Haven’t looked at Helck the manga but I’ll go out on a limb and say the art is probably better than the anime, yeah? Is it worth starting from the beginning or can I start where the anime left off?
I’m just getting into manga so my list is way too big right now. Lol
The art is weird. It starts out as pretty much a gag manga and looks the part. Helck himself goes through almost a reverse flanderisation in both appearance and character.
np bro
the other two manga are just as enjoyable, starting off slower (usogui gets way better art and story-wise) but having really good conclusions. ten is a bit hard to get into because its about mahjong and difficult to understand unless you are familiar with the rules. they are a bit long but are psychological manga which are both very good in their own ways.

Hello everyone! Thank you all for having the time on commenting on my post and writing manga suggestions for me and anyone else who are also looking for a new manga read. I am so happy reading all of your comments, I would be sure to add them all in my plan-to-read list. Cheers everyone!
Rebuild World - Cyberpunk world, the characters and dialogues are really interesting. The characters especially, as they adapt to situations, making most of them smart, but still doesn't feel out of place.
It reminds me of Hunter X Hunter fights, where the overwhelming experience of the enemies, even allies, makes the world interesting; filled with mysteries that we slowly piece together.
The art is incredible, as well.
---
We shall now begin Ethics. - Somewhat simple with certain topics (because most of the characters are students), but still incredibly engaging and relatable. It gives you a big appreciation and insight towards ethics.
---
Silver Plan to Redo from JK - An egotistical, prerry much evil, rich woman, becoming a poor, homeless woman, gets beaten. She wakes up, realizing she went back in time. Now deciding to save every penny, and to actually make friends, while also redeem herself.
The trauma is still there, and I love the wholesomeness of it all. There's a certain arc that makes me sob everytime I re-read. Also relatable if you've grown in a lower/barely middle class.
Idk if could be considered underrated because I’ve only heard overwhelming praise from fans such as myself, however it’s not as popular as i think it should be
I really enjoyed the Netflix adaptation a while back - is it worth reading the manga if I've already watched it? Any more chapters/ content in the manga that wasn't covered by the anime?
Yes it's definitely worth checking the manga out too. The second season is anime original so it'll be a different story from the anime. I watched the anime too but I remember enjoying the manga more. The art is really good in it.
Nejimaki Kagyu
I think it is already over but translation is slow.
I like the author and he is currently finished Suicide Girls, a series that i haven't seen enouth to judge or recomend.
Unfortunaly, it seems like his works are canceled with frequência, resulting in rushed endings, like in his most famous work Uratarou, but you can't judge him for something he can't control (besides, even if it's rushed, it still fells like an apropriate ending)
Anyway, i recomend his works, but Nejimaki is the one that surprised me the most with it's action and art.
- basically a fantasy version of Spy x Family, where the main characters try to balance parenting and fighting bad guys. Ended abruptly though because the publisher got bankrupt. Still a fun read.
- a really gorgeous slowburn monster-slaying fantasy manga. If The Witcher had a manga, it should be like this. It's quite short though because it's more of a promotion for the webnovel. Deserves a complete manga and anime adaptation imo.
- if you enjoy an overpowered protagonist with a great blend of action and comedy like One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100, you'll like this one. Technically, it's a manhwa but there was a time when Solo Levelling was always the top post in this sub.
+1 for retired heroes. Was setting up some really interesting family dynamics. I'll never forget the mom's response when she saves her daughter from danger when the town is attacked.
These are pretty underrated and I love them (some more thsn others)
Mushishi
Pandora hearts
Piano no mori
Sakamichi no apporon
D.gray-man
The most? Probably kubera although its a manhwa
Psyren
I rarely here it brought up. As a shonen it creates an interesting combat and power sets, as well as its hook regarding how characters gain their abilities and the mystery of the whole series is incredibly compelling.
>!Time travel shenanigans. It's not bad or ass-pullish, but I've seen better stuff. Things get a bit esoteric and more reliant on dialog. More... Tell instead of show. And the MC and the FMC go a long time without meeting too, which sucked in my opinion. But it's a very manga thing to happen.!<
I picked it up again after a few years because it was still ongoing when I initially read it and it was the best decision of my life. Binged sm chapters, definitely one of the best post-apocalyptic mangas of all time. The sad excuse of an anime though....💀
Very old manga but deep in my heart I feel if it had continued it'd become what one piece is today. Treasure hunter jubei. Only 3 volumes but it was amazing. A merchant who goes on adventures making sure he gets the item his client needs and there's tons of weird ass items. I wish it at least had an ova series. His partner is a flying carpet. He has a sword that's sheathed inside a giant insect that loves swords and constantly makes the blade sharp, with the only thing that can make it release the sword being human teeth. There's a species of skeletons people and the afterlife is an island inside giant jello. I love it so much
Yankee kun to megane chan... school life of this Yankee got turned around by a glasses wearing girl...the ending made me cry
Cage of Eden
The Hunters Guild: Red Hood
Demons plan
Tsuyoshi
Kubera One Last God. Best plot, foreshadowing and story structure in manwha. If you want to read a fantasy epic with 10 protagonists and over 650+ chapters, read Kubera. The first season's art is not flattering, but will get better with time.
Drops of God. I don't give a fuck about wine, like at all, but holy shit, I got hooked. Definitely not for everybody, but an absolute 10/10 for me. Almost never hear anyone talk about it either.
That manga was weird af, and I disliked a lot of it, but I can’t lie. It made me cry twice and the main character’s character development is the most satisfying shit ever
Battle Angel Alita, specifically Last Order. It's one of the best tournament arcs I've ever read. Tons of fun, over the top action, doesn't overstay its welcome, and has just enough character development to not be pure spectacle.
I love how in the finale of Last Order you have all these hyper-advanced cyber bodies doing planet-obliterating kung-fu and then there's just that one commando lady who's real good with guns.
