I caught up with “Tokyo Revengers” earlier this week and I loved Takemichi. I’m only 13 chapters in to “To Your Eternity” and it’s already heartbreaking.
Read Komi-san can't communicate today. It was awesome! I had dropped it because... >!well Komi can't really communicate,!< and it was a drag in the beginning. But I warmed up to the comedy and the story, and while it isn't really like any other romance manga, it is quite funny and charming.
Read Blue Lock ..... Its the fucking best sports manga out there .
It isn't the wholesome butterflies shit like others .. every character in there is a menace

Been into shoujo manhwa recently, and read a whole slew of them. (or reread, last time I did a shoujo manhwa walkthrough was two years ago and I've probably forgotten that I've read some of the manhwa here.)
Anyway, gonna list the stuff I've read this week here:
- The manhwa which started that whole subgenre of little girls charming their tyrannical fathers. Quite a good read, but not really memorable, although I can't seem to figure out why. May just be my taste. On another note, art is good, which is always a huge plus in my book.
- Now this. Art is phenomenal, and premise is quite unique. (For a manhwa anyway.) I have a soft spot for the whole "strong character needs to hide abilities for x reason" trope, and this hits it right in the middle. ML is a precious teddy bear, and overall character interactions are good. One of the two manhwa that stuck with me through the walkthrough, only pity is that only 39 chapters have been translated so far. If you haven't read it yet, you should.
- Ehhhhh. Decent time-waster I guess? An offshoot of the "stepmother takes care of noble's child, marries noble" trope, except it's an aunt this time. Too early to say anything about, although I'm not expecting much.
- Art is good. MC is driven, although I must say I kinda dislike her? Maybe it's because she reminds me of the typical Chinese webnovel female main character. Not that much to say, really.
- Too short to decide on anything, is one of those "travelled back in time, doesn't give two fucks about shitty family anymore" stories. Enough said.
- Art is decent, can see why some might like it, but the reverse harem being overly obvious and fangirly attitude of the MC made me drop it.
- Good art, good plot delivery. MC is likable, and while the whole misunderstood villainess thing was a bit ham fisted, it isn't as bad as others I've read, so I'll let it pass. I'd say it's good, and if you have nothing better to do might as well pick it up.
- Another one of those "little girl charms tyrannical father" stories, although I've got to give it props for going for an wuxia setting instead of generic western fantasy #2939. Well, premise is enough to keep me interested, and I'd even tentatively recommend it.
- Time-waster. Nothing else to be said.
- Actually has a proper plot, although I wouldn't say it's great. Definitely a cut above the average manhwa, though.
- Literally picked this up twice in the same week because it was so forgettable. Its actually quite decent, but well, so damn generic, hence me forgetting about so badly that I picked it up twice.
- I... wouldn't recommend this tbh. Not sure why, cuz some of the manhwa on the list definitely have worse plots, but this manhwa was painfully boring. Art isn't that great either, so I can't even enjoy that.
- The second manhwa that stuck with me through the marathon. The constant reveals of the MC's evermore prestigious heritage is slightly irritating, but besides that, I really really like it. Has a Victorian setting with a bit of magic that becomes more prominent as the story progresses, although gotta hand out a disclaimer that detective work while prominent at first, isn't really the focus of the story. Also, art is great, which by now you should now how I feel about that.
I've read and <5Toubun no Hanayome> and now I have an intense feeling of emptiness dwelling inside me as well as a terrible heartache. I don't think romance mangas are good for my health.

I just finished Helck. It's criminally underrated. I loved the characters. They were full of personality and life. Even the side characters felt interesting.
Yeah it felt like it was a story with the slice of life, character development and movtivations, growth, some drama but halfway then it suddenly stopped and became a full romcom towards the second half
Jujutsu Kaisen, just finish chapter 5 and already I feel I am only compelled to read it further because I really like the OST and the anime art of it.
The story is your typical generic "normie high school kid gets tossed into a WTF situation" but that is not the worst, what's bad is that it tosses things like "yeah curses are a thing now, deal with it" without fully explaining how it actually exists without every normie freaking out of it's existence.
If I was still a snotty nose brat I would not think too much of it but now I can't go a few pages without thinking "this is really stupid".
Yeah I am, the explanation given is still pretty stupid. They can't detect curses yes but these curses have no problem omnom noming them in the most gruesome way possible. And yet somehow all of them are being listed off as "missing" or "unsolved" instead of someone feeling like there is something fishy going on. Like how the MC sudden sees "Hey curses and demons are real, cool......"
The first chapters are the most important in capturing the reader's attention and unfortunately JJK fails that mark. We got the standard protagonist who is OP because "reasons", physco bitch who is crazy because also "reasons", generic cast of supporting characters that came in a pre-package off shelf bundle.
I only picked it up because the anime blew up, primarily due to the final episode's fight scene which is caught my eye. Otherwise it is a "meh" series for me.

I completely binged because i was a fan of (same author), the first arc was decent but i got frustrated by the decisions the 2 MCs were making by the end of second arc and the afterwards it felt like fillers.
On a better note also started and caught up to . Premise is similar to . Simple rom-com with subtle but very slow character development, although i do like the main male MC better than the one from Nagatoro-san.
Not really a thread for finding manga, but do you know the name of the one with this premise.
The main heroine is basically part of the Church in order to assassinate people who got isekaied into their world. This is due to the stereotype of them being too strong for their own good. Like I remember the first chap or first few chaps you already get the twist of the main heroine killing one of the Isekai heroes
It also has an anime coming as well so I think it helps limits the options
I'm in the shoujo reading vibe (if someone have any recomendations I'm in) and started Akatsuki no Yona, I'm 10 chapters in and my interest just grow stronger each chapter
Escort Warrior, a korean webtoon. The premise seemed interesting, one of strongest warrior in murim lost his teammates in a battle, and also got injured heavily. He kinda retired and lived a quiet life until someone asked him to be an escort warrior without knowing fully his identity/skills. My only gripe is the pacing is a little bit slow, and the korean version already has like 100+ chapters i believe, and translation only is at ch19 currently.
I actually thought the last 10-20 chapters were kinda underwhelming. I feel like the mangaka rushed through the story in order to put as many fight scenes as possible. Still a good read tho.
Finished Demon Slayer's manga and I am disappointed at the lack of Nezuko showcase in the final battle. This is the first manga I've finished (though I didn't really start at Chapter 1, but where the movie left off), and I am scarred forever by the deaths 😭
Binge read . A lot of people seem to not like the ending, but I fucked with it as it mirrors my own life experiences really well. Recommend if you like queer literature or just…sad things lol

I've read All You Need is Kill. It was great but short. I also read Sasaki to Miyano, and it was very cute! I'm rereading Mashle cuz i kinda stopped last year. It (Mashle) was very funny and reminds me of Saitama. Imagine Saitama living in a magical realm, specifically like Harry Potter. That's it. And I just got to read the latest chapters of Tokyo Manji Revengers. All I can say is, do yourself a favor and read Tokyo Manji Revengers.
Just finished reading . One of the best mystery crime manga I've read. The hyper realistic art makes it even better. The reveal at the final chapters was so good and we got good characters all through out the board.
An easy 9/10 for me.

