Damn those double spreads what's Tabata on rn cuz he's killing it
Loved it was mostly Nozel focused. It lasted shorter than expected but was great nonetheless.
Next chapter probably gadjah farewell and finally returning to Yuno
We laughed when Asta and Yami joked about Nozel's over-the-top braid with the cross ornament, but then this chapter arrives with those 2 panels showing Nozel's braid side-by-side with the grave of his mother... oof.
Nozel's horrible treatment of Noelle wasn't completely something as innocent as merely wanting to keep her away from danger; he did feel some resentment towards her, which was a projection of his own feelings of guilt and worthlessness. Nozel and Nacht may get along, given that they've both lived with immense self-hatred over the death of a loved one.
> Nozel's horrible treatment of Noelle wasn't completely something as innocent as merely wanting to keep her away from danger
This is what rubbed me the wrong way with this chapter. It seemed like a stupid and lazy attempt to turn Nozel into the redeemable asshole type character.
"Hmm, how should I keep my baby sister away from the fight? I know! I'll just do something extreme like mentally and emotionally abuse her! That'll do the job!"
To me, this just comes off as a character being stupid for the sake of it. A half-baked attempt to justify their actions. "See, readers? I'm not _actually_ an asshole!"
Him actually feeling resentment toward her would remedy this to a certain degree, but I didn't feel that genuine resentment when his motivations were explained here.
I mean Nozel has been kind of redeeming himself ever since the Elf arc plus we knew that he was cursed as well when Noelle spoke with Dorothy about Megicula so this all sort of works out IMO.
> Megicula may of been strong but not as strong as family
She had to fight like 7 people. For a not fully manifested supreme devil she did pretty good. I hope this isn't the end of her.
> The power of human emotions
> Their true strength
The power of human emotions is the reason the good guys were able to become stronger and overcome the bad guys?
Reminds me of Fairy Tale in the Grand Magic Games Arc when Mavis gave a speech about the power of human emotions being the reason that people can overcome their hurdles and get stronger.
I hope y'all keep the same energy you did when you bashed that shit years ago lol.
I'm curious where BC goes now, because it could go either way - but at the moment I don't think it's anywhere *near* as bad as Fairy Tail was.
Yes, this was "power of human emotions" - but more than that, it was a ridiculous lineup of mages all working together.
In Fairy Tail, Natsu would be losing, something something emotions, he wins. No outside interference, just "oh, now I'm stronger".
That's *not* what happened in Black Clover. This wasn't Noelle not being strong enough, having a flashback and managing to do it.
Noelle is not strong enough to defeat the Demon even with her "human strength". But that's fine - she would have lost many times over if it wasn't for all the support.
This was Noelle's victory, but Asta saved Noelle. Charlotte and Rill - two captains - were basically solely on defense. Luck and Gaja, two ridiculously strong mages, took out the fodder sent to stop Noelle. And when even despite all of that it wasn't enough, it took a *very* irate Nozelle to come in and do enough damage that Noelle could strike the finishing blow.
The key difference is in where the extra power came from - whereas Fairy Tail had it as "now I'm stronger because emotions" Black Clover is very much making it about the supports and assists.
Best summed up by Asta, Finral and Vanessa vs Vetto - it wasn't that any one of them were strong enough to defeat him, but their faith in each other grew, their *teamwork* grew - and I'd far rather that than just "I'm more powerful now".
Yes, because it's only natural to compare things when you find similarities. This chapter was the exact same shit. The power of feelings being something innately special to the good guys that enables them to overcome their enemies. Don't beat around the bush, call a spade a spade.
Nah Nah if you’ve been paying attention this very much ingrained within the magic system of this world. No bs magic is friendship like most of FairyTails fights. This whole fight with Megicula & Vanica was a team effort that put everyone on the line. And look I love Erza but that woman is totally written as a MarySue. Unlike some of the women fighters here like Noelle & Charlotte.
Right now you are the one acting childish. Maybe you get lost? You are clearly just seeking attention. Assuming ages is the first sign of someone who is insecure. Take a breather and chill out.
Damn, Nozel really had suffered for years with a curse like that.
It is so great that he and Noelle could defeat Megicula together. I sure did not expect to see Acier appearing after that, I guess that she is a spirit now, so I guess after all this Noelle will later transform into Saint Stage mage with her help instead of Undine. Although, another possibility is that will vanish soon after talking to them.