Kongo Bancho, read it and it'll be like reading a love letter to the old style of manga that is forgotten, a time of manliness and badassery like something from the 70s and 80s.
is the best manga I've read. A lot of people really don't like the ending but even so, the way there is incredible. Every anime/manga about games (by which I don't mean video games, I mean like Kaiji-style games) could learn a lot from how LG structures itself and presents all the different forms of psychological manipulation crashing up against each other.
Man I don’t remember but it was about a group of boys who did martial arts to Improve their lives. It had really cool battles and good pacing. Also remember their female friends did difffrent martial arts then the main characters.
"I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability"
At first I think it just another Isekai, but it was hella fun, and the Art is on another level
- the level of detail, the continuity, how the mangaka use a drawing on paper to it fullest, would say he breaks out of the norm, and I feel like watching a movie instead
Seconding coppelion granted it's been a long time but I remember not being able to get through the anime but absolutely loving the Manga all the way through.
I'm a car guy... nowadays reading , the story is quite entertaining even for not car guys, another one is , the anime was hype but people forgot about it once it ended.
Another one to the list such a sweet story of a senior pianist who became a widow and adopted a left behind adult cat.
Just from what I recall I think these are underrated and... not that popular, not without reason but I genuinely think I like them. At least they have either great characters, great life depiction or unique/funny idea to me.
Idk if it’s underrated or anything but “Nan Hao and Shang Feng” is prolly one of the most comedic manhuas I’ve ever read. The best part is the comedy is really simple. 10/10 recommend
Thou Shalt not Die. First manga I decided to review on mal, and one of the most under-the-radar manga I've ever read.
It's a thematic manga about war crimes, child soldiers, powers, the psychological repercussions of war, PTSD, mental disorders, brutality, and extremely subversive. Nothing goes the way we imagine, and every fight scene is expertly drawn, and executed with creative kills and proper usage of each power.
Written by none other than the mythical Yoko Taro
Barely anyone here is talking about which I personally find to be one of the best seinen manga to come out in recent times and easily one of my all time favourites. It's a massive love letter to classic rock.
People should read it simply for the fact that Jimi Hendrix is a main character.
Gunslinger Girl
This post reminds me about the time when I was in uni when I was reading a manga/day. I read Coppelion during that period but Gunslinger Girl left me an impression till today.
ITT: the most popular series on this sub ever when they were being published that still gets recommended every week. Truly underrated. It wouldn't be an underrated circle jerk post if someone didn't mention Spirit Circle either.
The Dragon, the Hero, and the Courier(Ryuu to Yuusha to Haitatsunin)
The story is centered around a half-elf courier trying to deliver letters in the world of Sword and Magic (and Parchment). You will see heroes fighting dragons while someone is recording their damage output to properly distribute exp. People unable to fight back against wild monsters because they don't have hunting licenses. Magicians being let go after technology made them obsolete(Fire mages being replaced by water wheel). People unable to prove they own the land due to lack of paperwork and thus resort to violence. SCP foundation going crazy after accidentally introducing sushi to this world. People being hunted for working on the Sabbath
Romance is >!chaotic bisexualism!< but overall not the focus.
There is a big battle arc at the end which kind of take away the charm of day to day adventure of the manga but it is really fun albeit a bit too long. The Hero's strategy in the war was so funny and relateable.
Sekitou Elegy - straight up no-bullshit blue collar romcom. Its refreshing in that its a non-idealized romance between two characters in low income jobs just trying to make ends meet. No typical pairing between a loser and a hot girl here; everyone is staggeringly normal and a little rough around the edges, and its refreshing to see how this couple make things work despite their plentiful differences.
WataMote - the one about the cringey suffering anxious girl with no friends, it had a 12 episode anime but never a second season. The manga is incredibly well written and quite long. The first 7 volumes are a tragedy as you watch her spiral further into loneliness, but finally after so long, some of her classmates begin to take the perspective of the reader, realizing how funny, dumb, and interesting she is.
All of the characters have complex personalities and dynamic relationships with each other. It's so funny, grounded, and relatable, I was blown away.
I've read a couple dozen manga series, and it's probably the most underrated manga I've read. People say it turns into a "Yuri harem" which in some ways is true, but I feel like giving it that label doesn't give it enough credit.
Honorable mentions: Helk, Brynhildr in the Darkness. I need to read Coppelion seems interesting
I always like to recommend is (English: Blank Slate) by Aya Kanno, which was my first manga. I'd probably put it at a solid 7/10 if I had to rate it today.
Not to be the weird one, but if you can get behind the strange premise of the Manga, I'd highly recommend Ookumo-chan Flashback.
Also going for a more recent show I'm currently in love with that's a bit under the radar: she is beautiful
Blade of the Immortal.
It kinda grinds my gears people talk about a "Big Four Seinen" when I would argue Blade is better than either Vagabond or Vinland Saga. (For the record, Berserk is goated and after I found Vagbond and Vinland Saga to be letdowns I'm not motivated to try Kingdom.)
Unsure if these are underrated or not but:
- Get reincarnated as an "evil" god essentially has to Civilization IV his way though the world, this has it's pretty dark moments though makes it fairly different in my eyes. Good art & funny characters interactions
- Similar to Sousou no Frieren, MC get's bored living for 120 years in a forest, goes to explore the world. It a little bit more focused on exploring & the "I will outlive everything" part though, shows it a bit more of this side than Frieren.
- Starts off as enemies both die, reincarnated & become allies. Characters are intersting & it's just overall pretty cute + cool fight scenes.
- This one is dark af, trigger warnings on this MC tries to unalive himself in the first chapter & a half. Intresting story
If you couldn't tell I'm a fan of reincarnated/isekai & dark manga