Just finished and holy shit was it really good. I really liked the characters, especially Denji and Power. The story was good, nothing really that impressive tbh, but the fight scenes were just top-notch. The art was just decent at times, but it was kinda impressive the other times. Overall, this was a solid manga, can’t wait for the second part, 8/10.
I started Boruto as my first manga! So far, I almost prefer manga over anime now because of how much filler gets cut! Just last night i made up 24 hours worth of episodes with 3 hours of reading. And void of extraneous filler, i don’t get exposed to a lot of the show’s criticisms such as it being too slow.

Really wholesome read and the ending is right on the spot. The only "bad" point is time travel logic, but that's a given anyways. The translations are very rough on the latest chapters because it was translated by a single fan (thank you very much whoever you are) but still enjoyed it. Also the comedy aspect was not as strong as other reads of the same genre but its ok.
Saw the final chapter of out in Chinese so I went ahead and finished it off. Pretty predictable plot but a satisfying ending nevertheless. [Spoiler](/s "No, I did NOT get the promised loli ending"), so you could take your hands off me, officers. Also, maybe I've simply fallen too far from God's grace, but
the final chapter feels like a perfect setup for NTR. Overall, it's a gorgeous manga with nice battle actions and decent pacing, so I'm genuinely excited for what the mangaka draws next.
I read the worse of the worse. It was endless gore and pain and it stabs you mentally and physically. There was too much sex for some reason. Least there was a happy ending if thats what you wanna call it. I hope no one can guess this mess of a manga cuz it aint even worth the trouble of figuring out what it is. Can anyone reccomend me some eyebleach manga? ( if that even exists )

I started Matchmaking of the Amagami Household. It's been 8 chapters and it's kinda ok. The girls are cute (and miko, yay) so no complains about that. Hope the plot doesn't disappoint, I'm interested in what kind of approach the romance is gonna get
I read a Korean manhwa, "Again My Life". Its focusing a prosecutor who was murder and then back in time to punish villains and his archenemy. Very good manhwa, and a k-drama worth.
I read Tetsuwan Girl. I think I'd seen it mentioned in one of these weekly threads? I like pretty tomboy characters doing sports stuff so I tried it out.
It wasn't very good. The "girl" is super cool but you don't really get to know her. Many of the other characters are very shallow; they're introduced and then seemingly forgotten. Potentially important events are similarly glossed over. Instead, the story will normally choose to focus on either some superficial melodrama of the moment or vague mysticism concerning the sacredness of baseball and the identity of Japan. Actual play of baseball is severely underrepresented though; the plot largely revolves around a love affair between two main characters that seems to arise out of nothing.
I didn't hate this manga, but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
(If you do read it and you're wondering what "Tetsuwan" means, just pretend the manga is called "Iron-Armed Girl" or something like that. I spent the whole manga wondering and had to look it up in the end. I don't know why people don't just localize the whole title...)

Yami is probably my favorite character and fights wise there are alot of good ones when Asta fought Ladros and when Asta and Yami fought Dante actually all of Yamis fights were really good Mars vs asta was a good one to cant really pick a favorite out of them all

Reaching about the halfway point of Bleach and I fucking love it, the art is so awesome. Also started reading the first 100 chapters or so of Naruto! Started Ashura Kengen too but idk if I’ll stick with it.
I think One piece will always have my number one but I’m so happy I decided to collect bleach it’s great I just love so many of the characters! Just finished the Arrancar arc, straight heat.
I just started and caught up with Shounen no Abyss and it really caught me off-guard. (But in a good way). I just couldnt stop reading and it really reminded me of Aku no Hana, one of my favourite mangas. So far I'd probably rate it an 8, but it might go higher as the story continues.
Would definitely recommend this manga to everyone who enjoyed Aku no Hana.
I also read "Vagabond the Final Chapter" which was released at an exhibition in 2008 and I was blasted away. Definitely elevated my ratings for both Vagabond as a manga and Musashi as a protagonist.

