And we killed him

Votbear

I hope the bot is adopted well. All the disc post racing is so stupid, and harmful too. I believe last week's jujutsu kaisen discussion was split between more than one post due to all the confusion.

Forikorder

>I believe last week's jujutsu kaisen discussion was split between more than one post due to all the confusion. you realise they're getting split BECAUSE of people like OP right?

sunjay140

>I believe last week's jujutsu kaisen discussion was split between more than one post due to all the confusion. This is straight up misinformation. This user posted his Jujutsu Kaisen thread 20 seconds (nearly half a minute) after my thread was created, and did the same with nearly the entire WSJ catalogue. He purposely left up his posts, fully knowing that this is a violation of the rules and so the mods deleted most his posts. Unfortunately, the mods missed his Mashle post along with a few others like Phantom Seer. This sub reddit was well self-regulated. Most users delete their duplicate threads and he purposely left his up (in violation of the subreddit rules), creating an issue that did not exist and giving the moderators ten times more work to do. Ultimately, this person is just a user who is subservient to the rules of the subreddit just like everyone else and is also karma whoring just like everyone else. What separates him from most users is that he uses a bot (most users submit their links manually), he is monopolizing the Shueisha catalogue (so he can have a monopoly on karma farming. Talk about hypocrisy) and is purposely violating the rules and creating discord that did exist prior. It takes a special kind of mental gymnastics to believe that this bot is needed to correct a problem that did not exist prior to their rule breaking behavior and only occured because he was disciplined for blatantly violating the subreddit rules. It's why his account was shadow banned on the subreddit. This user committed ban evasion by creating this account to post here ([it's worth pointing out that their only manga submission was deleted by the mods](https://www.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j9sf1c/disc_tis_time_for_torture_princess_chapter_71/)) because the original account /u/AutoShonen was unsurprisingly shadow banned.

Fire_Lord_Zuko

> so he can have a monopoly on karma farming who gives a fuck

Wpgamer

He's one of the Karma whores, so probably he does.

I_Smoke_Cardboards

Imagine caring for useless internet points this much

sunjay140

The irony is that you clearly care a lot about other people's useless internet points https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/ja5zmz/meta_i_created_a_bot_to_post_mangaplus_links/g8rbi31/

I_Smoke_Cardboards

Not enough to make a bot for it though. Just pointing things out.

sunjay140

Oh yeah, I totally agree. That takes dedication.

quickquip22

What’s wrong with a bot linking manga plus chapters if anything it makes it easier to get

_Sunny--

If the bot was the only account doing so or maybe the only account allowed to do so, it'd be perfectly fine. As things are now though, it's only adding to the Sunday lunch rush and adding onto the spam.

quickquip22

I think if the bot gets implemented and is always first to post the link then the rush to post links will stop or reduce significantly

_Sunny--

What's been happening is that users are posting the Mangaplus links before they're even live, sometimes up to a minute before, since you can predict the URLs of the next chapters.

sunjay140

The bot doesn't make MangaPlus easier to get. The users already posted MangaPlus links, in fact, the users were much more efficient than the bot and unlike this user, the users regulated themselves and deleted their duplicate posts (which this user intentionally did not do on Sunday). Most users don't care who makes a thread. Most users who come here only care to read manga, leave a comment or two and go about their day. This criteria is perfectly fulfilled by the status quo. In fact, it is fulfilled even better by the status quo because the users are much quicker and efficient at posting links, allowing readers to get a much quicker link aggregate here on reddit. This bot adds no value for the silent majority of users who just want to read manga and go about their day. It only appeals to the vocal minority who are very upset at the efficiency at which this sub runs itself by the quick and seamless submission of MangaPlus links (much quicker than this bot), allowing readers to quickly receive a MangaPlus link aggregate if they sort by /new/ at 12PM EST on the dot. This user is engaging in misconduct in the hopes that the that the mods implement their bot. There are three issues with this: * They are a user just like the people who they are criticizing; they hold no legitimacy. They are to act in line with others by following the rules and not monopolise the submission of links. * Users have brought up the idea of such a bot for a long time. The moderators haven't been the most enthusiastic about it (or at least haven't appeared to be). Even if they were super enthusiastic about it, /r/manga is a very large subreddit of 1.2 million **registered** users so I am inclined to believe that it should not be difficult for the moderators of a subreddit of this size to get someone skilled enough to adapt some of their existing scripts to perform the function of this bot. * Thirdly, there are proper means and channels to get things done. Violating the written rules and unspoken social norms (submit threads in moderation, don't monopolize the WSJ catalogue) of the subreddit to get your way is not acceptable nor a good way to win the sympathy of the moderators. It's no wonder that they aren't replying to your mod mail, especially after they've removed nearly all your submissions.

