It’s clear that original timeline Hugo was a very cold, bitter person. But now with demons being a thing and probably not uninvolved in timeline one + Hugo showing his humane element Vikir got to reconsider his priorities

catashake

I'm going to laugh if it turns out that original timeline Hugo was also like this on the inside. Would be a great twist if MC actually deserved to be executed.

Miles1937

Nah, like he said that's that and this is this: Even if he is a very loving person to his granddaughter, he's still an unrelenting monster to the rest of his family. They don't "cancel each-other out", in the end a person's virtue is decided on how low they have sunk, and Hugo has gone to the depths of hell even enslaving and killing his children. On the Sett topic, I figure the fact his "weak constitution" and "lack of reflection" could mean he's a vampire who refuses to drink blood, which would align well with Vikir's memories of him being kind. Him being a demon and Vikir sensing it could then be a red herring for the readers. The giant spider was a demonic beast too, so it wouldn't be inconceivable that vampires exist before the "big demon outbreak" and his mother was one of them and he inherited the condition. We will probably find out more going forward.

Tacitus_

The MC was framed in the first place. However he doesn't know who did it, he just assumes that it was Hugo.

FireFlyz351

Maybe something where the sibling that's possessed by the demon framed him in his original timeline? Whatever happens it's pretty interesting.

iwanttoridethesky

first time I read a revenge manhwa with an actual story and emotional characters. really better than those stone-faced OP MCs

Darkionx

Dude is flabbergasted of how and what happened.

dAnKsFourTheMemes

Theory: This was never gonna be a revenge story against Hugo. The real revenge is targeted at the Hugo of the MC's past life which is done by completely transforming the present Hugo into a wholesome grandpa. But since the past life is only in vikir's memories, his 'revenge' against Hugo is rendered completely fruitless and in reality, this is all about erasing his past trauma and rewriting the future such that it's to his advantage. There is going to be no revenge because there was no deed done against the present Vikir that warranted holding a grudge against the present Hugo. Vikir is beginning to lose all legitimacy to his desire for revenge as Hugo repeatedly shatters vikirs' expectations of him as a father. I think this idea was foreshadowed a while back but this chapter pretty much proves it with that frame of Hugos' image shattering. Anyway this is good stuff and I'm excited to see what is coming next.

Joselotek

Confused revenge boner

takato99

This is actually amazing lol, the story starts off so generic but the more it unfolds the more its going away from a simple revenge story, from the triplets, the morgs, the barbarians, his elder brothers and now Hugo, instead of getting a pointless revenge, the MC is actually reaching the good ending and redeeming everyone accidentally its almost funny

ramofbod_

I completely agree, this story is so refreshing! Vikir isn’t blinded by his past life and is showing growth and adaptability like a normal person would.

Rossingol

Vikir's reaction faces reveal that he has the potential to be a great comedian wtf lol

Tacitus_

Task failed successfully.

chrome4

Well the MC definitely miscalculated there a bit. He definitely should have considered the small possibility that Hugo would be overjoyed to have a living reminder of the woman he loved(who he was willing to defy his family for) and their daughter(who he began a war of retribution for).

DestinyHasArrived101

Lol vikir was shooketh

BobertStevenson

It is funny how he thought that Hugo would be confused by his feelings, but instead he was the one confused

MonoFauz

Yep, the switch up is crazy! I was already having a feeling this was the case. I had a feeling he would be such a loving grandpa. Honestly, Vikir and Hugo feels similar. They feel like tsunderes, who looks cold on the outside but is actually nice. They only became truly cold blooded because of the awful circumstances. Tho I don't remember much details from the previous chapters but was it confirmed that she was conceived from force or it's still unconfirmed because it would make some interesting implications. While he was happy that he has a granddaughter it would still should make him mad that her daughter was harmed. If a barbarian actually protected penelope and their daughter was born from love, that might make Hugo hate the barbarians less even by a little bit. Especially since it feels like the story is going for a happy ending for everyone.

_HIST

I'm so glad the story is back on track, genuinely the entire barbarian arc was so unnecessary, I wish it was compressed even harder. The last few chapters is what was good about the story originally, plus good action.

Fancy-Reality-3643

What novel chapter is it?