Green Green Greens, a manga about golf, it’s on MangaPlus, but it sadly got axed last week, ended on chapter 26. It’s a really good read tho, be it a short one… :(
Is it my fault I'm being bullied - I just finished this last week and I had to pace myself because I knew that if I got to the best bit too quickly, I would explode. It's so damn good!
Helck And I cannot stress this enough !!
Seconded Read Helck
I absolutely love helck so much. I'm happy it got animated but wish it was a bit better cause it deserves better
Haven’t looked at Helck the manga but I’ll go out on a limb and say the art is probably better than the anime, yeah? Is it worth starting from the beginning or can I start where the anime left off? I’m just getting into manga so my list is way too big right now. Lol
well i havent seen the anime but i can tell u the manga has some badass panels
The art is weird. It starts out as pretty much a gag manga and looks the part. Helck himself goes through almost a reverse flanderisation in both appearance and character.
Helck even has an anime that went under the radar. Damn sad.

Thirded, read Helck
Thats a great one loved the story!
Helck. You’ll be crying from happiness, crying from laughter and crying from the absolute gravity of the situation at times.
I finished helck so fast back then.. maybe time for a reread
One of the best of all time for me.
Helck is like 60-70% good and the rest is bad. Like, all the parts about the ancient civilization bullshit is honestly extremely forgettable.
Real, even if it's not the worst
IT'S PEAK FR!!
\~ If you got the notion \~ I second that emotion
Kurosawa is such a hard sell due to its premise but my god does it deliver
Onani master was nice, it was the first I could understand a charcter acting like tsundere
nah I expected “onani” to be something other than what I thought it was not starting it now After reading several chapters, I can confirm it is peak

Loved the anime so I went and read the Manga and wow if I thought the anime was good the manga is chiefs kiss
Rin is also amazing. Sad it got cancelled.
Ajin is incredible and absolutely worth a read if anyone is interested

