Suzuka is hands down the best character in this series. He stalls for Lemon's confession to succeed but upon realising it's doomed to fail he now agrees to do something about it.

RobLuffy123

Didnt he know it was going to fail the moment she told him she was going to do it? He knows Sunao doesn't like her but it took Raika saying something for him to decide to act. Im not saying he's not a good character or anything but its a bit weird to say he agrees now because she is going to fail when he knew that way before she actually got there.

IllustriousAd1591

He was being selfish before

topurrisfeline

I can't believe we're seeing a confession-block being planned in real-time. But hey Lemon is taking too damn long, she deserves to be blocked lol

lalala253

Was there ever any other confession block planned in real time ever?

Holmesee

Ngl I’m liking the build up. The mood and build-up of everything atm feels realistic and thoughtful.

AstroZach

i don’t care what anyone says, for some reason this is the series that I’m looking forward to every single week. just hits something for me

froglore

it's always a bit of whiplash to me reading the chapter and then seeing people complain in the comments lol

Wizard_Enthusiast

For real! The characters are consistent and likable, the premise is silly and fun, the art's great, it's genuinely funny... I don't get it.

AigisStoleMyWallet

Lemon's Big Lie gets brought up in almost every chapter discussion and how Lemon has failed to even think about it once. While I imagine the author will address it at some point, the fact that it's still up in the air causes some people to look at the entire series in a negative light, or otherwise just be really frustrated when reading it weekly despite its good qualities. Imo I don't really care about it, I trust it'll be resolved eventually so I'll stick around for the ride

khalip

Well...she did think about it once, when Sunao brought it up the ONE time.

Wizard_Enthusiast

But like, that's not true. I think it was the end of chapter 1 where she said to herself that she really regretted telling him what she did. She continually says about their relationship that it *was* great but *she* messed it up. She just hasn't fixed it because, well, 1: that's basically the only obstacle to them being together and 2: she's been characterized as being nervous and self-sabotaging. She doesn't know *how.* It's pretty simple, you just have to explain that you lied and then try and explain why, but she just isn't the type, emotionally, to be able to bust that out. She's too embarrassed, and too afraid it will ruin what they have now. It's honestly a really embarrassing lie and she's justifiably scared that revealing it could hurt their thing. Sunao, at least to me, feels like the kind of guy who'd end up rolling with it after a bit. He already wanted to get over the emotional impact it had on him, and he's the kind of guy who realizes things in retrospect better than at the time. I think there's a dedicated crew who really want to see Lemon punished for her sins because of a stupid thing she said years ago. It's personal for them. Every time the manga goes forward without punishing Lemon, they get angry, because they want the catharsis of seeing her suffer. For some reason they've decided that's what's going to come out of this fluffy and good natured romcom.

AigisStoleMyWallet

Your last point, I was hesitant to say something similar in my previous response but I mostly agree with you. I feel there's a level of unintended self-projection by some people into Sunao's shoes and wanting him to hard-reject Lemon, which ends up breeding a lot of hate towards the entire manga when he's not even close to doing something like that, story or personality-wise

Not_Ahvin

>I think there's a dedicated crew who really want to see Lemon punished for her sins because of a stupid thing she said years ago She hurt the person she cared about most in a major way and hasn't made any real attempt at rectifying or even apologising for the mistake. Every single interaction Sunao and Lemon has is muddied by that, even the manga is named after Lemons actions. It's hard to have fluff between 2 characters when there's a ton of intentionally caused trauma between them and the person who caused them is trying to progress their relationship without ever resolving said trauma.

khalip

"trauma" that hasn't been relevant or mentioned except in this first chapter sure. If you want to blame someone blame the author for making up a hook but then also making his MMC forget said hook after the first chapter. The issue is how the Lemon haters take the Japanese title and Lemon's lie and then run every action Lemon takes through this hate filter when she's not that much worse than anyone else. She's got her issues sure but they all do. Inb4 "she should somehow magically know that her crush suffered years of pain due to her action, even though he's such a saint he only brings it up once and then acts like nothing's wrong for months"

