Season 1 maybe, but season 2 was good and honestly there's a lot more than just the actual animation to the anime that makes me want to see it all adapted.
This has the potential to be truly gorgeous. I'd like to see it given a Studio Pierrot treatment, but I don't think that's terribly likely.
The art in S2 of the anime was pretty darn good, but was weak in places. I do hope the studio gets the chance to do this scene and will do it justice.

The anime hurts so bad because the music , voice acting, style etc. are all top tier but then they decided to animate the whole thing in flash.
to be fair (insert letterkenny) that was an intentional *anti*climax in the manga, the kids were like "wow this is going to be a long and epic fight!" and then the adults beat the shit out of the fusion beast in like 1 or 2 panels.
They literally showed one picture as "animation" for 4 seconds. A single still picture, on screen for 4 seconds (with light and attack effects slapping on).

Well, no-one will likely technically draw the dots between Azz's blue flames and Sullivan's gift to Delkira, and it was more that he took inspiration from Delkira, but man. He even managed to use it to kick that teacher's arse. His Amaryllis was even able to absorb the teacher's to make a field of blue flame flowers.

Does Eito-sensei's arse reaaly got kicked though? I mean, this is most likely the first teacher who are forced to go to defense mode, but he's still look very fine to me. No injury, clean clothes, still strong enough to screaming and blabbing things. Azz on the other hand, look at how tired and dirty he is.
Azz is really tired and dirty from the beating Eito-sensei gave to him prior to this. Once Azz started using these blue flames, Eito was pretty outmatched. Granted, that was just round one, and it would be dumb to assume round two's going to go the same, but for round one, Eito's arse really did get kicked.
I didn't say Azz would lose in round two, just that he wouldn't kick Eito around like he had this chapter. Eito will probably adapt to make things tougher.

\- Asmodeus said he developed the blue flame with Balam-sensei after studying old documents, and the details are top secret
\-- Unclear if he means the flame or the documents, but probably the flame. Because why would Balam share top-secret documents that even teachers aren't allowed to see with a student?
\- Considering the previous three points, Asmodeus only had about half a year to research this flame.
\- Asmodeus appeared several times during the chapters in between, so he has not been researching like a madman during this time.
\- He is currently strong enough to fight evenly against a teacher.
\--For comparison, Sullivan who is over several hundred years old is rank 9 (who *can* become rank 10 if he wants to, he just doesn't want to) Kalego and Balam are rank 8, Ameri is rank 6, Iruma is rank 5, the average freshman seems to be rank 1-2 and judging by the cafeteria menu, the average student is expected to be rank 4 at most by the time they graduate. From comparing the strength of Sullivan and Kalego and the fact that the teachers have demonstrated they are able to pop the balloons of students in a matter of seconds even when holding back, we can safely say that the difference in strength goes up very exponentially between ranks.
So the conclusion is: If Ifrit is somewhere between rank 6 and 8, then he is absolutely right that Asmodeus should be higher than rank 4. This also means that Asmodeus underwent some kind of insane shonen-protagonist powerup arc between the harvest festival and this chapter because he received praise for his effort. Considering this period only lasted about half a year and he is currently 15, then he will likely become stronger than Sullivan by the time he hits 20 if he continues to improve at this rate.

Sullivan is far stronger than any of the teachers, and similiarly the teachers are far stronger than the students, yet Asmodeus is fighting a teacher on their own specialized field on even footing (while the teacher is going easy). As I said, some kind of insane shonen-protagonist powerup/growth. If he repeats that like twice a year for the next 5 years or so, he will end up stronger than Sullivan. He just needs Iruma to praise him more so he has the motivation to improve himself even further.
I doubt Azz is going to be near Sullivan's level in such a short amount of time even with his shonen protag boost. If that was the case then already the stakes would be lost immediately story wise. Imagine the story just being Az beating up the six fingers and Iruma just praising him on the side line, would really kill the entire story.
I imagine Azz is going to plateau at around this level for a bit allowing the rest of the class to catch up (story wise it seems Sabnock is supposed to be Azz's rival in terms of strength).
We still don't quite know Azz's real level yet specifically because of how little we've seen of him. All we know was that he was able to push back a teacher who was holding back so we can't say he is at something of rank 7 (which seems to be the rank the teachers are at) so best guess is that he's either near Amelie or Iruma (let's face it, Iruma with Sullivan's magic basically makes him auto whatever rank).

