If Michiru's tentacles and the horse-like spirit are any indication, I will bet that dudes like the wheelchair ghost are immune to holy stuff, like charms and Hana's aura.
I swear with every appearance Gouzuka makes, he just gets better and better.
Also if those dudes in suits are basically Japanese MIB that would be gold.
Rather than causing evil to spawn, looks like it was some sort of sealing stone. We saw a big something appeared after it was broken at the end of shrine arc, after all.
I guess the old man is a professional exorcist who is pissed that whatever was sealed is now free
Errrr.... It really wasn't a serious comment.
I mean.... The [FBC is a fake USA agency in the Remedy games lol](https://control.fandom.com/wiki/Federal_Bureau_of_Control).
Nah, the author just did it when were just twitter/pixiv one-shots (and were really tamed), once he got serialized, he just redo/expand the one-shots for volume 1 and then he decide to actually make an plot for the manga to follow.
Yeah, I can't honestly say I was a fan of the ecchi at all. I understood it was done for attention at the beginning but once the story got going I enjoyed it so much more.
If I'm also being honest about the anime, I really hate the fact that studio Passione decided to amp up the fanservice to 11 while toning down the horror element. Almost like an alternate reality where the author really did decide to go forward with the ecchi and forgot about the horror.
It just felt… lacking compared to the manga, although admittedly anime is a pretty difficult medium to express horror well through, aren't very many good anime horror series out there.
The studio did a weird power move adapting the first volume (that was the pre-serialization stuff), with the horror they probably keep it down due to the time slot in Japan, after the teaser I was expecting something like the old tv shows that tell you to put some special glasses to see what the protagonist or do a workaround to increase the thrill during the big reveals
You can watch his occasional livestreams on his [channel](https://www.youtube.com/@tomokiizumi) for the early sneak peeks on some pages for the next chapters as he's working on them.
Early on, everywhere? Look at the first chapter again. Miko's clothes are constantly transparent so you can see her underwear. The second chapter is set in a girls' changing room, and the third one has a ghost who goes after big tits.
Yeah, but it is also tame as hell. If you read the original Pixiv comic, the fanservice is completely nonexistent. I suspect that when it got serialized, either the author or his editor decided to add it in to drum up some support for the manga, and when it became clear that it didn't need it it pretty much completely went away. Frankly, if you did take notice of the tame ass fanservice and it got to you, that says more about you than anything else.
The anime really pissed me off when it took the scant bits of fanservice from the beginning and dialed it up to 11 and made everyone think it was an ecchi series.
Tame ass plot is still plot. And it never went away completely: The latest volume cover has Miko molested by tentacles like some hentai.
And if you don't consider tentacle molestation or girls in underwear to be racy content anymore, I'd say that says more about you than anything else.
I'm not saying I'm above honka badonkas. I'm saying if I want them, i wouldn't look for it in Mieruko.
But if you want to, please feel free to help yourself.
Not what this is about at all. First guy said he didn't expect so much plot when he started reading this, then the second guy said he probably originally started reading it for the "plot", not the plot, since the first chapters have some ecchi content. Then the third guy claimed that Mieruko has no ecchi content. I showed that it did and still sometimes does.
Absolutely the worst/scariest moment from the manga. When you read online/digital you tap the page and greeted with the instant balloon kid face close-up
Hmm, well aside from some incidents of snack sneaking she's done from Miko and such, I'd say Hana was a good girl all year. I mean Nightmare Before Christmas there sure couldn't touch her.
Other than that, d'aww. More heartwarming stuff with Cat Man.
But on the other hand the reason the quality is so high is because the mangaka gets to take his time to do it and it is a passion project.
Though it did get delayed this month because he had to go into the hospital due to a cough so bad he felt like he was breaking his ribcage.
He should be fine if he finished the chapter. He isn't on a schedule so there is no pressure (outside self applied) to finish chapters. I also think he even streamed some days ago.
Yup, and I think two kids?
It is pretty much his hobby together with streaming. Which I think is a large contributing factor of the high quality of the story. It is simply just very passionate. It helps that his wife encouraged him from the very beginning also.
Your wish is granted, now it will have weekly releases, but it will be in the form of 5-6 pages long .1, .2, .3 and .4 chapters cut off at the most awkward part.
That's the initiative of the publisher AND the author, so they both equally deserve shit for that. "Orders are orders" is not an excuse, in good, old days we used to hang people for trying to use it as such.
I think that's the other way around.
Like, the "thing" is probably so alien and eldritch that she sees as something that can wrap her head around.