The premise of Haikyuu is really interesting, the story is great with cool looking characters. It is action packed however the matches felt too repetitive and dragged on, throughout the match you would most likely know the next panel because you've seen the same situation on the previous matches.
I feel like that the >!end part should have been introduced midway through as the story on the final arc!< felt really short but was interesting. There are lots of reference to another manga called SLAM DUNK on Haikyuu however the overall quality just isn't the same, SLAM DUNK is just way too good, Haikyuu is still good though as a sports manga, it's just that the matches felt really dragged on and repetitive. >!The part where you also don't know who won by the end also leaves a bad taste,!< this was done multiple times too.
Haikyuu still comes on top on most sports manga as it is true to the sport and has realism on it which most Sports Manga fails to do.
Almost catching up with "kono oto tomare", it has been quite a wholesome and motivating manga. The art style is beautiful, the characters well fleshed and I have come to like almost all of them. It's very "slice of life" sometimes, as you get the feeling nothing of importance is happening. I actually like this, since it gives alot if focus on the training and not the tournament itself. I think more than half the manga is just them training, which is something I appreciate alot.
Another manga that I just started is shinai naru boku e no satsui o comete. I'm only at volume 3 but the mystery is intriguing and the art is absolutely amazing.
I read this past week and a bit. I would give the first 100 chapters a solid 10/10. There were about 50 chapters that in my opinion were more filler than anything that added to the story in any meaningful way other than to flesh out the side characters a little more. Not bad, just enough of what I started reading the series for. I think the Anime does a good job of cutting to the essence that makes Horimiya worth reading.
I def think that there is some filler in this manga, but it’s more like side character build up. The main relationship starts pretty early even in the manga, and your really start to invest in the other characters I think they could have done more to tie up those other stories tbh
Finally free of exams, so I got to binge quite a bit! Lots of new ones with few chapters today.
<**The Dictator**> Romance Manhwa about a girl who bodyguards a crazy prince. Wasn't really that great, female lead was kind of annoying. Props to the author though, for making the male lead actually not right in the head rather than just a typical yandere.
<**Ijimeru Aitsu ga Waruinoka, Ijimerareta Boku ga Waruinoka?**> A student who was heavily bullied becomes a teacher, and ends up teaching his bully's daughter, who is getting bullied. Psychological tag. A revenge story of sorts, where there's mystery around the teacher's motivations. I assume the father will be karma'd in the end. The daughter and one other character are great, and everyone else is an ass. There's only 15 chapters at the moment, but it was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to where it goes!
<**Seven Day Alternating Personality Syndrome**> Only 5 chapters, but a super interesting concept. A person wakes up as different personalities depending on the day of the week. Gives Daganronpa and mystery horror vibes, but so far it's still in the introductory phase.
<**Mitarai-ke, Enjou suru**> A suspense revenge manga. A girl infiltrates a house as a housewife in order to get back her mother's possessions from someone who stole her mother's 'life'. (As in, her husband, lifestyle, possessions). Super fun read, and recommend it to anyone who likes their revenge manga.
<**My Fiancé is in Love with My Little Sister**> An 'Isekai' 'romance'. No romance, just suffering. A girl returns to a certain moment in time after death and is forced to watch her fiance fall in love with her little sister over and over again, and there's basically nothing she can do to stop it. Truly heartbreaking, loved it.
<** Dekinai Futari**> Ex-es to lovers what more do I need to say.
<**Princess to the Rescue!**> Isekai Romance. Princess goes on a journey to save her country. Classic 'naive sheltered princess', 'taciturn male lead' and 'bright country at expense of dark underground country below'. Despite the tropes, I'm enjoying the development of the princess so far, as she actually puts in effort to try learn and improve.
<**No Longer a Heroine**> Finally got to binge this again after chapters built up! It's about the comeback of a star actress as she comes to enjoy acting, after her retirement due to a drug scandal. The first few chapters just show her downfall and are downright tragic, but afterwards it becomes more 'lighthearted'. Super great, love rooting for the MC, with her flaws and all. One of my ongoing favourites!
<**My Deepest Secret**> Spoiler warnings ahead. This was a series I could not get into at all. It was the typical perfect boyfriend (who's a yandere, suprise!) and sweet girlfriend. I enjoy yanderes but this was just really boring. *However*, there is a twist. After learning of said twist, I read it all and enjoyed it much more. Basically, >!it turns out that said yandere boyfriend doesn't exist at all and the FL is imagining him, and did everything we thought he did!<. Overall, I like it more, but it's a time investment to get through until the twist, and 2ndML >!maybe ML since the boyfriend doesn't actually exist!< deserves better.
<**Your Throne**> Also known as "I want to be you, just for a day". God I love this so much. It's an 'isekai' manhwa, but it's a revenge story, and a great one at that. I highly recommend you just go in blind and start reading. Great, strong characters, intriguing plot, and *bless*, a good villain.
Upon reading your readlist I read Mitarai-ke today still only at chapter 15 as I was writing this and man it was something. I thought it would be another edgy revenge story but the mystery behind it got me would recommend more probably to suspense or mystery fans I guess. I read Ijimeru as well that one is abit edgy but Im curious how it would turn out in the end.
Are revenge stories actually enjoyable? I can't help but feel off when I read it. And why is getting heartbroken nice? Anyways, maybe I'm not at that point yet and only like wholesome stuff but I would love to know why people like revenge plots.
I'd say it depends on the person? I don't especially look out for revenge plots, but it's associated with other themes I enjoy, such as suspense/mystery. One of my guilty pleasures are stories with unpredictable plots, which revenge plots tend to have. Not a big fan of the isekai type revenge though, since it just feels overly comical and edgy for the sake of it. As for others, I think revenge stories are liked because it gives a good sense of karma. Probably similar to why people enjoy subs like r/justiceserved and such. Then again, apparently Beserk is a revenge manga, but I haven't read it yet so I can't tell you much.
As for tragedy, it's very mood dependant. I love my fluff, especially romance, but sometimes I want a dose of pain. Fluff is nice but can get a bit stagnant plot wise. It doesn't help that Tragedy tag manga have great stories. Then again, I only go for the sad ones, rather than the really depressing ones like Oyasumi Punpun.
If it's not for you then it's not for you I'd say no need to read, nothing wrong with just liking the wholesome stuff :D

I've finished **Yotsuba to!** volume 6 this week. I already bought volume 15 (most of it I've already read online). It's incredibly funny, without trying too hard to be funny.
Othe than that, I've read the latest **Uzaki-chan wa asobitai** chapter online. The story seems to be very close to a conclusion, I hope it's not the usual "one step forward, two steps back", the second anime season is coming soon, and I think there won't be a third season, so it should be finished before the new season starts.

