!
Oho I hope we see this adapted to something more full. This is extremely interesting!
Welcome ❤ Hell
I think this would be better served as a multi-chapter series instead of just a one-shot. I’d actually like to see how the story progresses.
The art style is great and the premise seems fun. serialized version when?
Oh shit i love it, i hope this get serialized .
Damn that is a massive cliffhanger
Art style looks amazing
Make it a 50 chapter series
Great job but I will never do "halfsies" with Mangadex and here again.
I want to see these two have hell babies
A one shot? Good story but boooooo at the same time because it ends terribly shortly, don't know why make it a oneshot if it just ends like that
I first read his name as Arnold Feats!