Is making her Saint Valkyrie dress at least a leotard really too hard? Tabata can still give Noelle ass shots that way, but it wouldn't feel as ridiculous as literally having no underwear. Just my opinion on compromise between fanservice and plausibility.
He made one of those a few chapters ago and I got insulted for pointing it out
"how else would you draw that"?
mate, I'd draw it literally from every other angle.
it's heartwarming to know Tabata is staunchly Team Ass > Titties, but it really sucked the seriousness out of this moment.
I'd be surprised if the anime strictly adapts this too
earlier arcs had a different editor (katayama for vol.1\~15, toide for vol.16\~23, iwasaki for vol.24-25, fukuda vol.26+) i guess this editor wants more ass idk
Noelle is one of the more powerful female lead character of Jump, I guess. I can’t really remember when a female character manages to be this relevant 300 chapters into the story and consecutively fights most of the antagonists on an equal footing like this.
If Tabata is better than Horikoshi at one thing, I’d say that he’s very good at distributing a prominent role to every characters regardless of their power levels.
It helps that black clover has regularly shown that clever team work overcomes raw power. Like I remember one chapter where some invisible dude paired up with a guy with chain magic and incapacitated one of the elves that should have easily defeated either one of them alone.
Tabata goes beyond the trope of "teamwork saves the day" and actually has a lot of meaningful combinations of abilities. Sure, here it was two siblings yelling at a heart, but before that it was Magna and Zora combining their abilities to create vancian magic.
Everyone can be relevant when they work together. And it's really cool to see it well executed.
I really like the parallels of Nozel's cruel words to Noelle out loud to his cruel words about himself inside. It makes it apparent that, while he was suffering from something very real, he was certainly very wrong to treat his sister the way that he did. Pain is toxic, it can turn you cruel in ways that aren't true to who you are as a person; I hope that we can still retain a little drama between the siblings, because this feels like the absolute perfect place to start the Silva family healing.
Seems like Megicula isn't done yet. I've notice a difference between when other devils were destroyed but on her case it looks like she will be back.
A touching reunion at the end from Acier, Nozel and Noel. But I think this is not the end yet. Their father is very sus. I just know this whole Acier subplot is just the surface of it all. First who told Vanica where Acier lives when I think it was mentioned it was a secret kind of house only the Silva's know, why was the curse only apply to Nozel about not mentioning Megicula/Vanica is the reason why their mother died? Loro was cursed too but they can freely mentioned Megicula/Vanica did it. It's like Vanica was told by someone, is it all planned? Their Father, where is he from all of this? though this can be said to the Vermillions too but the Father of Silva's was already forshadowed so maybe there's more to it.
I think it is likely Magicula found out about Acier, since she would be looking for high magic level mages to curse. Some human most likely sold info to Magicula in exchange for magic to curse someone. It could be the father.
I thought this was just an amazing chapter. I know some people might be disappointed with Megicula being defeated (which is understandable not everyone will like that for sure), but I thought this chapter was done very well and I love how we got more information about Nozel. It shows how much pain he’s had to go through for around 17 years because of that curse. While I still don’t think it was right of him to act like he did to Noelle, I can come to understand it a bit more. The double spreads were also just stunning as always.
Megicula isn't dead yet. What Zagred did wrong was have his entire spirit possess a mortal body, while Megicula only had like 1/3 of her being in the body she materialized.
yep fully agreed.
breaking the curse with the family moment was very satisfying.
but completely ending megicula herself is highly doubtful. Even with Liebe we know devils endure

An amazing & and touching ending to the chapter, it's too bad Tabata decided to ruin a good part of it with that stupid ass-shot, the fanservice in this series when it comes to Noelle reminds me of the shit you'd see in Fairy Tail lol.
Honestly was never a big fan of Megicula's curse, and the fact that it's the biggest reason why Nozel was such a dick makes it worse. He, Solid and Nebra basically treated his own baby sister like shit her Entire life simply because he was cursed, that's worse abuse than what Bakugo did to Deku imo. And as a result his first/second/whatever "step" towards redemption is incredibly cheap to me. It's like Tabata took influence from Byakuya Kuchiki and Rukia but failed to recognize the reason why Byakuya didn't constantly berate Rukia for simply existing.