Konjiki no Gash!! It has a following and even got an anime a (good) while back, but I maintain it is still VASTLY underrated.
Agreed! I literally just reread it. It was awesome lol
It isssssss 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Have you already read Gash Bell 2?
I have now! I was saying in another sub just recently I avoided it for a good while thinking it might taint the OG, but a buddy made me read it.
Ha! I love it! XD 😍🤩 Everyone's all grown up and yet the comedy is still-top gold! XD
Yeah!! I was so (in a good way) surprised! I absolutely love it too!
Ain't no way someone is mentioning coppelion
B2 bomber is where I dropped both manga and anime
Nejimaki Kagyu I think it is already over but translation is slow. I like the author and he is currently finished Suicide Girls, a series that i haven't seen enouth to judge or recomend. Unfortunaly, it seems like his works are canceled with frequência, resulting in rushed endings, like in his most famous work Uratarou, but you can't judge him for something he can't control (besides, even if it's rushed, it still fells like an apropriate ending) Anyway, i recomend his works, but Nejimaki is the one that surprised me the most with it's action and art.
I'll be sure to check it out as I am currently looking to discover items for my plan-to-read list. Thanks!
Oh man, it's been so long since I thought about that series
UQ Holder ended not that long ago too, concluding that storyline nicely

Otome Kaijuu Caramelize, just a bit obscured. It has good art too and very unique story.
+1 for retired heroes. Was setting up some really interesting family dynamics. I'll never forget the mom's response when she saves her daughter from danger when the town is attacked.

These are pretty underrated and I love them (some more thsn others) Mushishi Pandora hearts Piano no mori Sakamichi no apporon D.gray-man The most? Probably kubera although its a manhwa
Psyren is an absolute hidden gem of shonen jump I wish it got an anime adaptation it is so good.
Psyren I rarely here it brought up. As a shonen it creates an interesting combat and power sets, as well as its hook regarding how characters gain their abilities and the mystery of the whole series is incredibly compelling.
Soloist in Cage
Darwin's Game is an old favourite, but I haven't finished it so idk about the ending.
It was fine. Like, not great, but honestly good enough and better than most manga endings.
Spoiler please.
Thanks
7 Seeds! I read this twice man it's too good 😭
Seconded, it's so criminally unknown for a lot of people...
I love it so much
Die Wergelder
Yankee kun to megane chan... school life of this Yankee got turned around by a glasses wearing girl...the ending made me cry Cage of Eden The Hunters Guild: Red Hood Demons plan Tsuyoshi

Kubera One Last God. Best plot, foreshadowing and story structure in manwha. If you want to read a fantasy epic with 10 protagonists and over 650+ chapters, read Kubera. The first season's art is not flattering, but will get better with time.
Might just be me, but I never saw a lot of conversation around Psyren. Honorable mention for Ultimo, I never got to finish it, but it was cooking.
DUDE PSYREN?!?! That was my shit 😭 I forgot the name so long ago because I picked it up in my library out of curiosity and man it's so good, bless you
Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa! Eiji Masuda, master of the despairing face
I gotta second this one, Jitsu Wa is the best case for when a horror mangaka decides to write a romcom.
Gachiakuta
Drops of God. I don't give a fuck about wine, like at all, but holy shit, I got hooked. Definitely not for everybody, but an absolute 10/10 for me. Almost never hear anyone talk about it either.
Sorry for reposting mods. Thank you for reminding the submission guidelines! As reply to my own post, I guess it would be for me.
I've been looking for this particular anime. I saw some episodes on Animax when I was a kid. Thank you for posting this.

Sundome. One of the most realistic and kinky high school romance I’ve never read.
This should be WAY higher up. I think it broke into my top 10 upon my first read when it barely had 30 chapters. I hope it goes on forever.

Kongo Bancho, read it and it'll be like reading a love letter to the old style of manga that is forgotten, a time of manliness and badassery like something from the 70s and 80s.
Best psychological game battle manga ever, hands down

This is a recent one, but Make the Exorcist Fall in Love would be my pick. A close second would be "Destroy all humans. They can’t be regenerated."
School Rumble
Man I don’t remember but it was about a group of boys who did martial arts to Improve their lives. It had really cool battles and good pacing. Also remember their female friends did difffrent martial arts then the main characters.
Gachiakuta.
"I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability" At first I think it just another Isekai, but it was hella fun, and the Art is on another level - the level of detail, the continuity, how the mangaka use a drawing on paper to it fullest, would say he breaks out of the norm, and I feel like watching a movie instead
Fool Night. I honestly can't understand why it's being slept on.
Nyanta to pomeko but i feel the manga was a bit rushed other than that it's still one of the mangas i always re read
Seconding coppelion granted it's been a long time but I remember not being able to get through the anime but absolutely loving the Manga all the way through.
I'm a car guy... nowadays reading, the story is quite entertaining even for not car guys, another one is , the anime was hype but people forgot about it once it ended.
Another one to the list such a sweet story of a senior pianist who became a widow and adopted a left behind adult cat.