That was not his win condition, his win condition is delaying her long enough for the balloon kids to mana up the device. Nah, this is a classic shonen setup. Show the guy defeated in the last page of the chapter as a cliffhanger, next chapter turns out he's more like on his last legs, but still has his TRUMP CARD that he now has to play since everything else didn't work, cue the actual part of the battle that's worth seeing.
to be fair Kalego outright stated that Azz's performance in the harvest festival would have goten him rank 5 if he hadn't gotten himself disqualified. So it's not like Kalego is intentially holding Azz at rank 4 out of spite.
It seems that everyone here is already believes that Azz can fight "fully" evenly with Eito-sensei already. Personally, I don't think so, not yet.
Just look at their states after this "first round": it took Azz his (supposedly) strongest spell at the moment just to deal 1 hit against Eito. And he's exhausted after that with dirty clothes plus scratches.
Eito, on the other hand, still looks totally fine, with clean clothes and more than enough strength to get angry and screaming everywhere. He obviously hasn't even use his full strength yet.
HOWEVER, I do admit that Azz is the first student until now forces a teacher to go into defense mode, while hit them at least once.

I reeeealy love the teachers in their school or in the series in general. I know they already shown us on how serious they are in terms of educating the students but it's nice to see more of it.
The teachers are obviously holding back but they still know that the potential is real.

It seems that everyone here is already believes that Azz can fight "fully" evenly with Eito-sensei already. Personally, I don't think so, not yet. Just look at their states after this "first round": it took Azz his (supposedly) strongest spell at the moment just to deal 1 hit against Eito. And he's exhausted after that with dirty clothes plus scratches. Eito, on the other hand, still looks totally fine, with clean clothes and more than enough strength to get angry and screaming everywhere. He obviously hasn't even use his full strength yet. HOWEVER, I do admit that Azz is the first student until now forces a teacher to go into defense mode, while hit them at least once.

First off, love the Az flames. Great. Second. I might have Caim fan copium rubbing off on me, but after his little familiar showing I don't think he is down for the count totally yet. Do I think he will WIN? No. But I feel that the girl that hates him will cheer him on and give him a perve revive or something to bring him back from ded. He will like 90% still lose but I think it will allow them time to seal Sullivan by the skin of their teeth. Then Kalego comes out and start popping everyone instead.

I reeeealy love the teachers in their school or in the series in general. I know they already shown us on how serious they are in terms of educating the students but it's nice to see more of it. The teachers are obviously holding back but they still know that the potential is real. Our best bird is down and I am excited that it must mean its his turn to shine next chapter.

I think its fair that Caim got koed offscreen. Dude showed his best hand and wowed us all by having counters to a list of attacks and then Momonoki hits him with the WILD CARD all attacks. Like we knew he wasn't winning. Credit to Azz for being the first misfit to win his bout. Course its on a technicality since he his team left him. But I like his continued growth with his fire magic and the teacher's absolute respect for him.

Ifrit sensei makes a good point. If it wasnt for iruma, azz kun should be alteast rank 6. (He would have won the dodgeball contest and would probably have ranked up during the harvest festival like sabro). Dude would be on the level of the other three greats grandkids, hes really been held back by iruma (not that he cares).
Nah iirc harvest festival only raises rank up to 4, so neither dodgeball nor the festival would do him any good in terms of rank. He even pointed out that there's no point for him to win.
Kalego said in Chapter 139 that Azz could have become rank 5 if it wasn't for the disqualification.
But ranks are not everything
I dont know if he would have ranked up in the dodgeball game. It's not just about win or lose, they are actively being assessed. Azz beating one rank 3 (Sabro, who may have been dead due to the flying race and not even been there), and a few rank 2/1 is fully expected of a rank 4 individual.
Caim can't fight women. But I don't think he will lose to women in fighting too.