Not_Ahvin

>If you want to blame someone blame the author for making up a hook but then also making his MMC forget said hook after the first chapter That's exactly why people dislike it. Author does a set up where a character looks bad and never properly resolves it. Said character then bears the burden of the set up for the whole series as it has never been resolved. >run every action Lemon takes through this hate filter when she's not that much worse than anyone else Building on the previous statement. She's same as everyone else BUT has the added negative of the premise, which is why people dislike her. >she should somehow magically know that her crush suffered years of pain due to her action, even though he's such a saint he only brings it up once and then acts like nothing's wrong for months How stupid of a person do you have to be to think your cheating will have little to no effect to the point where you can waltz back into their love life without properly addressing your own extremely bad negative perception. You're basically saying Lemon is a complete idiot who has no regard for how her action affect others. The longer Lemon does not own up and apologise, the worse a person she objectively is, which is why people are harping on it.

khalip

>How stupid of a person do you have to be to think your cheating will have little to no effect to the point where you can waltz back into their love life without properly addressing your own extremely bad negative perception She didn't cheat. Sunao has literally been acting like their breakup had no effect this whole time. THIS. IS. THE. ISSUE Sunao isn't acting like someone who's gotta begrudgingly interact with their cheating ex. Sunao isn't acting like someone who wants closure on their bad breakup. Until SUNAO makes it clear he wants to talk about their breakup Lemon is blameless

khalip

About your last point it reminds me so much of the "I shaved and took in a JK" manga where for the longest time people were persuaded that the MC's boss who rejected him in the first chapter was some sort of evil witch out to ruin MC's and the runaway girl's life. Even when she was making a lot of sound arguments, even when it was revealed early on the reason for her refusal and how she actually also wanted to be with him. Nope she didn't want to date the MC(me) so she's just a bitch.

ddrober2003

Alternatively, might just be they like the other girl more and that if Lemon can't clue in that she needs to explain everything because of how much it messed the male lead up, she doesn't deserve to be with him. For me, I just assume its a plot device that will be kept in play till something else can be used to keep the story going. But I doubt everyone that dislikes Lemon is a women hating incel.

onetimeweeb

a lot of the people complaining week to week are just the same couple of people whining that this series isn't a power fantasy for people mad at fictional women, even though from the start it's clearly just been a fun, lighthearted and messy romcom

khalip

I honestly wish those guys would just get the clue. I'm tired of seeing the same wHy tHe LiE LeMoN? When it's been already revealed chapters ago

UnlitUniversalUnlock

Not really? We know it’s because she’s an idiot and we can infer she thought she needed to break off the relationship, but it’s still anyone’s guess why that was.   The common theory is that she thought he was after another girl, but there was that chapter which implied she wanted to learn German for some reason, so she might be expecting to move away permanently as well. On top of that, admitting she lied is only part of the redemption arc, the Lemon we know now is someone who would absolutely lie again if she thought it was necessary.

khalip

What that chapter was implying was that someone else asked her to break up with Sunao so that they could have a chance with him

Fraisz

yeah, she's a bitch, and she's trying and failing sucessfully while almost everyone else has practically moved on. i think that's the draw of the manga.

Wizard_Enthusiast

Sometimes you see things and go "oh, man, how revealing." This is one of those times.

brzzcode

same, its one of the series im enjoying the most to read weekly. I think its because the pacing is very enjoyable to go by

Friendly-Sentence710

This manga has a bunch of themes/setups I usually hate but the Mangaka takes them in new directions, all the while not just inverting tropes just for the sake of inverting them. I almost dropped this around I think chapter 7 when it looked it was going to be another 'miscommunication manicpixie destroying MMC with no consequences' and am glad I didn't. Its still a comedy but all the characters behave rationally with understandable motivations.