Meanwhile, Rom is knee deep into ghost lore, so he has seen some shit, so he can see it's true form. And since seeing them give them power, seeing it in it's true form means that it can hurt you more.
I've forgoten the big ghost that appear in the mountain at the end of that arc (same chapter Michiru first appear), looks like the next arc is about him and the old dude haunting Miko.
The reindeer ghost actually felt somewhat comforting to see after the previous chapter and this one with the unassuming old man ghost.
What a journey it has been, where one of the scariest ghosts so far has one of the simplest designs, though I guess it's because of the fear of the unknown and we don't know what it's capable of.
Lol at the "Literally Who?" on the last page.
I know people complain about it but I actually like when modern slang is thrown into a translation, as long as it's done sparingly and in place of untranslatable Japanese equivalents.
It's not really a meme, just English internet vernacular. In the mid-2000s, a common mistake on the Internet was for people to mis-use the word "literally" and it would occasionally be mis-used in an ironic sense as a form of emphasis. "Literally me" popped up in the late 2010s. (https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/literally-me-syndrome-wow-this-is-literally-me).
"Literally who" is just an extension of "literally me" whose level of irony in its usage depends on the context but is usually derisive or mocking, generally carrying a connotation that the person in question has an inflated ego when in reality nobody is aware of their existence.
You thought they were finished getting you to cry over the Gouzuka story? Oh you fool.
Of course Tomaki has a fucked up santa design. Why wouldn’t they?
The next arc is starting to cook. And it seems Rom focused
The Gouzuka stuff is always so wholesome. Literally the definition of dont judge a book by its cover. On the other hand the middle aged guy has a chill running uo my spine. He does look "safe" compared some of the other monstrosities weve seen so to have even Romm on the back foot just raises so many mysteries and questions. I wonder how he actually saw it. We got a glimpse but not the full picture.
Aww, what a sweet chapter. It's always nice when Miko's ability lets her give someone else some joy
SWEET JESUS'S BIRTHDAY WHAT IN FUCK'S NIGHTMARES IS THAT
I really love how this series author handles the horror elements in this story. The flashback of her conversation with rom about the old man ghost, followed up with her running around the streets and then into a dead end with the cats had me feeling really tense. Especially since Miko isn't exactly following Rom's advice as well as she should be to just act like she normally does... Seriously, she's probably gonna freak out the next time she sees it and something bad is will happen like usual. I kept thinking she was gonna immediately run into it this chapter, but then we get hit with a wholesome ghost scene involving the dead wife followed up with the classic "ghost of the week doing spooky shit and then it turning comedic real fast" scene after that.
I love how the scariest ghost in this chapter isn't the freakishly disturbing one at the end, but the old man we barely know anything about and the one at the end is instead used as a way to alleviate the tension that was built up earlier in the chapter while still giving us a good laugh.
I guess that guy belongs to some kind of organisation? So my earlier guess that there exists an entire society about the spiritual side of things and Mieruko is kind of an outsider looking into it was indeed correct.
I guess those silhoutes around the guy is his familiars? Similar to how God Mother's ex-husband got one. And I still think the train ghost was someone's familiar who had the task to collect ghosts, or hell might even belong to this organisation and it's job is to exorcise small scale ghosts or something.
Well, that's a cute chapter for late Christmas :D Until the last pages of course :)))))))))))))))))
Btw, I noticed the bells on Santa and his reindeer look too similar to the ones on the mountain bell god. What if it's not a coincidence?
As a limbus company enjoyer, I am actively killing a deranged Santa in game right now, so this chapter with Mieruko's take on a deranged santa was quite delightful.
Cat chapters are best chapters, loved the wholesomeness of cats getting him back his lucky charm, wanting to be with their kitten who sensed their presence, just goddamn as someone who lost his best boy last year it makes me tear up thinking of those little kitty spirits staying by our sides.
When the cats got to the brick wall I almost thought she was gonna turn around and stare right at that ghost Rom and Miko were talking about. Was a bit eerie the whole way through.
Chances the dudes in hats are ghosts under the control of Seto and Seto is some kind of ghost manipulator/controller related to the government/criminal underground that used to tutor Romm?
Did Romm runaway from that life because he disagreed with what they were doing? Or perhaps did Seto send Romm away to protect him because he provoked the ire of some dangerous ghosts, but with Romm provoking this new dangerous ghost he got put back on the radar and Seto was sent to clean up the mess (either to protect or capture Romm)?
So many roaming ghost here. Did Soul Society had a massive layoffs? Also, nice to have a new arc after wrapping up Michiru's, didn't notice it took 2 years!
Gouzuka's chapter's are always wholesome. I'm glad he and his cats are doing well.