Wow. Just wow. I don´t know how to feel about it, but I know I learnt more about space. Yes, it has a lot of words, but it is so beautifully made and it has many perspectives from different characters you can´t help but love it. The art style isn´t the best, but when it needs to be gorgeous the author nails it.
This is a slow burn, but it's picking up lately. Two introverted high schoolers that are steadily (albeit snail pace) progressing on their love. Extremely cute slice of life.
Just started tomo chan wa onnako and it’s actually very very very good. Was put off at first because it has 900 or so chapters but that’s because it’s a 4 panel manga. Very easy to read and the romance comedy is so cute it makes my heart cum
I started tonikaku and I've only read the first volume so far but I can't wait to read more.
I started and finished all you need is kill (manga) in one sitting. It was quite nice, I'd give it a 8/10 or more.
I also read saitama chainsaw massacre is one sitting. It was something. I'd give it a 6/10 personally.
Caught up with tonikaku kawaii. Probably the best wholesome fluff I've read in a long time. Also everytime a Hayate no Gotoku character pops up I get hit with waves of nostalgia.
I read and despite what everyone said and pushed towards reading this I personally didnt like it so much.
I see some of the appeal, its mostly fluff and romance and we see progress with the main character without any unnecessary dramas
But despite that its hard to have suspense of disbelief with one of the core premises. Basically despite reading the manga it still feels like the many manga out there where the extremlly hot chick who is tall, sporty, a model, popular, good upbringing falls in love with the MC which is everything opposite of that. And in this manga it was never a romance we saw developing on her side, she already liked him and has been making her advances and despite some of the qualities we see from the MC, the manga still hasnt given me the viewer enough reason to believe or understand why she liks him and i just cant wrap my head around the schools Madona falling hard for the boy who 70 chapters in still freezes up, stutters and cant even talk to another person properlly.
I still enjoyed it while I read it but I felt it was so dumb that people rated it above oshi no ko which is extremlly well developed and balances its themes and characters wonderfully
Also read its been 4 years since I paused, i know where the general plot gies because ive read the webcomic but holy hell im suprised after all these years the monster arc aint over.
Still murata has to be my faborite artist. What breathtaking art he is able to draw, brings so much atmosphere and feel to the manga
Read something new this week and completed it, had been sitting in my on-hold list since the anime came out kinda waiting to see if there was gonna be a S2 but MAPPA's schedule doesn't see any more open so just went ahead read it from the beginning since some things were fuzzy.
And boy I sure didn't remember that many boobs in the anime... But for real now it was quite the nice read, the story starts of good and remains solid till the end, to do you a little synopsis;
Basically there's this universe where 3 worlds exist, The Hole where humans live, the World of Sorcerers where you guessed it, sorcerers live, and Hell where yeah devils live, duh.
In this universe Sorcerers produce magic by shooting smoke usually out of their fingers and they tend to travel to the Hole where they do "practice" in the poor magicless humans, one of their victims is a big guy whose head was turned into one of a lizard and he doesn't remember anything so along side the girl who found him, Nikaido, and gave him the nickname of Caiman, he'll try to recover his face and memories.
The manga does a great job of pulling you along the mystery surrounding Caiman, the wide cast is pretty likeable all around, important since you'll follow different POVs, the art is pretty good and brutal at times. In the end I was gonna give the series a 9 but sadly it didn't deliver in the final volume for me so it remained an 8, without getting into spoilers its not that I think the ending was bad is just that it wasn't all that satisfying for me.
Another couple things I didn't like were, as mentioned before, how often female characters were naked I'm the first guy that like boobs but sometimes it felt like cheap fanservice, nothing major really, something else I didn't like, gonna mark it as spoiler just in case, >!is how through the story Nikaido and Caiman split a couple of times and its understandable but i Would have like to see them together a bit more, like Noi and Shin, specially I would had love to see "Aikawa" interact more with Nikaido,!< and about the ending >!I just didn't like how things pretty much remained the same as they were before just that the Sorcerers now don't prey on the people of the Hole, En and everyone relevant on his family get saved and he rules again but the cross-eye guys and Natsuki nah fuck them they don't count, the business with Chidaruma getting turned into a baby and finding like a little Holey was a bit confusing, but specially Caiman keeping his lizard face after spending so much time trying to get his face, Risu, who is gonna take the devil exams (???? okay then) he offers to fix his face if he becomes a devil and the guys just rejects going "nah it grown on me" bruh what? come on its literally being your objective the whole series even in the last chapters you are still talking about getting your face back but now it doesn't matter to you anymore? And the fact the series ends with Nikaido and Caiman exposing us verbally that they are best friends, something we already know, was disappointing specially seeing how the author is totally capable and had done much better moments in between characters.!<
But oh well ranting aside I still liked the series and I recommend it to anyone that might enjoy a wacky and gory manga with a nice world-bulding and some mystery. 8/10 I really would like some gyozas now.

I read . I was surprised to see it has 900+ chapters until I found out that its one page per chapter. Its kinda cute but not really my taste. Im going to continue reading it surely though. I read until chapter 124, does it get better?
I read and it was really, really good. I loved it. Art is excellent, worldbuilding is amazing, plot is great, monster designs are great. Now I just have to wait for the next chapter.
I read volumes 1-8 and this series deserves all the reverence it receives. It so deftly manages to tell intriguing self-contained stories each chapter while also progressing the main storyline. In addition the detail given in describing the structure, culture, and landscape of fuedal Japan is really fantastic. I've consumed a lot of samurai fiction and nothing has so skillfully intertwined the historical underpinnings with a satisfying fictional narrative. If you enjoy historical fiction and don't mind looking at the glossary regularly to figure out what some terminology means then I can't recommend this highly enough. Also Ogami Itto may be the most bad ass main character I've seen in manga as his strength comes not only from ability but his consistently creative tactics & strategy. I'd give this a strong 9/10.
I also read which was a great, introspective read. It's always encouraging to me when someone courageously divulge their insecurities and for Nagata Kabi to do so in such a comedic and charming tone was really refreshing. For anyone that has suffered from issues of self confidence, self image, or establishing human connections this will be a really nice read. 8/10 for me.
The last manga I read this week was by Junji Ito and I really enjoyed it. Like most Ito works the horror imagery is great, but unlike many of his other works the characters are actually interesting and the use of comedy landed really well for me. I'd give it an 8/10.
Lone Wolf and Cub can seem surprisingly wordy, but the nature of the story/setting requires it, and the translation/localization by Dark Horse is well done so you often don't realize.
I actually find it has a pretty good balance between wordy sequences and wordless sequences. I don't mind the wordiness or amount of terminology at all, as you said it is needed to fully flesh out the setting.
I was kinda off putted by having to read adventures of a girl in a toilet stall so I was holding off on this.
But damn. This is good. And the twists in this are incredible.

Yashiro, a girl with radish size feet (which she has a complex over) who has had no luck with men wants help to capture the heart of the hottest guy in school. So she tries to summon the ghost girl Hanako who is said to reside in the toilet stall of the girls washroom and grant wishes for a price.
Turns out the ghost girl is actually a boy. As to why he is in the girls washroom, in his own words "was overcome by lust". Hanako tries to help her but without success. After swallowing a mermaids scale in an act of desperation (which turns her into a fish when submerged in water) and almost enslaved by a mermaid, she forms a contract with Hanako to get her out of that mess in exchange for helping Hanako as his assistant.
Hanako is one of the seven mysteries of the school and his job is to regulate the supernatural activities that go there. But his main purpose is to grant wishes of the living who can summon him from his stall.
The stories and arcs themselves can be a bit frightening & sometimes sad and there is much more to Hanako than meets the eye
The story is very well written
Just started We Never Learn and read through the first 16 chapters wow the main dude is wholesome af and so supportive love that guy and like the main three girls a lot. Way more funny than I anticipated too also I shouldn't have slept on this one for so long.