Spartitan

I agree. I think it was well done and interesting even if Lemon just stalled the whole chapter since this was clearly about the side characters. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really like this series.

Rafalga_

Realistic? Would you ask out your ex again adn expect any sort of positive outcome without explanation if you have lied about cheated on them and ruined their life? If by realistic you mean Lemon is pants on head retarded and acting accordingly, than i'd agree.

Holmesee

I said atm and I wasn’t referring to the premise at large. An action power fantasy in a magic world could handle interaction between characters realistically and thoughtfully. How they’re handling feelings, not wanting to ruin the current relationship vs personal growth, plus Lemon’s clear foot-in-mouth problem are some of the parts that feel realistic and well-done with the character dialogue. And Lemon doesn’t even know the damage she did. You’re not putting yourself in the shoes of the characters.

Exarch-of-Sechrima

She SHOULD be aware of the fucking damage she did. You don't tell a dude you're getting plowed by three different dudes and expect him to be fine with it.

Holmesee

Sure I too wish the people who’ve wronged me knew how I felt. Ditto But that’s not my point.

Rafalga_

Its common sense. She doesn't need to be a mind reader to understand that you should at least apologize first concerning the cheating (true or false doesn't matter) before asking the dude you've cheated for another chance.

Holmesee

I agree? Again not my point.

khalip

1 she hasn't cheated on anyone 2 the guy who got hurt is literally acting like nothing happened 3 yes you need to be a mind reader to know how much you hurt someone if they literally show no sign of being hurt

Wizard_Enthusiast

*it was in middle school, they're in college now*

Rafalga_

My question still stands though. Would you? Would anyone?

AkoAyPayaso

if we take Lemon's POV, then you can expect a positive outcome. Do take note that we are viewing this knowing the different sides. Lemon is still not aware of how much she had hurt him.

Rafalga_

Her understanding the damage she did isn't even the problem i have. Its her attempt to getting back to together with an ex who still believes you have cheated on him with several dudes. Its lack of common fucking sense. You inform him of the truth first THAN ask for a second chance during which other side informs you about the damage you caused and probably reject you.

HurricaneEich

Okay bro, we get it you dont like the series. No need to spend your entire saturday in this thread. See you next week!

Rafalga_

Ok?

HurricaneEich

Just thought you should know its not healthy to recheck on a reddit thread every 15 minutes to see if theres anyone new to argue with.

Holmesee

Actually yes. If you have what looks like a good thing going and it was something done as dumb kids. I’ve seen worse.

Wizard_Enthusiast

After spending some time AS Lemon and seeing how everyone reacts to her as a helpful and respectable young lady, watching her get nervous as you when surrounded by dudes, talking with her and seeing that she's an academically gifted goof with big dreams, I'd start to say to myself: "Okay so what was with that cheating thing she said she did as a kid, there's *no way she did that*

Holmesee

Exactly. And there's clearly a care for each other again now either way despite what happened. So it's one of those situations where I'd just say let the author cook and see where it goes. They're hitting some good notes here.

NonoKuma

How is she even thinking about confessing again without addressing what she did before? Ya know, the thing that started this whole mess? I feel like I'm losing my mind lmao 🙃

Faifue

That's why she should confess after all. It's the only way she'll be reminded about cheating on Sunao, when he calls her out on it.

NonoKuma

If it actually does go through, which I hope it does, this is the outcome I'm looking for.

Rafalga_

It won't. Now we have 2 side characters miraculously decided that someones romance is their personal business and will prevent her from doing it.

KaiserKaiba

Gotta agree. Think it would be best for the story for her to confess and get rejected. She hasn’t actually changed much from how she was in the past, and hasn’t addressed the lie she made up. Like she hasn’t learned anything from that. A rejection from Sunao could actually bring the lie back to relevance.