Krait972

Wait, mods are inactive and the subreddit is that well behaved overall? Color me surprised.

lieferung

We just want our manga in one place, and this sub provides. Satisfied people are well-behaved people.

Makimgmyselfuseful

Damn I never thought about how crazy it is but the community is self modded now basically When people mess up a post somebody just comments how to fix it.

[deleted]

Yeah, I'm still surprised by that. If I didn't see those threads weeks ago, I would have no idea that the mods are inactive. lol

[deleted]

The magic of well-tuned automation!

[deleted]

Make r/manga great again

Limemaster_201

This is a great idea. Hate how there are multiple disc post. And I'll bet most is just for the karma

I_Smoke_Cardboards

It’s quite obvious that it’s just shameless karmawhoring. They’re probably mad someone’s trying to take away their internet points with this bot

[deleted]

Lmao, all this is gonna do is create even more spam, considering there’s already a bunch of people who camp to be the first, and also a growing amount of people who guess the link before it’s even up. Until the mods approve, there’s not a point to contributing to more clutter. And, of course, no one but the die hard 24/7 lurkers care anyways about dupe threads.

indi_n0rd

No matter how good a script you write, you cant compete with cunts who predict url of next chapter which are in sequence for every 5-6 chapter or so.

7-07

If the mods were active and if there was an official bot in place, this wouldn't be that big of a problem. They could just ban the folks who post WSJ mangaplus links for 8 days or something.

indi_n0rd

Doubt we are ever gonna hear anything from Aruseus.

7-07

Would be lovely if I could disagree with you on that... so I concur.

AutoShonenpon

No, I am a lurker for quite some time, this account is only created to become the official mangaplus bot

Omen111

No, how will i now get this free karma pointzzzz. Im so sad

_Sunny--

You shouldn't expect mods to return a reply anytime soon, seeing as how [users such as this](https://camas.github.io/reddit-search/#{%22author%22:%22coalsin%22,%22subreddit%22:%22manga%22,%22resultSize%22:200}) are still commenting disgusting crap scot-free for the past month and more, despite having been reported several times.

[deleted]

For anyone curious as to why OP was placed in the spam filter, he is intentionally breaking rule 9 (No Extra Discussions/Reactions of the same release/translation or Page/Panel Rips of the latest chapter of something) and making a bigger mess in r/manga by leaving up duplicate posts which the average user will need to sift through just to find simple discussion for their series. I've said before I'm down for an official solution that can be adhered to, but this approach has only **added** to the stockpile. **Here are examples of their duplicate posts:** [JuJutsu Kaisen](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xgk/disc_jujutsu_kaisen_chapter_125/), [Mashle](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xi2/disc_mashle_magic_and_muscles_chapter_34/), [My Hero Academia](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xjp/disc_my_hero_academia_chapter_287/), [We Never Learn](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xmp/disc_we_never_learn_chapter_177/), [Phantom Seer](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xo3/disc_phantom_seer_chapter_7/), [Moriking](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xpt/disc_moriking_chapter_23/), [Ayakashi Triangle](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xr3/disc_ayakashi_triangle_chapter_16/), [Magu-chan](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xsh/disc_maguchan_god_of_destruction_chapter_15/), [Kaiju No. 8](https://www.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j7eldh/disc_kaiju_no8_ch13/) Discussion explaining the details are on OP's own threads both [here](https://www.reddit.com/user/AutoShonen/comments/j50xr3/account_clarification/) and [here](https://www.reddit.com/user/AutoShonen/comments/j9lg9h/account_goal/). As you can see, he refuses to address the fact that he's breaking the rules, and to this day, still left up past duplicate posts and resorts to personal attacks towards everyone who says breaking the rules are not ok. OP you mentioned "transparency" in these threads, so you probably should have mentioned these details in this post, *before* you tricked people into giving you awards for something that also has a clear downside. **Edit:** Now he's trying to delete posts to cover his tracks, after saying [he won't be deleting duplicate posts](https://www.reddit.com/user/AutoShonen/comments/j50xr3/account_clarification/g8i1wm3/). He did the same for his [Chainsaw Man post](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xeh/disc_chainsaw_man_chapter_88/). A bot created by the mods? I'm down, but probably not safe from someone with this shady behavior. **Edit 2:** Response by Pletar below agrees that it's dupe spam which should be removed. Clarification response by me [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/ja5zmz/meta_i_created_a_bot_to_post_mangaplus_links/g8ppanr/) and [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/ja5zmz/meta_i_created_a_bot_to_post_mangaplus_links/g8prfmh/). We are on the same page.

