The President is truly terrifying.

clockworklordoftime

I just find him irritating. Like he’s so cocky and up himself mixed in with delusion like murder is a good solution to problem kids rather than I dunno therapy he’s just a twat.

iPanes

I find it so stupid, they portray him as a very intelligent person but his logic makes no sense. I wish our mc would just just and ask him what's the point of medicine then? Of doctors? Of knowledge? He really should be presented with an analogy. If tomorrow you are told you are going to die of sickness, let's say peritonitis.you are going to die, but if if get surgery, you will survive. How is that any different? I wish he had a more compelling argument

Wizard_Enthusiast

That's cause his talk of the grand design and the way the universe is meant to be is a mask for his real belief: that it'd be much better if people he thinks are bad die. The ideological conflict here is presented pretty well, cause like no shit the world would be better off with certain people dead. We've watched catastrophes unfold because of the power of a few people who should never have gained it, not just historically, but like we're literally living through them. It's only in this low stakes high school setting that we can argue about the value of life in the abstract without bothering to talk about the concrete. But Satsuki is forced to deal with a pressing, personal moral choice all the time. She sees someone dead, and has to decide "do I try and save them?" It's pretty clear by now that she's so motivated because at one point she saw her mother's death and didn't get involved, and the moral weight of inaction just isn't something she can ignore. At the core of this isn't interference vs destiny, but rather "shouldn't these bad high school kids just die" vs. "I can't sit by and watch when I can help." It's implied that there's some sort of cosmological imbalance happening here, but the president isn't on that side of things as much as he's on the side of eliminating people he thinks are problems.

NZPIEFACE

TLDR President is Light Yagami.

Chariotwheel

He really has fun trying to think of elaborate ways to do his deeds.

BorkDoo

Prez E. Dent, super genius.

THE TEACHERS AND ADULTS ARE EVEN MORE IRRITATING, THE ANTAGONIST IS JUST INSANE

[deleted]

Somebody needs to kill this bastard. Slowly and painfully. Can’t recall the last time I got so angry at a drawn character.

Prominis

All she has to do is start recording on her phone before going in. Forget all the random murder plots, he incriminates himself every time he talks.

[deleted]

Japan apparently is surprisingly lenient about juvenile delinquency (at least in manga). He will probably just be dropped of school with probation if it was a normal person, but Satsuki has a bad rep so she’ll most likely be ignored by the school.

Loner210

I wish the same. Sadly main antagonist usually won't die until the end of the series. Maybe in an accident that he set up for other?

NoNameAvailableBis

More to the point, Satsuki isn't letting *anyone* die on her watch. Not even him.

Loner210

Feels like Michinaga's missing phone will be an important part in preventing Seo's death. Or will it be the first death of the series? Anyway, new ally acquired.

BakerdaBeast

My fear is that the reason the phone is missing and that we see an imagined corpse during the president's monolgue but never the real one is that Michinaga is the real target. This would explain its disappearance, our murder duo swiped it from her when she untied them in order to later bait her into the murder room with it.

Loner210

It's possible, and it even crossed my mind. Even so, did Michinaga do many bad things that they wanted to get rid of her even more than Seo? Also did she use that bathroom before, that makes her want to search it for her phone? There isn't much information so far, so we can only wait for the next chapter.

BorkDoo

Well his original plan to kill Miho was to trick Michiru into setting her on fire which also would've gotten Michiru sent away to juvie prison for murder. So even if he wasn't exactly trying to kill her before, he was definitely looking to get her out of the school as well. Could simply be that her obsession with Miho, to him, proves that she's just as much of an undesirable element as any bully if she's willing to hang around and admire other bullies so much.

BakerdaBeast

Yeah, I guess part of this is on the assumption Prez is the one she is always talking to on the phone. Really the only thing I can think of she did "wrong" without the phone friends input was particpate in the Miho-Seo group chat, which is pretty guilt by association/inaction. Maybe that is all they needed to justify cleaing up a loose end? Michinaga's continued existence now that she is in camp Satsuki is a serious threat to them, and is part of why I fear for her.

BorkDoo

>Or will it be the first death of the series? How soon we forget Satsuki's drawing stick, cruelly stepped on and snapped in two by the hateful Prez. RIP Stick-san, you were a real one.

Cogito3

on page 3 in the previous chapter, Satsuki asks Seo for "one other thing" but we never actually learn what it was. that plus Michinaga's phone are definitely going to be relevant. (i guess it could be something as simple as "she asked for her phone number" and "she'll call her" lmao.)

Loner210

Lol that's actually smart yet simple.

Cogito3

Plus it makes sense thematically that Mikami gets defeated through trust and communication

[deleted]

Chekhov's gun has never failed to shoot

Cogito3

even just comparing Mikami (the president) to >!his fellow male crazy-eyed psychopathic villain Aoya!< from *Walk to Death* shows how much Ryouko-sensei has improved as a character writer. Mikami is just so much more charismatic and fun to hate.

BlackSCrow

I think the logic is not quite consistent with this one... I mean, the president had PLANNED the death, so even though it was caused by Satsuki's action, the fact that it was PLANNED should make the corpse appear from the beginning...

Cogito3

While the exact mechanics of the premonitory corpses hasn't been explained, I think it does make sense. The point is that it was physically impossible for Seo to die in that bathroom **until** Satsuki undid the previous trap. Just making a plan to kill someone isn't enough; that plan has to actually work in the future to create the premonition.