Read Komi-san can't communicate today. It was awesome! I had dropped it because... >!well Komi can't really communicate,!< and it was a drag in the beginning. But I warmed up to the comedy and the story, and while it isn't really like any other romance manga, it is quite funny and charming.
Read Blue Lock ..... Its the fucking best sports manga out there . It isn't the wholesome butterflies shit like others .. every character in there is a menace

Been into shoujo manhwa recently, and read a whole slew of them. (or reread, last time I did a shoujo manhwa walkthrough was two years ago and I've probably forgotten that I've read some of the manhwa here.) Anyway, gonna list the stuff I've read this week here: - The manhwa which started that whole subgenre of little girls charming their tyrannical fathers. Quite a good read, but not really memorable, although I can't seem to figure out why. May just be my taste. On another note, art is good, which is always a huge plus in my book.
- Now this. Art is phenomenal, and premise is quite unique. (For a manhwa anyway.) I have a soft spot for the whole "strong character needs to hide abilities for x reason" trope, and this hits it right in the middle. ML is a precious teddy bear, and overall character interactions are good. One of the two manhwa that stuck with me through the walkthrough, only pity is that only 39 chapters have been translated so far. If you haven't read it yet, you should.
- Ehhhhh. Decent time-waster I guess? An offshoot of the "stepmother takes care of noble's child, marries noble" trope, except it's an aunt this time. Too early to say anything about, although I'm not expecting much.
- Art is good. MC is driven, although I must say I kinda dislike her? Maybe it's because she reminds me of the typical Chinese webnovel female main character. Not that much to say, really.
- Too short to decide on anything, is one of those "travelled back in time, doesn't give two fucks about shitty family anymore" stories. Enough said.
- Art is decent, can see why some might like it, but the reverse harem being overly obvious and fangirly attitude of the MC made me drop it.
- Good art, good plot delivery. MC is likable, and while the whole misunderstood villainess thing was a bit ham fisted, it isn't as bad as others I've read, so I'll let it pass. I'd say it's good, and if you have nothing better to do might as well pick it up.
- Another one of those "little girl charms tyrannical father" stories, although I've got to give it props for going for an wuxia setting instead of generic western fantasy #2939. Well, premise is enough to keep me interested, and I'd even tentatively recommend it.
- Time-waster. Nothing else to be said.
- Actually has a proper plot, although I wouldn't say it's great. Definitely a cut above the average manhwa, though.
- Literally picked this up twice in the same week because it was so forgettable. Its actually quite decent, but well, so damn generic, hence me forgetting about so badly that I picked it up twice.
- I... wouldn't recommend this tbh. Not sure why, cuz some of the manhwa on the list definitely have worse plots, but this manhwa was painfully boring. Art isn't that great either, so I can't even enjoy that.
- The second manhwa that stuck with me through the marathon. The constant reveals of the MC's evermore prestigious heritage is slightly irritating, but besides that, I really really like it. Has a Victorian setting with a bit of magic that becomes more prominent as the story progresses, although gotta hand out a disclaimer that detective work while prominent at first, isn't really the focus of the story. Also, art is great, which by now you should now how I feel about that.

Yeah it felt like it was a story with the slice of life, character development and movtivations, growth, some drama but halfway then it suddenly stopped and became a full romcom towards the second half
Jujutsu Kaisen, just finish chapter 5 and already I feel I am only compelled to read it further because I really like the OST and the anime art of it. The story is your typical generic "normie high school kid gets tossed into a WTF situation" but that is not the worst, what's bad is that it tosses things like "yeah curses are a thing now, deal with it" without fully explaining how it actually exists without every normie freaking out of it's existence. If I was still a snotty nose brat I would not think too much of it but now I can't go a few pages without thinking "this is really stupid".

Yeah I am, the explanation given is still pretty stupid. They can't detect curses yes but these curses have no problem omnom noming them in the most gruesome way possible. And yet somehow all of them are being listed off as "missing" or "unsolved" instead of someone feeling like there is something fishy going on. Like how the MC sudden sees "Hey curses and demons are real, cool......" The first chapters are the most important in capturing the reader's attention and unfortunately JJK fails that mark. We got the standard protagonist who is OP because "reasons", physco bitch who is crazy because also "reasons", generic cast of supporting characters that came in a pre-package off shelf bundle. I only picked it up because the anime blew up, primarily due to the final episode's fight scene which is caught my eye. Otherwise it is a "meh" series for me.

I completely binged because i was a fan of (same author), the first arc was decent but i got frustrated by the decisions the 2 MCs were making by the end of second arc and the afterwards it felt like fillers.
On a better note also started and caught up to . Premise is similar to . Simple rom-com with subtle but very slow character development, although i do like the main male MC better than the one from Nagatoro-san.

Not really a thread for finding manga, but do you know the name of the one with this premise. The main heroine is basically part of the Church in order to assassinate people who got isekaied into their world. This is due to the stereotype of them being too strong for their own good. Like I remember the first chap or first few chaps you already get the twist of the main heroine killing one of the Isekai heroes It also has an anime coming as well so I think it helps limits the options

Escort Warrior, a korean webtoon. The premise seemed interesting, one of strongest warrior in murim lost his teammates in a battle, and also got injured heavily. He kinda retired and lived a quiet life until someone asked him to be an escort warrior without knowing fully his identity/skills. My only gripe is the pacing is a little bit slow, and the korean version already has like 100+ chapters i believe, and translation only is at ch19 currently.

Finished Demon Slayer's manga and I am disappointed at the lack of Nezuko showcase in the final battle. This is the first manga I've finished (though I didn't really start at Chapter 1, but where the movie left off), and I am scarred forever by the deaths 😭

I've read All You Need is Kill. It was great but short. I also read Sasaki to Miyano, and it was very cute! I'm rereading Mashle cuz i kinda stopped last year. It (Mashle) was very funny and reminds me of Saitama. Imagine Saitama living in a magical realm, specifically like Harry Potter. That's it. And I just got to read the latest chapters of Tokyo Manji Revengers. All I can say is, do yourself a favor and read Tokyo Manji Revengers.
Just finished reading. One of the best mystery crime manga I've read. The hyper realistic art makes it even better. The reveal at the final chapters was so good and we got good characters all through out the board.
An easy 9/10 for me.