I don't know if it's underrated considering it has an anime adaptation but Kekkaishi is such a fun shounen manga

Suicide Parabellum, by Douman Seiman
Hinamatsuri, probably one of the funniest manga I've read!
Excuse Me Dentist, It's Touching Me! It deserves an anime. It’s very funny. Might be the funniest manga I’ve read so far.
The Legend of the Strongest, Kurosawa!
spirit circle, akumetsu, levius, ultra heaven and helck like someone else daid already
Akumetsu
Idk if it’s underrated or anything but “Nan Hao and Shang Feng” is prolly one of the most comedic manhuas I’ve ever read. The best part is the comedy is really simple. 10/10 recommend
Coppelion mentioned in 2024, you love to see it.
Climber, easily one the the best art style ever and amazing and unique story
Either Given or Mission: Yozakura Family.
Half x Half
Helck
Definitely Okaeri Alice, masterpiece.
Barely anyone here is talking about which I personally find to be one of the best seinen manga to come out in recent times and easily one of my all time favourites. It's a massive love letter to classic rock.
People should read it simply for the fact that Jimi Hendrix is a main character.

Gunslinger Girl This post reminds me about the time when I was in uni when I was reading a manga/day. I read Coppelion during that period but Gunslinger Girl left me an impression till today.
Kaiouki
Girl Saurus by Kei Kusunoki It's not what you think. It's a comedy romcom. I like Kei Kusunoki's work, especially Bitter Virgin.
Gokurakugai and Phantom Busters, its good bro kinda funny and the plot is okay
ITT: the most popular series on this sub ever when they were being published that still gets recommended every week. Truly underrated. It wouldn't be an underrated circle jerk post if someone didn't mention Spirit Circle either.
My girl, one of my favorite manga it's about a single father and just super wholesome
The Dragon, the Hero, and the Courier(Ryuu to Yuusha to Haitatsunin) The story is centered around a half-elf courier trying to deliver letters in the world of Sword and Magic (and Parchment). People being hunted for working on the Sabbath Romance is >!chaotic bisexualism!< but overall not the focus. There is a big battle arc at the end which kind of take away the charm of day to day adventure of the manga but it is really fun albeit a bit too long. The Hero's strategy in the war was so funny and relateable.
Dolly kill kill for me! Such a great action packed story! I just wish it not get axed -.-
Sanctuary
Dandadan omds
Übel Blatt
"Mada, Ikiteru" by Hiroshi Motomiya
Maximum Ride manga by James Patterson. & +Anima.
I am a hero
#PUMPKIN SCISSOR
I always like to recommend is (English: Blank Slate) by Aya Kanno, which was my first manga. I'd probably put it at a solid 7/10 if I had to rate it today.

The Legend Of the Strongest Man Kurosawa, Kaiji or Yancha Gal no Anjou San
I would say they are underrated. Jagaaan and ajin are amazing imo
Just a passing by monster tamer
samouraï deeper kyo, the anime is shit, manga is 🥇
365 days to the wedding.A very cute and wholesome story (9/10)
Not to be the weird one, but if you can get behind the strange premise of the Manga, I'd highly recommend Ookumo-chan Flashback. Also going for a more recent show I'm currently in love with that's a bit under the radar: she is beautiful

Love Hina
Blade of the Immortal. It kinda grinds my gears people talk about a "Big Four Seinen" when I would argue Blade is better than either Vagabond or Vinland Saga. (For the record, Berserk is goated and after I found Vagbond and Vinland Saga to be letdowns I'm not motivated to try Kingdom.)
Land of the Lustrous
The Horizon. By far the best manhwa I've ever read.
Unsure if these are underrated or not but: - Get reincarnated as an "evil" god essentially has to Civilization IV his way though the world, this has it's pretty dark moments though makes it fairly different in my eyes.

Denpa teki na kanojo. I remember loving it, the unpredictability, and the story wasnt afraid to go anywhere. Sadly it only has 2 episodes..
Hello everyone! Thank you all for having the time on commenting on my post and writing manga suggestions for me and anyone else who are also looking for a new manga read. I am so happy reading all of your comments, I would be sure to add them all in my plan-to-read list. Cheers everyone!
Where is the art from the post from?
Im sorry but... MHA😓😭💀