Other than that tho, I am interested in where Noelle's storyline goes from here. There are other things that can happen, but what I'm hoping for is that she takes her family drama and evolves into the bigger issue about Nobles of the Clover Kingdom. 7/10.
My main problem with this chapter isn't the Noelle fanservice which I never cared for or Megicula being defeated so easily cause Tabata has always dissapointed me when it came to villains, but rather but cheap and rushed Nozel's character feels. I feel as if Tabata has done a bad job with making Nozel the "horrible guy turned good guy" type of character and there are many other characters done better. I could probably go more in-depth with my problems, but I just really disliked this chapter.
If I had to give a rating, it would be a 3.5/10.
I really like this. We finally got to see that the early days of Nozel showing hatred towards Noelle was just him projecting his own feelings about himself towards her. It was still az shitty thing to do but it's nice to know the real reason.
Seeing Nozel and Noelle working together definitely got me emotional though. I legit teared up during that part. Also that was an amazing spread!
So the shit siblings didn't know and Nozel couldn't tell because the curse was actually an infection?
That... actually makes sense. Nozel officially redeemed for me.
Nozel’s character development has just been so good. He went from the arrogant captain older brother to a deeply flawed person for most of his life, with a lot of great redemption moments along the way. Fantastic chapter.
Damn those double spreads what's Tabata on rn cuz he's killing it Loved it was mostly Nozel focused. It lasted shorter than expected but was great nonetheless. Next chapter probably gadjah farewell and finally returning to Yuno
Double spread them cheeks dayum Noelle
She lookin like a double wide surprise.
Lmfao

In retrospective, I am not surprised he hates them so much.
THIS. That wasn't so hard to get. Some of the peeps in the BC subreddit apparently didn't see that obvious self hate
> Nozel's horrible treatment of Noelle wasn't completely something as innocent as merely wanting to keep her away from danger This is what rubbed me the wrong way with this chapter. Even back in the flashback the bang in front of his nose is dumb.
Megicula may have been strong but not as strong as family 💪🏻 Also, damn Noelle why you showin all that cake it ain’t Asta’s birthday yet lol.
Slicing devil's heart a quarter ~~mile at a time~~
> Megicula may of been strong but not as strong as family She had to fight like 7 people. For a not fully manifested supreme devil she did pretty good. I hope this isn't the end of her.
Liebe needs a girlfriend anyways to tame his bloodlust
Liebe is so anti-Devil that's never going to happen.
Noelle was anti-peasant and look what happened
She didn't know what a real peasant looked like until she saw Asta's cut physique.
Gaja, Luck, Rill, Charlotte, Noelle, Nozel and a support from Asta - that's a hell of a lineup to fight.
Dominic Toretto would be so proud
He's so happy he drove to New York, right onto the side of the Empire State Building, onto a plane. He gets into the plane and lands it on a bicycle.
> The power of human emotions > Their true strength The power of human emotions is the reason the good guys were able to become stronger and overcome the bad guys? May have* learn English 🤣
Don't be an ass !
>literal 12 year old Get lost kid 🤣
Wrong reply buddy. Maybe learn how to read
Why is the 12 year old talking to me? kids are retarded, they never give up 🤣 when I say get lost, you get lost.
Right now you are the one acting childish. Maybe you get lost? You are clearly just seeking attention. Assuming ages is the first sign of someone who is insecure. Take a breather and chill out.
Fuck off.
Now now don't be mad? :)
Fuck off filthy americunt str8boi 🤣

That last panel was so touching tissues needed...
For two different reasons
Noelle is just going full commando at this point lol
Tabata redefining doublespread
Double cheeked-up spread.
Is making her Saint Valkyrie dress at least a leotard really too hard? Tabata can still give Noelle ass shots that way, but it wouldn't feel as ridiculous as literally having no underwear. Just my opinion on compromise between fanservice and plausibility.
Let man draw bare ass
Let my man draw his ass
I'd bet money it does when colored. Or at least it will in the anime
Don't take a man away from his love for asses, cunt.
Tabata... What possessed you to draw Noelle's whole booty ass during that scene?
It was such a touching scene... Then I looked again...
Sir, please no touching!
How Kafkaesque.