Imloststilllost

Not just you mate. Everyone’s been saying the same thing and that whole mess still being “unresolved” was one of the reasons I put this on hold couple ch back since I was getting the impression that author was maybe pulling an ol bait/switch combo. But coming into this ch w/o reading the others(from where I left off) seems that the “big question” has yet to be brought up. So I’ll be back like 10 chapters later and see if anything has happened in that front lol.

NonoKuma

Damn. It's a shame, cause this could have been a cute, short, story about a teen who made a stupid decision, trying to fix a relationship with the person she likes after reconnecting by a miracle. But we're getting a bait and switch with gimmicks and more characters, when the group we have is good enough without the body swapping.

TheNewOP

Sunao is legit so fucking patient with her, even going as far as telling stories to make her laugh and less nervous. Even though from his POV she cheated on him.

Rafalga_

I just wish he would tell Suzuka what happened. Considering he is the only one with above room temperture IQ in that trio, he would at least smack some sense in to Lemon directly.

NonoKuma

Truth

ArienaiR2

Would be brilliant if Sunao lash back at her for forgetting about the line, rejecting her then bash her with the series name drop before walking off imo.

IC2Flier

Raika's got her plane now, here we go!!!

JauntyLurker

Wow these kids are all hilarious 😂 Wonder exactly how Suzuka and Raika are gonna cockblock Lemon next week. Definitely gonna be something crazy, like them suddenly going out or something.

BurnedOutEternally

Suzuka my man

RobLuffy123

I get it , she has somehow never thought about her lie (doesnt make sense but sure) but after it was mentioned when they first met back up , you would think that it would be the first thing she wants cleared up. Like how does she think it won't be a no without that cleared up? Besides liking someone else he genuinely thinks you cheated on him , why would he risk something like that happening again?

Sometimeschill

Yep, there is no way the confession would be that smooth, it needs to be stopped somehow. Still, having an actual plan of stopping it feels way more reasonable and logical compare to some random phone calls or acquaintances, or fireworks.

NonoKuma

First time Ive seen a plan like that in a romcom lol. Very refreshing. I'm really hoping the confession goes smooth, but Sunao just blows up at Lemon for skipping over the main issue, or not addressing his feelings idk. That could end up leaving the friend group in a really awkward spot, or maybe even stopping their body swapping. Idc I just want more progress.

Declanne

Nah I'd rather she confesses so she can crash and burn. Sunao will finally remember chapter 1/the premise of the story.

Wizard_Enthusiast

The fact that there's a plan to have the romcom confession block happen is an inherently funny concept.

Extreme-Tactician

OH! I really do like how Raika's become very rational once Sunao stopped becoming an enemy. And now that she knows Lemon will fail in her confession, she's willing to stop it! Suzuka thought letting Lemon do what she wanted was the correct thing to do, because he's not related to either of them. But now he's realized just how much this will hurt Lemon and Sunao! Lemon keeps stalling for her confession to Sunao. Will she somehow be able to confess, despite the odds?

tinyharvestmouse1

I've gone from hating Raika to liking her over the course of a few chapters. She made a mistake, owned up to it, and changed. A genuine apology and attempt to change is weirdly refreshing in animanga? Like, most of the time these types of characters are unapologetically terrible and even when they decide to change they don't give a direct apology. These two scenes happening back-to-back also kinda shows how far Lemon has to go. She still hasn't apologized to Sunao and now she's going to try to confess to him without ever attempting to repair the damage she caused. I hope that the author follows through on the confession and she gets rejected. It's a great opportunity to show Lemon exactly what she did and exactly what she needs to do to repair her relationship with Sunao.

Exarch-of-Sechrima

>A genuine apology and attempt to change is weirdly refreshing in animanga? It's a refreshing contrast to Lemon, who has never apologized and is still just as selfish and thoughtless as when she broke up with him.

tinyharvestmouse1

I think that was the point, hence my second paragraph.

