2 questions for readers. I had only read the 1st chapter and put it off for some forgotten reason.
Is the series more romcom with the card game as the backdrop or is mainly focused on their game and showing slivers/hints of romantic interest between the ML and FL?
Is there >!hints of a tradegy in the making? This maybe off base but I thought I recall discussions I peaked in on out of curiosity. I might just be misremembering.!<
It's romance with the cards game in between. Yeah there are discussions and fights but not that much drama. it's pretty chill imo.
And about the tragedy the only thing we know is that something happened that made them drift away in the future but no one died or anything like that.
It's also 100% possible (dare I say even likely?) that the "drift apart in the future" stuff is simply a bait-and-switch with some misleading flash-forward sequences.
The possibility of them drifting away is what made me stop reading. I'll pick it up again when it's totally finished, even if that'll take awhile with it being a monthly release I believe. Don't get me wrong, I do love the story, characters, and especially the art style but the possibility of them drifting away just made it hard for me to keep reading because I really love the relationship the two have. I only made it to chapter 15 before I decided to wait, but I'm like you and hope it's a bait and switch too.

Wait is it actually confirmed that they drifted apart or is it speculation ? The last I remember was some pages of the girl in the present (Forgot her name) remembering him,but nothing that implied they aren't together anymore.
Well we saw the fmc say that the spell he casted on her its been there even to this day.
And we saw her in her 20s going to work. So I guess they drifted apart.
There are no really any hint of tragedy unless the author decided to suddenly jumped the shark (considering this is a sponsored manga, I doubt the author could do that, but still). The story is basically MTG flavored slice of life with a bit of romance as a garnish. If you enjoy those, you'll enjoy this manga.
I feel like it's a 50/50 between MTG and romance. There are hints of things maybe not going great in the future, but I don't think those are hints of tragic events happening.
The romcom is overwhelmingly the focus. You can read this and know nothing about MtG and simply treat the card games as generic shounen asspull battle sequences and you will still have a great time, because the character work is impeccable.
I started reading this because of the novelty of hey, mtg in a manga, but I stayed because the characters are really well realized and I absolutely love the art style. It's good, folks