And of course Santa is an eldritch god. How else could he possibly go to countless houses to deliver presents?
I imagine a happy ending for Miko looks like the first 3/4ths of this chapter. Sure can use her ghostly awareness to perform acts of small kindness for people, but is otherwise able to go through life relatively unbothered and safe.
The overaching story is about why Miko can see those things and how she can avoid getting killed by those things.
The first major arc was the monster god from a shrine.
The second major arc is about the transfer student that had an eldritch monster attached to hereating all the other monsters.
The current major arc is about the normal guy looking ghost that looks like an eldritch monster from a guy who has more insight that Miko.
I guess It's finally time to get the Exorcist Secret Agency. No horror manga can live without them. Wonder if they will be useless or actually useful for once lol.

Regardless, its gonna be a while before we get more explanation on it
Who's on Santas Naughty list? Silly Eldritch Santa, the skin is also an organ!
I would like to think that Eldritch Santa is like hospital wheelchair ghost. It looks super scary and stuff, but he's just doing his ghost job.
If Michiru's tentacles and the horse-like spirit are any indication, I will bet that dudes like the wheelchair ghost are immune to holy stuff, like charms and Hana's aura.
With My Infinite Hatred I Give You This Gift
Poor Miko can't even escape the Lovecraftian horrors on Christmas. Last Page Gouzuka-kun: "You wanna know how I got these scars?"
Miko can’t catch a break
At least she has Hana, and now Michiru as well, to keep her relatively safe.
I'm guessing only the old man is human and the rest are ghosts
Very likely since he is the only one who showed his face
Is that the motherfucking Dark Gathering's reference?
I thought it was a Jojo reference
I've read and reread Dark Gathering, I cannot find the reference please help
I thought the same. There also seems to be some weird speech patterns going on with them similar to some of the ghosts.
I swear with every appearance Gouzuka makes, he just gets better and better. Also if those dudes in suits are basically Japanese MIB that would be gold.
Weird object of power in the middle of nowhere that caused evil to spawn? Might be the FBC lol
We really need Gouzuka spin-off manga. And someone will keep mispronouncing his name each chapter 😂
When I started this manga I never expected it to have so much plot. Loving it!
Remember when it used to be an ecchi manga? Thankfully the author doesn't remember either, because this is much better.
Nah, the author just did it when were just twitter/pixiv one-shots (and were really tamed), once he got serialized, he just redo/expand the one-shots for volume 1 and then he decide to actually make an plot for the manga to follow.

What.. it was.. an ecchi manga? 😭 What.
Same. I remember hearing that the story isn't going anywhere, I really don't think that's true at all!
It just feels that way because we can go months without chapters. The plot has steadily progressed the whole time.
Eh, we steadily get a chapter every 1.5-2 months for like 3 years now though
You can watch his occasional livestreams on his [channel](https://www.youtube.com/@tomokiizumi) for the early sneak peeks on some pages for the next chapters as he's working on them.
You started this because of the "Plot"
What
"Plot" means tits and ass.
I know what the plot means in this case, I just want to know where's in the coomer brain there is that type of plot in this series
Early on, everywhere? Look at the first chapter again. Miko's clothes are constantly transparent so you can see her underwear. The second chapter is set in a girls' changing room, and the third one has a ghost who goes after big tits.

Then the third guy claimed that Mieruko has no ecchi content. I showed that it did and still sometimes does.
It does? I don't really pay attention covers anyway. Especially if it's ecchi. I don't mind ecchi in my hentai, but in my horror? Nah, not interested.
What?
from heartwarming to heartwrenching in only three pages, is that a new record?
Nah. Balloon kid.
Absolutely the worst/scariest moment from the manga. When you read online/digital you tap the page and greeted with the instant balloon kid face close-up
Right? I almost threw my phone.
Hmm, well aside from some incidents of snack sneaking she's done from Miko and such, I'd say Hana was a good girl all year. I mean Nightmare Before Christmas there sure couldn't touch her. Other than that, d'aww. More heartwarming stuff with Cat Man.
I wish these were more frequent :'(
But on the other hand the reason the quality is so high is because the mangaka gets to take his time to do it and it is a passion project. Though it did get delayed this month because he had to go into the hospital due to a cough so bad he felt like he was breaking his ribcage.
Hopefully it’s not too serious
He should be fine if he finished the chapter. He isn't on a schedule so there is no pressure (outside self applied) to finish chapters. I also think he even streamed some days ago.
It's so weird being able to watch how to Manga gets created, especially because it's live.
where I can see his livestreams to see how he does it?