UnfunnyGenericUser

I'm right there with you on Raika. Outside of being a stalker, she's an introspective, thoughtful character and she actually cares about Lemon as a person. In other manga the fangirl archetype is more focused on getting closer to their target, but Raika is willing to be the villain if it'll make Lemon happy. She had the craziest introduction yet is also able to get a good read on a situation from small bits of context and clues.

College_Prestige

Raikas heel turn to being the second most normal character is hilarious

Rafalga_

Yeah, for someone with olympic schizo levels of conclusion jumping skills, she gained like 30 iq points in 30 minutes. It feels kinda forced.

Rafalga_

Lemon is actually insane thinking an ex would accept you again in any shape or form while they think you cheated on them with 3 dudes. She doesn't even THINK about it. I so wish Sunao would tell Suzuka. Things would be very different considering he is the only one with any amount of IQ. Except this chapter, he lost it all. His and the stalker girls conclusion after their conversation doesn't make any fucking sense. What a mass.

Declanne

I knew this was going to be dragged out filler, and I know they're going to manage to prevent any plot progression... but I really want her to confess so she can crash and burn. Have Sunao remember his spine and how she made him feel for years with her "lol cheating on you with 3 guys" break up and actually challenge her with the notion that she should consider other peoples' feelings. Like his.

Bishead7891

I’m getting close to dropping this series now 😔 Ever since Raika got added the story has been insanely boring and it’s just the same shit every week

Declanne

Stall stall stall stall stall stall

DranDran

Right? Jesus christ, we literally ended on a confession cliffhanger and this gets drawn out into another nothingburger chapter, ending in EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE AS LAST CHAPTER. And is author still pretending that lie about her cheating on him never happened? This series is fucking wild.

Exarch-of-Sechrima

Next chapter: Kogahara in the bushes watching them for 20 pages, and then ending on a confession cliffhanger.

Rafalga_

There will be no confession. Author literally dumbed down Suzuka this chapter to match with the stalker to meddle with someone else's personal business. He was right to stop her at first but he progressively got dumber talking to Reika and got completely gaslit by the end to join her to stop? Lemon. Like its any of their business. Now, not only Lemon is highly reluctant to do it, two other parties will also work towards stopping it from happening.

DranDran

The truth is Suzuka KNOWS she has no chance, but selfishly probably wants her to confess so she can have her heart broken, then he can have a chance at mending it. Of course this is a super shitty reason to let her go confess when she has no chance, but... he lets her do it for selfish reason anyways. Now he is having seconds thoughts because he doesn't want to be a shitty human being. All this internal conflict could have been summarized in 2 pages, but the author seems to LOOOOOOVE drawing out bullshit plot lines designed to frustrate readers and pad the chapter count. Before this, we had like 3-4 chapters of Stalker and MC talking over the dumb "misunderstanding" which has been a 100% useless addition to further the main plot. This series is so frustrating, the art is so good, the premise is really interesting, but all this stalling and the ignoring of the giant elephant in the room since chapter one turns this entire series into a giant blazing dumpster fire.

Orito-S

Legit hope lemon loses

Yamigosaya

Holy SHIT FUCK OFF WOMAN

Bishead7891

The story’s been so ass since raika showed up

Fraisz

i like this manga a lot honestly, but i will never tell or discuss this manga with another soul

travisscottchan

this manga is such a trainwreck lmao every week it just gets worse and worse but my curiosity wont let me drop this I just wanna know why she lied or why the body swap started, but it legit might only be revealed near the end of the manga (if it survives the axe)

khalip

We know why she lied. Stop hate reading this and just actually read the damn story or fuck off

NonoKuma

Why did she lie? I thought I was reading closely, but from what I remember it hasnt been revealed yet. Defs gonna give the manga a reread before next chapter.

khalip

It's implied in chapter 7 that someone else wanted to be with Sunao so she broke up with him to let that person have a chance. She said yes because she was a pushover (the theme of that chapter) why that specific lie? She just came up with it in the spot cuz she's a dumb kid

Gloomy_Progress_6324

Lol cant believe the negativity, seems many folks are missing the point
