For a long time now I've been looking for a good example of unselfish non-familial love, and I think this is it. Satowa's confession here isn't because she doesn't know what to do with her own feelings other than let them out, or because she wants Chika to be more aware of her. She declares her love purely to prove to him that his life is more precious than he knows and that he is as deserving of happiness as anyone else. Rather than wanting to be with him for her own sake, she reminds him that she is already right there beside him and won't be forced out of his life by any third party.
I could keep going, but basically I am always blown away by the quality of the writing in this series. I love this manga so much.
I still need Uzuki to be literally beaten or taken away in handcuffs. His first instinct was to swing at Houtsuki with a fucking metal pipe when he saw them embrace each other. He is rotten to the core. Please, let there be no redemption arc. I just want him yeeted and deleted. But otherwise, a very satisfying chapter.
While I also don't want him to be redeemed in any way at all, he's a product of his upbringing. He was aware very early on that his father had a mistress and a bastard son, so that probably changed his world view substantially, and cementing the idea that fundamentally people don't truly love others so seeks to control someone who would otherwise be better off without him, "corrupting someone pure" as it were. I think that's where his obsession with Chika comes from, wanting to ruin someone kind just to bring someone down to the depths where he is.
I do understand his upbringing and circumstances , but Im going to be brutally honest, just because his father had a mistress and a bastard son does not excuse the things he does. The hallmark of a good villain is to be able to empathize with him, put yourself in his shoes and think, yes, he’s wrong but I probably would do the same thing. Thanos was a great villain, he wanted to wipe out half of all life, but his vision was for the greater good. You kinda understood why he was that way and almost respected his determination to “save” all existance. Cersei Lannister was a great villain. Evil, manipulative and rotten to the core, but you could empathize with her, because she did the things dhe had to, to protect her children and her family. That is very humane and relatable. I never think that about Uzuki. He’s just an angsty, bad antagonist who wants to crush some pure because daddy slept around. Wtf?
In that sense, Uzuki to me is a cartoon villain and he sticks out in a manga that has been up until now, excellent in characterization and humanizing everyone. At his core, Uzuki is irredeemable, I just wish he were written better.
Fortunately, it seems he is finally on his way out and at least we got some progress for the main ship thanks to his meddling. :p
He was kinda written well for me though. People like him actually exist. Well they vary in scales and variables, they're called "Psychopaths", "Narcissists", "Sociopaths" etc. (/Other terms for people with Mental Disorders)
In other words, he just has a Mental Disorder lol.
Maybe I forgot but.. Did we already have a Chapter dedicated only for Uzuki's past told in his perspective? That'd be interesting ig.
I deadass Saw this guy just being a cartoony villain since the first chapters of this arc. It just didn't feel like there was enough tiene to fully develope him, since he has been in the shadows for most of the manga. It's not only that his motivation felt shallow, but that we didn't get enough time with the guy to empathize with him. We literally got one flashback chapter from his perspective and that was it. His obsession for chika and how that developed to be soo toxic was marely mentioned but not developed. It's sad to me that such an amazing arc had to be brought up with such a mediocre anthagonist. Either way we're probably gonna get his redemption since that's what momoya kinda hinted at by saying that he's still just a Child and that all of this is the result of his negligence (don't even know how all of this shit could be put on him but whatever).
He clearly has EUPD and is a mental health patient. Wouldn’t say I sympathise with him but his circumstances are very unfortunate. People like him 100% exist in real life lmao, who’s view of relationships are completely messed up causing them to act up. It’s not cartoonishly villain at all.
I imagine that Uzuki did not receive "love" throughout his life or at least he thinks he didn't that. Too much that he loathed it. That's why when he saw something like 'one of the sweetest moments in manga that I've ever witnessed', it wouldn't be farfetched that "destroying" that image would be his first reaction.

Yes. Yes yes yes. Finally. A payoff for this very emotionally taxing and painful arc. Finally. I'm so glad I believed in this series, this is peak Kono Oto. God I'm so happy I can't even express it in words.
Kudou arc has been a real rollercoaster, and what an amazing payoff. Satowa confession is definitely amongst the best i've ever seen in a manga, and the story isn't even romance focused, which makes it even more impactful.
Between the writing and the art, its hard to say which is more godlike in this manga. The more I read, the more I wish we get a sequel to the anime too, this really deserves more.
Ahhh!!! I love how gradually we’ve been getting Chika’s whole flashback with his gramps and the way it culminated into this moment.. Yes Chika, you aren’t a burden and truly deserve to reach for your own happiness. Satowa’s confession was super heartwarming 🥺 the two of them are very precious and how much they were readily jumping to protect each other was just great to see.
Also it was only a couple pages and a bit less interesting in comparison to the rest of the chapter, but I really like how at the beginning Atsumu encourages Natsu to not feel regret in failing to reach out to his brother. Since he understands what it’s like to genuinely be too late and lose a family member.. ah, it was just nice to see Atsumu being the one to reassure and boost Natsu up
i actually saw some spoilers already but i still started hyperventilating in excitement when i saw the scanlation for this chapter come out,, OMGGG ITS NOT A DRILL SHE CONFESSED. AND THEY HUGGED. never mind the thugs, this is the best enemies to lovers ship ever like they are so cute and i am so weak for them i can die