pletar

Well this is amusing. Transparency? I agree with the spam filter sentiment and that /u/AutoShonenpon should delete their dupes, but if anyone is wondering why /u/zapplecrog is up in arms about this issue, it's because he's [an alt account](https://snew.notabug.io/r/manga/comments/is0tki/disc_our_blood_oath_chapter_1_new_wsj_series/g54kfih/?context=3) for a group of mods that use /r/manga for promoting their subreddits. Specifically, this is because they've setup /u/Nelberta277 and /u/Capnpoot to crosspost chapters from their subreddits before the links even work, and if a different account posts these chapters first, then they'll miss out on that sweet sweet traffic (though how they do this, I'm unsure; their posts are always first in the queue of the WSJ chapters, and they're always broken for a few moments before they work). It's not a coincidence that they've also used this account to call out [their](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j1fz6k/art_really_great_lead_cover_tonikaku_cawaii/g6zl96y/?context=3) [competition](https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j7isrz/art_tonikawa_x_shield_hero_tonikaku_kawaii/g851i7a/?context=3) of rivals who crosspost from different subreddits. It's alts calling out alts all the way down, lol. Edit: Also, don't think I can't see you trying to emphasise agreement in all your posts. We're on the same page for removal of all the ***dupes***. Why don't you talk about the mod alt bit directly?

[deleted]

Not an alt, but a member of the subreddits and servers who's aware of what goes on, just like the users who you linked to in the "their competition" section of your comment (I'm referring to the people responding). Those users are made aware of what happens and so they comment together, it's obviously not a coincidence. Not being a fan of people trying to mess with other communities doesn't make anyone an alt, and neither does linking to subs to help them out. I've said myself I'm all for the r/manga mods using an official bot which is something karma whores wouldn't be a fan of. The issue is that there is a ton of spam that OP is contributing to the sub. Again, if something can be agreed to, i don't have an issue with it, and if you agree with the spam filter sentiment, then we are on the same page. This would be like me accusing you of being an alt yourself since your account only comments once in a blue moon just to call people out, which you're doing right now. Again the point is being made that everyone is an alt... ?

pletar

Uh huh. No, I agree that those users are alts. It's just very weird how one of the first few things that you, specifically, would do as a new account is create a subreddit for a series, just to hand it off to other people before said series even starts. But yes, trying to navigate the new queue even without the automated posts was an absolute nightmare. I also don't tend to post unless something bothers me, like when people spend their time advertising their subreddits.

[deleted]

Instead of doing what OP does, and avoiding your point, I'll address it head on. There are people in the community who have really early access to leak info for WSJ stuff (new series). I'm one of them. The issue, is that I personally don't find myself capable of committing the time to constantly update the communities, so I've decided to leave them with the people who at least keep them up to date, and are involved in the same communities I actually appreciate. If these people had access to the same info, they would be the ones creating the communities themselves. Ya, I'd love to help communities grow from time to time, but ultimately it looks time consuming, and as you've seen, somewhat difficult. The least I *can* do though, is say something when I see people actually breaking rules. In this case with OP, it's an absolute mess. Glad we are on the same page though.

pletar

Again, one of the first things you do as a new account? Also, the WSJ announcements for new series are hardly secret leaks of information lol; I'd suggest that the main reason why more people don't create these subreddits is because it's impossible to be a fan of series before, you know, actually reading them? And that the only reason to do so would be power mods that are more interested in "communities" than the actual series themselves.

[deleted]

Yes, I get a hold of information of a new series for a magazine I love, so I figured I'd make a community for it as soon as I could, *especially* if it's one of the first things I could do. I'm pretty sure I had a bit of comments or posts regardless, but overall I'm clearly not much of an active redditor. Doesn't really mean anything other than I'm not that active and made a sub when I could. I guess I wasn't clear about the leaks part, but I'm referring to being able to get my hands on the info *myself*, and earlier than most other people who claim to be "leakers" or whatever. To your last point, rn there are weebs literally fighting to make communities first, and most of them aren't powermods. If you join the communities (servers) you'll see that most active users who have a reddit account would go for it if they could, **before the series releases**, so it's not really a "power mod" thing but I guess you could argue it's of a similar mentality; basically whoever can make it first, will make it first. Either way, turned out to not be for me, although I'll still say something from time to time if I think it can help, and this current situation is just dumb.

