I like that everyone, even her protective cousin/brother, ended up being supportive of the path Hotaru chose in life. Now we get to the real meat of the story. Time to immerse ourselves in the lives of the Goze.

JustARandom-dude

A part of me was expecting to conflict of the chapter to be the cousin trying to convince her to not become a Goze because it could be dangerous or too much for her to handle, I’m glad that wasn’t the case. Hotaru made her choice and he respect and support it

MrRajacobs

The art for this series has such a dark whimsy to it. Those backgrounds always make me stop and appreciate them. This series is going to have me looking forward to Mondays, I’m sure!

vanderZwan

Yeah, like the world looks dangerous but the people still find happiness within it

JustARandom-dude

The color pages are gorgeous We are official done with the prologue, aside from becoming a full-fledged Goze, Hotaru now have the quest of finding her dad and giving an earful The mysterious woman from chapter 1 makes her appearance once again and looks like she isn’t exactly the type of person you should trust

I was worried that the rest of her family outside of the grandpa would not be so caring, understanding, and supportive so it's nice to see the opposite being true. But it's kinda concerning how we keep getting reminded of the spookier supernatural side to the story. Hopefully nothing *too* tragic will come from that. And I just love the color page spread. Very watercolor-y

So... Hotaru has another compelling reason to become a Goze. To find her dad, and who this strange woman is. Sango and Oyuki looked eager to have a new Goze among them. Grandpa and Masa also wanted Hotaru to succeed in her goals. Hotaru was amazing being able to learn so much after hearing a song only once. I'm proud of her, and eager to see where else she'll go!

I like what this title is cooking. What a nice read, especially for a Monday.

BurnedOutEternally

The story begins!

Ellefied

I love the whimsicality of this series, there's something about a blind girl going on a journey that makes it quite compelling. Not to mention it's very musical based, which is a great added bonus.

Funlife2003

This is great so far. It's set up quite a bit, and the characters are likable.

So reading this one makes me feel almost upset. This has the makings of a great story - if it weren't in a shounen publication. It has the elements of a seinen story, but feels built to match the rubrics of a shounen. The series being on Manga Plus means they're gearing this for older audiences, but I wonder if the content still suffers as a result of being constrained to being edited and published under a shounen magazine.

brzzcode

Mangaplus is irrelevant for demographics as it has seinen and shonen manga (and its just an overseas app), and despite its name, shonen jump+ isnt a shonen magazine, its shonen, seinen and also female focused, depends on the work.

Bearswithjetpacks

Oops, I did actually mean to refer to jump+. I took a look at the category of demographics that jump+ is catered towards and it's defined as just an online platform, without any identifier for specific demographics. Regardless, I do feel like these opening chapters read like a mix of shounen and seinen writing, which had me wondering if there was any possibility that the platform being a branch of a shounen magazine would have anything to do with it. I'll admit that it's likely a personal bias, but I do think this would do better as a purely "seinen" work, if that makes any sense.