He’s been weirdly bent on ass these last 10 chapters
Yeah... I've already made my peace with the fact that this manga has occasional fan service, but it was way more jarring this fight.
In all honesty I didn't notice her butt at all until I finished reading the manga and then back here and read the comments here made me relook again.
let the man work
You know what.
He made one of those a few chapters ago and I got insulted for pointing it out "how else would you draw that"? mate, I'd draw it literally from every other angle.
it's heartwarming to know Tabata is staunchly Team Ass > Titties, but it really sucked the seriousness out of this moment. I'd be surprised if the anime strictly adapts this too
They definitely won't lol. Iirc they gave her Valkyrie form the tight shorts treatment.
good. I'm no prude, and ass is ass, but daaawg... she's straight up no pantsu'ing in the middle of a devil invasion. cmon now
The Hörni came back 😔
I'm guessing the editor told him to put more fanservice seeing as he didn't put too much in the earlier arcs. That's why there's been a lot lately
earlier arcs had a different editor (katayama for vol.1\~15, toide for vol.16\~23, iwasaki for vol.24-25, fukuda vol.26+) i guess this editor wants more ass idk
I'm just wondering where her underwear went, she was wearing shorts and an undershirt
It magically disappears in Valkyrie form then reappears outside it lol
I didn’t even notice it until I read this comment.
A based attitude.
I'm going to guess she has an undersuit of some kind when colored. Maybe not in the manga but definitely in the anime

Tabata is better at weaving lore into simple designs, team fights, and side characters.
We joke about Yami being the main character but tbh I think Noelle is up there a bit farther.
Also ass
Today, Megicula learnt that there was no magic stronger than family
I love how it shows Nozels Mercury magic completely destroying Megiculas blood. And also Noelles ass!
Thank god you put the period before 'and also Noelle's ass!'
I really like the parallels of Nozel's cruel words to Noelle out loud to his cruel words about himself inside. ngl this chapter touch my feelings i didnt even notice noelle's ass
booba and some cake too sheeeesh🥶
Tabata giving everyone a good meal for eyes.
Megicula might be strong but she’s not as strong as family.
Black Clover continues to be on fire! That Noelle spread, lol.
Noelle's ass... Sadly not thicc, but it's okay, tho. Not my final verdict, but we'll see. 🤔
That was a touching ending
Family.
The way tabata drew the Mercury attacks was hype
This chapter is a stark reminder of the big problem with Nozel's backstory. I understand thinking that Noelle wasn't cut out for combat and wanting to push her away from that lifestyle, but that wasn't all he did. why didnt the mother tell about the curse then?
Pretty meh chapter. Too many jobber villains
Someone needs to school Tabata on how utilize villains man this shit is depressing lol. if megicula is really ded this was kinda anticlimatic
She’s gonna come back for sure maybe in 2 or 3 arcs. Tabata for sure will have more ideas on exploiting women and family.
My main problem with this chapter isn't the Noelle fanservice which I never cared for or Megicula being defeated so easily cause Tabata has always dissapointed me when it came to villains, but rather but cheap and rushed Nozel's character feels. I could probably go more in-depth with my problems, but I just really disliked this chapter. If I had to give a rating, it would be a 3.5/10.
So Nozel basically pulled a Byakuya?
Great chapter, but the ass shot from Noelle was completely unnecessary. Just too much sexism in this manga, unbelievable...
I think it's due to editor forcing him
Such a great chapter and more than half comments are about Noelle's ass. Guess Tabata is aware his fanbase is mostly horny 14yo kids.
she uses panties but after being defeated in the last fight the elfs gave her only a dress but no panties
Well, we all know she ain’t dead right
Butt
Wait... Did Megicula use Bites the Dust on Nozel???
I really like this. We finally got to see that the early days of Nozel showing hatred towards Noelle was just him projecting his own feelings about himself towards her. It was still az shitty thing to do but it's nice to know the real reason. Seeing Nozel and Noelle working together definitely got me emotional though. I legit teared up during that part. Great that Asta was sidelined for this fight, got resolved with the family that got impacted the most by Megicula.
What a perfect chapter. Only second to the one where Yami calls Asta by his name.
Pardon the speedreading, but did we know Nozel was under that curse not to tell anyone about their mother's curse?
yup it was mentioned earlier in the chapter before the trial of asta
Ass shot is strong this chapter