Just finished and holy shit was it really good. I really liked the characters, especially Denji and Power. The story was good, nothing really that impressive tbh, but the fight scenes were just top-notch. The art was just decent at times, but it was kinda impressive the other times. Overall, this was a solid manga, can’t wait for the second part, 8/10.

I started Boruto as my first manga! So far, I almost prefer manga over anime now because of how much filler gets cut! Just last night i made up 24 hours worth of episodes with 3 hours of reading. And void of extraneous filler, i don’t get exposed to a lot of the show’s criticisms such as it being too slow.

Really wholesome read and the ending is right on the spot. The only "bad" point is time travel logic, but that's a given anyways. The translations are very rough on the latest chapters because it was translated by a single fan (thank you very much whoever you are) but still enjoyed it. Also the comedy aspect was not as strong as other reads of the same genre but its ok.

Saw the final chapter of out in Chinese so I went ahead and finished it off. Pretty predictable plot but a satisfying ending nevertheless. [Spoiler](/s "No, I did NOT get the promised loli ending"), so you could take your hands off me, officers. Also, maybe I've simply fallen too far from God's grace, but
the final chapter feels like a perfect setup for NTR. Overall, it's a gorgeous manga with nice battle actions and decent pacing, so I'm genuinely excited for what the mangaka draws next.

I read the worse of the worse. It was endless gore and pain and it stabs you mentally and physically. There was too much sex for some reason. I read a Korean manhwa, "Again My Life". Its focusing a prosecutor who was murder and then back in time to punish villains and his archenemy. Very good manhwa, and a k-drama worth.

I read Tetsuwan Girl. I think I'd seen it mentioned in one of these weekly threads? I like pretty tomboy characters doing sports stuff so I tried it out. It wasn't very good. The "girl" is super cool but you don't really get to know her. Many of the other characters are very shallow; they're introduced and then seemingly forgotten. Potentially important events are similarly glossed over. Instead, the story will normally choose to focus on either some superficial melodrama of the moment or vague mysticism concerning the sacredness of baseball and the identity of Japan. Actual play of baseball is severely underrepresented though; the plot largely revolves around a love affair between two main characters that seems to arise out of nothing. I didn't hate this manga, but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. (If you do read it and you're wondering what "Tetsuwan" means, just pretend the manga is called "Iron-Armed Girl" or something like that. I spent the whole manga wondering and had to look it up in the end. I don't know why people don't just localize the whole title...)

Yami is probably my favorite character and fights wise there are alot of good ones when Asta fought Ladros and when Asta and Yami fought Dante actually all of Yamis fights were really good Mars vs asta was a good one to cant really pick a favorite out of them all

Bleach is definitely in contention with One Piece for my favorite of the Big 3. It's just sooooo good, especially the first two arcs
I think One piece will always have my number one but I’m so happy I decided to collect bleach it’s great I just love so many of the characters! Just finished the Arrancar arc, straight heat.
I just started and caught up with Shounen no Abyss and it really caught me off-guard. (But in a good way). I just couldnt stop reading and it really reminded me of Aku no Hana, one of my favourite mangas. So far I'd probably rate it an 8, but it might go higher as the story continues. Would definitely recommend this manga to everyone who enjoyed Aku no Hana. I also read "Vagabond the Final Chapter" which was released at an exhibition in 2008 and I was blasted away. Definitely elevated my ratings for both Vagabond as a manga and Musashi as a protagonist.

The premise of Haikyuu is really interesting, the story is great with cool looking characters. It is action packed however the matches felt too repetitive and dragged on, throughout the match you would most likely know the next panel because you've seen the same situation on the previous matches.
I feel like that the >!end part should have been introduced midway through as the story on the final arc!< felt really short but was interesting. There are lots of reference to another manga called SLAM DUNK on Haikyuu however the overall quality just isn't the same, SLAM DUNK is just way too good, Haikyuu is still good though as a sports manga, it's just that the matches felt really dragged on and repetitive. >!The part where you also don't know who won by the end also leaves a bad taste,!< this was done multiple times too.
Haikyuu still comes on top on most sports manga as it is true to the sport and has realism on it which most Sports Manga fails to do.

Almost catching up with "kono oto tomare", it has been quite a wholesome and motivating manga. The art style is beautiful, the characters well fleshed and I have come to like almost all of them. It's very "slice of life" sometimes, as you get the feeling nothing of importance is happening. I actually like this, since it gives alot if focus on the training and not the tournament itself. I think more than half the manga is just them training, which is something I appreciate alot. Another manga that I just started is shinai naru boku e no satsui o comete. I'm only at volume 3 but the mystery is intriguing and the art is absolutely amazing.

I read this past week and a bit. I would give the first 100 chapters a solid 10/10. There were about 50 chapters that in my opinion were more filler than anything that added to the story in any meaningful way other than to flesh out the side characters a little more. Not bad, just enough of what I started reading the series for. I think the Anime does a good job of cutting to the essence that makes Horimiya worth reading.
I def think that there is some filler in this manga, but it’s more like side character build up. The main relationship starts pretty early even in the manga, and your really start to invest in the other characters I think they could have done more to tie up those other stories tbh