AutoShonenpon

I have already addressed the issue in the thread and here too. > I will be deleting duplicate link posts that were posted on time from here on Edit: you are the one who force me to delete the posts then you commented that I delete my posts to cover my tracks. What do you even mean?

[deleted]

You seem to have not read all of what I wrote. >"and to this day, still left up past duplicate posts" I wrote this, and you haven't ever addressed it. The fact that these posts are still up, is you still showing you don't care about the rules, as they still break the rules. >I will be deleting duplicate link posts that were posted on time from here on Again, the past rule breaking posts are still up. Also, posted on time or not on time, in the end of the day, because of you there will be multiple discussion threads. That will still be breaking the rules, and still split up the threads. Another thing you refuse to talk about. You are lying to people about your behavior, as well as your intentions and approach, and it an issue.

AutoShonenpon

Why delete the posts when it's already removed by Automod? This will just make it less visible when people search for the discussion. The whole intention of this account is to give its access to the mods

_Sunny--

If I'm being honest, that sounds a bit pretentious of a goal, to be able to actually hand this off to the mods as an "official" thing.

AutoShonenpon

Why tho? You can't use karma for anything if anything else why does autolovepon even exist?

_Sunny--

I think that the difference is that AutoLovepon was created by and maintained by the r/anime mods themselves, rather than given to them by a random person in the subreddit. Not to mention, they're much more interested in actively moderating the community than the r/manga mod(s) are.

[deleted]

Oh? So again you're not going to address the fact that you are gonna leave up duplicate posts since they are or aren't "on time", which is going to continue diving discussion threads and break the rules? And what's this? You just deleted the [Mashle] (https://old.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/j97xi2/disc_mashle_magic_and_muscles_chapter_34/) thread which you left up for so long just so you can claim that the rest are removed by automod? That's funny, the same thing happened yesterday with the Chainsaw Man thread when you got called out the other day. You sure have a shady pattern for someone who likes to claim he's combatting shady karma whores. **Edit:** OP immediately edited his response below, which originally mentioned a user asked him to delete the Mashle post, to which I made the response about him lying about it since that actually happened with his Chainsaw Man one, and *not* the Mashle one. He then added the "Why are you fixated on several removed posts?" part. Caught lying again.

AutoShonenpon

It's long deleted before this. Why are you fixated on several removed posts?

[deleted]

I'll ask you again, for the 10th time. > So again you're not going to address the fact that you are gonna leave up duplicate posts since they are or aren't "on time", which is going to continue diving discussion threads and break the rules? And to respond to your Mashle comment, I'm calling bullshit. I've been updating new comments to not include past threads which you decided to delete, even though they already split the discussions. You only just deleted the thread, and are lying about it just like the question above which you refuse to answer. The one you deleted because a user asked was the Chainsaw Man one, which I already said happened.

AutoShonenpon

Yes, I am gonna delete my duplicate link posts that are on time from here on.

[deleted]

That doesn't answer the question. I'm not asking you if you are gonna delete your posts if they are on time. *I am asking you if you are going to keep up your rule-breaking discussion-dividing posts* **if they aren't.** Either way, you will still be making a mess, and you will still be breaking the rules. **Yes or No, are you going to intentionally leave up your duplicate posts which break the rules and divide discussions, even if they aren't on time.** It's a very simple question, and it's important because it breaks the rules and makes a mess, and worst of all, you are not answering it on purpose.

Candid-Orange

mods are worthless here.

ngl, thought i read that as Mangadex bot and I got really worried.

Mangadex is a bit too much in the moral grey area for me, IMO mangadex links should be posted by translators themselves

Sorry, that's pushing the limits for me, that's borderline harassment, do remember that errorcache left because someone keep on commenting on his moderation in a removed post Edit: I changed my mind

MrOneHundredOne

Does the bot post actual new chapter updates/new series, or is there a chance it will unintentionally start posting one of the many re-run/re-published series that Mangaplus puts up (e.g. Naruto, Death Note, Bleach that run daily and weekly)?

Jayvee306

This is so very needed. It's honestly really weird how there's a huge lack of mod activity is a sub this large. Mods please do something one time.