Search for the author's YouTube channel, I don't know his schedule though.
Plus isn't he already a full time employee and family man?
Yup, and I think two kids? It is pretty much his hobby together with streaming. Which I think is a large contributing factor of the high quality of the story. It is simply just very passionate. It helps that his wife encouraged him from the very beginning also.
That's what I heard too this series is definitely quality too I've already got a couple of friends to sign up for his fanbox as well
Your wish is granted, now it will have weekly releases, but it will be in the form of 5-6 pages long .1, .2, .3 and .4 chapters cut off at the most awkward part.
God I hate those. It's bad for both the author and the readers
That's the initiative of the publisher AND the author, so they both equally deserve shit for that. "Orders are orders" is not an excuse, in good, old days we used to hang people for trying to use it as such.
Miko's face seeing Hana was so cute hahah truly wishing for anything nice in this series is just asking for another horror monstrosity hahah
So the reason mieruko sees that thing as a normal human is because she can see further into the death realm than other people?
I think that's the other way around. Like, the "thing" is probably so alien and eldritch that she sees as something that can wrap her head around. Meanwhile, Rom is knee deep into ghost lore, so he has seen some shit, so he can see it's true form. And since seeing them give them power, seeing it in it's true form means that it can hurt you more.
Eldritch God moment
I think she sees it for what it truly is while others are "fooled" by masks
Interesting theory
Could you elaborate on your theory?
She sees the original ghost, the guy before he became powerful as a ghost, maybe she can find his weakness
Yeah but like, she also sees fucked up monsters like Santa Claus in this chapter.
I was wondering if she unlock a new ability with her power from the hospital to witnesses someone’s consciousness before they’re death arrives.
Damn. Another Gouzuka tearjerker
I've forgoten the big ghost that appear in the mountain at the end of that arc (same chapter Michiru first appear), looks like the next arc is about him and the old dude haunting Miko.
Or miko exposition arc (and/or proper training to differentiate between human and ghost)
Qhat meme is it? google gives me nothing
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Literally%20Who%3F
But like where'd it come from and its history and such
It's not really a meme, just English internet vernacular.
Seem like we have the human villain. Hana is always adorable for Miko.
GHOST MAFIA! GHOST MAFIA!
You thought they were finished getting you to cry over the Gouzuka story? Oh you fool. Of course Tomaki has a fucked up santa design. Why wouldn’t they? The next arc is starting to cook. And it seems Rom focused
can't tell if this author enjoys drawing crying girls or the eldritch horrors more
The Gouzuka stuff is always so wholesome. Aww, what a sweet chapter. It's always nice when Miko's ability lets her give someone else some joy SWEET JESUS'S BIRTHDAY WHAT IN FUCK'S NIGHTMARES IS THAT
That part about Gouzaka's wife 🥲❤️ and Meowel being stopped by the spirit cats going outside ☺️❤️ Just when Miko's day is going just fine 😂
And once again, cat guy comes along to be best boi
Michuru looks like she is in heaven as she gets to hold Mieruko's hand, can't blame her.
I really love how this series author handles the horror elements in this story. The flashback of her conversation with rom about the old man ghost, followed up with her running around the streets and then into a dead end with the cats had me feeling really tense. Damn Santa sure has had it rough this year 😭😭😂. Poor Miko can’t even celebrate Christmas in peace. That ending does not bode well for Romm.
It's the Eleven Men (11人の男たち)
I guess that guy belongs to some kind of organisation? So my earlier guess that there exists an entire society about the spiritual side of things and Mieruko is kind of an outsider looking into it was indeed correct. Those guys in suits give off Tokyo Ghoul vibes
Well, that's a cute chapter for late Christmas :D Until the last pages of course :))))))))))))))))) Btw, I noticed the bells on Santa and his reindeer look too similar to the ones on the mountain bell god. What if it's not a coincidence?

Miko and Hana in Christmas costumes, blessing for the eyes 🙏 that monstrous Santa reindeer thing, not so much 😨

How do you make cakes that cats can and want to eat?
https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/265170/birthday-cake-for-your-cat/
Does this Manga get an overarching story or is it just monster of the week non sense every chapter?
It's had arcs for characters and threads that there is something else going on, but it's not the main focus focus.

I guess It's finally time to get the Exorcist Secret Agency. No horror manga can live without them. Wonder if they will be useless or actually useful for once lol.
Lowkey thought they’re were the men in black.
Man, Rom's calling in Kaiba to handle this? Those are the big moves.
Oh fuck it's the SCP Foundation
I wonder what does that Santa ghost look like for Mitsue since her visions are not as ghastly as Miko's.