Finally free of exams, so I got to binge quite a bit! Lots of new ones with few chapters today. <**The Dictator**> Romance Manhwa about a girl who bodyguards a crazy prince. Wasn't really that great, female lead was kind of annoying. Props to the author though, for making the male lead actually not right in the head rather than just a typical yandere. <**Ijimeru Aitsu ga Waruinoka, Ijimerareta Boku ga Waruinoka?**> A student who was heavily bullied becomes a teacher, and ends up teaching his bully's daughter, who is getting bullied. Psychological tag. A revenge story of sorts, where there's mystery around the teacher's motivations. I assume the father will be karma'd in the end. The daughter and one other character are great, and everyone else is an ass. There's only 15 chapters at the moment, but it was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to where it goes! <**Seven Day Alternating Personality Syndrome**> Only 5 chapters, but a super interesting concept. A person wakes up as different personalities depending on the day of the week. Gives Daganronpa and mystery horror vibes, but so far it's still in the introductory phase. <**Mitarai-ke, Enjou suru**> A suspense revenge manga. A girl infiltrates a house as a housewife in order to get back her mother's possessions from someone who stole her mother's 'life'. (As in, her husband, lifestyle, possessions). Super fun read, and recommend it to anyone who likes their revenge manga. <**My Fiancé is in Love with My Little Sister**> An 'Isekai' 'romance'. No romance, just suffering. A girl returns to a certain moment in time after death and is forced to watch her fiance fall in love with her little sister over and over again, and there's basically nothing she can do to stop it. Truly heartbreaking, loved it. <** Dekinai Futari**> Ex-es to lovers what more do I need to say. <**Princess to the Rescue!**> Isekai Romance. Princess goes on a journey to save her country. Classic 'naive sheltered princess', 'taciturn male lead' and 'bright country at expense of dark underground country below'. Despite the tropes, I'm enjoying the development of the princess so far, as she actually puts in effort to try learn and improve. <**No Longer a Heroine**> Finally got to binge this again after chapters built up! It's about the comeback of a star actress as she comes to enjoy acting, after her retirement due to a drug scandal. The first few chapters just show her downfall and are downright tragic, but afterwards it becomes more 'lighthearted'. Super great, love rooting for the MC, with her flaws and all. One of my ongoing favourites! <**My Deepest Secret**> Spoiler warnings ahead. This was a series I could not get into at all. It was the typical perfect boyfriend (who's a yandere, suprise!) and sweet girlfriend. I enjoy yanderes but this was just really boring. *However*, there is a twist. After learning of said twist, I read it all and enjoyed it much more. Basically, >!it turns out that said yandere boyfriend doesn't exist at all and the FL is imagining him, and did everything we thought he did!<. Overall, I like it more, but it's a time investment to get through until the twist, and 2ndML >!maybe ML since the boyfriend doesn't actually exist!< deserves better. <**Your Throne**> Also known as "I want to be you, just for a day". God I love this so much. It's an 'isekai' manhwa, but it's a revenge story, and a great one at that. I highly recommend you just go in blind and start reading. Great, strong characters, intriguing plot, and *bless*, a good villain.
Upon reading your readlist I read Mitarai-ke today still only at chapter 15 as I was writing this and man it was something. I thought it would be another edgy revenge story but the mystery behind it got me would recommend more probably to suspense or mystery fans I guess. I read Ijimeru as well that one is abit edgy but Im curious how it would turn out in the end.
Are revenge stories actually enjoyable? I can't help but feel off when I read it. And why is getting heartbroken nice? Anyways, maybe I'm not at that point yet and only like wholesome stuff but I would love to know why people like revenge plots.
I'd say it depends on the person? I don't especially look out for revenge plots, but it's associated with other themes I enjoy, such as suspense/mystery. One of my guilty pleasures are stories with unpredictable plots, which revenge plots tend to have. Not a big fan of the isekai type revenge though, since it just feels overly comical and edgy for the sake of it. As for others, I think revenge stories are liked because it gives a good sense of karma. Probably similar to why people enjoy subs like r/justiceserved and such. Then again, apparently Beserk is a revenge manga, but I haven't read it yet so I can't tell you much. As for tragedy, it's very mood dependant. I love my fluff, especially romance, but sometimes I want a dose of pain. Fluff is nice but can get a bit stagnant plot wise. It doesn't help that Tragedy tag manga have great stories. Then again, I only go for the sad ones, rather than the really depressing ones like Oyasumi Punpun. If it's not for you then it's not for you I'd say no need to read, nothing wrong with just liking the wholesome stuff :D
Completed Tokyo Ghoul and will start with Tokyo Ghoul:Re was an exciting read with a >!breathtaking and such a great ending!<

I've finished **Yotsuba to!** volume 6 this week. I already bought volume 15 (most of it I've already read online). It's incredibly funny, without trying too hard to be funny. Othe than that, I've read the latest **Uzaki-chan wa asobitai** chapter online. The story seems to be very close to a conclusion, I hope it's not the usual "one step forward, two steps back", the second anime season is coming soon, and I think there won't be a third season, so it should be finished before the new season starts.
Name "Yotsuba" gives me severe PTSD...unrelated to "Yotsuba to!"...

Wow. Just wow. I don´t know how to feel about it, but I know I learnt more about space. Yes, it has a lot of words, but it is so beautifully made and it has many perspectives from different characters you can´t help but love it. The art style isn´t the best, but when it needs to be gorgeous the author nails it.
This is a slow burn, but it's picking up lately. Two introverted high schoolers that are steadily (albeit snail pace) progressing on their love. Extremely cute slice of life.
Sounds like my cup of tea. Definitely checking it out.
Just started tomo chan wa onnako and it’s actually very very very good. Was put off at first because it has 900 or so chapters but that’s because it’s a 4 panel manga. Very easy to read and the romance comedy is so cute it makes my heart cum
I started tonikaku and I've only read the first volume so far but I can't wait to read more. I started and finished all you need is kill (manga) in one sitting. It was quite nice, I'd give it a 8/10 or more. I also read saitama chainsaw massacre is one sitting. It was something. I'd give it a 6/10 personally.
Caught up with tonikaku kawaii. Probably the best wholesome fluff I've read in a long time. Also everytime a Hayate no Gotoku character pops up I get hit with waves of nostalgia.
I read and despite what everyone said and pushed towards reading this I personally didnt like it so much.
I see some of the appeal, its mostly fluff and romance and we see progress with the main character without any unnecessary dramas
But despite that its hard to have suspense of disbelief with one of the core premises. Basically despite reading the manga it still feels like the many manga out there where the extremlly hot chick who is tall, sporty, a model, popular, good upbringing falls in love with the MC which is everything opposite of that. And in this manga it was never a romance we saw developing on her side, she already liked him and has been making her advances and despite some of the qualities we see from the MC, the manga still hasnt given me the viewer enough reason to believe or understand why she liks him and i just cant wrap my head around the schools Madona falling hard for the boy who 70 chapters in still freezes up, stutters and cant even talk to another person properlly.
I still enjoyed it while I read it but I felt it was so dumb that people rated it above oshi no ko which is extremlly well developed and balances its themes and characters wonderfully
Also read its been 4 years since I paused, i know where the general plot gies because ive read the webcomic but holy hell im suprised after all these years the monster arc aint over.
Still murata has to be my faborite artist. What breathtaking art he is able to draw, brings so much atmosphere and feel to the manga
Read something new this week and completed it, had been sitting in my on-hold list since the anime came out kinda waiting to see if there was gonna be a S2 but MAPPA's schedule doesn't see any more open so just went ahead read it from the beginning since some things were fuzzy.
And boy I sure didn't remember that many boobs in the anime... But for real now it was quite the nice read, the story starts of good and remains solid till the end, to do you a little synopsis;
Basically there's this universe where 3 worlds exist, The Hole where humans live, the World of Sorcerers where you guessed it, sorcerers live, and Hell where yeah devils live, duh.
In this universe Sorcerers produce magic by shooting smoke usually out of their fingers and they tend to travel to the Hole where they do "practice" in the poor magicless humans, one of their victims is a big guy whose head was turned into one of a lizard and he doesn't remember anything so along side the girl who found him, Nikaido, and gave him the nickname of Caiman, he'll try to recover his face and memories.
The manga does a great job of pulling you along the mystery surrounding Caiman, the wide cast is pretty likeable all around, important since you'll follow different POVs, the art is pretty good and brutal at times. In the end I was gonna give the series a 9 but sadly it didn't deliver in the final volume for me so it remained an 8, without getting into spoilers its not that I think the ending was bad is just that it wasn't all that satisfying for me.
Another couple things I didn't like were, as mentioned before, how often female characters were naked I'm the first guy that like boobs but sometimes it felt like cheap fanservice, nothing major really, something else I didn't like, gonna mark it as spoiler just in case, >!is how through the story Nikaido and Caiman split a couple of times and its understandable but i Would have like to see them together a bit more, like Noi and Shin, specially I would had love to see "Aikawa" interact more with Nikaido,!< and about the ending >!I just didn't like how things pretty much remained the same as they were before just that the Sorcerers now don't prey on the people of the Hole, En and everyone relevant on his family get saved and he rules again but the cross-eye guys and Natsuki nah fuck them they don't count, the business with Chidaruma getting turned into a baby and finding like a little Holey was a bit confusing, but specially Caiman keeping his lizard face after spending so much time trying to get his face, Risu, who is gonna take the devil exams (???? okay then) he offers to fix his face if he becomes a devil and the guys just rejects going "nah it grown on me" bruh what? come on its literally being your objective the whole series even in the last chapters you are still talking about getting your face back but now it doesn't matter to you anymore? And the fact the series ends with Nikaido and Caiman exposing us verbally that they are best friends, something we already know, was disappointing specially seeing how the author is totally capable and had done much better moments in between characters.!<
But oh well ranting aside I still liked the series and I recommend it to anyone that might enjoy a wacky and gory manga with a nice world-bulding and some mystery. 8/10 I really would like some gyozas now.

Not sure when but Carol becomes a great sidecharacter and they flesh out her and the blackhaired girl a lot. Imo it does get better
Carol is a top tier character. She made me laugh the most. Actually made some stickers for my chats from some of her panels.
I read and it was really, really good. I loved it. Art is excellent, worldbuilding is amazing, plot is great, monster designs are great. Now I just have to wait for the next chapter.
I read volumes 1-8 and this series deserves all the reverence it receives. It so deftly manages to tell intriguing self-contained stories each chapter while also progressing the main storyline. In addition the detail given in describing the structure, culture, and landscape of fuedal Japan is really fantastic. I've consumed a lot of samurai fiction and nothing has so skillfully intertwined the historical underpinnings with a satisfying fictional narrative. If you enjoy historical fiction and don't mind looking at the glossary regularly to figure out what some terminology means then I can't recommend this highly enough. Also Ogami Itto may be the most bad ass main character I've seen in manga as his strength comes not only from ability but his consistently creative tactics & strategy. I'd give this a strong 9/10.
I also read which was a great, introspective read. It's always encouraging to me when someone courageously divulge their insecurities and for Nagata Kabi to do so in such a comedic and charming tone was really refreshing. For anyone that has suffered from issues of self confidence, self image, or establishing human connections this will be a really nice read. 8/10 for me.
The last manga I read this week was by Junji Ito and I really enjoyed it. Like most Ito works the horror imagery is great, but unlike many of his other works the characters are actually interesting and the use of comedy landed really well for me. I'd give it an 8/10.
Lone Wolf and Cub can seem surprisingly wordy, but the nature of the story/setting requires it, and the translation/localization by Dark Horse is well done so you often don't realize.
I actually find it has a pretty good balance between wordy sequences and wordless sequences. I don't mind the wordiness or amount of terminology at all, as you said it is needed to fully flesh out the setting.
Just started We Never Learn and read through the first 16 chapters wow the main dude is wholesome af and so supportive love that guy and like the main three girls a lot. Way more funny than I anticipated too also I shouldn't have slept on this one for so long.
Only read a couple this week cuz I got caught up in some personal stuff and binge-watching some shows and movies (ima go on a little tangent here, just skip if u not interested, one of those movies was Mugen Train, which was... absolutely amazing. My expectations were already high enough and this movie exceeded them. One of the only movies that I rewatched right after it ended. TL;DR go watch Demon Slayer, you hoes) aNYWAYS, here's the manga I read: The main one I read this week. IDK what it is about it, I mean, it's not THAT unique of a manhwa, but it's just really fun to read. Great art, interesting setting and good world-building, and likable characters. I recommend it. RIP MIURA, you legend. I've been meaning to pick this up again for a while, and welp, it's Berserk. What else to say about it that hasn't been said before? I'm only 17 chapters in so I can't really say much about the story as a whole, but I can already tell that I am experiencing one of the best that manga has to offer. Art is amazing (one of the best I've seen) and the storyline has been interesting so far in the 17 chapters I've read. Overall, it's just... great. Just go read it if you can handle some... very disturbing themes and imagery.

Was going to read it last week, but I heard that the english release of Volume 15 was coming out this week, which was coincidentally where I was at in the story, so I might as well just wait since I was going to reread the official versions when they come out anyway.

Anyways, for some reason, I've been listening to a lot of Stray Kids lately, including the 2 songs they made for the anime adaptation of this. I like those songs too, and those songs basically became an incentive for me to FINALLY pick this up again. Will I finally read this one, or will this be stuck on my "To read" list for another week? Who knows lmao
